The 26 letters of the English language seem measly when trying to form any sentence adequate enough to express my true love for Allechant. I know that’s an outrageous statement, but everything this place offers—the incredible food, the amazing people and management, the wonderful atmosphere—makes it the best restaurant in Ithaca, bar-none. My partner and I have probably been to Allechant 20+ times in the past two years, and it never disappoints. The brunch menu is full of fantastic staples and seasonal takes, the dinner menu is inventive and substantial, the desserts are to die for, and the serving sizes are perfect (you always feel satisfied, but rarely like you’ve over-eaten). Plus, the coffee and chai are among some of the best we’ve had locally, and the wine selection is solid, too. Plus. (And a big plus here.) The workers are INCREDIBLE!!! Seeing Matt and Katie truly brightens our week whenever we come by. Wherever we go, Allechant will always be in our hearts, and we cannot recommend this place enough.
Always an amazing experience. The French toast and eclairs are delicious. We also tried the omelette (with I think parsley and bacon?) today and it was the best omelette we’ve ever had, period.
Within a matter of minutes, Allechant became our favorite restaurant in Ithaca. We were greeted by the owner, Reeve, who went out of his way to find us a table despite our lack of reservation. This was followed by a 20-minute get-to-know-you "interview" which was really delightful. The menu, comprised of about 10 gourmet dishes were so enticing, we could not decide what to order. I got the Eggs Edinborough (which is a salmon variation on Eggs Benedict), my daughter got the Lemon Souffle Pancakes. Both "Food Channel" quality dishes: unique, fresh, seasoned to perfection, beautifully plated, and delicious! The waitstaff was also remarkably friendly and helpful. We look forward to becoming regular customers, which will give us the opportunity to enjoy the other menu items.
A fantastic little restaurant. The small kitchen puts out some amazing food. The poached eggs were perfect. The espresso was wonderful and had some nice dark chocolate flavors. The Belgian hot chocolate was the best I have had. Extremely dog friendly.
I rarely write reviews, but this evening I feel compelled to. We stumbled upon this place by pure chance after meeting a friend for a hike. We are so very glad we did! Incredible flavors and beautiful presentations. Friendly, attentive service and fun trivia about the food and local history. I live a solid hour away and I will be back very soon! Keep up the fantastic work!
This is such an amazing addition to Ithaca’s restaurant scene. The food is fresh and classically prepared. It’s a special dinner out, complete with a homey fireplace
Alléchant is my new favorite spot. Brunch was delicious and perfectly executed! We were seated outside in the courtyard, appropriately distanced. The staff were friendly, and professional. They were masked and the tables were sanitized as soon as guests left the area.
My husband and I tried this place for our first time today for brunch. The brunch menu was great with fantastic choices. It was honestly hard to pick. Mary was our server. She was friendly, attentive, and accommodating. The food did not disappoint. Everything was timely, unique, and delicious. We will definitely return. This is a wonderful place to visit. I highly recommend trying this restaurant!
Went here for a quick Easter brunch with my boyfriend, the staff and owner were so lovely, and the place has such a beautiful atmosphere! We started with the Belgian Hot Chocolate, which tasted like melted dark chocolate - so rich! For entrees, I ordered the Lemon Soufflé Pancakes and my boyfriend got the Eggs Benedict Fiesole. The pancakes were incredibly light and airy, subtley-sweet (which is exactly what I was looking for!) with the perfect amount of lemon - practically melted in my mouth! The benedict was delicious as well (he ate most of it aha) but from the bits I had, everything was very fresh and thoughtfully put together. I've been looking to eat here for a few months now, and it absolutely exceeded my expectations. I hope to be back soon!
The service was excellent. I went for brunch and had chicken salad on a bed of greens, a delight for my palate. A good Moscato sweetened my day. The host makes you feel welcome and at home. Thank you, Allechant, for the wonderful experience. I will definitely return on my next visit to Ithaca.
A small cozy bistro that has an excellent brunch. The bistro is tastefully decorated, and the seats are well spaced out. The staff is attentive and friendly. Reservations are strongly recommended. We had the waffle, with pecans, pear, and cinnamon honey butter and Eggs Edinburgh. They were delicious and the portions just right. Te OJ was freshly squeezed, and the hot chocolate was a tad too sweet but chocolaty. Do note the very unusual opening hours. The bistro is opened on Thursday to Saturday from 5.30pm to 9pm and on Sunday from 10am to 2pm.
Excellent service. I went for brunch, starting with a chai latte. They have the best chai latte, truly exquisite. I had a special omelet with pesto and Italian chorizo, a formidable mix of flavors. To end I had a delicious eclair. I will definitely return.
Very friendly staff, nice ambiance, excellent food. The omelet had an unexpected but awesome freshness and depth from the added lemon, amazing textures and flavors in the dessert. Renia made the best cappuccino I've had in a while. Would definitely comeback.
Had an amazing time here! Enjoyed the eggs Edinburgh for myself and shared the sweet toast éclair with friends. Food tastes like it it made with high quality ingredients. Sat outside and enjoyed the lovely weather with my dog. Highly recommend coming here and making reservations in advance. Owner is incredibly kind and welcoming, servers are great too.
Very cute brunch spot. The food and service were delicious. The coffee was excellent and I am very excited to go back for dinner. I got the eggs Benedict with a side of potatoes. Everything was seasoned perfectly. Also to note, the orange juice was incredible. Fresh squeezed and delicious.
Delightful atmosphere…. patio like a quick trip to France Deliceux! Picture perfect! Service impeccable.

One of those places you just can’t stop visiting. The food is always delicious. Highly recommend!

Simple yet refined French food, served in an ambience that carries Ithaca’s warmth—that’s how we’d sum up Allechant. The staff made us feel right at home, and enjoying brunch outdoors was the perfect beginning for us to a sunny fall day. Make early reservations to skip the wait. We tried the quiche lorraine, lemon souffle pancakes, coffee and mimosa. All of them were good, we especially liked the quiche and the mimosa.

Wonderful dinner at Allechant yet again. Gorgeous atmosphere, phenomenal service (Jamie was great!), and the food was top notch. Mussels and charcuterie to start, risotto for entree, and blackberry lemon cake and chocolate cake for dessert. Can’t wait to come back!
Good lunch spot. I wish they could serve breakfast all day and maybe have a few more vegetarian options maybe with tofu. I will go back one day because the desserts were delicious!
Good food, but not fantastic. Desserts are really good, mussels too salty but the fries on the steak frites was very good but the steak was mid. Gnocchi also mid. Service very slow but servers very nice. We were seated next to the kitchen and it was very stuffy and difficult to breathe.

I’ve been to this place three times, and it only gets worse. The second visit gave me food poisoning, and giving them another chance was a huge mistake. My last visit on Saturday noon, 9/13/2025, was the final straw. Everything, including the glassware, reeks of rotten egg. The food is outrageously overpriced, my husband and I spent $60 on a pancake and an omelet, and it was not worth a penny. Zero stars if I could!
