If you’re a fan of delicious pastries and charming atmospheres, look no further. From the moment you step inside, you’re greeted by the sweet scent of freshly baked goods and the cozy, inviting decor. It’s the kind of place you can’t help but smile when you walk through the door. The pastries here are nothing short of extraordinary. I tried the Nutella filled donut and it was a perfect balance of flaky, buttery layers and just the right amount of sweetness. Each bite was pure bliss, and you could tell that everything is made with love and high-quality ingredients. The variety is impressive too — from light and delicate to indulgently rich, there’s something for every craving. The staff is friendly and welcoming, always happy to offer recommendations or a friendly chat while you choose your treats. The shop itself has a cozy charm with a few seats where you can enjoy your pastries and coffee, making it the ideal spot for a quick pick-me-up or a relaxing afternoon break. It’s clear that this shop takes pride in what they do. If you haven’t been yet, do yourself a favor and stop by. You won’t regret it — this little gem is one I’ll be returning to often!

Butter Love Bakeshop is absolutely delightful! The croissant I had was amazing—perfectly flaky, buttery, and everything you’d hope for in a classic pastry. You can tell the quality and care that goes into their baked goods. The cozy atmosphere and friendly staff make it an even better experience. Whether you’re grabbing something to go or sitting down to enjoy your treat, this place is a must-visit for pastry lovers. Highly recommend stopping by if you’re in the area!

Genuinely the best chicken pot pies I’ve ever had. My partner and I both ordered one each at first, then promptly ordered a second round right after finishing the first. We also got almond butter pie and sweet potato pie, which were both fantastic. Had a little patio in the back to eat at, and the workers were all super sweet!

I love this little bakery. I often walk my dogs to the Golden Gate dog park and then walk up 39th St. to Balboa make a right and either stop at laundromat or at butter love bakery. Usually butter love bakery wins out. And I get myself a delicious pastry and coffee. Today I picked up an Ube and coconut croissant. The sweetness was delicate and tasted of butter and crisp delights. I totally recommend.

Oh wow what a hidden gem! I though this is a pie shop and didn't really take notice but when I passed by one morning I saw their pastries from their window and was immediately intrigued. Their croissants look legit. And guess what, they taste legit too! I had a ham and cheese croissant and absolutely devoured it because it was so good. Excellent layers with a rich, savory flavor. The chocolate scone was pretty good too. Butter Love has quality pastries at fantastic prices, and I definitely look forward to coming back whenever I'm in the area (or even make a detour)!

Passed by and saw the long line decided to give a try. Nice customer service and lots of options to choose from. I got the bread pudding and croissant. Both taste delicious, personally I like the bread pudding more. Will definitely come back here again if we are in the area and recommend this location for bakery

Great pastries make it one of my favorite places in the city, but the décor needs some work to match how nice the food is. Everything about the pastries was amazing. Literally wanted to try everything as it all looked so good. We did try the ham and cheese croissant (perfect), chocolate croissant (good but no Arsicault!), Kahlua chocolate bread pudding (good), and peach muffin crumble pie (delicious). Everything was great value as well. They could spruce up the décor a bit. I'll give the benefit of the doubt and say the tables inside and rustic chic rather than just old, but the outdoor area at the back is in dire need of a clean up, and the bathroom need some sprucing. If they gave it a bit of attention it would make a huge difference to the overall ambience of the place.

If you’re ever in the Outer Richmond, be sure to stop in here for some lovely, delicious baked goods. I stop in here probably 1-2 times a week it’s that good. The shop is so cute, their menu (and specials) vary, and the prices are super fair. It’s hard not to buy 1 (or 2) of everything anytime I stop in.

Went here at 8pm on a Friday and they were selling late night cookies 🍪! Signage says they’re also open from 5-9pm on Fridays and Saturdays for cookies. Cookies can come warmed, and they’re both crispy on the outside and gooey in the middle. Love the concept, and am so glad there’s a different dessert option on Balboa!

Butter Love Bakeshop is a wonderful charming small neighborhood bakeshop! That offers real life deliciousness in forms of baked goods. This bakery is small but don't let its size fool you... Small things pack a lot taste! My recommendations would be to buy their chocolate chip cookies which are perfectly cooked. Also The chcicken pot pies ,scones and rotating menu helps spice things up. Last take a picture with the butter measurements on the wall. This is the first ever scale too see how much butter you really are?! : )

Whether or not this place has the best croissants in the city (possibly? but certainly gives Arsicault a run for their money) is not the point. The point is if you want a shatteringly crispy croissant with airy layers that taste like cold sticks of butter like the ones in Paris (and Copenhagen and London) and not the sad floppy horns that are the norm in the US, you’ll find them at Butter Love. You’ll also find a line that’s 1/20 shorter than Arsicault. Plus a really, really, really good chocolate croissant.

This is the pumpkin pie of my dreams. The crust is a flaky, buttery wonder. The filling is light, spiced and not too sweet. Had the apple pie as well. It’s good, but the pumpkin is amazing. Want to try the galette next.

the baked items are ON. POINT. plenty of sweet and savory options. Eyes out for the mini single serving crumble top pies and filled doughnuts. The coffee they have is also great - big step up from what most people would make at home. Great personable store. Will be back often.

This is the little shop that can! Their AM pastries and evening cookies are de-lightful. The staff is patient and pleasant. I can only imagine how delightful their pies are.

The aroma at the store is inviting as you walk in. I got a chicken pot pie!!! Delicious 🤤 fresh and tasty. The size was perfect and the consistency was right on point the chicken was fresh as well as the vegetables. Thank you

Cute little neighborhood bakery with exceptionally bad coffee. I think it’s forgivable considering the quality of their baked goods though. We got a whole banquet of stuff that I won’t even get into. The highlights were definitely the pumpkin loaf, ube cupee(?), and the cookies. We did also get a ham and cheese something or another that was pretty disappointing - for the most part it was just dense, wet pastry that managed not to taste like anything at all. We showed up at 2pm and a lot of the items that looked good were sold out by the time we got there. Overall pretty good, and nothing was terrible by any means... except for the coffee. I can’t stress how bad that coffee is. Don’t get the coffee.

I dropped by one morning as the window display was too enticing. There were already two clients in front of me but worth the wait. Ordered a apple fritter which was delicious with the dough chewier than I am accustomed to. The jasmine tea paired perfectly and while I waited for it, they suggested I sit in the patio since the bench was occupied. Since there is only one person in the front, it took a while and despite a slight mixup with the change, I returned again this morning. I had a bread pudding which was crusty outside and chewy inside along with a little surprise on the bottom. Love their outdoor patio which is large with wooden benches and chairs but I do wish the prices are on the display so clients can prepare in advance if paying in cash and that it was more organized.

Decent overall; way better than the previous tenant service wise. Pies, quiches, and galettes were good, breakfast biscuit sandwiches could’ve been better (the baked egg thing they do was odd and tasted diluted). Pies tasted homemade and way better then anything at a supermarket. Coffee was indeed very bad here like other reviewers have mentioned.
