Friendly's East Islip Reviews
Feliz cumpleaños a Clara! We came for Valentines Day and they gave us the cutest candy hearts and a heart hair clip. It’s Clara’s Bday and she bought the cutest gifts to give away! Always amazing service and food! Shout out to our bartender!
Nice Italian pizza restaurant and good pasta. Patio seating was nice during the day
Whatever you do, ask to be seated at Julia's station. She was wonderful during our visit on the busiest day of the year, Valentines Day :0 As it was our first time visiting, she walked us through the menu and answered our questions regarding the wine and pasta dishes. The Baked Lumachine is that comfort dish which goes well with their White Pizza Pie with Speck. Oh the crust!!! To the PD Palo Alto crew, thanks for your hard work and hospitality. You managed the floor really well. All the dishes were spot on. I appreciated the updates via OpenTable ap. Have a great week guys! We'll be back :)
The dining experience here was flawless , excellent food, customer service and atmosphere. We were seated at the outdoor seating and we loved the vibe , perfect for any occasion. We ordered the Escarole salad and it was not only fresh , it left us craving for more . Saffron arancinis were melt in the mouth .The bitterness of broccoli rabe married well with the cheese in the pizza , it was a very delicious unique pizza. We will definitely go back for this pizza .
Lovely! Friendly servers. We sat at the bar and the bartending gentleman with glasses was very good to us. Food was delicious and my husband loved his beer. Some inside seating but seems like the real atmosphere is in the lovely courtyard outdoor seating. We didnt have a reservation. Also struggled a bit with parking and parked a few streets away.
Tried this place two times now, and both experiences were uniqely 5 stars, so it's time to write a review! SERVICE: Shoutout to Artem, who has been our waiter both times. He was so attentive, friendly, and helpful. The menu here changes so when we came a second time, we didn't see our faves-- he was so flexible and helped us get our fave pizza even though it was off menu! FOOD: The pasta here is insane! Portions are good for 1-2 people, I actually ate the whole bowl myself (hehe!). I've tried both their lemon pasta and their pesto. The pesto reminded me of a green goddess sauce, full of veggies and so light. The pizzas were also excellent, our favorite is the Amatriciana. I also loved their Funghi pizza which was crisp and full of flavor. I would reccomend asking your waiter for the hot pizza oil for a spicy drizzle. AMBIENCE: The outdoor terrace is so quaint and cute, with lots of trees and plants to make you forget you're even near the street. The interior is also adorable with lots of blue and gold detailing.
After spending the morning in a baking class with my niece, we decided to grab some pizza. I knew she enjoyed it, and since she had never been to Pizzeria Delfina — it felt like the perfect choice for our girls’ lunch. I first discovered them at their original San Francisco location 15 years ago, and later enjoyed meals at their Palo Alto spot. It’s been a while since I’d been back, mostly because there are so many other dining options when I’m in Palo Alto. But today felt like the right time to revisit, and introduce her to it. When we arrived, the interior was under construction, but their patio was open with heaters, so we sat outside. We were definitely hungry, so we ordered a farm-to-table salad, their famous meatballs as an appetizer, and then shared a pizza. Both my niece and I agreed — the crust was fantastic. As someone who travels to Italy frequently for work and has had the pleasure of trying many authentic pizzas there, I can confidently say that Pizzeria Delfina’s crust holds its own. It was thin, crispy, chewy, and packed with flavor — just perfect. My niece, who is becoming quite the budding foodie herself, really loved it too. I’m sure she’ll be back, and I’m so happy we shared this experience. Parking in Los Gatos can be hit or miss, depending on the time of day, but we were lucky and found a spot nearby. The restaurant is located right off the main street, with parking lots close by. The vibe is upscale casual — nothing stuffy — and sometimes it’s just nice to enjoy a simple, delicious meal that isn’t overly complicated. Service was wonderful: attentive, knowledgeable, and perfectly paced. We’ll definitely be returning more often — highly recommend!
A friend brought me to this restaurant and I enjoyed the food so much that I took my family back there a few days later. The pizzas were excellent! The crust was so light and crispy. I feel this was the best pizza crust I've ever had! The appetizers were all so good. The restaurant appeared to be under renovation so there was only seating outside which was nice still. The server was great to make recommendations and was pleasant. I will definitely return when I visit the area again.
The pizzas here are excellent! We tried the pepperoni and mushroom pizzas, and both were delicious. You can taste the quality of ingredients. However, the cauliflower appetizer, recently added to the menu, was a bit underwhelming—it tasted like plain roasted cauliflower. What I love most about this place is the ambiance and design, both indoors and in the outdoor seating area. It’s especially nice to visit in the summer and enjoy the outdoor space and some good beer.
We met up with friends to share a meal, craving a thin crust pizza. We ordered salsiccia pizza, pomodoro spaghetti, melon pazzo, tiramisu, and buttermilk panna cotta. The meal was tasty and full of surprises. We liked the thin crust, and the spaghetti was great as well. The tiramisu was a favorite. Service was nice, there were spices to add if you want more of a kick. It will be fun to try other pizzas and appetizers.
This is an expensive place but with good food. Pizza and pastas were thin crust and with great toppings. The bruschetta was tangy and the Arugula complimented it. We had Tiramisu for desert. Tasty. Service was excellent. Drinks were also liked except for the ice tea which tasted like water. The other thing I did not like was that we were seated right at the entrance with people coming and going. Parking is difficult in this neighborhood
Angelo & Franco Burrata 4 arugula, bitter; crostini, large, thick, crunchy, olive oil; one burrata ball, fresh, creamy, juicy, spreads well on bread, finish with salt & pepper Zuppa: Butter Bean & Escarole 4 soup, pancetta, chili; too many beans, not enough soup, flavorful, not spicy Saffron Arancini 3 deep fried saffron rice ball, cheesy, saffron flavor Mortadella Pie Pizza 3 cheese, pepper, onions, medium flavorful Salsiccia Pizza 4 thin, slightly soggy; sausage, sweet pepper, onions, mozzarella, tomato sauce, flavorful Panna Cotta 5 kumquat slices, citrus; pistachio crumbs; super creamy, refreshing, flavorful, not too sweet
Went here with family for dinner recently to get some pizza. We shared 2 different pizzas. Both were really good, and had great flavor. Service was fast and pizzas came out pretty quick. My only concern I had there was a table next to us that they decided to split into 2 tables for 2 different groups. They placed the table so close to our table that I couldn't get out and unfortunately had to ask the table to move there table....im a petite size so for any other person it would have been extremely uncomfortable. I hate that I had to ruin the dinner of the table next to us.
A great Neapolitan pizza restaurant that also serves other Italian foods in downtown Palo Alto. The margarita DOP and Salciccia pizzas were outstanding, although the edge of the crust seems slightly dry. We also tried the Maiale al Latte dish (milk-braised Berkshire pork with very creamy cheesy polenta). The pork was fork tender and full of flavor. It was a very good and rich dish. Serving staff were all very friendly. We sat outside in the garden on a sunny afternoon and it was very pleasant. Price is not inexpensive (they automatically add 5% service fee due to employer mandate), but overall it was a very enjoyable experience.
Not impressed. Before you eat have a look around. Walk around and see what other guest are eating. You’ll notice piles of crust sitting on plates. No one wants to eat the crust. If people don’t even want to eat the crust how good can this pizza really be??? The dough needs work. I don’t like crust either when I buy cheap pizza. My experience just was not fulfilling. I’ll pass.
For me, restaurants have an intangible quality that keeps you coming back. It’s not always just about the food, but the combination of atmosphere, food, and service. In this case, the setting was wonderful (a beautiful evening in the outdoor dining garden) and the food was tasty, but the service unfortunately cast a shadow over the experience. We had a simple order—four pizzas, drinks, and appetizers. The order came out wrong, which can happen, but the server was dismissive about it. Throughout the meal, we had to flag her down for small things (water, olive oil, etc.) as she never checked back. She seemed competent but didn’t follow through. Not wanting to make a fuss, we let it go—but it shifted the focus of the evening from conversation to waiting until everyone had what they needed before eating. This is a popular restaurant in a prime location with great food—and they add a mandatory 5% charge to every check. One would expect that to translate into attentive service. Unfortunately, in our case, it didn’t.
Came here while downtown. Looking for a pizza place. Came here based off Google star reviews. I understand this place is catering to a higher class given the area. But honestly, the worst pizza I've ever had. At $26+ for a small/medium pizza i had high expectations. I just got a basic pepperoni. There was little to no flavor, hardly any sauce and it was super watery. Little cheese and super thin and tasteless pepperoni. Toppings/cheese just slide off the pooled up water red sauce and thin crust. There are many raves in the reviews. Just my personal experience/opinion. Give it a try 🤷🏻♂️
Pretty disappointing experience at Pizzeria Delfina in Palo Alto. We were there for over an hour and got 0 service. No one checked on us, filled up the water or anything. The other locations up in SF are great, but the one in Palo Alto was pretty bad today. Also, we ordered the carbonara pizza and it was literally just pizza with a lot of egg. Some of the egg didn’t seem cooked all the way through either. Overall pretty disappointed and won’t be coming back.
Weird employees, not a single Italian. The pizza is fraudulent. It pretends to be a fresh southern itallian but theres no flavor. The crust tasted like cherios. If you want a good pizza and to be treated with any respect at all go anywhere else. The price here is crazy high for what they offer. Fake fine dining.
The food was excellent, BUT I urge customers to double-check their credit card statements against their receipts. I discovered that the tip amount entered into their system was higher than what I had authorized on my signed copy. Despite multiple attempts to call the restaurant to resolve this, no one has answered the phone. It’s disappointing to have a great meal overshadowed by unauthorized charges. I am not going back again
