This place is just the best! We had a private dinner/party upstairs and as you walk up the stairs it was like walking into a perfect Christmas wonderland. The decorations were so beautiful, and it made the whole environment feel so comfortable and cozy. All the food was so stinking good. We all loved the appetizers, and had to pace ourselves so we had room for the main course. Everything was amazing, but the cowboy steak was next level. We were all so impressed with the food, the service, and location. It really couldn't have been better.

We wandered in here on a Friday afternoon and stayed. Will return. Could be fun to consider finger food pairings, tapas style. Variety of wines are offered both domestic and foreign. Kind and friendly staff.

Very tasty pizza, salmon salad, salmon and dessert! We tried 3 flights of red wine. Next time we will come to taste white wine

Steps away from the train platform with beautiful ambience inside. Surprisingly loaded menu with perfect pairings for drinking wine. Pricey but not overly so, you get what you pay for: good quality. Apparently they've won a great big trophy for best in SJC, proudly on display and well earned. We tried the rosè flight, with other wines and nibbles. GET THE FROSÈ

This is a perfect friendship place. House salad is great; I also try sausage, was delicious,(4 dressing), green and red rostered papers! And the flatbread really good, hand made! That have a good wine and beers selection. Menu: drinks and snacks Perfect afternoon!

Was reccomended to attend this place by patrons leaving the area, they mentioned it was a "cozy" spot and great wine selection and they were 100% correct! Great spot to come with friends to sit inside or outside while chatting over appetizers and a glass, wine tasting flights, craft beer selection, extensive menu for food items, all staff members were very sweet and patient, will be back !! Thank you 5 vines !! Also the staff shared that the "5 vines" represent 5 members of a family which I absolutely adore... I love a small, family owned establishment

We tried this place for the first time over the weekend and we really liked it!! The food was great and the upstairs area was nice and cozy. We loved the ombience!! Randy, the owner, was very friendly and welcoming. I highly recommend trying this place.

The 5 course wine pairing experience was one of the best things ever. I cannot even begin to explain how tasty and fantastic everything was. I am looking forward to coming here again.

Always a pleasure coming here. Friendly staff. Family owned. Live music and small bites. Outdoor patio is wheelchair accessible. Interior is not wheelchair accessible as there are several steps down from street level. Try the “flying blind” tasting. A bit pricey, but if you guess which wines you’re drinking it’s free!!

Caprese salad and brie with pear and cranberry. Add a glass of wine and voila! A nice afternoon on their patio. Really nice place.

Me and my friend come here a few times a month and every time it's been great. The servers are super nice and remember us as soon as we sit down! I feel as if we are 20-30 years younger than the usual clientele but they always treat us with respect, and we always feel welcomed, (A bit of a rarity for this area.) Even if you don't love wine, this is a great place to stop by. It's definitely my favorite place in SJC.

We are being super picky, being from Europe. This is one of the best restaurants and wine bars we went to in the USA and we lived here for 29 years. Wines were so superior to all the wines we tried in the USA and food was fresh and great. Service was attentive too and you have « real » glass glasses. Amazing place!

Absolutely delicious and great combo to share. The wine list is also rotating bringing new flavors and of course the frosé that actually taste like wine (not sweet at all)

We recently chose this hidden gem for a book club. Their cozy and comfortable private room truly looked like a homey living room. The food was phenomenal. We tried almost all of their pizzas and they were all lick your plate level delicious. The winners were pear and smoked prosciutto and meat lovers (MUST TRY). Also tried coconut shrimp and Thai salad and they were both beyond yummy. Cannot wait to go back!

We had an amazing experience with the owner Suzy, who went above and beyond. As well as the staff and chef that helped with the event. The food was incredible, the venue decorated perfectly, and the service was worth every penny! I know this review does not exactly embody the restaurant itself but it does exemplify how great the food, wine, service, and ambiance the restaurant has.

We tried and loved the wine flight options -- Vine 5 "Grayden's Rockin Reds" ; and, Vine 1 "Randy's Mischievous Malbecs" (my fave: 2022 Adelante, for its bright blackberry notes and consistent finish). We also recommend the Green Goddess Chopped Salad, Spinach Artichoke Dip n' Chips, and the Dry-Rubbed Salmon Tacos. AND they have an Old-Fashioned 'Float' (w/ an ice cream scoop) for dessert!!

Absolutely perfect private venue. We booked the upstairs for a private party of about 30 people. The atmosphere and decor, and the food and the service were all out of this world awesome! It’s a beautiful rustic space with a lot of warmth and life in how it’s decorated. You honestly don’t need to bring much decoration for your event to still have a wow factor. We were receiving compliments from our guests even the next day (even on the private bathroom for the space lol)! Loved having the skylight and terrace access for that next-level openness! Suzy was so helpful and pleasant answering all our questions during the planning. The menu selection was huge and everything we chose was absolutely delicious. Don’t think you could go wrong anywhere in your event by choosing this venue. Truly professionals that care. :)

The rehearsal dinner that Five Vines put on for my son and daughter in-law was amazing. To begin with, Suzy is a delight to work with. The space is spectacular and the best part was the food. Everyone raved about the short ribs. Suzy and her husband made sure the drinks were flowing and the food was plentiful. We did the buffet and passed appetizers. The passed shrimp were a hit. You could not go wrong working with this wonderful family. Thank you so much for the beautiful memories during my son’s wedding weekend!

Still thinking about the pear soup with popping pomegranate seeds in it..... Delish !!! Looking forward to my next visit there.

Awesome wine bar with great customer service! The wine selection is vast and they have a great variety and good prices! I tried a flight of the sparkling and my fiancé had a glass of white that was recommended (and delicious). We paired our wine with a lovely charcuterie board which was delicious! They also have other small bites and fuller entrees if you have an appetite. The ambiance was cozy and friendly….everyone is so friendly! They have several indoor and outdoor spaces to sit and a second floor dedicated to events. If you’re in the area or an out of Townes, I’d highly recommend!

The best part is you can either order one of their pre-designed wine flights or you can design your own wine flight from their variety of offered wines. They have new world and old world wines from a variety of wine regions all over the world. I also love their boozy ice cream. I ordered a scoop of Carmel Old Fashion ice cream and was so delicious. Dangerously delicious. For those that like wine they do have some cocktails and craft beer options. I haven't tried them but my friends liked their frozen rose and sangria.

We almost missed a great night! But Susie, the owner, was gracious and got us situated. Her team was quick and friendly. The food was excellent - we tried the flatbread special, beet & pear salad and charcuterie tray. All three plates were excellent, with well balanced flavors. The wine menu offers pre-set tasting flights, build your own flights or by the glass. A large patio was comfortable and inviting. Five Vines has a great story, and they’ve opened a new restaurant, Roots. Looking forward to trying it next visit. Thanks for a lovely evening.

They serve Brewery X. We didn't eat here but the food we saw looked delicious and we'll definitely be coming back very soon.

Unfortunately, I cannot give more than five stars because if I could I would. The food was amazing as was the service and the wine. Fresh marinated olives, Margherita flat bread, and outstanding service and wine flights were what we experienced.

Price was reasonably approachable.

This was our first time here and it will not be our last. Service was stellar, literally every person we interacted with was so friendly. The food was delicious and the wine was fantastic. I loved they had great white wine options from Spain. Took two bottles home even! Great place, don't miss this one! Can't wait to go back and try a bunch of new things next time.

We had an amazing experience at Five Vines for my first meetup event! The staff was super helpful from the time I scheduled it through the day of the event! Andy and Dana were very attentive while I was scheduling and they made sure to answer all my questions and were very helpful and flexible with my specific requests. On the day of the event, Andy made sure the room we reserved was comfortable for everyone. The servers were very attentive, the live music, ambiance, wine and food was perfect. All my guests had a wonderful time and expressed their appreciation for this wonderful venue. The wine collection is very thoughtful and curated and the service was warm, attentive and knowledgeable. It’s clear that a lot of care went into both the wine and overall experience. For the beer lovers, they currently lacked a West Coast IPA on draft, which is expected at a bars like this, especially in its native region. The live music is a plus. Not too loud and adds to the overall cozy vibes. Tonight, they featured a guitarist/singer. One small note for the maître d': A softer lighting ambiance, especially in the dining area, would elevate this establishment to much greater heights. The light fixtures are cleverly made from wine barrels, but the lights themselves could be updated, or at the very least, dimmed more.

Service was bad not because they were not attentive they wanted you out the minute they thought you finished eating I never felt this unwelcome in a restaurant than I did here and Allison the waiter made my husband and I made feel, would I go back maybe but when she's not around and the guy at bar who was supporting her attitude and describing it as being attentive New!
