Great Jain-friendly options with no onion and garlic in the pizza sauce. Loved it
Is this the best pizza place in the Bay Area? No. Do you recommend anyone visiting this place? Absolutely! I went there for a team dinner and we ordered a bunch of pizzas, dishes, and drinks, and they strongly exceeded my expectations. The atmosphere was great and the staff was super nice and helpful. Totally passed the vibe check.
Very high quality pizza; some of the best I've ever had. Highly recommend their vegan pizzas - they're on par with the regular cheese pizzas here.
I did love it. Everything was so charming. I loved our waitress. Beautiful atmosphere with heated lamps and pretty lights. Very good gluten-free pasta. Even crayons and paper with activities for the kids. I would have liked more gluten-free variety but what we did order was fine, and even filled me up without meat. (I would've liked meat hahaha). The waitress was very patient, kind, knowledgeable, and helpful.
Had great time seated at the bar the other night... It was fun to watch all the goings on of the restaurant. We ordered the peas and peas, which was buttery and delicious and split a salad and a white pie pizza. Great cocktails and service!
Delicious pizza made from scratch with high quality ingredients!
The BEST gluten free pizza crust I have ever had! It’s perfectly chewy and flavorful- really something else. Last time I was there, the server told me the chef really searched for an excellent recipe and works with an LA bakery for it. I cannot overstate how excellent it is.
One of the few places still open during covid times. Pizzas are great here. Don’t come with a large group the seating is just awkward. We ordered: Green beans - meh. I like asian style better Nectarine salad - very interesting Corn - reminded me of elote Margherita pizza - yum. Can’t go wrong with a classic FUNGhi - the best can’t help but love mushrooms Pesto pasta - meh- don’t know how I feel about the potatoes on this pizza flavors were good though Tagliatelle pasta - this was bomb dot com. Do it
Thursday night sitting at the bar. Really good pizza margaherita DOP and salsiccia. Ended with tiramisu and affogato vainilla 100/10
I was visiting the area for a wedding and was staying at the Nobu Hotel on the same block so I wanted to find a good dinner close by. Luckily they had seating inside available since there was a large corporate event taking over the entire outside and I am so happy that I was able to actually try this place because it was really delicious. You pay on your phone for all your items and then they deliver them to your table so when you’re finished you can just head out which is really nice. I started off with a meatball which was large and delicious and one of the better ones I’ve had in awhile. For my entrée I chose the Mother’s Day Pizza which was a spicy vodka sauce, Burrata, and onions and it was wonderful. The pizza went quickly and then I finished it off with a cappuccino. Overall a great meal and I would stop by again next time I’m in town.
Very good pizzas! A little expensive but completely worth it, they were delicious! And the service was amazing too
Wow, a great treat now and then even for the most chain-loving pizza fan. We recently were treated to a bunch of pizzas from Delfina for a meeting at work. Definitely someplace I will go to later. Great crust as you must have before we bother discussing anything else, but also brilliant use of toppings--not just thrown on and baked in, but perfectly seasoned to pair with the pizza for great flavors. My favorite example: the arugula. Seasoned just right to go with the cheese and crispy crust. One great thing- the pizzas survived the trip back to work, and the wait for our (quick) meeting to end with no detriment to the tasty and crispy crust. Don't skip this place.,
Just visited Pizzeria Delfina in Palo Alto again. This time with my friend and his wife. Had even better experience this time once we got seated. Pomegranate Bellini was very flavorful drink. Spicy Cauliflower was awesome! We topped margarita pizza with onion, bell peppers and that was great change. Crazy us!! The manager Lauren was staying on top of every guests group/ table. Our server had great humor too, hardworking young man.
Great Pizzeria in downton Palo Alto. Appetizers, particularly the Burrata, and pizzas, specially the mushroom one, were very tasteful. Service was pretty good and the ambient has a modern feel - you might not tell it from the street but they have a decent sized and reserved outdoor space as well. Lastly, they have a good selection of Italian wines to pair with the food.
I went there many times and the food is always good. I tried both the pastas and pizza, and I was never disappointed. It is probably one of my favorite Italian places in Palo Alto (and I come from Italy). It is kind of expensive but the food is good. Also the terrace is very nice, it is definitely a good date spot if you go in the evening!
A generally good vibe and good pizza place! Very cute decor and very cool salad. A very unique tasting salad (winter chickarie); a tasteful combination of sour salad dressing and salty anchovies. Pizza was good too; unique selection of pizzas and they execute the neopolitan style pretty well; though I still prefer Punch Pizza.
Overall such a great place, the pizza felt like I was transported to Italy. The crust and other ingredients were top notch. The dough was light but with good chew and crisp on the bottom. We got the following Saffron Arancini - really good, well seasoned but not overpowering Funghi pizza - I really loved this one. The mushrooms had crazy flavor and just overall addicting Margarita DOP - great flavor and crust Soft serve ice cream - delicious, super smooth but not overly sweet Forsure will be going back. It's a little pricey but given the quality of the food, I'd say it's worth it
Been there probably more than 20 times with my wife. Our all time favorite pizza place. Menu updates frequently, always feel something new every time we visit. Legend!
One of my fav pizza place on the west coast! The tomato sauce on the margarita pizza omg chef kiss~ I would recommend this place to everyone that comes to the bay area. I would highly recommend having a reservation before coming since this place gets really busy during dinner hour. Good thing is reservation is not hard to get, and they will get you situated quickly if you have one. The outside dining area is very beautiful, great place for a date or just a casual dinner with friends or family.
Feliz cumpleaños a Clara! We came for Valentines Day and they gave us the cutest candy hearts and a heart hair clip. It’s Clara’s Bday and she bought the cutest gifts to give away! Always amazing service and food! Shout out to our bartender!
Nice Italian pizza restaurant and good pasta. Patio seating was nice during the day
Whatever you do, ask to be seated at Julia's station. She was wonderful during our visit on the busiest day of the year, Valentines Day :0 As it was our first time visiting, she walked us through the menu and answered our questions regarding the wine and pasta dishes. The Baked Lumachine is that comfort dish which goes well with their White Pizza Pie with Speck. Oh the crust!!! To the PD Palo Alto crew, thanks for your hard work and hospitality. You managed the floor really well. All the dishes were spot on. I appreciated the updates via OpenTable ap. Have a great week guys! We'll be back :)
The dining experience here was flawless , excellent food, customer service and atmosphere. We were seated at the outdoor seating and we loved the vibe , perfect for any occasion. We ordered the Escarole salad and it was not only fresh , it left us craving for more . Saffron arancinis were melt in the mouth .The bitterness of broccoli rabe married well with the cheese in the pizza , it was a very delicious unique pizza. We will definitely go back for this pizza .
Lovely! Friendly servers. We sat at the bar and the bartending gentleman with glasses was very good to us. Food was delicious and my husband loved his beer. Some inside seating but seems like the real atmosphere is in the lovely courtyard outdoor seating. We didnt have a reservation. Also struggled a bit with parking and parked a few streets away.
Tried this place two times now, and both experiences were uniqely 5 stars, so it's time to write a review! SERVICE: Shoutout to Artem, who has been our waiter both times. He was so attentive, friendly, and helpful. The menu here changes so when we came a second time, we didn't see our faves-- he was so flexible and helped us get our fave pizza even though it was off menu! FOOD: The pasta here is insane! Portions are good for 1-2 people, I actually ate the whole bowl myself (hehe!). I've tried both their lemon pasta and their pesto. The pesto reminded me of a green goddess sauce, full of veggies and so light. The pizzas were also excellent, our favorite is the Amatriciana. I also loved their Funghi pizza which was crisp and full of flavor. I would reccomend asking your waiter for the hot pizza oil for a spicy drizzle. AMBIENCE: The outdoor terrace is so quaint and cute, with lots of trees and plants to make you forget you're even near the street. The interior is also adorable with lots of blue and gold detailing.
After spending the morning in a baking class with my niece, we decided to grab some pizza. I knew she enjoyed it, and since she had never been to Pizzeria Delfina — it felt like the perfect choice for our girls’ lunch. I first discovered them at their original San Francisco location 15 years ago, and later enjoyed meals at their Palo Alto spot. It’s been a while since I’d been back, mostly because there are so many other dining options when I’m in Palo Alto. But today felt like the right time to revisit, and introduce her to it. When we arrived, the interior was under construction, but their patio was open with heaters, so we sat outside. We were definitely hungry, so we ordered a farm-to-table salad, their famous meatballs as an appetizer, and then shared a pizza. Both my niece and I agreed — the crust was fantastic. As someone who travels to Italy frequently for work and has had the pleasure of trying many authentic pizzas there, I can confidently say that Pizzeria Delfina’s crust holds its own. It was thin, crispy, chewy, and packed with flavor — just perfect. My niece, who is becoming quite the budding foodie herself, really loved it too. I’m sure she’ll be back, and I’m so happy we shared this experience. Parking in Los Gatos can be hit or miss, depending on the time of day, but we were lucky and found a spot nearby. The restaurant is located right off the main street, with parking lots close by. The vibe is upscale casual — nothing stuffy — and sometimes it’s just nice to enjoy a simple, delicious meal that isn’t overly complicated. Service was wonderful: attentive, knowledgeable, and perfectly paced. We’ll definitely be returning more often — highly recommend!
A friend brought me to this restaurant and I enjoyed the food so much that I took my family back there a few days later. The pizzas were excellent! The crust was so light and crispy. I feel this was the best pizza crust I've ever had! The appetizers were all so good. The restaurant appeared to be under renovation so there was only seating outside which was nice still. The server was great to make recommendations and was pleasant. I will definitely return when I visit the area again.
The pizzas here are excellent! We tried the pepperoni and mushroom pizzas, and both were delicious. You can taste the quality of ingredients. However, the cauliflower appetizer, recently added to the menu, was a bit underwhelming—it tasted like plain roasted cauliflower. What I love most about this place is the ambiance and design, both indoors and in the outdoor seating area. It’s especially nice to visit in the summer and enjoy the outdoor space and some good beer.
We met up with friends to share a meal, craving a thin crust pizza. We ordered salsiccia pizza, pomodoro spaghetti, melon pazzo, tiramisu, and buttermilk panna cotta. The meal was tasty and full of surprises. We liked the thin crust, and the spaghetti was great as well. The tiramisu was a favorite. Service was nice, there were spices to add if you want more of a kick. It will be fun to try other pizzas and appetizers.
This is an expensive place but with good food. Pizza and pastas were thin crust and with great toppings. The bruschetta was tangy and the Arugula complimented it. We had Tiramisu for desert. Tasty. Service was excellent. Drinks were also liked except for the ice tea which tasted like water. The other thing I did not like was that we were seated right at the entrance with people coming and going. Parking is difficult in this neighborhood
We loved sitting out on the outdoor patio. It's warm & covered. The pizza was delicious-- we enjoyed each of the 4 we ordered. They also came out relatively quickly. The "breadsticks" seem like a bit of a silly offering. Some nice, warm bread with oil & vinegar would be a welcome addition in place of these. The service also was not great.
i have been visiting this delfina for 10 years and it’s consistently been a favorite spot for special occasions. the pizzas are amazing but don’t sleep on the salads and appetizers too. they’re exciting and different and always delicious. however the last time i visited i was a bit disappointed in the portion sizes on the apps and salads! they were almost half the normal size. hoping it was one inconsistent time and not a new trend.
Great pizza. Sugo is wonderfull. Nice space inside and out. Service is a little hit and miss, but everyone is very nice. Great mixed drinks. Tricolore salad is a must. Fiore de latte ice cream mmmm
Pleasant setting and good service. Offers a variety of gluten free options. Delfina has a decent menu with about 10 options for pizza, including gluten free options, and plenty of other choices. We ordered a regular and a gluten free pizza. Both were pretty good. The salads are made with fresh ingredients and in-house dressings, but they are too small. Do not expect to have a full daily serving of vegetables by eating salad at this place.
Ate here last night, and the food was pretty good. I got the 4 formaggi pizza (and they added red onions and oregano — super yummy) and shared the pesto pasta (summer) and grilled corn (summer appetizer). The staff were friendly and general vibe was good, outdoor seating and space between tables, not too loud, attentive staff:)
Good Pizza. This place has a nice outdoor patio and good service. The Pizza was thin crust and very good. Try the Funghi pizza - was amazing. The grilled corn appetizer was good too, and so were the beers. The Napoletana pizza not so great. Since it's in Palo Alto downtown, if you drove - parking can be tricky.
Recently tried “Rigatoni Ala Norma” pasta takeout order from this place and it tasted really good. My husband ordered “Margerita DOP” pizza which was also good. I tried a slice from his pizza😜. One person can finish the quantity of the pasta given but little bit over the price for the quantity, need not worry about it as the food was good. Recommend this place when you go with group of friends😊
Angelo & Franco Burrata 4 arugula, bitter; crostini, large, thick, crunchy, olive oil; one burrata ball, fresh, creamy, juicy, spreads well on bread, finish with salt & pepper Zuppa: Butter Bean & Escarole 4 soup, pancetta, chili; too many beans, not enough soup, flavorful, not spicy Saffron Arancini 3 deep fried saffron rice ball, cheesy, saffron flavor Mortadella Pie Pizza 3 cheese, pepper, onions, medium flavorful Salsiccia Pizza 4 thin, slightly soggy; sausage, sweet pepper, onions, mozzarella, tomato sauce, flavorful Panna Cotta 5 kumquat slices, citrus; pistachio crumbs; super creamy, refreshing, flavorful, not too sweet
Went here with family for dinner recently to get some pizza. We shared 2 different pizzas. Both were really good, and had great flavor. Service was fast and pizzas came out pretty quick. My only concern I had there was a table next to us that they decided to split into 2 tables for 2 different groups. They placed the table so close to our table that I couldn't get out and unfortunately had to ask the table to move there table....im a petite size so for any other person it would have been extremely uncomfortable. I hate that I had to ruin the dinner of the table next to us.
A great Neapolitan pizza restaurant that also serves other Italian foods in downtown Palo Alto. The margarita DOP and Salciccia pizzas were outstanding, although the edge of the crust seems slightly dry. We also tried the Maiale al Latte dish (milk-braised Berkshire pork with very creamy cheesy polenta). The pork was fork tender and full of flavor. It was a very good and rich dish. Serving staff were all very friendly. We sat outside in the garden on a sunny afternoon and it was very pleasant. Price is not inexpensive (they automatically add 5% service fee due to employer mandate), but overall it was a very enjoyable experience.
Venue has been through a few iterations. Mirrasou, Empire Grill, now a hip, upscale pizza parlor. The Good: Very tasty, nicely prepared food. We did one appetizer, one entrée, and one pizza. Appropriate portions bordering on generous. Friendly, courteous and upbeat service from kids that could be my grandchildren. Very accommodating. The Bad: Very short wine menu, few bottle selections and barren by-the-glass options. Pours a bit skimpy. No tea; hot, iced, herbal or otherwise. Designated driver stuck with fizzy stuff or tap water. No honest spirits. Cocktails, yes; Scotch and water, brandy, grappa... no. The Ugly: A procrustian ordering system that smacks of age discrimination. If you don't own/carry/manipulate a smartphone, you could be SOL. We tried it on two different devices. Scanned the QR Code, and were sent a link that returned a non functional page. After some discussion we were given paper menus by the ever-helpful staff. Truth in Googling - yes, we use a VPN. Hmmm.
I do like this place. We’ve ordered in multiple times and had meals at the restaurant. Typically think everything is delicious. I just ordered a new menu item - the season grilled squash and I’m shocked at the tiny portion and yet was charged $16 dollars for this. We’re not cheap when it comes to spending money on food but do not appreciate when plate sizes are disproportional to the price. With that said, it was tasty.
I had never tried their pizza before, but I had read good things. I was short on time, so I called ahead & asked for a togo, Napoletana (one of their Specialty Pizzas) "tomatoes, anchovies, capers, hot peppers, olives & oregano " I added pepperoni to mine. When I arrived to pick up the pizza 15 mins later, it clearly was had been sitting for 5 to 8 mins, and was only warm to the touch. It was 13 to 15" across and had 8 slices, its crust was very thin, but not so much as to droop when lifted. The toppings were definitely premium quality and full of flavor. The cheese and sauce were used sparingly, which work great, one of those things where its enough to enjoy, but still leaves you wanted more when your through. In fact I was so impressed by the pizza, despite it being cold, the I ordered another one, this time the Fungi (hen of the woods mushroom pizza to go) as i really wanted to try a hot pie now. Unfortunately I think the server was busy and likely left it in the pass for 5 mins or so before running it out, it was hotter than the first, but when pizzas are super thin, it only takes a few mins for them to get cold. This pizza was even better than the first, (i thought a white truffle oil additional option would have worked well) I love the Hen-of-the-Woods shrooms and they really piled them on!!! I'd likely give this place a 4.5 or 5 on another trip, but as the cashier was less than polite, helpful, accommodating or informative, along with the second pizza not coming to the table before getting cold I gave it a 3 this trip. I will definitely be giving them another shot, as I imagine their "hot" pizzas are exponentially better, which says a lot!
Had been wanting to come here for a while and was excited to try based on the great reviews. Love the outdoor seating area, seating inside was a bit too close together. Something went side ways that day with the chef, I think, unfortunately. Got the clams pizza, it was so so salty and very few clams. The crust was average, too hard all over for my liking. Extremely disappointed! The pasta and barrata salad were okay.
Not impressed. Before you eat have a look around. Walk around and see what other guest are eating. You’ll notice piles of crust sitting on plates. No one wants to eat the crust. If people don’t even want to eat the crust how good can this pizza really be??? The dough needs work. I don’t like crust either when I buy cheap pizza. My experience just was not fulfilling. I’ll pass.
For me, restaurants have an intangible quality that keeps you coming back. It’s not always just about the food, but the combination of atmosphere, food, and service. In this case, the setting was wonderful (a beautiful evening in the outdoor dining garden) and the food was tasty, but the service unfortunately cast a shadow over the experience. We had a simple order—four pizzas, drinks, and appetizers. The order came out wrong, which can happen, but the server was dismissive about it. Throughout the meal, we had to flag her down for small things (water, olive oil, etc.) as she never checked back. She seemed competent but didn’t follow through. Not wanting to make a fuss, we let it go—but it shifted the focus of the evening from conversation to waiting until everyone had what they needed before eating. This is a popular restaurant in a prime location with great food—and they add a mandatory 5% charge to every check. One would expect that to translate into attentive service. Unfortunately, in our case, it didn’t.
We visited for my husband’s birthday. I asked them to surprise my husband with a small icecream and a candle. They asked me to pay for it . Even though I agreed they didn’t get it to us by the end of the night.
Came here for the first time at the behest of a friend who enjoys it. First, our table was horrible. It was pushed behind another table, that when occupied, traps you from getting out or even servers from getting in. Our server had to rudely get the other table's patrons to move for them whenever they needed to get to us. We had to shout over the other table to give our initial order. Very awkward. For food, I ordered the meatballs, which looked great when they came out. Unfortunately they were all salt. I usually enjoy a little bit more salt than is standard, but I honestly could hardly taste anything else.
Probably one of the worst service experiences I’ve had in a while. We made a reservation for 2 through Open Table since there’s no option to choose inside or outside when reserving I figured we could choose when we arrive. When I arrive at the restaurant I was not even acknowledged for several minutes. The hostess did not ask if we wanted to be inside or outside. We ordered a bottle of wine and confused when she didn’t even pour it. Most places at least pour the first glass and come around to ever so often but not here. I needed to ask for something, the server walked by and did not even bother to ask even though I was looking directly at her. The whole experience felt rushed and like they were burdened by us being there. Such an awkward and uncomfortable experience. Oh and the food was average.
Came here while downtown. Looking for a pizza place. Came here based off Google star reviews. I understand this place is catering to a higher class given the area. But honestly, the worst pizza I've ever had. At $26+ for a small/medium pizza i had high expectations. I just got a basic pepperoni. There was little to no flavor, hardly any sauce and it was super watery. Little cheese and super thin and tasteless pepperoni. Toppings/cheese just slide off the pooled up water red sauce and thin crust. There are many raves in the reviews. Just my personal experience/opinion. Give it a try 🤷🏻♂️
Pretty disappointing experience at Pizzeria Delfina in Palo Alto. We were there for over an hour and got 0 service. No one checked on us, filled up the water or anything. The other locations up in SF are great, but the one in Palo Alto was pretty bad today. Also, we ordered the carbonara pizza and it was literally just pizza with a lot of egg. Some of the egg didn’t seem cooked all the way through either. Overall pretty disappointed and won’t be coming back.
I’ve eaten here before and it was great but I recently got takeout and it was genuinely horrible. Pasta was tasteless, pizza was too soft and also bland. I was shocked. We ordered the ragu, pomodoro, and margarita — all classics, all horrible. We ended up doing takeout elsewhere. Not sure what happened, but not coming back!
Shocking! I have eaten here before and it was alright. I came back again this time the pizza was appalling. The crust to zängyness ratio was smothered not in a good way. Also the staff was a mess, the service was passive aggressive and blatantly rude. I even was with my Nona, she is from Napoli and she took one bite and she said “Facca Carre”! I would rather go to dominos than here. 😡
Server was rude as hell. Mocked us and was a fan of using an excessive amount of irony. Food was good but overpriced. Atmosphere was alright.
Weird employees, not a single Italian. The pizza is fraudulent. It pretends to be a fresh southern itallian but theres no flavor. The crust tasted like cherios. If you want a good pizza and to be treated with any respect at all go anywhere else. The price here is crazy high for what they offer. Fake fine dining.
The food was excellent, BUT I urge customers to double-check their credit card statements against their receipts. I discovered that the tip amount entered into their system was higher than what I had authorized on my signed copy. Despite multiple attempts to call the restaurant to resolve this, no one has answered the phone. It’s disappointing to have a great meal overshadowed by unauthorized charges. I am not going back again
