Shelby's for breakfast today was a very pleasant experience. The food was excellent and perfectly presented, and the service was friendly and welcoming. We sat at a large window watching the planes take off and land as well as enjoying the beautiful landscape of the Tradewinds airport. The restaurant seating was full, and the tables were packed with very nice people, allowing the eating experience to be pleasantly quiet and remarkable peaceful. The food, the atmosphere, and the vast outdoor panarama provided a unique and very satisfying breakfast experience. Shelby's at Tradewinds is my new and required quality breakfast hotspot. I can not wait to visit again.
We enjoyed a delicious dinner! It was a rainy Friday evening, so we didn't get to see the airplanes take off. However, my chicken fried steak was perfect with mashed potatoes and gravy and a side salad. My key lime was wonderful! I could taste the real key lime juice! Kudos to their baker!:) Everyone in our party of six enjoyed their meals. The service was very pleasant and professional even though the restaurant was full! We will definitely come back again!:)
Came for breakfast and it did not disappoint. First of all, this place is sooo clean. You can watch planes land while you eat…even the windows were spotless which is a really difficult thing to keep up in Amarillo! The bacon was the best. My eggs were perfect and the buttery toast is the best around. I saw lots of delicious looking lunches coming out too. Waiters were friendly and efficient. They have prime rib on Friday nights and they also have a special on Thursday nights.
We sat on the patio and we enjoyed watching planes land and take off! The food was amazing!!
I've only tried the breakfast burrito, but man it was delicious! Nice folks in there too.
I came here for a breakfast date and this place is INCREDIBLE! Our waitress was so nice, the food was fantastic. I never clear my plate when I go out to eat, and let me just say my plate was empty when I was finished. Shelby’s diner is a great spot to come by and eat. The atmosphere here is beautiful, such a peaceful spot to eat at. Once again everything that we both got was delicious. I cannot stress this enough, you have to give this spot a try. Definitely will be back. I never write Google reviews but I simply had to for this spot. I was able to see planes come and go which was amazing. Also don’t forget to try the real syrup, it is delicious and worth the extra cost. First time here, won’t be the last. Wonderful experience.
It was enjoyable eating a great meal and watching local pilots take off and land. Try the hamburger steak and chocolate shace.
Great service, great food, clean facilities and who wouldn't want to watch airplanes take off and land while enjoying a meal?
The food was great. May seem pricey, but you get great portions and great home cooked food. Well worth your buck!!!! Our family tried the chicken fried steak, chicken strips, mashed potatoes, okra, fries, green beans, and chocolate peanut butter pie. Yummy!
Food was amazing. I had the famous Chicken Fried Steak. The staff were so kind and attentive. We even had the homemade chocolate peanut butter pie; that was amazing. I have a new spot for homemade pies. Nice atmosphere and view of the runway.
Nice place at local airport. A bit plain on the inside, but food was very good and came to the table quickly. Menu is a bit limited but everything was fresh and tasty. View of runway. They did not have club soda and vegetarian options looked limited. House salad was very nice. Ciabatta sandwiches were very good.
Quirky little joint at Tradewind Airport. Star of the show is its chicken fried steak. A lot of batter but it’s got a good crunch and nice seasoning. The gravy is top notch. The meat is fork-cuttable but could use tenderizing and a bit of salt. Liked the touches of the fresh orange slice, pineapple and strawberry garnishes. Good mashed potatoes and I got the green chile corn instead of the salad. Good call. A bit pricey but the quality and setting balance that out. My wife enjoyed her bacon burger. Chips come with the burger ($3 extra for fries.)
If you like airplanes, this is your Resturant! The dishes are named after different planes, and it overlooks the ramp and runway!
The food was really good and homemade, loved it. It was a little tight inside with the seating, tried to sit outside but the sun came out, and we went even offered an umbrella, so we moved inside.
The restaurant is directly on the tarmac offering amazing views of Landon‘s. Take offs and parked airplanes. Watch the coming and going’s of small aircraft while you’re dining. The ciabatta sandwiches were amazing. Even the chicken fingers were very good fresh cut, french fries and pie that was out of this world. Definitely worth the six minute detour from the highway to eat someplace unique and different.
We sat outside watching the planes as we ate the absolutely 💯 delicious fresh made food.
Great little place. It’s rather unusual to have lunch and watch small planes land and taxi. Staff were very friendly and helpful. I was impressed by the hamburger buns, they held together nicely. Overall, good experience
⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ Absolutely loved our experience at Shelby’s Diner! The food was great fresh, flavorful, and exactly what you want from a classic diner. Portions were solid and everything came out hot and delicious. One of the coolest parts was getting to watch the airplanes take off and land while we ate. Such a fun and unique experience, especially if you’ve got kids or just enjoy something different with your meal. Great food, great atmosphere, and a spot we’ll definitely be coming back to. Highly recommend!
The food is absolutely delicious and the waitress was attentive and very friendly. The atmosphere is great. I will definitely be coming back!
Their hours are a little funky so they are not great for a spontaneous dining choice, but they had a crowd waiting at the door for when they opened at 5:30 that day. Food was terrific. Neat atmosphere - kinda trendy. They have outdoor seating also that is shaded in the evenings. We didn't order the desserts but they looked amazing. We will go again.
Unique Busy Little Restaurant! Omelettes are the way to go. Many different options with toast and hash browns. The coffee was good. The setting in neat. You may have to wait but it's worth it. Server was a bit spacy but it all worked out. Definitely glad we went.
We had a great breakfast at Shelby’s. We were impressed b our waitress and her on-going checking to be sure we had everything we needed. We also enjoyed watching the planes on this very windy morning. The breakfasts were all expertly prepared and the sausage burrito was the best ever!! The chef knows how to make perfect hash browns. Sone were added to the burrito Ali g with a generous portion of sausage, eggs and cheese. Then the burrito was toasted on the griddle. Yum!!!
Definitely will be going back to try the rest of the menu, fun location. Will quickly become a local favorite. Fun watching the airplanes

Place is great the idea of getting to eat while watching a live airport is an amazing experience. My family really enjoyed it

This place is amazing! The food was excellent and service was top notch, but the atmosphere was unbelievable. We got to see a plane take off and land. And within a few feet from us. It's a bit pricey for some items, but worth it.
All of our food was awesome and my kids really liked seeing the planes taking off and Landing.
Cool spot in the Tradewind Airport terminal offering classic American diner fare. The staff is attentive and friendly. The menu is smallish, but fresh and well made. Nostalgic flavors are the norm. The diner has a view of the runway.
Tonight was our first time trying this place out. The staff was wonderful to us, and was very attentive. The special was chicken fried steak, and 3/4 of us got that and I got the wildcat cheese steak. All of it was wonderful! A little pricey but you definitely get your moneys worth, and everything tastes fresh. We each got pie as well and it was wonderful! I also enjoyed that they do not play music in the restaurant. We were able to have conversation without yelling. One thing I would like to mention though is it is very dark in their parking lot (this may be due to it being in the airport). Overall it was a very good experience and we will be returning!
We were told to expect a wait time to be seated but timed it just right and were seated immediately. The portions were generous and flavorful. Our server, Riley was extremely friendly and personable, we never had to ask for a refill on our drinks. Enjoyed watching the aircraft traffic. Highly recommend Shelby's, we will be back.
This past Friday evening (2-13-2026) was our first time at Shelby’s Diner and it did not disappoint. Excellent food and an amazing staff. I don’t remember our server’s name, but she recommended menu items and packed a dessert to go. Great job Shelby’s staff.
Great breakfast watching the sun rise through a wall of windows. Local restaurant with lots of history detailed in pictures, opporyto watch planes take off and land. Bright, neat, and clean. Lots of options on the menu for breakfast, lunch, dinner.
The food was delicious. Portions are large, very satisfied with the entire experience. We also got to see a plane land and another plane takeoff while we were sitting there. Very awesome experience.

It was my first visit and I walked away divided in my thinking. The food was great so in all I guess it is a place I will return to. The service was lacking though it was busy, being my first visit I do not know if it was a normal crowd or not. Being a small private airport it is pretty cool being able to eat right by the runway and getting to see planes come and go. I would recommend at least giving it a shot to form your own opinion and at least the food will be great.
Passing through wanted to check out a local place. Shelby’s came up as good eats place and they weren’t joking it’s at a local small airport. Dining experience was pleasant, service was attentive and everyone was so nice. Food came quick our choices were Boeing burger with french fries plus a Chicken ciabatta with chips, topped off with coconut pie. All good with the exception the fries were soggy not crispy. Loved the history about the man who was a beloved patron of community.

Food portions were good. Bit order side of toast will cost you. $4 for a slice. Service wise. Food came out and forgot that $4 toast and drink i had asked for. Got the drink about 4 minutes later and that toast. Finally got as ending meal. Now wait staff is very friendly just little slow. Overall. Food was okay. Biscuits had a lard flavoring and gravy missing something (did not even finish on took two bites) asked for extra crispy bacon. Got regular bacon no crispy. Eggs cooked perfect and waffle was good too.

I've been here 20 times, but I may not ever return. Its expensive; but worse, the wait staff seems oddly disinterested in being waitresses. 4 of them mostly focused on a collective story of theirs while coffee goes from low to zero. It's simply unforgivable at 18 dollars a plate. Today's waffle, was at first a tiny error of a pancake, but when remade looked more like an accident than a professional attempt at keeping a breakfast shop viable. It was brown and white where the dough was missing, over cooked and thin. Ouch. Yall can do better.
Food tasted good and the service was fine. It's just so expensive for breakfast in my opinion. Two good sized pancakes (what I would consider a short stack) was $16. Whole bill for 2 people (2 meals and 2 drinks) was $50
Food is pretty good. We got an omelet and a pancake and split. Definitely enjoyed the omelette. overpriced for breakfast. NO KIDS menu for breakfast is a crime. Very cramped quarters. Did not receive a single refill. It seems they do a team server kind of thing, we didn’t have a specific server and no one bothered to refresh drinks or get us anything after our order. They were happy to remove plates and inform us how to pay. I noticed they were very quick to rush folks out.

This was our first time coming here for breakfast, and unfortunately, we were disappointed. The waitress wasn’t necessarily rude, but she wasn’t very friendly or pleasant to interact with. She also never checked on us throughout our meal. My girlfriend ordered her hashbrowns extra crispy, but they came out nearly uncooked and were missing her bacon. My biscuits and gravy were very doughy and undercooked as well. We were really hoping for a better first experience.
Wow. This place is expensive for such mediocre food. The food is overpriced, dull and basic. They charge $3 for substitutions otherwise you get a pathetic bag of chips, they charge $3 for drinks regardless if it's a soda or not, and everything is over $10. I was racking my brain trying to figure out why everything is so expensive for such basic lame food and it hit me! There's an airport nearby where people land their little passenger planes and an expensive dull cookie cutter neighborhood nearby too. So this place figures they can charge whatever they want and not give any service and people will pay it. And it looks like that's the case. Food is basic and expensive. Not worth the money at all.
My family and I visited this establishment back in June and let’s just say it was our first and last time. After our food was plated and ready to be served I watched one of the waitresses take fries from my son’s plate and eat them. When I addressed the issue the waitress then proceeded to get an attitude like I was wrong for saying that my son needed a plate that hadn’t been eaten off of before he got it. Beware future customers!!!
Nobody waited on us everyone just stared like we were the walking dead people just wanted to let our grandson see planes while we ate something but no luck
