I found this only standing vegan restaurant while visiting my old stomping grounds. So sad to hear that other vegan restaurants have closed. I love this restaurant and the food is delicious!!! So many options, too! When I called to order initially, Tanya helped me with my order. She was so helpful!!! She is very sweet as well. On my way back home to LA, I had to make a stop before leaving. Please stay open, don't close!!! Love this place!!! 😋 💝

This vegan sushi spot is the best I’ve ever had! Generous portions, amazing shrimp and fish alternatives, and worth the 2.5-hour drive. I’m forever grateful for how they’ve made my life better!

I cannot say enough how amazing this place is... so many options, wonderful, helpful staff, and the food is absolutely delicious! We are on vacation here in Ventura and ordered for delivery 2 breakfast sandwiches, hashbrowns and country potatoes, and the biscuits and gravy... huge portions of each which means great value for what you pay and leftovers! Highly, highly recommend :)

The vegan sushi is utterly delicious. The vegan spam musabi is as good as any regular spam musabi I've ever had, even better. The sauces are terrific. I I gave the atmosphere 3/5 but that isn't the fault of the restaurant, that's more on the owners of the building who haven't updated the decor and design since Reagan was in office. I'm not joking. I've been going to this area since the 80s. It's frozen in time. Honestly, if they leaned into that and spruced it up a bit, they could go totally retro on purpose and that'd be neat.

Gave up red meat four years ago and don’t miss it all. This place is amazing the burger is so good, everything in the burger has flavor and the fries are to die for. The vegan shakes are very thick like a regular shake and they are extremely delicious.

Can’t imagine vegetarian food can be like this. It feels so tasty and yummy. I tried crab sushi. We have been before here also and we tried different items. Worth to try each time different ones.

Finally! A quality vegan restaurant in Ventura. Unfortunately, if you don't Google Seed Ranger or "vegan restaurants nearby," you will likely never find it... But once you find it, you'll be hooked. This is not fast food, so if you're on a lunch hour, order ahead online. If you dine-in without ordering ahead, prep time can run 15-20 minutes, but the food is worth the wait. Are you a vegan that is suffering from sushi withdrawal? Try the Rainbow Roll — it is more than enough for a full meal. Breakfast Burrito is excellent and huge. Loaded Taco is quite tasty. The BBQ chicken sandwich is a sure hit too. I will certainly be back, and soon.

I forgot to take a photo before we got to digging in because I was so excited to eat! The food was phenomenal! The service was outstanding! You can tell they really have a passion for what they are doing. If I could give this place 10/5 stars, I would! Everything in this photo is vegan. Surprisingly filling portions of delicious vegan iterations of some classic seafood dishes. Firstly, if you haven’t been there, it’s towards the community outreach church in the back and it has minimal, hard to read exterior signage. Secondly, it’s in a food court hall of sorts so there are some nearby options for drinks if their limited soda/water options aren’t (like vegan horchata at the Mexican spot right next to it!). But back to the main topic - their food. Great vegan seafood, price to reflect location. Would definitely return 💚🌱

Get the Breakfast Musubi, it’s scary accurate! The “bacon” is beautifully marbled and the “eggs” are just the right texture! The sushi is very filling. I hope Sea Ranger grows and gets it’s own place somewhere with more foot traffic like in Downtown Ventura. In the meantime, give them your business!

Googled this place randomly because the non-vegan gf and I were going to the Ventura fairgrounds and was not dissapointed. We got the Firecracker, Dragon (not pictured), Hot Cheeto, Stuffed Inari Pocket and Eel Nigiri. 100% vegan and the closest to fish-base sushi I’ve had. The rolls are pretty big so we had left overs which weren’t bad the second day either, they keep pretty well in the fridge. Plenty of parking though a little hard to find if you’re using GPS. We circled a couple of times and finally found it. We will be revisiting for sure next time we pass through or go to Ventura.

The staff was wonderful and willing to explain the various options - and there was such a large variery to choose from. We got the BBQ chicken sandwich, fries animal style, and a BLTA. The food was excellent and we will definitely be back.

I’ve been vegan for 14 years and I’ve eaten all over the world and I tell you what this is some of the best vegan biscuits and gravy I’ve ever had in my life. Their hashbrowns are delicious. The restaurant is spectacularly clean and I highly recommend them.

The Cajun chicken was lovely as well! Perfectly spicy and the texture is to die for-- similar to KFC, but vegan! On our second trip, we got the Chicken & Waffles plate which has the same chicken as the Cajun chicken plate, but without the spicy seasonings. It's salty and crunchy and pairs perfectly with the buttery waffle. So good! I also HAVE to mention how helpful, kind, and sweet the staff was! Seriously, the service is unmatched here. As a bonus, they sell vegan candy! Perfect for our road trip and hard to find usually! GO- you won't regret it!! If we are ever back in this area, Seed Ranger will be getting my business every time!

My wife was able to enjoy sushi again, and my kids were able to eat foods they can’t eat a normal version of. Don’t let the large menu deter you. The quality of the food is amazing and prices are fair. 100% recommend this place whether you have dietary restrictions or not you would honestly never tell it’s vegan. Staff is friendly as well. I will definitely be coming back! Try the pumpkin spice shake too!

What a special find!! My son and I searched everywhere near the Camarillo and Simi Valley area for an all vegan restaurant and happen to come across Seed Ranger in Ventura,CA. What a wonderful place. You go up to the counter place your order and they call your name when the order is ready. The guys behind the counter are so kind and patient. We got to connect with the owner and it was such a pleasure. The food was absolutely delicious 🤤 we loved it so much we went back everyday during our 4 day stay in the area. We did dinner one day, lunch the next, ice cream on the third day and on the fourth day we went back for breakfast. I didn’t capture photos of it all but trust me when I say it was ALL GOOD! Highly recommend!! For those looking for vegan catering services, they offer that as well. They have an extremely expansive menu filled with variety. You just can’t go wrong here.

There's so much variety - we got the crunchy tiger roll and the new Philadelphia roll. The Philly was good but the crunchy tiger was amazing, I'd definitely recommend it! More food options than the Cheesecake Factory, and it’s all vegan! You MUST try the pazole! It’s the perfect colder weather soup or for if you’re feeling spicy. They are a fusion pick up counter style restaurant and one of my all time favorites! Please check them out and become a regular if you live in the area!

The best selection of vegan sushi I've ever found. The rolls aren't cheap ($13-$16) but they are GIGANTIC. Two of us ordered a total of four rolls and we had to ask for a takeout box because we could only eat half of the order.

We are vegans and loved the extensive menu of plant-based foods that mimic and sometimes beat the originals. The biggest problem was deciding which ones to share between the two of us. We finally decided on the patty melt and the tuna melt sandwiches, having never had a plant-based version of either. Both were good but the patty melt was outstanding and took me back 30 or more years. It was perfect and we look forward to returning. It was a nice day and we ate our on the patio. On one of the next visits, I hope to order one of the vegan sushi entrees. We consider it one of the best vegan restaurants we have ever visited.

Passing through and found this 100% vegan spot. It has an amazing selection of food. We had pozole , sushi, a tamale and a Navajo taco. Everything was outstanding and fresh. I will make a trip from LA just to eat here again. Very friendly staff!

Every time I’ve come here with my partner we have tried something new and each thing has been amazing we highly recommend the fried berries ice cream it is so good and surprisingly not overly sweet but you can definitely split it like we did. Service has always been friendly and personable we are so glad a place like this exists for fellow plant based/vegan people.

Beautifully presented, servings are huge, and great flavors and textures. I’d give it 5 stars but I found all three rolls to be too salty. Wonderful staff and food that really punches above the weight of the small food court the restaurant sits in.

Vegan food hasn't failed to impress me thus far on how close it is to tasting like it's real meat counterparts. Sometimes it's even better and the Sea Ranger was no exception. The Southwest Burger was very tasteful and topped with that bomb house guacamole! Vegan wings were a first for me & although they had a very different texture than I could've imagined they were still worth trying out and enjoying. ONLY real issue I had was the food was on the heavy side with the salt. Other than that it was great & I can't wait to come back and try that highly popular sushi!

This is a great place for casual, comfort type vegan food. Everything on the menu is vegan. They have sushi, pizza, blts, burgers, fish and chips, taquitos, pancakes, omelets, etc.... Some food is quite good, other stuff is ok. It's just fun as a vegan to see foods not normally offered at restaurants. It's near the freeway, which is convenient, but the actual location is a bit funky. It's part of a food court in the parking lot of a movie theater that was converted into a church. It's the old theater on Johnson. All the restaurants in this food court have long been closed, except this one and I think a Thai place. It sort of feels like an abandoned walking dead shopping center. There's always people picking up food to go, and the owner seems very nice. It's got plenty of seats if you decide to eat there. My 19 year old makes me stop every time we pass this area. It's worth checking out!

I tried a lot of their menu and nothing was bad or lackluster, everything was what I'd expect or better. The atmosphere/location of this place definitely isn't for everyone but if you enjoy a natural community vibe then this is rad. While I was eating there were kids playing and whatnot. I enjoyed it. The staff know their regulars. Linda is the best. The owner clearly cares quite a lot about providing a wide range of options to a demographic that traditionally doesn't have much choice. They also clearly care about providing a satisfying meal and welcome feedback. I'm always asked if there's anything else they can do. Rad place. Go there.

Felt disrespected when I received a sushi roll that was supposed to be topped with “tempura” (as it says on the menu) but instead came topped with corn flakes cereal… In what world is that okay? I also got the vegan chicken plate which was pictured with different styles of vegan chicken (drumsticks/thigh/etc) but all we got was the drumsticks… Was good but still not worth it. Later updated reply on December 12, 2025 — I forgot to originally leave a review the night it happened, but was telling friends about this place yesterday before deciding to leave the review and call the place. The lady who I spoke to when I called to let them know of our visit there was very nice and agreed she didn’t like the cornflakes either & that she’s let the owner know. I am not from there, traveling through from Texas, but she called my number back to inform me that they were making the switch back to Tempura. I thought that was nice and a good effort to get a customer back, if I lived in the area I would go back for a second chance. Moving the stars to 3 for that display of service + the response of the owner in this review. If you still own this place next time I’m in Cali, I’ll take you up on that entree, haha. Thanks for the good customer service and response.
