Z'Tejas Paradise Valley

First time! Chicken avocado sandwich with fries was a delicious lunch. Our young gentleman who was our waiter was superb. He recommended the chocolate pecan pie with homemade whipping cream!! Awesome!

Vegetarian mac n cheese was great. Smoked children relleno. Both so much flavor. Our server was a youth man and he was friendly and right on top of everything. Was a great spontaneous night out.

This is my favorite restaurant of all times. The food is incredible, the margaritas are the vest ever, but the best part is the staff. From Julia, to Stephanie, to Patrick ans on and on this is the best staff you will ever experience.

Service was good. We had the Tableside guacamole and were pleasantly surprised to have an option to substitute veggies for chips and get a generous amount of sliced zucchini, celery, carrots, and red peppers. This was for a fee of 2.95, however they were delicious and fresh and I was happy to pay it to get what I wanted. We also had the chorizo stuffed pork tenderloin which was delicious.

Erica is a great bartender. Very personable. I was hesitant coming back after the last snob/didn't give a s..t bartender. I'll just be calling ahead to see if Erica works. I love my Mexican food places and food is good.

Amazing service, one of our group members received tacos with beans. Which he didn't ask for. Within 5 minutes a new set of tacos had been made. Food was great!

I ordered via Postmates Grilled Salmon... It was cooked to perfection 👏.. the steamed veggies and rice we're delicious too. So I had to personally call the chef to thank him. Hopefully I made his night because it was well deserved.

The food was amazing!!! Great margaritas with a float of Chambord. Was too good. Great brunch menu. The posole is amazing. We also recommend the chile Pork Verde!!! Was the best we have had outside of what we make!! Reminds us of Albuquerque.

Very tasty cocktails, the food is very good, especially the street tacos and rice. They do have a happy hour which can save you a few dollars on certain days between 3 and 5. The wait staff is very attentive and service is fairly quick. They do serve the most delicious cornbread and butter I've ever eaten instead of chips and salsa, so that was wonderful. They do take reservations to accommodate large parties even on a Saturday at short notice, and for that I am grateful and will return.

This is one of the best restaurants in the valley. My wife I would frequent them as much as possible but we have to seriously restrain ourselves. The margaritas are top notch and are now the standard when comparing to other restaurants (in addition to their southwestern food). The service has always been exceptional between all staff members with great consistency. If you are reading this review and have never been, I would give them a shot, you will probably become a loyal customer like us! That fresh cornbread is so good!

The was the first time I was there. I went with a friend who was more than excited that I mentioned Z'Tejas as a place to meet. The margueritas we both ordered and the appetizers we shared were absolutely delicious. The service was extremely friendly and efficient. I came home to immediately give them a 5 Star rating, but just now have a chance to add why I gave them the 5 Stars. Would have given them 10 if I could.

This is an upscale neighborhood bar with a huge restaurant that has amazing food. If you want a great place to hang out for a cocktail for happy hour this is your place. The bartenders are spot on. The food is consistently delicious and they have a really fantastic Southwestern menu. The shrimp pasta is so good, the salmon is fabulous, the stuffed pork chops are to die for. And the appetizers are out of this world. You won't be sorry, this is a really great place to go hang out. And your go to when you can't think of any place else to go eat this one will pop into your head.

First time there, had a blast great atmosphere with really superb food and detailed about their presentation. Liquor was awesome and the seating perfect. I would highly recommend. I am going to be here many more times if my pockets allow it & of course time.

My husband took me here for our anniversary. The Paradise Valley location. I thought the service could have been quicker since they were not as busy as a weekend day but overall the food was excellent. The server was attentive, the atmosphere was cool, and the menu was reasonably priced. We would go here again in the future. ~Demi F.

New menu has changed some classics they have the same name, so if you've been coming here a while make sure to ask how your favorites might have changed. Food this time was not what we were expecting and tostada was stale and chewy. Management made up for it by being courteous and understanding.

The food was cooked and presented very well, the restaurant over all was pretty clean. The bathrooms needed some help but other than that it seemed good. Jack was out waiter and besides being very handsome he was friendly, knowledgeable, accomadating, and did his job well.

It's been quite a few years since I've been here. Food was wonderful. Service was friendly and helpful but we did wait quite a long time after we finished our meal before we saw our server again to get our bill. It was a busy Friday night.

The food was tasty, but sparse. Very surprised that the size of portions were so small. Many restaurants serve too large of portions, but I left hungry. Service was adequate, not inspiring. Overall, not bad for the money.

Unique and excellent food. The dishes with the smoked chicken are the best. The pecan encrusted chicken salad is also outstanding. Would be 5 stars except the service was slow and the portions somewhat small.

Ambiance was good. Value was good. Service was inconsistent and below expectations. Food presentation was good. Entrees we're tasty but didn't wow me. I would give 3.5 stars if given the opportunity.

Food and service was excellent. We waited a noticeable length of time for our dessert; however we were with family from out of town, so we had more time to converse. We sat out on the patio where the tables were a nice distance apart. The frozen margaritas (at happy hour price) were excellent too.

Outstanding service, delicious food, and beautiful environment. The bathrooms were a little dirty and there were spicy bombs in our food (meaning the menu didn't necessarily say it was a spicy dish yet random bites contained spicyness. I didn't mind with my smothered burrito but my lady friend wasn't thrilled with the pumpkin chicken enchiladas. Overall it's was a pleasant experience. I'd come back!

Decent place that's dependable, with a decent happy hour menu. But the beer selection is pretty small. I had the barbacoa pork enchiladas, which were good, but certainly not that memorable or spectacular. But I've never had a bad meal here, it's very consistent.

Food is decent. Atmosphere is quiet yet basic. Prices are average, unless ordering Steak . Margheritas are small but potent. One rep didn't know how to make a Martini. 3 out of 5 stars.

Breakfast burrito was full of potatoes. Then they gave me potatoes on the side. Couldn't taste any flavor of any kind . Salsa had no flavor. Bacon cheeseburgers looked good . Would not go back for just an overpriced cheese burger

The service was great. The food was okay. Nothing special. Ordered the chicken fried rib eye steak. It was tough and over cooked and actually made a good piece of meat taste terrible. They stopped serving the corn bread which has always brought me back to return to this restaurant. Now you have to pay $4.00. The proceeds goes to charity, but it used to be free. Now they serve chips and salsa. However, the salsa was fantastic. I will think about returning.

The food was ok but the service was extremely slow. We were seated in what felt like a cluster even though the place was not busy and there were plenty of open tables. The waiter was inattentive and slow. He didn't even ask if we wanted dessert. The fish tacos could have used a creamy lime and cilantro raise because they were dry. The black beans and cornbread were good. But overall, the experience was disappointing.

I had come here occasionally over the past few years but this visit, despite not being busy, was miserable. The was the longest wait for everything, starting from a greeting - I almost left! The entire visit was awful. I only tipped 10 percent, which I NEVER do. The bartender didn't even introduce himself. Very unimpressed.

Not the z Tejas that I remember. Margaritas are still good. Service was great. However the portions were INCREDIBLY small....$3 street tacos the size of basically a silver dollar? $20 fajitas with barely any meat? Yes very disappointed in the food protons to say the least....

Very nice restaurant as far as design. Delicious cornbread. However I ordered chicken enchiladas. The beans were dried out and had adhered to the plate. The enchilada sauce was dried out. It appeared as though it had been under a heat lamp for some time. The enchiladas were awful. Not the best experience.

Ordered the Five Cheese Macaroni and Achiote Chicken which is my go to dish there. Was not able to get the Achiote Chicken for some reason. Had to choose from a selection of other types of chicken. Portion size was much smaller than it used to be even though they still charge the same price. And the taste and quality was not as good as it used to be. Sat outside on the patio. Service was fine.

My husband and I came here one night for dinner and were pretty disappointed with our experience. The tacos tasted great, but the rest of our order was pretty bland. We were seated right at the entrance and were next to all of the foot traffic coming through. There were several managers standing near us watching over all the staff members which was very distracting for us. I would say it's not worth it for the price. Much prefer Julio J's!

Worst service I've received in a very long time. We went for Sunday lunch/brunch. There were four tables in the whole restaurant. We waited 3 to 4 minutes to be seated. We waited 8 to 10 to be greeted and order drinks. We waited another 18 minutes to order food. When the food came we had empty drinks, no silverware and we had to actually ask for these items from someone dressed like a manager. The food was mediocre at best. Incredibly disappointed.

The one star is because my kids seemed to really love their lemonade. My margarita was way too strong, not smooth or delicious in any way. The food was nothing I would ever recommend to anybody I am fond of. The tortilla soup was barely warm and because I'm familiar with what happens in a restaurant kitchen, I refrained from requesting a replacement. My husband's taco plate was nothing special. Customer service started off ok but then took too long in between drink orders and food delivery. It is amazing to me how these places are rated so high. This may work as a drinking meet up, but if you are looking for some good grub...I suggest you keep driving. I miss Papi Chulo's.

I used to like it here, just went today. They took the amazing long time Trout dish off the menu, and the Salmon was so full of sugar coating crust, it was horrid. I have given up on Z'Tejas as of today. I supported them even after they closed many locations, but today, the service was awful, and the food was awful. This is only the 2nd restaurant review I have ever done.

Food was mediocre, hostess was incredibly rude claiming she called us to tell us items were unavailable in our takeout order, when we in fact never received a call. Took at least 6 attempts to get someone to even answer the phone even though we were sitting in the car out front and could see her ignoring the phone. Then once we finally had it resolved and changed our order, she got mad when we went in to grab the food because we were “supposed to call her to have it brought out” even though we’d called many times, and already been sitting there for 30 minutes. Terrible customer service and very unapologetic. Will never be ordering from there again.

Not a good visit. I don't know if it's difficulty reopening after covid or what but the service was slow and the food was horrible. Way too much salt and the flavor tasted fake somehow. Even worse both my wife and I had to literally run to the bathroom when the stomach cramps hit. The resulting gastrointestinal issues would be with us the rest of the afternoon. Avoid at all costs.

We stopped by last Saturday morning for brunch to celebrate a birthday. Our main reasoning for stopping by was for their supposed Bloody Mary and Mimosa bar. Well that wasn't even an option. We decided to start off with some chips and salsa. My friend ordered a salsa trio that she has ordered in the past. Three different salsas with different heat levels. What we received instead was queso and guac. We weren't upset about it, just not what we ordered. When we asked the waitress if there were any other salsas she could bring out, she offered Cholula and Tabasco. And finally, our brunch entrees just had no flavor whatsoever. I ordered the Green Chili Pork Benedict, the potatoes on the side were cold which was really odd considering we were the first customers in the restaurant after they opened. It's just not worth spending your money. The best thing on the menu was the $3 mimosa

They cannot get to go orders right to save their lives. Customer service horrible. Front of the house completely unmanned. They do things right by accident. Panic mode is default. Horrible horrible horrible. Avoid at all costs. Update: their second attempt was missing a third of what we ordered, and what we did get was prepared incorrectly, even though the alleged GM promised that our order was right. Two scoops of vanilla ice cream was supposed to make it right. Please, don’t waste your time or money.

Do not go to this place on Friday or Saturday unless you like RUDE and UNFRIENDLY bartenders or whenever JASON (one of the managers) is working. He is less than concerned about the UNFRIENDLINESS and RUDENESS of the bartenders ( CHRIS and the other GUY) will update his name. JASON seemed to want to spin the concern and undermine my complaint about how RUDE they addressed me and downright UNFRIENDLY service I received ( if you can call it that ). He simply did not want to here it. NOTE: so the manager doesn't spin it again- they are always RUDE and UNFRIENDLY- finally felt I had to say something. They will be happy to hear I will not make that mistake again.- For Owners information- most people know they are UNFRIENDLY and RUDE but do not say anything. I have only been in business 35 years and know a little something about good help. These 3 Amigos aren't good for your business. Did I mention RUDE AND UN FRIENDLY. I personally would fire the 3 of them based on the LACK of professional interaction and LACK of customer service /people skills. However come when the REAL bartender is working MARTIE (Sunday, Monday and Wednesday) -he will promptly serve you with respect and friendliness. I have been coming here for 11 years and MARTIE has NEVER been rude and has ALWAYS treated me with respect and dignity. He is very personable and friendly -( Knows how to talk to customers ). There is a REASON everyone loves MARTIE- CLUE
