Avis sur La Campana Amarillo
Their food is always so good. I recommend this place for everyone to try!
The food is always fantastic here it does get busy quickly so go early. I absolutely love the chicken pozole and the hot sauce .
Their motto is Comida 100% Mexicana and it does live up to their claim. I got the chilaquiles in red sauce with a bistec and scrambled eggs. The portions were ample enough for two. The star of the platter was the bistec. Normally these flattened pieces are nothing to write home about but this was tasty, just enough marbling, and cooked well. Solid authentic breakfast.
Our first time was wonderful ❤️ the food was great, the hospitality was awesome. Luisa was extremely nice. With employees like her there my family and I will definitely make this our Amarillo stop for Mexican cuisine.
Today marks my second visit to La Campana. And if you know anything about me it's that I only ever order menudo when it's breakfast time and it's also a Sunday. The good: the caldo on their menudo is just right where flavor is concerned. You can get flour and/or flour tortillas. The restaurant is very clean. The service is great. The bad: no pata available for the menudo. I also don't notice any of the " other" meats that are common to a Mexican restaurant. Things like tripas, lengua, cesos, and the like. My mom ordered a chorizo and eggs plate that looked wonderful. And she said the refried beans had a good flavor.
The food was delicious. The chips were stale. The hot sauce was tasty. The sewer smell was atrocious. The sweet air freshner they kept spraying did not help. UPDATE: As of October the bathrooms are nice and no smell in the restaurant. They have remodeled and made the dining area bigger. The food as always tastes amazing
I've driven past this place for years and never stopped in but I'm glad I finally did. I took a seat and my server was right there to take care of everything. I ordered stacked cheese enchiladas with eggs on top and it was excellent. It was so delicious and very plentiful, to the point I couldn't finish it all. Also their salsa had just the right amount of zip to it to compliment everything nicely. I'll definitely be back. Update June 2022: You really need to come eat at this hidden gem. The food is always great and the service is always friendly.
This place is the best place to eat in Amarillo, hands down! Oh my goodness! We walked in and sat down and we were immediately greeted with a smile and chips and salsa. The hot sauce is a bit spicy but oh so good! I kept gobbling it up. Shortly thereafter, we received our food and let me say the plates were the size of Texas! I had the Steak and Chilaquiles with over easy eggs with a side of beans and let me say it did not disappoint! It was so good and full of flavor. The tortillas weren't soggy but yet cooked to perfection with just the right crunch. The sauce was perfect. The steak was cooked to my specification and complimented the chilaquiles well. My Hubby, ordered the Flats with over easy eggs and he didn't left his head up for a few minutes. I have to admit I tasted his plate before even trying mine and it did not disappoint! He ordered his with cheese and added steak from my plate and it was amazing! We left so full and satisfied! Can't beat that! Make sure you go early cause they aren't open all day and make sure you get the chilaquiles!
I haven’t been to La Campana in probably over a decade since I moved away but I’m so glad I came back today! I had the chilaquiles divorciados and medium guacamole and both were delicious! Everything came out fresh and hot. The salsa was also the perfect level of spice. The only small drawback is the time for service but I wasn’t in a rush so I didn’t mind waiting. They are busy, especially on a Sunday morning, so the servers are working to manage multiple tables. Will be back next time I’m in town!
The food was delicious. Will start off to say that the food is as close to being an authentic home cooked meal by a Mexican Mom. With that being said, our experience there was okay at best. We were a party of 6. (2 adults, 4 children). We had two red pork meals, three kid flauta plates, and one kid enchilada plate. As our first visit we were unsure whether to seat ourselves or wait to be sat. No one greeted us so we just stood there. The waitress finally asked how many of us there were and asked us to choose where we wanted to sit. I chose a section and pulled two tables together. She was rude and non existent when we needed refills or other items. (that's one of the reasons for one less star). The restaurant air conditioning unit from the ceiling began dripping water and eventually just started raining down water. The floor was wet and although they placed a bucket on the floor. . . the floor was still wet and a slip hazard. (Why another star is missing). My niece who was with us ended up getting sick and throwing up after we left the establishment. Not sure if it was the enchilada she ate.
went for the 1st time this weekend to try the menudo...wasn't the best i tell you that....it was not tasty , it was very greasy...and very plain...no flavor , what a disappointment, because this place is always packed especially on weekends... I will try something else next time I guess...
Called and placed a to-go order for 4 breakfast burritos this morning and was told it would be 20 minutes. When I arrived 20 minutes later they were still not ready, but the main issue was the cost and quality. On their website it states breakfast burritos are $4.50, but my total came out to almost $23. I asked what they cost because online said $4.50 and the lady said “oh they haven’t changed it yet” in regard to the website pricing, which isn’t my problem and they should have honored THEIR OWN LISTED PRICES. There was a sign inside that had a list of burritos that had gone up in cost, but these were not on it. Once we opened the burritos, they had very little meat and were DRIPPING grease. I will not be returning due to inconsistent costs, skimping of meat, and disgustingly greasy food. The people I had purchased for also were not impressed and asked where they were from so they wouldn’t accidentally go back.
The worst service for a restuarant. The employees/waitresses are unaccommodating and unfriendly and don't seem to care for the customers. They won't even acknowledge you until the come to take your order. They suck at their job. They take a bit before they wait on a customer and the you have to wait up to 30 minutes for your food the be brought. Last two times I was there it took at least 40 minutes. I didn't tip and felt as if they owed me for the long wait. I don't recommend going there.
Food is amazing but impossible to get service especially over the phone. They hang up on you and when they do answer the phone they put it down and walk away till you hang up then when you call again it’s like your number is blocked because the calls won’t go through.
We love this place, and love the food and hate to leave this review. but they NEVER answer the phone and there’s so many reviews saying the same thing but this doesn’t change. i don’t understand with how busy they stay why they don’t hire a host/hostess. we’ve been trying to call since 10am to place a pickup they haven’t responded once.
The employees that work here run the business how ever they feel like it. Never pick up the phone and when they do pick up the phone they put you on hold and hang up on you. You might as well get rid of the phone number all together. When I told the lady up front what had happened she said they take turns on the phone and that she apologizes. If I could id give it 0/5 stars because it really don't even deserve 1 star.
I love their breakfast burritos and I usually get them for take out. There have been numerous times that I can not get any one to answer the phone. This morning I called twice shortly after they opened and got no answer. I waited about 15 minutes and tried again. They answered and asked me hold for "a few seconds" I waited on hold for 10 minutes after she just stuck the phone in her pocket and could hear her just walking around helping other people. After 10 minutes, she just hung up. This has happened numerous times, but it's been a while so I thought they had fixed the problem. I guess not. I guess I don't need a breakfast burrito that bad.
After bragging to out of town family about this place we went to go have some great Mexican food. We stood by the doorway a few mins, while the cashier helped other customers. She didn't acknowledge us, not even a look our way. Nothing. Even after she was done, just wouldn't look at us. I finally asked if they had a table for a party of 6. She rudely answered that it would be at least a 20 min wait. Which we would've gladly waited but her attitude killed it for us, so we left. I've told others about this place and they've had a similar experience. I didn't want to believe it but I guess they were right. We won't be going back. Owners/management should have a talk with staff.
Wow. RESTAURANT SENDS OUT BAD FOOD AND WONT LET CUSTOMER HAVE SOMETHING ELSE UNLESS THEY BUY THE BAD FOOD TOO??* CHECK OUT RECORDING* I have loved and recommended this restaurant for YEARS but today everything changed. I came in with my wife for lunch. I got my usual and my wife decided to try something different, the chicken flautas, for a change. The food came out and looked great. My wife cut a piece of flauta off and ate it. She told me the chicken didn’t taste right. I encouraged her to return it to the kitchen not wanting her to get sick. The waitress came out and was very polite. We told her the problem and she immediately took the plate and asked my wife if she wanted something else. My wife then said yes and gave a replacement order. I finished my food and my wife waited for hers. After a little while the waitress returned. She said (wait for it) “ I’m sorry ma’am but they (? Who’s they) said if you want to order something else you have to pay for the chicken plate too. (????!!!???? WHAT??!!) I immediately spoke up and said we aren’t paying for bad food. The waitress apologized again and my wife then asked to speak to the manager. The waitress said ok and left. Several times the kitchen door opened and my wife could see a lot of dramatic conversations happening with staring and angry faces through the door to the dining area. Eventually the waitress returns again and said “I’m sorry ma’am the manager is at Sam’s so she’s not coming out.” So in total disbelief my wife asked to speak with the owner. At this time, the waitress explained that it was actually the owner she had been speaking with and the owner who had made the call about not allowing my wife to order more food until she paid for the bad chicken. We thanked the waitress, paid for my meal and left the premises for what will end up being our last time at this establishment. Here’s a tidbit for the owner. Chicken is not very expensive. A half a cup of shredded chicken, 4 corn tortillas, 1/8 of cheese and some oil would have cost you less than $3 including beans rice and condiments. Compare that to the hundreds we have paid visiting your restaurant regularly for over 10 years. Wow. So wow. Just wow.
