I'll be honest ... the only thing I've eaten here is the smoked meat poutine. It's so good I don't even want to order something else. The meat is top notch and smoked and cured perfectly. Put it on top of some killer poutine loaded with cheese curds and you've got a meal. The last time I was in, I also bought a quart of pickles to bring home with me. Seriously, some of the best deli pickles I've ever had. I can't stop eating them.
I had the rigatoni chicken and sausage, which tasted great. Staff was friendly, attentive and made great suggestions. You won't regret visiting here.
Speckled Hen and the best blue cheese burger I've had in a very long time. The barman was also good company. We'll be back soon.
Great little Irish pub in the heart of the finance district with a nice wine list and really great salads. The staff is friendly and accommodating and this place is good for groups as it has a large area in the back that looks to be recently renovated. Charming tile ceilings, too.
Great Irish pub to sit down and have a meal and drink with some friends! Food was good, service from our waiter Colm was excellent! Would definitely go again sometime.
This beautiful Irish bar is busy after work on a weekday, but very quiet later in the evening. If you enjoy traditional Irish pub food they make great dishes. There is a large bar to sit at with about 10 beers on tap. In the back of the restaurant, they also have cozy booths that easily sit 4 people and table service. If you want a quiet place to sit and talk with your sweetie go here after 9:30 and sit at the bar with a cider or pub beer.
Dark and cozy hole in the wall that has more space than it seems. Friendly staff and delicious negroni! Didn't get a chance to try the food, but it was a good spot to duck in for a quick drink with a friend.
Great Irish bar with meals that are excellent and a staff that are on point. The atmosphere is very nice and cozy. Had a great time here with some friends and felt like we treated exceptionally well.
Great place. A little pricey, but wonderful atmosphere. I didn't have food here, but heard it was tasty. The Guinness was good
Was on my trip to NYC. Found this place while trolling the neighborhood. Beautiful, authentic with a touch of classic Irish pub. Great services and drinks. Relaxing atmosphere and location is convenient. Would love to visit again.
The Full Shilling is one of the best kept secrets in FiDi! The staff is friendly, the beer is plentiful, and there is always plenty of space for you and your friends. This cozy bar is often frequented by neighbors who live in the area and enjoy the less crowded downtown establishments.
Great Irish bar in downtown. The wings are absolutely gigantic and the sauce spicy and flavorful. Also had excellent service by the bartenders and wait staff.
My 15-month-old son LOVES the Irish waitresses here and they love him! They have highchairs and a kids menu and the food is great, especially the Guinness beef stew!
Bartender was awesome. We ordered several drinks and had a fun time. I was really impressed with the quality of food. Our group got burgers, stew, and shepherds pie and we were all thrilled with our meals.
Cool spot in the financial district. Business associates picked it. I've seen enough Irish bars in my day, so this was not very exciting to me. Seriously, I'm in NYC. Let's see something interesting, something new! Anyways. Happy hour was good. The appetizers were very good. Sliders were delicious. Beer was cold and much needed. Maybe I will stop in again not in a suit and carrying a brief case.
Absolutely loved this place, the staff were amazing, food was lovely, spent 5 days in new York near wall street, was a shame we only stumbled across it sooner, had scaffolding in front of it so didn't know it was open at first but once we found it wow what a place, would have gone there every night, food was superb staff were too, after the 2nd night in there was greeted like a regular even got a pair of paddy's socks off the who I think was the manager, she was such a good host, amazing place and the guiness was top, if I go back I'll give this place a visit, superb bar
I was in town for work and this bar was close by so I checked it out. Little did I know it was going to be such a gem in large part to Colm, the welcoming and dapper bartender who made me feel like a local immediately. I returned every night of my trip and will hope to stay close by again to hit up this spot. Colm is a gem, and so is The Full Shilling! Excellent service and environment.
Best gin and tonic EVER. Be sure to ask for Dingle gin. Supurb
I really enjoy this place when in NYC for business trips. Nice selection of beers, bourbon, and scotch. The food is really good too. I was quite surprised by how many Irish folk are actually here. Not just the staff, but some customers as well. Seems to be a very popular place, but has plenty of space.
Service was fantastic! I do not know bartenders name but she was awesome. Myself, hubby and kids came In A second time during our visit to NYC and the bartender remembered everything we like and did not like. Very impressive. Thank you so much!
Cozy bar / restaurant with good Irish American fusion style food. Portions are good not huge. Price is not cheap but not expensive. It is middle range especially for the area it's a lower cost. It has full liquor bar with a decent selection.
Great staff with a classic Irish bar layout. Food is a bit pricier than other Irish pubs in the area, however the quality and presentation is one of the best in FiDi - well worth the couple extra dollars compared to others.
As a travel blogger I have always said the best restaurants pride themselves on quality service. Sometimes ambience is important if you're looking for a romantic night out; of course good food is always crucial However, when the staff is top-notch, you will always enjoy yourself to the utmost. This is the best part of "Full Shilling," an Irish Pub, located in lower Manhattan. Joanna, is the most pleasant, helpful, and hard working person I've met in my travels around the world. She does double duty to make great drinks, serve your food and always has a smile on her face and is ready for lively conversation. You will never go wrong stopping by this restaurant for a great burger or and a great drink.
I was in New York for work for three days and this was our spot to go after work and decompress. It was a good mix of Irish pub meets New York neighborhood bar. We never ate here, but the menu looked good. But the drinks were good, and the waitstaff was great. And they had a good tap list for us beer drinkers. A good mix of local brews and national favorites.
Can't recommend this place enough. The staff is so friendly and welcoming, the atmosphere is awesome, and the food is great. I strongly recommend the penne alla vodka. Stir in those mozzarella chunks and go to town. Special shout out to Jo, Florian, and Emilio who have made this little spot feel like home during my short stay in NYC.
Recently, my wife and I visited this wonderful place. We spent about an hour there, enjoying the atmosphere and great drinks. A glass of beer and a couple of cocktails – everything was delicious and expertly prepared. The bar had a cozy, relaxed vibe, perfect for an evening out. The service was excellent—attentive and friendly staff. We’ll definitely be back!
Great Irish pub the pints of Guinness is delicious and they serve full pints of Magners/Bulmers as well. Great atmosphere.
We found this bar by chance, walking in the Wall Street area, and it was a great surprise. It is a Bar with a great atmosphere, excellent service and very good drinks. The bar tenders are very nice, it has a local vibe, which is great, we will keep coming back!
Love Mikado Sushi! Fresh fish, friendly service, and a relaxing atmosphere. One of the best sushi spots near my work place. You won’t regret it!
Visiting from Toronto Canada. The food was good but the company was better. After dinner we sat at the bar and had great conversations with other travelers and locals. Our bartender, Siobhan, was great and joined in the conversations. A perfect and relax way to spend our last night in NYC. If visiting NYC again, we will be back!
Supper cool place you have to try their cookies menu good was great as well
Bartender was friendly and attentive. The espresso martinis were delicious. The food looked good, we only had drinks but saw others had food at the bar. Decently priced for Manhattan.
The menu costs reflect food that's actually worth it. The flavors stand out. Prices are fair and people are welcoming. This restaurant puts effort into its appearance. The team shows kindness. I'm absolutely coming again.
The Full Shilling is a fantastic Irish pub in the Financial District of New York City that offers so much more than a pint of Guinness. While the atmosphere is warm and inviting—perfectly capturing that authentic pub feel with its low lighting and a bar that was literally shipped from Belfast—it's the food that truly steals the show. I've had Shepherd's Pie at a lot of places, but the one at The Full Shilling is hands-down the best I've ever tasted. It's a masterpiece of comfort food. The chopped sirloin and vegetables are simmered in a rich, savory gravy that is seasoned to perfection. The crowning glory is the creamy, golden potato-parmesan crust that's both fluffy and slightly crisp on top. Every bite is a perfect balance of flavors and textures, making for a hearty and incredibly satisfying meal. It’s a dish that feels like a warm hug and sets a new standard for what Shepherd's Pie should be. This pub is a must-visit for anyone craving delicious, authentic Irish fare.
Great experience if you want to be in the heart of the financial district and still be apart from it. Service is fantastic. Bar staff take excellent care of you across a gorgeous copper-topped bar. Selection of beers is good, if it fails a bit on its Irish roots (few Irish and British options). Food is very good. One of the better fish and chips u have had on this side of the Atlantic. Lives up to its claims of being 101 years old. Great list of 80s and 90s tunes pumping through the sound system. Incredibly accessible to outsiders with an obvious "locals" flavor. Staff are friendly and rotating daily specials keep it fresh. Not just a bar for affianados of the taps either. Had a couple of excellent cocktails as well. Worth a stop, for sure.
I went in pretty late (for food). The bar across my alley, the Irish punt, had closed their kitchen at 8 so they sent me to the the shilling. The shilling closes their kitchen at 10pm. The Irish punt highly recommended the shilling and I was not disappointed. The snack I had was served quickly and with a smile. Colum at the bar was really helpful. I’ll be back. I can’t wait to try their other food, which all looks delicious
Enjoyed a lovely meal in the Full Shilling on my recent visit to New York City (December). The choice of food on the menu, along with the quality - and the friendly service, was excellent and highly recommendable. I loved their outside dining area - a replica of Dublin Bus's 40A bus. A Brilliant idea, which looked very well.
Place is huge. Great place to meet up with friends or just grab a beer after work. Food comes out quickly. Usual bar grub, nothing to write home about.
Love their fish and chips! Great bar and pretty good atmosphere. Regularly go here for work outings and an occasional drink.
Consistently good service and food. The Cajun chicken sandwich is really good. An associate had the chicken Milanese sandwich and said it was delicious. I still to this day have not tried the chicken curry casserole. I'm still tempted, but tend to go with what I know is good.
Great place for lunch, dinner. Bartenders are phenomenal, wait staff as well. AWESOME Irish pub. The big cesar salad with salmon is filling and delicious without the heavy feeling followed by the 3PM crash...
Great atmosphere. The service was okay. The food was okay too. The reason I say service was okay because I'm a Muslim, and I can not drink alchol. I asked for a non-alcoholic drink, and she gave me a non-alcoholic beer. However, I looked closely at the fine print before I drank it, and it said it had 0.5% alchol for volume. allowed and not caml it alcoholic but islamicly speaking that's forbidden still. So I'm grateful for seeing that before even touching it.
I am a native New Yorker and will keep to the directness of how we are known to be :) Drinks: Great beer selection! Food: Not bad for pub grub :) Space: This is your classic Irish bar fully stocked with the interior of the bar imported from Ireland! It is perfect for date night, afterwork drinks, or get-togethers. Scene: Very cool, sleek and classical pub. It's a pick-up scene. Crowd: 20-60s filled with local talent and corporate types. It's a countdown to how drunk some people will get, but it's a fun place. Service: Very courteous, attentive and professional.
Nice atmosphere here for a pub feel. Plenty of seating and the service was very fast and pleasant. The waitress was very friendly and remembered a table of six's order without having to write it down.
Good pub, great for a Friday lunch and a beer. Prices are a bit high, but you're in FiDi so that's what you get. Many good nights have been had here, and I suspect many more will be had.
Best turkey burger and fries in the Wall St area hands down. The apple martini was great the margarita was not so great. The waitress we had didn't seem to know much about the cocktails but we got to witness some Irish culture when a group of men in kilts started parading through while playing live native music 🍀
Nice dive bar with a warm atmosphere. Drinks were made well. Service could have been a little more frequent.
Probably the best pub in the area. I have been working in this area for over 30 years and the food and service here, especially the salads and sandwiches are consistently good. The only downside is that there is a limited variety of decent wines. But who goes to an Irish Pub for wine?
Food is not bad, but the Happy Hour drinks are mid.
A hidden gem in the wall street area. Beautiful old antique wooden bar brought in from Europe that is well maintained, polished, and stacked with any liquor you could think of. There is a sizable room with tables passed the bar that is perfect to enjoy their delicious dinner specialties -- something you would never expect from a bar. The only reason why I gave it a 4 star rating for the atmosphere is because I have tinnitis which makes it hard to hear conversations in loud gatherings. I was there on a Thursday and the bar was packed . Everyone was having a great time hence loud (but only at the bar area). If it is that packed on a Thursday, I presume that the "party" is constant every day it is open. It is Wall Street after all.
Scale of 1-10 Interior design: 8 Customer service: N/A (It was a takeout) Food (weighs twice as much): 9 Price: 6 looks small from the outside but very spacious from the inside. The flavors of the food caught me off guard. Did not expect for it to be as delicious as it was. I got the chicken wings, fried calamari and the full shilling burger. The chicken wings could have been better if the wings were fresh but that's not to say that it wasn't delicious. The home cut fries that came with the burger was on point and don't even get me started on the burger itself. It was extremely juicy and meaty. Like, it literally melts in your mouth. If not anything, I'm definitely going back for that burger. Price was a bit on the pricier side but considering the location I would say it was justifiable. Recommend to go try their burger as it beats some of the best burger joints in New York City. Please like the review if it was helpful 😁
A great spot for a casual but hearty and tasty lunch!
Solid black bean burger & well poured pint of Guinness. Brought the food out within 5 minutes of order at lunch - super efficient, much appreciated. Great service from Joanna at the bar! Cozy. Well stocked bar. Will be back for more drinking.
I've been going to the Full Shilling for years Great place to relax and grab a drink or two. The food is great! I suggest the burgers or the Shepard's pie (My favorite). This place even has an old school Irish snug. It's isolated from the rest of the pub and the bartender can serve your drinks and food through a window inside away from the crowd. It's pretty cool and makes you feel special 😁 . If you're looking for a chill place after work or for lunch, this place is worth checking out.
Drinks are well priced during happy hour, but don't come here for the food. If you're desperate, do not even think about the ham and cheese sandwich. It's 17 bucks and uses the cheapest ingredients.
I guess they changed management. Flat Stella on first attempt, wrong glass too. Food as reduced their portions, but the homemade meatloaf was actually quite good. They try.
Full Schilling becomes a half schilling as it gears up for the upcoming recession. I never knew a chicken slider bun can be half the size of a Hawaiian roll bun but it was. 3 half sized Hawaiian rolls, each the size of a silver dollar, came out with a half handful of chips. The chicken in it was a literal chicken nugget! $15. Was definitely not worth it. One and done place
Interesting joint. About 5pm on a Friday when I walk in. No one at front and only person I see was bartender. Went to bar and he told me to grab a seat. Waitress was … indifferent? … from look on her face to complete lack of communication. Dimly lit with college football on TV in dining room. The prices are set like they want to be more than a bar joint. Food was good but not $24 burger good and to add insult to injury they added a “non-cash” adjustment. This seems to be a NYC thing .. they already have prices jacked up … who carries cash? Probably should have sat at the bar… but there’s too many choices for there to be a next time.
Very dark inside. The food was ok. Wife had wings which were nice, I had steak sandwich which was little short on flavor. Not enough garlic on the garlic bread and needed more Horseradish sauce. I added that and the sandwich was very good.
I cannot comment on the food but about 15 of us went here after work and was told that pretty much the entire place was rented out (by different parties). Hence, all 15 of us had to pile all our coats, umbrellas, and works bags on 2 chairs in front of the bar. They dont even have a coat rack or coat hooks under the bar which would have helped. Not very accommodating establishment for a bar visit for a few after work hours. We won't be coming here for after work functions anymore. If you do go here, I recommend you reserve space.
The food was disappointing for an Irish pub in NYC. The bangers and mash (pictured)wasn’t great. The sausages were skinny ones that could come from a freezer or been on a breakfast plate. They weren’t the fat sausages I’ve got with this dish elsewhere in the US, Vancouver, and London. The gravy was bland. And rather than the sautéed and braised onions it came with fried onions on top. The Caesar was fine but the lettuce was chopped too small, making it difficult to eat with a fork. The beer selection was good. The bartenders were very attentive and were willing to let me sample beers before purchasing.
The Full Shilling has good food and is a pretty spacious bar. My issue is with the bartender Jack. He was very rude towards a few of the people in my group and went as far as to use explicit language towards one of them. Other then Jack’s outburst, my group had a fun night. With that being said, I do not believe we will be returning.
Half the tables were empty, but available only if you share a tab leaving my group of 6 standing. Service at the bar was poor. Go to any other bar, there's like 50 within a block radius.
$20 for Shepards pie that came in a soup bowl. I thought she brought me the wrong order, I left there hungry still. These places are getting ridiculous with their prices and smaller portions.
Sometimes, very good. 👍. But not consistently good unfortunately! 🤷♀️ Beware. Could go either way!!
Great Irish bar with the rude bartenders you would expect for the last place we go here when we want to have any fun Not bitter just treated terribly Beer was cold and great Just the bartenders are bitter
As a long time customer of Full Shilling I am disappointed in the events of this evening. Joanne was the bartender this evening and I am beyond sadden. I presented my card to pay and luckily I have security on the card and it declined the purchase. I am so happy it did because Joanne was charging me $160 for four passion fruit margaritas, but charged my friend $71.00 after my card decline. I am black and my friend is Caucasian. The fact that Joanne was really trying to charge me more because I'm black and my friend less for being white i will pray for her. I do wish the restaurant goes out of business and someone steals all her money but that would be me being ugly just like her. My family raised me different, polite, respectful, and god doesn't like ugly. I will never return here and i will forward this information to all my coworkers that attend full shilling. We've had company lunches there and hung out late into the evening. Working for two different companies I will make sure everyone know how racist the bartenders are.
Bring plenty of money!! Stopped in today for a pint and expresso martini and was astonished we had a bill of $36.98 😎. So my expresso according to their webpage is $17.00 , guess what the pint of Guinness was ?? No wonder there was 6 people in the bar ! We also gave the bar man a tip .. needless to say he didn’t say I overcharged u as I never saw you before and you’re not local .. nor did he say I put my own gratuity on that bill .. Happy St. Patrick’s Day The Full Schilling hope it stays fine for you !
