Tip: Kacchi Biryani and Khichuri are highly recommended, but be aware that the Kacchi can be a bit pricey. Consider ordering samosas as well.

Avis sur Aladdin Sweets and Restaurant Astoria
A place where people knows your name even after 20 years, and authentically Bangladeshi dishes that are offered in limited selection each day you are always craving each time. I have to have their kolije shingara, murog pulao, and good selection of fish curries when available.
Their food is D E L I C I O U S! Seriously, you need to try it. My first time trying Bangladeshi food, it was a great experience. I ordered one fish, one chicken biryani, a samosa and a kachori. It was all so yummy! The service was nice too, the guy always had a smile on his face. Also the food came in 2-3 mins I was sooo surprised! They even gave us free daal (lentil) and rice which came with the fish. This is such a great restaurant for very cheap. The restaurant itself is small and not "luxurious" but it is perfect for the price and quality. The tea is GREAT too. Everyone go go go!
My go to spot for the Bengali tea n snacks. Somosas are the best in queens. Some people comes from NJ n VA just for their famous chicken roll. Not the healthiest but gosh darn it it’s good !!! Get the lemon ginger tea wo sugar for a heathy option or the regular sweet milk tea. Both great !
Really nice location, spacious and clean. Overall, this place gets busy with people coming in. I had a cool experiences.
The best Bangladeshi restaurant in Astoria. I often go there for their biriani and theari. food is awesome. They have really good sweets also. I like their butterbon it's remind me of my childhood memories.
Tasty food and good manners from the receptionist makes this place favorite for whole lot customers including me. By the way this is a pioneer restaurant in Bangladeshi cuisine and hold a leading position for long time.
Their food captures Bangladeshi cuisine magnificently in a way that no other restaurant from Jackson Heights, nor Hillside Avenue Jamaica can compare to. Interior decor is up to date, seating is usually available, staff is friendly and helpful. Recommendations are the milk tea, any of the sweets, kachi biryani, chicken samosas, and pretty much EVERYTHING ELSE.
I have been going to this place for last 20+ years. This place has been consistent with the food quality for all these years. Customer service is also very good. Finding a parking spot could be challenging though given it's located on a very busy street.
I have no idea what's going on when I enter here but I end up with delicious food every time. I love their jalebi. Look at the chalkboard menu, not the permanent one.
For appetizers, get a samosa, chicken roll, or even a shingara. Ask them about their menu selection for that particular day. Whether kichuri, fish, kachchi biryani, I've never had a bad meal here, honestly. Seriously of the top 3 Bangladeshi restaurants in NY imho.
Excellent Bengali restaurant with a great selection of appetizers and desserts. The customer service is pretty decent, but they've been improving everyday. Will come again.
The best Bangladeshi restaurant. I often go there not only for the authentic bengali food, but for the sweets also. The food is awesome. The sweets are really delicious
Unique and quality food. Especially Bangladeshi food. Good service. Definitely recommend to everyone. Snacks items are super delicious.
One of best places to experience the taste of traditional bengali foods, for both Indian bengalis and Bangladeshis. We had 'Khasir mangsho'(Goat curry) and 'Rui machher Kalia'(Rui bhuna), and both of them were awesome.
Aladdin is my go-to spot as soon as I land in NYC. It is located in a very central location not too far from Manhattan and the airports. Being a Bangladeshi myself, I am very particular and critical when it comes to Bangladeshi food. This restaurant is the definition of homestyle cooking. The people who work their are very friendly and kind as well. Don't miss out!
I have been coming here for years for wonderful Bangladeshi food, tea, snacks and sweets! The taste, quality and service has never faltered. Alladin is always a reliable choice and the people who work there are always cordial, polite and patient.
Folks no joke, I have been trying their foods over 2 decades and I am never disappointed. They cook authentic Bangladeshi food and their snacks are very tasty as well. I recommend everyone whether you are a Bangladeshi or Romanian, try their Chicken-Polau, Tehari or anything they cook. If you are heading that way make sure to call them and if you know what you wanted ask them to reserve for you or they will be sold out. I am thankful to Aladdin.
Food Quality is excellent. I have been going to this restaurant over 10 years. No complaints about food. They only need to continue all food items. Most of times many items they do not make . Price is bit expensive. Staff need to be more serious. They need to create family environment inside. FOOD IS HALAL .
Best Bangladeshi food in NY area in my opinion, very close to the one I had in Bangladesh. It is favorable, authentic but underrated. the fish dishes are really good.
Excellent fresh delicious yummy yummy kebabs, fresh Healthy Grade A. I will give 5 star's. I likes Their outstanding customers service. I never get any old Cold foods. People's are coming From other areas
Great Bangladeshi environment and service.
Consistently good and cheap, seems to be designed to serve the local community which there isn't enough of. The vegetarian lunch set is a really good deal.
Aladdin Sweets & Restaurant, a culinary jewel in the heart of New York City, has been a beacon of Bangladeshi gastronomy since 1993. This beloved eatery is famed for its delectable array of sweets and savory dishes that capture the essence of Bangladesh’s rich culinary heritage. From the flaky, spice-infused samosas to the robust flavors of kacchi biryani, each dish is crafted with traditional techniques and the freshest ingredients. The restaurant’s warm ambiance and the aroma of spices that waft through the air invite diners to indulge in a feast that’s both comforting and exotic. Aladdin’s commitment to authenticity and quality has not only earned it a loyal following but also a place in the heart of NYC’s diverse food landscape.
This is our favorite place for Shami Kebab and samosa . Their other snacks are also good like the chicken roll . We also enjoy the Chicken Roast pulao and Kachi Biryani
I came From New Jersey The Food was amazing and has alot of seats and the temptress was perfect in this weather.
My childhood restaurant most favorite. They never disappoint
Friendly place to be and order Bangladesh fòod. Which is the best of so delicious food.
The best South Indian-style fish curry in NYC The best llish fish curry. Lovely people of Bangladesh. Friendly service. I love this place. Thank you, Aladdin.
Great samosa, shingara, beef curry, chicken curry, etc. Have been going here for 15+ years with amazingly consistent quality. Biryani can be hit or miss, wouldn't recommend getting (only bad thing)
I've never had a better sweets than this. This is one of my favorite restaurants. I used to eat at this restaurant when I went to New York. I have many memories here.
Foods are amazing specially kachchi biryani, haleem and liver shingara. They are so well seasoned. I wish they would put less green-cardamom as it may ruin the taste for some people. Bathrooms and the handwashing sinks could be cleaner. Service could be a little bit better when it comes to cleanliness. Price is fine. I would love to come back time to time.
I dined here with friends last week and we all loved it. This place won my enthusiastic support. Their cooking enhances natural flavors healthfully. This demonstrates proper service standards. This place maintains high standards.
This restaurant makes me look forward to eating out. The interior arrangement shows careful planning. Their menu offered only ordinary fare. The workers delivered efficient service with warmth. This spot will make your visit worthwhile!
The food options is nice but hard to navigate if you don’t know what you want. The service isn't bad just once it gets busy its hard to order but thats all. Decent looking place and the vegetable samosa is great.
They are so popular in NYC no doubt. I like their Rupchanda with white rice. They have best Bhuna Khichuri along with side order of Beef curry! Awesome. I like sweet stuff .so, I have crush on their cream roll. Their food over all good and delicious. Their service is good and quick too. You can take your family and friends over their for a nice lunch or dinner. They don't have any customer parking. It's always different to find a parking. If you are NYC person you know already 😉.
I am not a new york local, so can't compare it to other Bengali restautrants. But was happy with the food I ordered. On two different days tried Tehari and Kacchi biriyani. Both portion and taste was decent
Best test of Bangladeshi cooking food. Most of all foods Quality A plus. But I am not impressed by their Bakery item. They need to upgrade bakery quality. Staff are nice but confused. The lady name lipi is no more working there! So sad. We use to get very quick service from her. Overall this place never compromised with food.
One of the best Bengali restaurant in USA. I can tell cause I cook and I love to eat. One flaw that owners should look into. Instead of one time plates and cups please provide sustainable products for your seating customers. You can make a little difference to save our planet.
Very welcoming and friendly staff. Their tea is outstanding. Nice chicken chapli kebabs.
I tried vegetable and chicken samosas, and tea. It was great.
Better than other Bangladeshi restaurant
Definitely top tier authentic Bangali food , service is fantastic. Their Kacchi and Khichuri taste unreal in a good way . Morog pulau was disappointing, plain inedible and the restaurant environment isnt really fine dining, it is as expected in a Bangla restaurant . One complaint I have is, what's up with the salad ? Just one slice of cucumber and piece of green chili? Bhuh we are Bangalis ..😁
A clean, well managed place on 36th street in Astoria. It is very easy to get to if you take the subway, parking can be a little painful there. The ordering process is a little confusing, was my first time there so didnt know if I order and pay first or pay after eating. I walked to the counter to pay for what I wanted to eat, I was told to pay after I eat. The food was awesome, the service was fast, there is also a restroom. If you are in the area, do stop by, well worth the trip.
Authentic canteen / street food, but no great choice in variety of curry, and not restaurant standard. Good vegetable samosa and chicken pakora. A disappointing "goat" curry - unusually tough, dark meat, firmly anchored to large pieces of bone, which would have been overall better much better if cooked for much longer. The chicken curry was identifiability chicken, but equally "long on bone" and "short on meat". A very watery, thin (but complimentary/free) Dahl. The curry included rice, but that's hardly a selling point at $14. Clean by most standards - a little slow to tidy the tables/floor after guests. A convenient sink to wash hands, with soap, but hand towel paper ran-out in the dispenser. Free water!
It’s payday, and after I get home from work I take a nap. Since I had to leave so early I didn’t realise I hadn’t eaten that day, so I decided (or rather my stomach made me decide) it was time to get something to eat. I’d walked by this place a couple of times, and wanted to go for a while, so I decided now was the opportunity. I went and got the lamb curry with rice that came with a side of lentil soup and some miscellaneous vegetables. The curry was delicious, if only a bit spicy for me, but still more than enjoyable. The rice however, had a hair in it, which was dealt with swiftly and discretely by serving me a new portion with a savoury pudding (pajitu? I wasn’t clear on the name) on the house. Overall a good experience and more than worth returning; I’d give a half store more if I could!
Decent. Good tea and sweets. The shrimp bhorta is really good. Jilapi made with gur (jaggery) during Ramadan months is worth a try. Food is decent in terms of taste but way too greasy in my opinion. All my Bengali friends seem to love it though and it seems popular in the community. They're cash-only which is annoying.
Snacks are great, lunch and dinner are ok. The lunch and dinner stuff is a hit or miss. And they usually miss. There's usually not enough seasoning, not enough spice and too much oil. Everyone really hypes up the kacchi that's only available on Fridays, but I found it bland and oily. If you want Bangladeshi snacks, this is the place to be. Would recommend the vegetable shingara, daalpuri and regular chaa. The mixed vegetable is pretty good, but it's usually underseasoned, so ask for extra salt packets. My go-to breakfast here is mixed vegetable, daalpuri and chaa. Don't try the samosa, it's nothing like back home. The staff is great and the environment is very welcoming. Everything is clean, especially the bathrooms.
The food is amazing. I tried the chicken biriyani and it reminded me of home. But the staff needs to chill and take some classes regarding how to behave with the customers :) We come here for our love for Bangladeshi food and its not a good feeling to be recipient of that rude attitude at times.
There samosa and shingara are not as good as use to be. Tastes are not like use to be. However, we love their food nice place good sitting area. Hope they bring those items authentic taste.
Carry out order $12 for 8 oz of beef curry. The 16 oz container was 1/2 full. I found out when I got home. Too cold to go back to the restaurant. And NO chicken Tikka masala.
We were traveling and stopped here for a quick meal. We ordered goat haleem, vegetables, and a few other items. The portion sizes of the haleem and vegetables were not worth the money, though the food itself was decent. However, the service was disappointing — the person who brought our food had just wiped the floor and didn’t wash his hands afterward. Very disappointed!
Quality has gone way down. Not worth it anymore. Recently got chicken samosas with one of them not even having any meat inside it, only containing the shell. The beef tehari that I had recently was also too mushy.
Beef Tehri was alright. Chicken Biriyani was bland. Top of all, the prices are ridiculous. $11 for both, and the chicken biriyani wasn't even good. Nowadays, the quality of the food is going down and the prices are going up.
All of their foods are overpriced. I had the beef tehari the other day and the portion size was so little for $12!!! I also bought a Platter of Kacchi biryani for 8 people, they charged $17 per person. That’s $136… for $17 u should’ve seen the size of the portion. It’s horribly overpriced. And foods don’t even taste that good, they taste very mediocre. There are other places that has the same food better tasting and better portion size for the price. Sadly I don’t think I’ll be going back to the place again :(
Aladdin’s food quality has gotten bad over the years. Came to get some tea and wanted to get some chicken rolls ($3 a piece) bc it’s the only thing kinda worry having but didn’t get any. Got two tiny not even big triangular samosas ($2.50 each)!! I think this pricing is just too much for such small items. People will buy more if they just lower the prices a bit. I got two small lentil fritters for 1 dollar and they were oily with old oil smell and practically burned. I’m still smelling the oil on my fingers. I got a yogurt box too just to try it and it was meh. I wish I didn’t give in and buy from here today. I usually get the tea only and I’m sticking to that next time.
You don't know what you are eating. All food come from back room. Some aren't fresh. Specially in winter inside is freezing.
We had samosa the first time we went and it was great so we came back to get dinner after a show. We ordered chicken biryani and it was so oily and had no flavor. Very disappointing after how much we enjoyed the samosa. It really just had zero flavor and didn’t seem to have the essential biryani seasoning and spices.
STOP LETTING OLD BENGALI MEN SKIP THE LINE ITS RUDE. THE CASHIER DIDNT TELL THE MAN WHO SKIPPED TO GET ON THE LINE. INSTEAD THEY TOOK HIS ORDER. DO BETTER. also make the samosa sauce. How do you charge 2 dollars per samosa and never have the tamarind sauce?
Food was not fresh. It was heated by the microwave, egg inside the food was cold and meat was not cooked well. When we informed them about the quality of the meat they got upset. We could not finish our food and had to find another restaurant. Stay away.
I want to give zero star if I could. This place doesn’t deserve any star. The quality of food is extremely bad. Not fresh at all. Portion is very little compared to price they charge. I will not go their ever again. Hope most of their customers realize & stop going there.
It’s my second visit here. The other day I loved there kacchi Biriani but service wasn’t professional. Today I ordered a kacchi biriani and request them to Warm my food appropriately. 1st time 75 percent food was cold I gave it to the waiters to warm my food again. They bring it back and this time 55 percent food was cold. Besides that they served food only in plastic plate and plastic spoon. It’s unhealthy!! Food taste was bitter. Before I leave the restaurant I explained the situation to the cashier and his body language was very unprofessional!! His attitude was like “so what? Don’t come than”
The worst place to go. They don't know how to give customer service. The employees are horrible. The ladies who work there are stupid. I wish i could give them 0 because they don't even deserve 1. That's how horrible they are. i can't believe they are running a restaurant like that and people are going there. They should've learn some customer service before they started their business. No knowledge how to treat customers. They think cooking and serving food is all they have to do. they will make people wait hours for their food. They make hundreds mistakes and don't even have the sense to apologize once. Even after they make mistakes, they will be rude and have their stupid attitude. Also their food is tasteless. I hope this review will help many people and they will not waste their time, energy and money.
Got some shingara, patties and puri from them. After bringing them home i realiezed that they are old double fried food and not fresh at all. My wife got food poisoning from this. Horrible experience!
Stuffs are very rude, poor customer service and specially the lady who is working at register ( wearing Hizab)!! They need to learn what’s Customer service in USA( this is not her home, her act as like we’re coming to her home for begging money or foods!!!). We spent money here but didn’t get the proper respect or customer service.Because of these type of employees this restaurant is going to lose customer. We would never ever come back here again and would never recommend to anyone. Because of Aladdin we come here but for poor customer service we r not coming back. Very sad to leave.
I was very disappointed on my recent visit at this place. With some other dishes, I ordered " Chana dal gosht( beef)" from their menu and it was priced for 9 dollars. When I started eating, I figured instead of beef there was horribe smelly mutton in it !!! So you don't know until you taste if is beef or mutton!!! Taste was not good at all. On top I got 2 small bite size pieces in that dish- 1 piece straight meatless bone and another piece just to figure out whether it was beef or mutton !!! You need to think before you order here, actually what are you trying to eat with 9 dollars? I am not cheap but I know, I can eat some better food with that price.
Horrible service, steals money, overpriced compared to similar restaurants, long wait for food. I went there multiple times, always had bad service, this time was over the top, so I had to post a review. First I went to the counter to order, one of the cashier was taking care of a customer, the second cashier was standing there and talking on the phone, didn't care that me and 2 others behind me were waiting. Then a different customer just walks up to the first cashier and orders something and the cashier started taking care of the customer's order, completely ignoring us that were waiting on line before him. Then I had to kind of force my order to the cashier that was talking on the phone after a few mins. Then began the wait... What I ordered usually takes about 5 mins to prepare in other similar restaurants, but here after 15 mins, I had to ask the cashier to hurry up and I got my order 10 mins after that, total of 25 mins. Here comes the best part. From looking at the menu, I ordered $9 worth of food, but the cashier charged me $9.50. I thought maybe I miscalculated and left the restaurant with the food. When I went to the car and checked my food, some of my food was missing. I didn't bother going back to get my missing food. If anyone still wanna go to this place, please double check your bill and the food. I know I didn't loose much money, but its the fact that all these things are happening that I think people should be aware of.
I took 5 Kacchi biryani for take out. My guest came from other state to whom I mentioned the best Kacchi in USA is from Aladdin. And Unfortunately I was so very much embarrassed in front of my guest…the kacchi taste was disgusting..terrible…They used too much of food color/Kewra/rose water (not sure which one ) coz food was smelling like air freshener…Excessive oil in the food. The spice (jhol/bhuna jhol-whatever you say) was burnt. Probably they gave the food from the bottom of the Pot(Hari). The amount was also too less specially the meat. This was not expected from Aladdin restaurant..
Today i took Aladdin Kachhi, it was worst kachhi ever i had. Seems like merely mixing rice, meat and putting a boil egg in a box. There is no real smell or taste of Kachhi rather they have applied Rose Water ! Even Gyro would have been much better than their Kachhi. Not enough meat to finish the meal. If i would have option, i would have given them a negative star. Please don't get attracted by their earlier name or fame.
Extremely hot. Always give leftover food we can fill it. Never get fresh food. Will never go
The staff is rude and obnoxious. There is no friendliness or welcoming smile. I waited 40 minutes and still my order wasn't correct. They don't put the condiments in the bag and when you ask for it, they pretend to not understand. I ordered the roast pulau, the chicken and sauce was covered in oil making it inedible, I got sick from getting this. I will not return or recommend this restaurant for the simple fact that the staff is rude and the food flavor is horrible. It's not a family friendly environment anymore.
Traditional Bengali food, I had chicken roast with pilao rice was one of the best in NY. I would totally give 5 star but because of the server's attitude towards me and other customers -im rating it 1 star. I understand sometimes customer can be difficult but you have to be professional, will I come back for food -100% yes. Will I come back for the service- Never. I hope the owner understands the importance of service- rude service is enough to ruin the taste of your awesome food.
I ordered two roast chicken pulao. The price was too high compared to other store. There was barely any gravy, chicken was extremely dry and rice was very old. Overall, the food wasn’t what I expected and felt like wasted money for no reason.
Once upon a time, this one was one of the best ordinary Bangladeshi Restaurant in NYC. Day by day It's quality gone. Today I had the worst Tehari in my life from here. This is worst than anything ever. It was dry, burned meet, very bad test. Only one thing was better than other, that is price tag!
We ordered Kachi Briyani but hardly any meat was given. This is very unacceptable especially when you pay so much for one order of Briyani. Their standard is going down.
First advice dont go there. They need improve their food quality. Beef bhuna is 100%consist of heavy FAT attached to the meat plus costly a small bhuna is $12. This place has become a butcher house price wise. All that matters if beef was at least taste. It has no taste at all. Ipaid 12$ for pieces of beef fat not meat. There was barely any meat in the container. Do not recommend at all. It used to be very busy and taste..its all gone.
Just went to this restaurant with a five members family and my son found a baby cockroach in the chickpeas (buter dal) with beef curry. We informed the management and left the restaurant since we totally lost our appetite to continue to eat there!!! Do not recommend to anyone ☹️
Very bad service. Food is overpriced. Employees are ignorant of customer concerns. Will not recommend.
It's deteriorated in quality. Used to love this place, not sure what happened. Got Mutton biriyani to take home. Tasteless and no meat. Bad customer service. Called to express my concern and spoke with a guy named Raju. He was not one bit concerned and sounded like he heard similar complaints many times. Not going back for sure.
Extremely tasteless They don’t know how to cook anything Besides it’s filthy place Roaches around food Ayay away from this one If you don’t want to eat dirt and get sick we ate and got sick Go to some Punjabi or clean Pakistani restaurants 🙏
Such a bad food. Everything taste old and chicken roast was over priced. 17 dollar without pulao. Poor customer service. They used to be good. Now just poor
Unfortunately, the service was very poor. During our visit on 12/25/2025, my friends and I ordered duck curry, but it had an unpleasant smell, which made us concerned about the food quality. Based on our experience, I would advise community members to be cautious about dining there.
i don’t do this often like at all but i just came here to say their biriyani is very disappointing and ruined my day ngl, the taste and the beef had no flavor
We were traveling. Very hungry. Food quality was very poor. Restroom was nasty and disgusting. Dirty tables dirty floor.... Hope management will keep an eye on food quality and cleanliness.
Worst kachi biryani I ever had in my life I think chef don’t know what is kachi biryani is and it’s expensive if you compare other bangali place Taste like khichury with very little meat and it’s $14 so guys please don’t waste your money for kachi biryani. such a wasting of my hard earned money not going there anymore
