Avis sur Carne Mare Albee Square
Carne Mare is one of our favorite restaurants and among the best steakhouses we have ever been to (the best in NYC). Everything about this restaurant is perfection. The ambiance, the food, and the friendly/professional waitstaff all contribute to an amazing and elevated dining experience. Every course is so flavorful, from the bread, to starters, and of course the steak. The Ribeye was seasoned so well and cooked perfectly. I could not recommend a better place for a romantic and delicious meal that lives up to the hype.
I recently discovered Carne Mare, and it has quickly become one of my favorite spots worth recommending to friends. From the outstanding flavors to the inviting atmosphere and attentive service, this is the kind of restaurant that leaves a lasting impression. The ambiance strikes a perfect balance between elegant and relaxed, and the staff’s warmth and professionalism truly enhanced our dining experience. ⚪ The Yellowfin Tuna Tartare 🐟 was refreshingly clean and bright on the palate, with a perfect balance of acidity and freshness — an excellent choice to start the meal. 🦆 The Whole Roast Duck d’Ivan 🦆 arrived beautifully presented, generously portioned, with tender, juicy meat and crisp skin that brought rich aroma and flavor — perfect for sharing with your table. 🥩 The 8 oz Center-Cut Filet Mignon 🥩 showcased superbly tender beef, and I absolutely loved the accompanying green sauce — likely a spinach-herb blend — which elevated the dish with vibrant savory notes. 🍸🍷 The cocktails and beverage program also stood out — visually appealing and wonderfully balanced in flavor. That night happened to be my friend’s birthday, and we were surprised (and delighted) to see his name on the menu, which made the evening even more unforgettable 🥳🎉. The service was exceptional throughout, making for a truly memorable night. Overall, Carne Mare is a dining destination worth returning to, whether for celebrations, date nights, or special dinners with friends. 🌇🥂
We had gone to celebrate a family event. Carne Mare delivered on all accounts. The service by Nathan was top class, attentive, informative and helpful. We started with Porseco and followed it between the 7 of us with Mozzarella sticks and caviar, Lobster Spaghetti, Steaks and Egg, care Mare brunch of caesar salad, steak sandwich, French toast followed by the dessert. Undoubtedly the dishes served were full of flavour and taste. Everyone really enjoyed the dishes the weather and the views just added to the experience.
Decislvious octopus carpaccio and their signature short rib sandwich. Place has są old school charm. Professional and priendly staff. Great location on SouthStreet Seaport.
Highly recommended date night dinner. We've come here twice now, two years apart and both times were superb. The restaurant interior is like stepping into a movie and the staff go above and beyond in making your experience memorable. The food is presented and cooked with great detail. The brussel sprouts as a side were a surprising highlight. Be prepared to splurge on your meal here, but is definitely worth it for a special ocassion.
I was always hesitant about steakhouses, my previous experiences have always left me thinking "I could have made that at home and it would have been as good, and at a fraction of the cost". Carne Mare completely changed my mind. From the appetizers, all the way to the desserts everything was great. I could gush about each individual dish, but everyone is here for the steaks. What sets this place apart from home cooking and other restaurants are the following: The crust - unparalleled, crisp and flavorful. The dry age - The Beef flavor concentrated to the max and the cuts are extremely tender Right now, I use Carne Mare to compare the steaks of other restaurants I go to. Unfortunately, I've been leaving many establishments disappointed ever since.
This place exceeded my expectations and i would come back. It was very easy to get a table midweek evening. First of all, the atmosphere is just gorgeous, tables have enough room to themselves, the view is very nice near the water, the lighting is right seats are comfortable music isnt overpowering Love their selection of aperitifs The food was very good. Steak was cooked perfectly that was rendered perfectly Side dishes are very tasty I liked the broccolini and the Cacio E Pepe butternut squash that I got, it is very rich but good Tuna tartare was excellent I love how this place can actually do both seafood and steak very well. The only thing I'll mention is that the bread just isn't really good quite dry but who really cares, get other appetizers it doesn't really matter. Can't wait to try more of their seafood and cuts of meat next time.
My husband and I dines on Saturday 11/15. Aaron R and the other server (never got his name) were friendly, attentive and overall fantastic. Our Sommelier was very helpful with suggestions for wines when the bottles of Riesling and Gruner VeItliner we ordered were both out of stock. Lovely atmosphere. Delicious food. Perfect Anniversary date night for my husband and I.
I had proposed to my lovely lady here at this wonderful restaurant. I was herewith some of my family 🥰 I appreciate Rob the manager and Gina being so helpful and reserving the right room. Beautiful atmosphere and friendly staff. I never forget my experience here especially with some good food
Beautiful location in the South Street Seaport with excellent views of both Manhattan and Brooklyn. If the weather is nice, sit outdoors. We stopped by during brunch service and the food was exceptional (especially the AC Famous Prime Rib Sandwich - best steak sandwich I've had in a long time). Cocktails were also great and the service was top notch.
I want to gate keep this place, but I won't... it's amazing all around. Been here several times already and we love it. The food, the service, the decor... all 10/10. Come for dinner for your first visit so you can try the bread, then get the mozzarella sticks with caviar, after that, doesn't matter cause you'll be swooning over everything. One of our favorite spots in the city, period.
How good is Carne Mare? Well, in the food capital of the world we went twice in a row. There is a lot of care taken in the preparation of the food and the service. Rosalina, Mary, Antonio, and Lauda (sp) thank you very much for such a memorable and enjoyable time. I really can't say anything negative about the food. Apps. Mains. Entrees. Salads (that Caesar with the egg mimosa, what?!) all delicious. Going to highlight our favorite dishes. The salt baked sea bass, the presentation was a surprise so I won't spoil that. What a delicate and delicious piece of fish. If you're tired of the tried and true "Miso sea bass" and then the salt bake is the move. For the corn lovers, just stop at the Agnolotti and Summer Corn. Be warned, it's a bit sweet, like a good southern cream corn, but it's a total celebration of an underappreciated vegetable. For the steak options, you can't go wrong with the Bevetta or the Ribeye. Beautiful crust and sear that carries throughout the protein. Oh and I'd get stabbed by my wife and I don't mention the Alaskan Red crab sauce, if you're a Futurama fam I'm pretty sure Bender dropped a little of that special essence in there like BAM. The Rigatoni was also excellent. I didn't have this personally so no extra detaila but it was ordered by our group twice in a row. TLDR: can't go wrong with Carne Mare when it comes to excellent food and service.
This spot is the lady in red. There’s velvet, leather, mirrors, and beautiful chandeliers. Rarely do I meet someone who’s a bigger jokester than me, but our waiter was witty and quick. I loved him! He made this such a fun dinner. This spot is not safe, I turned it into a tapas restaurant too. We got the spicy crab, lettuce cups, the mozzarella sticks with caviar, shishito peppers, and then I got the sweet corn pasta, and I added a lobster tail. We do big things around here.
We came here to celebrate our engagement and it was PERFECT ✨ The staff were all lovely, gorgeous, and so kind. We even received a copy of the menu as a keepsake 💖 Everyone really made such an effort to make the night that much more special and beautiful Everything we ordered was delicious and incredibly fresh. The mozzarella sticks with caviar were gorgeous. The lobster spaghetti, exquisite. The wine, magical. The atmosphere is also exquisite and the restaurant is absolutely stunning, with equally beautiful views of the water. 50/10 stars. Definitely recommend for everyone to pay a visit 💖✨ Thank you to everyone at Carne Mare for such a fabulous celebration<333 We appreciate each and every one of yours' efforts, hospitality, and kindness.
I had a really nice time here. Everyone was so welcoming and friendly this time around. The hostess was so sweet and we got seated upstairs which had beautiful views of the seaport and the boats. The decor is elevated and nostalgic. The food was incredible. I loved the polenta and the ceasar salad. I also tried the mozzarella and caviar sticks which were superb. The 17 layer chocolate cake was amazing. Victor the manager made everything so nice and our waiter Gustavo was AMAZING!!! the host was so nice and friendly and Gina the manager also made sure to make my visit very nice..
Had a reservation at Carne Mare with three of my old colleagues I hadn’t seen in years, and it turned out to be one of the best dining experiences we’ve had! From start to finish, everything was exceptional—the service, the ambiance, and most importantly, the food. We started with fresh oysters, and the staff took the time to explain the different types, where they came from, and their unique flavors. It was a great touch, especially in an Italian-inspired steakhouse. The cheese sticks with caviar were an absolute hit, even with a friend who usually avoids raw food—this appetizer changed their mind! For the primo, I chose the Woodland Mushroom Agnolotti, which was beautifully rich and earthy, with the black truffle adding a deep, luxurious touch to the dish. For the secondi, the Salt-Baked Sea Bass with woodland mushrooms was incredible—the delicate fish was perfectly cooked, infused with herby, citrusy notes that elevated its natural flavor. To end the night, we shared the Apple Crostata, the 17-layer Chocolate Cake, and the Baked Spumoni. The Spumoni was a showstopper—flaming at the table with that perfect balance of caramelized sweetness and frozen gelato inside. Beyond the amazing food, what really made this a 5-star experience was the hospitality. The servers were warm, attentive, and detail-oriented, making sure we had everything we needed without being intrusive. Carne Mare exceeded our expectations, and we will definitely be back for both the outstanding food and the top-notch service!
My husband and I celebrated our first anniversary at Carne Mare, and it was such a great experience. The vibe of the restaurant is classy and welcoming, and the view made it feel even more special. The area around the restaurant is also really nice to walk around before dinner, which added to the night. We ordered the steak, and it was absolutely delicious—so tender and flavorful. The duck was amazing too, and the portion was huge! Both dishes really hit the mark, and we were so happy with everything we tried. The only thing we were a little disappointed about was that the roast beef was already sold out. Our dinner was pretty early, around 5:30pm. so it was surprising that it was out of stock that early in the evening. We’ll definitely want to go back to try it next time! The servers were super friendly and made sure we had everything we needed. Overall, we had an awesome dinner and felt like we picked the perfect place to celebrate. Carne Mare is definitely worth a visit if you’re looking for a special night out.
What a gorgeous restaurant. We were in awe of everything we ordered. Unfortunately, the server damaged the whole experience with incredibly disengaged, impersonal service. I attempted to ask a question twice, and both times he walked away, leaving me hanging in the middle of a sentence. We will come back for the unmatched food and ambience with the hope we get a better server next time.
Carne Mare nails the atmosphere immediately. The space leans into a rich, old-school chophouse aesthetic, and the service is polished, confident, and exactly what you want in a New York steakhouse. We stopped in just for appetizers and worked our way through the chophouse snacks. The oysters were exceptionally fresh, clean, and easily the highlight of the table. The house bread was a genuine surprise and far better than expected. The remaining snacks, crab, burrata, and mozzarella with caviar, felt like they were loaded with promise but landed just fine rather than memorable. That said, this is a chophouse, and appetizers aren’t the reason you come here. Based on the room, the service, and the foundation they’ve built, I’m absolutely coming back to give the steaks their proper moment. I’m hopeful the main event delivers at the level the setting suggests.
Beautiful interior that really does exude the chophouse ambiance. Service is very friendly and lots of smiles. Food unfortunately didn’t feel as top game as the price conveyed. Mozzarella stick with caviar felt underwhelming and the prime rib sandwich had too much bread. May come back for the steaks.
The steak was absolute perfection—cooked exactly right and full of flavor. The bread was out of this world, and the summer corn was a surprising standout. We sat on the patio, which had a sunset view over the water that made the evening feel extra special. Service was attentive and truly above and beyond, making it the perfect spot to celebrate a birthday. Nearly flawless all around. I’ll definitely be back!
Beautiful atmosphere for an evening dinner over the water. The food was good—not the best I’ve ever had but very tasty. The service was exceptional, shoutout to the waitress that consistently kept my water topped off anytime I’d blink. Prices were high but definitely a good dinner all around.
I hosted a client dinner for 8 people here and was genuinely disappointed. There were a variety of issues throughout our meal. First to comment on the service, it wasn't terribly clear who our server was. We were helped by a variety of individuals throughout the meal, but most of the time, we were stopping people as they walked by to get things that we needed. A few other specific examples of service lapses included that on the first round of drinks, the cocktails and wine were brought out, but a beer was forgotten, which we had to track a server down to remind them of. After the food was served, no one asked how it was, and we were generally ignored for the rest of the meal, never offered dessert menus, etc. It got to the point where 5 of the guests had left over the course of about 15 minutes, until we even were able to get someone to bring us the check. The only real service was the water, which their team did keep refilling. Moving on to the food, the appetizers and salads were all very good. The side dishes were also quite top notch, would highly recommend the spinach and the brussel sprouts. The steaks however did not meet the mark for a steakhouse of this caliber. Multiple guests commented on the quality of the steak, in particular that even though seemingly cooked properly, still ended up very dense and chewy. All steaks were ordered medium or less and no less than 3 guests commented on the lack of quality and across different steaks too (Wagyu Bavetta with particularly low marks). All in all, the ambiance of the place is amazing, but the service and food were a let down in our experience.
