I was finished for work on a Friday and had to taste for some fish. I found this place not too far from the downtown Sacramento area that was under new management. Big fish has a great assortment of fried fish with homemade sauces. I ended up ordering the fried fish with oysters. The weight didn't take too long and I decided to have my meal in the restaurant . Patricia arrived with homemade tartar sauce and homemade cocktail sauce. There was also malt vinegar on the table. The plate came with nice leaf-sized oysters a lemon along with fried onion rings. I really appreciate that the batter was very light and crispy. The fish was very fresh and flaky. I could appreciate that it was fried in New oil. The restaurant didn't have the AC on however there was a cooler blowing which kept the temperature nice. Overall I definitely would come back to try some of the other things on the menu.
Fish was fresh and great taste. Batter was perfectly crispy. Onion rings and fried zucchini was excellent also! Definitely will come back whenever I'm in Sacramento!
Big Fish is a fantastic new spot in East Sacramento! The fish and chips are crispy, golden, and super fresh but honestly, my favorite thing on the menu is the fish tacos. They’re packed with flavor, and that spicy tartar sauce they use? Absolute perfection. The place has been totally cleaned up and has a fresh, welcoming vibe. You can tell the new owner really cares not just about the food, but about the whole experience. He’s super friendly and provides amazing service every time I stop by. The quality of the fish is excellent, portions are generous, and everything tastes like it was made with care. Definitely a new favorite in town!
Nathan is cool. The fish and chips are fresh and hot. Relaxed vibe and casual eating. Coming from San Francisco, and not being a big seafood lover, this place connected the dots for me. Vinegar, salt, and succulent fish under a crispy batter. So good.
This restaurant was incredible! I just love it here! When you first walk in you are greeted by the owner and smiling faces. It’s an amazing atmosphere (I just felt so happy walking in) with such positive energy it’s contagious! I just loved my experience and the food was incredible and the soda was fresh and crispy not flat at all it was just so lovely. This place is great! My server took my order and fried up some fresh made to order fish, shrimp, zucchini, onion ring and chips. Served with a side of tartar sauce. Options for malt vinegar and other condiments. Really good fry, crisp, light and piping hot! I’d love to see some options for mushy peas or lemon slices to add acidity and color to compliment this great fry
On my first visit, I dined there. Quiet, clean atmosphere. Food was immaculate! Flaky, fresh fish piping hot and full of flavor! Fries were hot and lightly salted. My second time I had someone pick up my order and they were impressed by the quality and quantity of portions for a small fee! Once again they didn’t disappoint unlike the last fish and chips place I visited. Definitely a must have! Great selection of craft beverages and I recommend the Black cherry cream soda if you indulge in such things!
Big Fish truly is a GEM of East Sac! Cleanest and freshest fish and chips in town. Fish is perfectly seasoned, batter is made fresh, prawns are deveined and peeled all the way to the tail, sauces are all made in house. What more can I say!? I loved it! And don't sleep on the fried mushrooms! BEST IN TOWN!!!!
We had the 1 Fish and Chips. Very good. It came with a fried zucchini and fried onion. The place is clean and clean smelling. We will be back!
Best New Restaurant In East Sac! We have enjoyed everything and every time we’ve order from here. The ranch dressing is probably the best in the city. And the service is really great here now. NOTE: This is a totally different place than what it used to be. If you have not visited, do your self a favor and do. Great Take Out Option.
I have nothing but good things to say about this restaurant. The new management care about the quality of their food and service, and it shows. The "chips" come with a couple of surprise additional veggies, delicately breaded. The house-made condiments are all delicious. I appreciate the efforts they've taken and will be back for more!
Found this spot on a whimper and so glad we did. Food is so fresh and delightful. Clam chowder was spme of the best I ever had. Fish and chips so crispy and flaky. Customer service was amazing. Will definitely be back.
I’ve been doing a review on the best fish & chips, in Sacramento, looking for great customer service positive energy & delicious Fish & Chips. So I stopped into BIG Fish and they were true to their name grabbed a 3pc fish & chips met Nathan, great customer service and the fish & chip was awesome, highly recommended supporting this business. 👍🏾
The fish and prawns were perfect. The only deep fried food I eat is fish and chips, and this dish was cooked perfectly. Not overly greasy, and the batter was perfect. Loved the tempura style options. There's no signage yet, but it's easy to find using maps. This will be my go to fish and chips place even though it's a 20 minute longer drive than a place much closer to me.
Big Fish is so delicious! Best fish and chips I've ever had. Best tarter sauce I've ever had. The fried fish was not oily. The french fries, onion rings, and fried zucchini were all very good too. It's a lot of food for the price. The guys working there were nice. Loved it. Thanks!
If you're in the mood for fish & chips, this is your spot! Everything is incredibly fresh and prepped, then fried right in front of you. The zucchini & housemade tartar sauce are especially drool worthy, but everything is crispy and fried to perfection. Serving sizes are generous and staff are friendly too.

Went in and got the 1 piece fish for $9. Staff was extremely friendly and they gave me two full pieces of fish, an onion ring, and fried vegetable, and fries. Fantastic price for really good food and service

Amazing new fish and chips spot in East Sac with the friendliest owner! Some of the best fried zucchini I've had. Everything gets battered right in front of you so it's super fresh. Even my leftovers stayed crispy the next day!

Delicious! We ordered fish and chips combo, clams, zuchini, and hush puppies. Literally EVERYTHING was cooked perfectly to order and delicious. We were offered all the condiments that would go with our order and they were also fresh. The service was friendly and fast, the store was clean, and food was great, we'll definitely go back for more!
I think it is a fine spot. The fish was fresh and crispy, but it is not something to go back to if you don’t live nearby. It's more of a neighborhood spot that's convenient. The tartar sauce tasted like nothing, just plain mayo. However, it's AYCE tartar sauce.

They are in the same location as two previous fish and chips, but with a new name and under new management.
