Avis sur Goku Kitchen Albee Square
I really loved the food. The place was really small but I enjoyed it overall. The waiter was really nice.
Goku Kitchen NYC is a casual Japanese spot that delivers comforting and satisfying dishes in a relaxed setting. The atmosphere is simple and welcoming, making it a convenient choice for a quick lunch or an easy dinner in the city. It’s not overly fancy, but it feels clean, cozy, and focused on the food. The ramen is a highlight, featuring rich, flavorful broth and well-cooked noodles with generous toppings like tender chashu pork and soft-boiled eggs. Sushi rolls are fresh and neatly presented, offering both classic options and some creative combinations. Portion sizes are solid for the price, which makes it a good value compared to many other Manhattan spots. Service is typically fast and friendly, perfect for busy New Yorkers who want quality without a long wait. Overall, Goku Kitchen is a reliable neighborhood restaurant that offers tasty Japanese comfort food at a reasonable price.
Been to a couple of anime-themed restaurants around the country. Sometimes I am not a big fan of it due to its focus entirely on the decor rather than food, not to mention the premium charge for its ‘vibe’. However, this place surprised both in food and decor. As someone who grew up reading DBZ in Chinese, my memories came right back as I started ‘reading’ from the walls. The beef and yakitori noodle soup were very tender and well seasoned. The beef scallion pancake was also very unique with mouth-watering beef. The chicken chive dumplings were the weakest out of the bunch, so stick to the other 3. Price was very reasonable given its location.
This place is a gold mine! I went in with modest expectations, but I was completely blown away. The Braised Beef Scallion Oil Noodles are a must-order; the beef is incredibly tender and literally melts in your mouth. We also tried the Pan-Fried Pork Buns, which were equally delicious. Lastly, the Tonkotsu Ramen is basic but really good. The broth is rich and the noodles were perfectly thin. We'll definitely be back!
I had an amazing experience at Goku Kitchen NYC. Walking in immediately brought back so many memories and the vibe inside made me feel good right away. I came right when they opened, stayed for about an hour, and it never felt overly crowded. The Saiyan pan fried pork buns were great, the Yakitori Rice was really good, and I also had the Tonkotsu Chashu Ramen. The ramen itself was good, although the broth was not the best I’ve ever had, but still absolutely worth ordering. I also picked up the Goku blind box, which was a cool extra touch. Overall this is a great spot with awesome staff, solid food, and so much to look at inside. If you love DBZ, this is a must stop to eat, look around, and enjoy the atmosphere.
Outstanding service and amazing food. 1,000/10 would go back again. Definitely would recommend. The vibe is cozy and the decor is very nice. The pricing was great for the quality and portions of the food. Me and my partner got pork buns to share (it comes with 4 buns), two main dishes (beef udon & curry noodles) plus some black and gold lava buns for less than $30/per person. The staff took care of us, they went above and beyond and were so accommodating. I’d definitely do another date night here ASAP, I loved every second of it and so did he!
Highly Recommend, customer service amazing food is delicious at great prices. Food comes out quick. We ordered the curry chicken, chicken gyoza, beef wrap, BBQ pork buns, undon noodles with broth, roti with curry. And their passion fruit tea Everything was delicious flavorful. We even ordered more to take back home lol. They even brought out water for our service dog which was really appreciated. We will definitely be back.
Goku Kitchen is a great Asian shop on Cedar St., in the Financial District. It’s a Dragon ball themed place, so lots of Son Goku imagery and collectibles straight from Japan. It’s fun and interesting just to check out the displays. If you’re a Dragon ball fan, then this is the place for you. Even though I work a block over, It was my first time there, and I have to say I was taken with how nice the atmosphere was. The staff, particularly, makes it so, as they’re very friendly and welcoming. Their menu is pretty expansive, with lots of different noodle, dim sum, and gyoza options. I was there for their dons though, which they had many to choose from. I lived in both Tokyo and Osaka for a few years, and go back regularly. From those experiences I developed a passion for unagi-don, (amongst many other dishes), so I wanted to give it a try at Goku Kitchen. I’m glad I did because It was so good! I was actually surprised by how good it was. It had a slightly different flavor profile from what you’d typically get in Japan, but in this case it’s not a negative, as this don was slamin! The addition of green onions helped to make the dish pop. Take it from a self admitted Japanese food snob, if you like unagi, I promise you that you’ll love this don. I’m going back for sure, as I think I found a new fav. Highly recommended!
Food was delicious - particularly the tonkotsu ramen and the soup dumplings are quite authentic! The server was friendly and professional. This place is truly a gem in the Wall Street area, great stop over not only if you are a Dragonball fan (bug if you are, welcome to paradise, and, you’re welcome!!) Only downsides: is so tiny that they don’t have a bathroom / they close quite early -8:30pm - so we had to find the right day to finally go.
Finishing work downtown and found this orange cute restaurant with Japanese anime “Dragonball” as decorations, serving Asian dumplings, noodles and drinks. The dining experience at Goku was nothing short of exceptional. The fried dumplings, beef noodles and strawberry latte I tried were very delicious. Staff are friendly and a kid served with rice molded in cat shape at the next table was having a happy dining moment. Having been in NYC for a week, it’s a pleasant and ideal spot for a quick lunch break.
Food was amazing. The drinks were very good too! I had an iced matcha and my mom and brother got the strawberry latte. So good. Staff is so friendly and nice. I went here the day of comic con and it was cool. Great decor! No bathroom but it is a cozy place. Scallion pancakes were delicious! All the food was good :)
This restaurant has a wonderful atmosphere and the staff was very kind. They even gave us stickers at the end of our meal! The braised beef noodles were flavourful and the beef was very tender. The pork gyoza was also perfectly crispy on the bottom but had a bouncy skin. The passionfruit jasmine tea was very refreshing! This is a must try if you are downtown!
There is only one word to describe our experience…perfect. I have eaten this type of cuisine all over the world, and this is one of the best. The staff is amazing, and the atmosphere is so unique!! Here’s the bonus, we had eight…yes eight…different dishes that were perfect in every way and only spent $54 AFTER tax. The scallion pancake, steamed buns, and soup dumplings were on a completely different level than 95% of the other places in NYC, and then combine that with the amazing service and affordable pricing and you won’t find a better place.
The pan sheared dumplings were good. I would order them again. I ordered the chicken ramen. I actually enjoyed the chicken by itself. Very very good. The ramen noodles were too stiff. It’s probably because I ordered take out and it was very cold outside. I love the atmosphere. Soooo dope!
My first time going here and ordered a beef noodle soup to go. While eating felt something sharp in my mouth and was shocked to find this thin metal wire. I’m not sure what it is or how it got into the food but definitely will not be returning and question the sanitary practices.
