The food is delicious and also the walls are covered in beautiful writing
Can’t add anything other than what’s already been said beyond the immense sadness I feel that I’ve lived in this neighborhood for nine years now and just the other day made it in here. This will definitely be a bi-monthly visit from here on out.
Traditional Brooklyn Italian Restaurant! We subways to it for lunch. The portions are huge! I highly recommend the Shrimp Fra Diavolo with creamy rice & peas as your side! The portions are huge, so plan to share or bring home leftovers. They do bring bread and butter to the table for free. The lentil soup was tasty, but it does have pasta in it that is not listed on the menu for those who may be gluten intolerant. The Sole Oregano is why we trekked down. It was fabulous as well. The broccoli was steamed a bit too mushy, but still good with the dishes we ordered.
Great food and lovely staff make this our "go to" family destination. Italian comfort food in a laid back neighborhood place.
Very delicious home authentic Italian grandma cooking. Large portions!!!!! You may want to share unless you are one that eats leftovers for days. Don't expect Italian music playing in the background but you will see plenty Italian people walking in and out ordering to go. That's when you know it's good. You can see the food before you order off their fresh hot bar. I ordered the fettuccine Alfredo which was made fresh in the back and to order. My husband had the lasagna and oh my goodness was it a portion to feed a family of 4. It was cheesy, meaty and delicious. I will be dreaming of this place until I can return and try another dish.
One of the last family style, old school Italian restaurants left in the neighborhood. Was always my favorite lasagna growing up. You can’t go wrong with any dishes. You’re always gonna leave with a full belly and a smile
I almost always get my food to go at Vinny’s, hot generous portions of delicious well prepared food. The guys behind the counter are friendly and always eager to please their customers, their prices are very reasonable. I’ll be back again & again etc…
If I get to choose, my last meal on earth will come from Vinny’s. Are there better Italian-American restaurants in the world? I dunno, I don’t care. There is nothing that defines home to me since I’ve lived away from home now most of my adult life like Vinny’s. It is an institution it is a treasure and it is a place that I cherish. AND what better experience of new and old Brooklyn than getting a little plain cutlet sandwich with some lettuce and tomat, a rice ball and some penne vodka and walking across to Bar Great Harry for a few pints: the actual best bang-bang in Brooklyn. I love this spot and if you are a tourist or if you’re visiting from outside the neighborhood, know that you’re walking into a place that is unimpeachable and effectively ‘perfect’ for what it has to offer.
Hello vinnys, my husband & I are there every weekend, it’s our home cooked meal every time we go. We actullay think about what we will have before we get there! everything is AMAZING. Love the food, with every choice we make. We walk in & we are welcomed like family. Our wine is served as we walk in; the rest of our experience is always great. Love @vinnys of Carroll gardens. Service is great & love the atmosphere always. Our favorite is vinnys homemade cannoli.
The fried calamari was a solid 8.4 a bit chewy but that can be improved, the carbonara was a solid 9, loved how they used the traditional egg sauce wow. That carbonara won me over (this was October of 2024) UPDATED REVIEW OF 12/7/24 I got the same thing, carbonara was excellent, they didn’t fact fix the fried calamari it was excellent, if you come on a Saturday night, you are gonna have to wait but the weight is worth it. This place gets a solid 9.3 from me, the Paisan Vinny himself was there. It was wonderful to see him and talk with him, coming from an Italian family I was able to speak with him in Italian, great guy excellent food, looking forward to trying more stuff from here happy to say this is one of my spots and hopefully yours too.
Mama Mia! This place is a Brooklyn staple, and you can see why as soon as you enter this cozy lil place! Noisy just like my grandmother and mothers kitchens anytime good food was to be had! There is sooooo much love in this food you can taste it! Great service and the staff always make you feel like you are eating at your Italian families table, even if you are not family, or Italian! If you get to Brooklyn anytime soon, go eat there! Just do it!
The restaurant has a fun, lovely decor. It feels authentic, warm, and friendly. The service was slow but it was two people working and it kind of added to the family-run restaurant vibe so I didn't mind. The portions are huge and oh so much cheese! The food was ok. The veal was overcooked, the sauces were pretty good, flavorful, the pasta was also nicely cooked.
Came in with a friend, ordered 4 plates, the place wasn’t busy but the service could’ve been better. Only checked in on us when were on our third dish. Food isn’t amazing but average along with the prices. Ordered the caprese salad (drowned in oil), baked clams, tortellini in a cream sauce, and a veal milanese sandwich (highlight of the night).
I've been coming here for many years. The food is great. But the take out service is horrible. I really don't know why I bother to call in my order. EVERY TIME that I call ahead, they begin to prepare what I ordered after I te
Came here because of all the good reviews but unfortunately I have to disagree. We (myself and girlfriend) received horrible service throughout our experience. Took about 30 minutes to even get seated which I initially thought was ok because the restaurant was full but even after parties left tables took 15-20 minutes to get cleaned and ready for us. Didn’t get water for another 15 or so minutes. No complementary bread or Parmesan cheese, both as promised by the single waitress working the place. Even with a half full restaurant, she seemed to always be taking breaks and working as slow as possible. When the food finally came it was lukewarm (it had been sitting out finished for a while). I didn’t even get what I ordered but just ate it anyways because I was hungry and sending it back would’ve taken another half hour. The food was alright. Took 15 minutes after asking to get the check as well. Maybe it was just a bad day but I’m not sure what’s going on here. As a Californian I understand the cultural differences regarding public demeanor but this level of service is unacceptable. I’m never the one to claim discrimination but us being Asian might have had something to do with this. We saw a gay couple stand up and leave after also not being helped for a very long time. I’ve never been treated this way at any restaurant anywhere in the world before, including places where I don’t speak the a word of the local language. Absolutely do not recommend unless you are willing to put up with total bs for mediocre food.
Friday night I called and made reservations and when myself and family arrived. We were treated badly and told our reservation was cancel.. and was made to feel not welcome especially being an African American family. It felt very humiliating. We were just left standing and told people are eating and the Server just walked away.. racism should never be tolerated.. No one should be made to feel this way.Shameful
This place got recommended from a family friend. And hands down this was the #1 spot to grab my penne al vodka, until all went wrong one day. The order placed over the phone came out completely wrong and it felt like something whipped up on the spot just completely tasteless. I recommend have someone dedicated to taking down orders properly over the phone and if for some reason that doesn’t go well have someone overall with better communication. I do mot look forward to continue going to this place after this very bad experience, not the 1 star rating worth either.
