Preguntas frecuentes sobre Star Leaf
Opiniones de Star Leaf Pasadena
Star Leaf in Pasadena absolutely delivered. Food: We ordered a wide variety of dishes and were really impressed by both execution and balance across the menu. * Bakka Wild Salmon in Thai Vinaigrette (8 pcs) - Bright, clean, and incredibly refreshing. The flavors complement the salmon perfectly without overpowering it. 10/10, tied with the short ribs as my favorite dish of the night. * Night Market Shichimi Tofu - A fun and well-executed dish with a crispy exterior and a gooey, soft center. Great contrast in texture and an enjoyable bite from start to finish. * Thai Royal Curry with Soft-Shell Crab - Rich, comforting, and full of depth. The curry was flavorful with just the right amount of warmth, and the soft-shell crab held up nicely. A solid dish overall. * Madame Noi's Pork Collar - I can see why this is a best seller. While it was still very good, it ended up being my least favorite dish of the night simply because everything else stood out more. I wouldn't order it again, but it's still worth trying. * Crispy Short Rib with Lime - An absolute 10/10 and the star of the show. Perfectly cooked, deeply flavorful, and incredibly satisfying. I would come back time and time again just for this dish and the salmon alone. Service: Service was excellent from start to finish. Jojo greeted us with genuine enthusiasm, got us seated right away, and immediately made us feel welcome. Once she found out it was our first time, she was eager to answer questions and help guide us through the menu. Our server, Deja, was equally awesome -- attentive, quick, and extremely informative. Her recommendations were spot on and truly elevated the entire dining experience. Ambiance: The space is beautiful and well thought out, with a warm, elevated vibe that still feels comfortable and inviting. It's a great setting for a relaxed date night or a special dinner without feeling overly formal.
Star Leaf is a beautiful spot in Pasadena with a modern, stylish vibe. The staff was attentive and friendly, and I really appreciated the attention to detail when they explained the different dishes and ingredients throughout the meal. The food here is excellent. My favorite dish was the Chilean sea bass — perfectly cooked, soft and tender, with a sauce that tied everything together. I also really enjoyed the curry soft-shell crab; the curry sauce was flavorful and rich without being too heavy. For drinks, the Thai tea with coconut ice cream was a standout — sweet, refreshing, and something I’d definitely order again. Overall, Star Leaf delivered on both quality and atmosphere. Between the beautiful interior, thoughtful service, and delicious food, I’d recommend it to anyone looking for a great dining experience in Pasadena.
Came here for lunch with the family, we order five dishes in total we got the shrimp cake, the softshell crab, the fried rice, the pork collar, and the string beans. The food was delicious and we finished everything, our fav was the fried rice and the pork collar. We will def be back to try other things on the menu. The atmosphere and decor coordinates to the Thai theme and very relaxed and easy-going, great for lunch or dinner.
Great restaurant, service and atmosphere. On a vibrant part of town in Pasadena, CA. Would call it Old Pasadena. Within walking distance to nice restaurants, boutique stores and other popular stores and hotels. This is my 2nd time of visiting this restaurant and food taste, presentation, service and atmosphere have been consistently great. Staff are pleasant, and polite. Restrooms are nice and nicely decorated. Road side parking and valet is available, but again, it’s within walking distance of great hotels. Will definitely be back. Athena was our hostess tonight- thanks for the great service.
This place is gorgeous - lovely ambience, delicious food that almost feels like it should cost more than it does (we did a lunch special with app and main for $25), and service with a smile. Our table ordered: Starters: - Bakka wild salmon in Thai vinaigrette - Spicy tom yum soup - Tropical mango fish Mains: - Thai royal curry with crispy soft shell crab - Royal crown fried rice - Truffle wok seared noodles There was so much food - the 3 of us were mostly full after the starters, which were ALL so so good. My favorite personally was the salmon, but honestly I would eat any of them all day any day. The soup actually came with at least 2 mussels and a huge prawn, mango fish came with a delicious mango puree sauce and a refreshing papaya salad. Out of our mains, my favorite was hands down the curry with soft shell crab. Crab was sooooo crispy! The Royal crown fried rice was very flavorful too - I would never have thought about topping fried rice with masago but it was so good, added a nice crunch. Truffle wok seared noodles were delicious too but got outshone by the others. If you have time to drop by for the lunch special, I highly recommend it! It's a fantastic deal and pricing is relatively affordable for the quality of the food. Oh man... I forgot to take a pic of the salmon, I guess it was that good...
It’s recommended to make a reservation ahead of time. We didn’t, but fortunately, they welcomed us, which we really appreciated. We tried three dishes: Royal Crown Fried Rice, Madame Noi’s Pork Collar, and the Tropical Panna Cotta Coconut Bowl. Each dish was unique, flavorful, and beautifully presented. The restaurant has a lovely ambiance with a comfortable dining environment, and the service was attentive and friendly. Prices are on the higher side (around $50+ per person), but the overall experience is absolutely worth it. Highly recommended for a special occasion!
Came with a large group for a Yelp event and got to try several of their dishes. We started with the Som Tom Mango Salad with Shrimp, then the Mamasan's Shrimp Cakes and then the Tom Yum Soup. They shared a very interesting backstory to the Tom Yum Soup while they were serving it. The entrees were equally solid with the Lime Steamed Chilean Sea Bass, in my opinion, taking the lead in terms of how delicious it was, but followed closely by the 12-hour braised Angus short rib. For drink, they had a very nice mix of both alcoholic and non-alcoholic choices, and I decided to go for the Thai Royal Milk Tea with Coconut Ice Cream one. The dessert was Pink Mekong, which, they shared, was their specialty. The whole evening was great, they even validated parking for about an hour (the event ran from 5:30pm till around 8:00pm). The atmosphere and service are also exceptional and certainly fitting of a restaurant of this caliber.
Wonderful wait staff. Amazing, amazing delicious food. If you like Asian food at all. This is unbelievable and my friend I was with is from Thailand. All of our dishes were so fantastic. I can't pick a favorite one. I am so happy they have pandan options!!! Everything is clean and there's even a magician on the weekends. We will be back!!
Authentic Thai Flavors & Stunning Presentation! This restaurant truly impressed me with its authentic Thai flavors and stunning presentation. Every dish was thoughtfully prepared and full of bold, delicious flavors. The Royal Crown Fried Rice was a must-try! The bright orange fish roe added a nice pop of texture and umami, complementing the well-seasoned rice perfectly. The Shrimp Skewers were crispy, juicy, and packed with flavor. The sweet and spicy dipping sauce paired beautifully with the dish, and the fresh pineapple slices were a nice touch. The Pork Collar with lettuce wraps was another favorite. The meat was perfectly caramelized with a smoky glaze, and the fresh veggies and dipping sauce made each bite refreshing and flavorful. Beyond the amazing food, the service was excellent, and the ambiance was warm and inviting. Whether you’re a fan of Thai cuisine or trying it for the first time, this place is a fantastic choice! Highly recommend and will definitely be back!
No doubt the best Thai Fusion Food in Old Pasadena 🤗🤗👏👏... I love it and I think everyone should give it a try... Very delicious, the interior is top notch, service was very good
I ate here with friends and we were just looking for something different, fun and tasty. We found Star Lead and are very impressed with the staff, the food the atmosphere and service. Everyone is kind, polite and easy to work with even though we were extremely indecisive about what we wanted to eat but our waitress Daeja was extremely patient and helped us choose based on what we were craving. We ended up with the short ribs which were cooked to perfection and the meat was super tender and soft... Damn near melted like butter while eating it Lobster Lo Mein which was extremely tasty and had a full lobster tail which was great Salmon sushi which tasted phenomenal
My friends and I had a wonderful dinner here tonight. The food was outstanding—each plate was crafted with care, offering rich, vibrant flavors that made every bite enjoyable. The service was top-notch as well, the team struck the perfect balance between attentiveness and giving us space to relax. The entire staff went the extra mile to make our experience special. I’d definitely suggest this spot to anyone wanting a memorable meal!
There are restaurants where you go to eat, but Star Leaf was the exception. I was absolutely blown away by the attention to detail - from the silverware placement, to each menu item seemingly presented with its own story. I only came to eat but left with an experience that truly left me inspired. When the bar gets raised you know every other restaurant is in trouble. All of the food we tried was amazing, but surprisingly the item that stood out to me the most was the Pink Mekong dessert. Our server Cameron bust out his calm app narrative to explain to us the different elements and that’s when everything clicked into place. The Star Leaf team knew exactly what they were doing and I was seriously impressed to witness it executed even on dessert.
Star Leaf in Pasadena is an absolute culinary gem! From the moment you step inside, you're transported to a tropical paradise. The ambiance is nothing short of spectacular—think elegant colonial design with lush greenery and intricate wooden carvings that evoke the grandeur of the Raffles Hotel in Singapore. The food is a masterpiece. The Royal Crown Fried Rice is a must-try—fragrant jasmine rice topped with wild Icelandic capelin, fish roe, scallops, and shrimp . The Tom Yum Soup is simmered for 13 hours, resulting in a rich, aromatic broth . For dessert, the Pink Mekong is a showstopper—coconut cream, dragon fruit, mango, and lotus seeds served in a golden goblet with dry ice for dramatic flair. Service is impeccable. Our server, Justin, was attentive and knowledgeable, enhancing our dining experience Star Leaf is more than just a meal—it's an experience. Whether you're celebrating a special occasion or enjoying a night out, this restaurant delivers on every front. Highly recommend.

Although I miss Roy’s which used to be at this location, I’m very glad that I got to try out this restaurant. It’s definitely Asian fusion as well with various influences. I like that they offer family style (shareable) size entrees. It’s not super bright inside and they have outdoor seating as well. They don’t have a huge menu, but the food was excellent. I think my only gripe would be that they bring you a new glass each time on refillable drinks. They have a bar section as well and a happy hour menu during the week. They are on the pricier side, so it’s not likely to be an everyday eatery. Definitely a nice place for date night or to celebrate an occasion. No dedicated parking lot, but lots of options for parking in Pasadena. Easiest parking option would be behind Vroman’s or paid street parking. I believe they have a valet option on Friday and Saturday nights but I may be wrong about that

Higher end Thai fusion food that's solid. They have validated self-parking but it is only free for 1 hour. Service was pretty good Food/Drink- 4 stars The food was good, but nothing particularly superb salmon sashimi appetizer- 4.5/5. this was pretty good with a spicy kick. Good balance of flavors with tons of umami fried tofu appetizer- 4.5/5- good use of egg tofu that made the texture fantastic Thai sớm tum mango salad- 4/5- pretty good and standard 12 hour braised Angus short ribs- 4/5- pretty fatty and tender. It's pretty standard though Madame Lois pork collar- 4/5. it was a fun dish having it on lettuce wraps. Pretty standard flavors Lime steamed Chilean sea bass- 3.5/5. this was just ok. I would pass on it in the future Royal crown fried rice- 4/5. pretty good with the large amount of roe adding an extra texture to the fried rice. Truffle wok seared noodles- 4/5. Lots of flavor but a bit greasy The Pink Mekong- 4/5. Pretty good visuals. Pretty standard flavors Service- 5 stars The servers were pretty attentive throughout our meal Bottom Line It was an enjoyable experience with good food with elevated presentations. It just wasn't anything special (Flavor wise), from your local neighborhood Thai restaurant. The restaurant has a beautiful decor and cool atmosphere, and it's a cool spot if you're around the Old Town Pasadena area. However, I wouldn't go out of my way to go.
How much can a place impress you before you decide this is the standard it should be? Star Leaf is a Thai restaurant that popped onto the scene in Pasadena just a year ago and from its introduction to Southern California it has seen a slew of satisfied diners. Though I'm usually not a fan of high priced Thai food it didn't take long for the place to win me over. Let me tell you why Star Leaf is worth your appetite. Design - Modern Meets Palace With a large fire, stone elephants, and a water display just at the entrance of this restaurant you get a feeling of grandeur before even entering the building. Once inside, you start to see the styling is a mixture of old world with modern touches. The tables for two have large analog lamps floating above them. The booths have black leather and rich wood materials. The kitchen is open for all to see. The interior is dark enough to create intimate dining within each party, but bright enough to see what is going on on the dining room floor. Their menu also needs to be highlighted because not only do they have a menu listing their food in texts, but also a large photo book showcasing each dish visually. If we eat with our eyes then this menu is a trailer for great things to come. An extensive drink menu also arrives and Star Leaf is a restaurant where drinks should be tried. I highly recommend their mango sticky rice cocktail, with or without alcohol. It was a highlight and one I'll remember for a long time. Food - Grand Ideas with Mostly Delivered Results We went through an extensive amount of food and instead of detailing each of them let me give you the highlights and lowlights. Highlights - The grilled lamb chops were phenomenal. Grilled perfectly with barely any pink, the meat was so tender you could pull the meat off the bone without resistance. The minted chimichurri sauce next to it is exquisite and worth diving a forkful of lamb each and every time. A balance of fresh, sweet, and savory this amazing sauce could make anything taste better. Paired with a perfectly grilled lamb and you have one of the best bites you'll ever taste. The Thai Royal Curry with shrimp was amazing. Large, plump, meaty shrimp bigger than your spoon fills this savory and flavorful curry. Paired with a crusty outside, pillowy inside bread and you have a dish truly making you feel like royalty. The Bakka Wild Salmon in Thai vinaigrette is an amazing starter. The sweetness of the sauce reminds me of a semi-sweet aji sauce with a slight kick at the end to let you know you're alive. It was just the right amount of taste to tease your appetite and start you off right for your dinner. Finally, I would be remise if I didn't bring up my favorite drink, the mango sticky rice cocktail. This drink is made of fresh mango, condensed milk, pandan infused oat, and coconut milk. It feels like drinking a creamy version of the dish and it is well received after taking in so much spice from the mains. An oasis for the taste buds and one you'll be dreaming about long after the meal is finished. Lowlights - The Crying Tiger salad really doesn't feel worth the money. Essentially a spring mix with a vinaigrette and a protein of your choice the salad isn't terrible, but compared to everything else on the menu this isn't worth any of your appetite or money. The desserts are all sweet and will fulfill that desire at the end of your meal, but compared to everything else it feels a bit flat. Often too sweet or just okay, the best item might be a scoop of their pandan ice cream. Conclusion A well thought out menu with warm staff, well designed interior, and an energy that's exciting for those involved, Star Leaf is a restaurant unlike others and worth the try. Though by no means will the bill be under $100 for two people, the quality of the experience will be worth every dollar. Perfect for dates and special occasions, Star Leaf is a must try Thai restaurant in Pasadena.
Service and atmosphere were 5/5. The food was 3/5, but we will come back here again to see if that changes! When we came here, they did not have the truffle oil needed for a couple of the dishes, and I feel like that did affect the truffle noodles, in particular, which was missing something. The Royal Curry was good, but you have to eat it with the French bread because the garlic butter on the bread added to the flavor. If you eat it with white rice, it feels like it's missing notes. The appetizers were great, the rolls and the salad tasted refreshing.

The Royal Curry was good, but you have to eat it with the French bread because the garlic butter on the bread added to the flavor. If you eat it with white rice, it feels like it's missing notes. The appetizers were great, the rolls and the salad tasted refreshing.
Went there twice, and second time was actually for my mom's birthday. The service and food were outstanding. Just pretty disappointed because they ran out of dry ice for the pretty dessert… my mom was quite sad that she couldn't see it.
Good spot for the experience. We ordered Tom yum mushroom, royal fried rice, Asian ribeye and Harvest Spritz (mocktail). The only standouts were the ribeye and the mocktail spritz. The cilantro slaw and pineapple has no business on the plate with the ribeye. I get they have a theme, perhaps papaya salad would do better one the side or none at all. The ribeye we got could hold up on its own, but the accompaniments brought the dish down. Mocktail spritz was beautiful, tasty and festive. The other dishes were forgettable and unremarkable. Beautiful spot and full-service. I’d come here for the vibes, a drink and maybe some appetizers and steak. Not so much for Thai food.

My Fiancé and I wanted to try something new for Valentine's Day, and we decided on Star Leaf. We had been very excited to try this upscale Thai restaurant, but we had no idea what we got ourselves into. Firstly, the ambiance is nice and we had a good first impression with the hosts. However issues arose when our Server, Justin, started taking orders. I noted that my Fiancé is pregnant. We ordered the Bakka Salmon and did not know it was going to be raw since it wasn't labeled on the menu and I felt that as a server he should have let us know. We didn't want to cause any issues since this is our Valentines Date, and we just tried to enjoy everything else. Then, our complimentary bread came, half way through our meal. Instead of taking accountability and saying he forgot, he instead made it sound like he was doing us a favor by saying, " here's the bread for the little guy" - to my son. We were appalled by his behavior at this supposed "upscale restaurant". Nonetheless, we started our dessert course. We had 2 options, and the ran out of the mango sticky rice, which is what we wanted, so we had no choice but to go with the panna cotta even though my fiancé doesn't eat coconut. This is when the real issue came up that basically ruined the night for me and my fiancé. We went ahead and got the check, and he was hovering over me as I typed in my tip amount on the card reader. My check came out to $166.87 before tax and I wanted to tip 10% for the lackluster service, and he went ahead and said I have to do minimum 18% otherwise he would be *forced to pay the difference according to their company policy..? if I don't pay 18% which was about $26. Then we proceeded to state our issues, and my fiancé began by noting she didn't know the salmon would be raw and that he should have told us about it. He then said, "well it's not my fault, why should I be penalized for it". I was just stunned he would say that to my fiancé on Valentine's Day, and he proceeded to get his manager to reverse my tip so he can get his 18%. I then said " well, you should have told us the salmon is raw when we ordered knowing my fiancé is pregnant, and he said, " you should have looked on the menu, it says it on there". The menu is attached, it doesn't say anything about it being raw. This Server, Justin, has got to be the worst server I've ever interacted with, and I go to dimsum places often. He does not take accountability, talked back to my fiancé, strong-armed us to a higher tip, saying he would have to pay the difference if I didn't do the 18%. Why would you tell a dining customer that? Why is he working in service if he just likes to argue? Anyways safe to say I'll probably never come back and I'll be sure to tell all my friends and family about this experience. Thanks Justin!
We went there for lunch and it was our first time too. I loved the atmosphere, the service was great but the foods didn’t impress me. I didn’t eat much at all. I only loved a complimentary prawns cracker. If the foods were great, this restaurant would have had a long queue out of the door or must make reservations in advance because it is very pretty inside. I hope the food will improve and the owner read the feedback. The bathroom is clean like a high end hotel. Overall I had a great experience.
