Avis sur Point Brazil Restaurant Astoria
The reality of this place differs from its reviews. The taste was beyond words good. This place combines setting, cuisine and service perfectly. No line-up needed and employees work rapidly! This restaurant outperforms most city options.
As a big fan of Brazilian food I must say that this place is truly a gem, the food tasted just like you were eating in Rio de Janeiro, homemade recipes and family owned restaurant, is definitely one of my favorites now. Their Coxinhas is definitely a must!. Place was clean, organized and staff super friendly and welcoming 10/10
The pricing reflects the ingredients they use. Complementarily, the staff maintains friendly attitudes. The variety here matches everything I want. You get meaningful quantity for what you spend. Their culinary execution is always perfect.
Finally got the opportunity to come to this place and I'm salty I didn't come here sooner. It's been a minute since I've had some Brazilian food so I came here for lunch. I'm not even gonna complain about pricing in certain restaurants because it pretty much normal now. I settled on some roast beef, seafood fried rice and some veggies for the pallette. The food was heavenly, especially that cut of beef, it should be a sin for it to taste that good. The seafood fried rice was also enjoyable as well. Probably could've went with some plantains food but by how much my plate was already, I decided to forgo it for next time. The food wasn't the only good thing here, quite a good number of divine ladies on this hot Summer day was a treat for the eyes as well. Very much captured the Brazilian essence of the joint. LOL Anyway, next time I come here, I'll give their fish fillet a try. The breading looked superb on that.
So good I've tried to recreate it at home without success. The dishes show attention to detail. You'll notice the spotless conditions and brightness immediately. The service was good and prompt; and the workers were very friendly and helpful. Every part shows excellence.
Quality went down and a lot of the buffet choices we enjoyed are gone. We have not seen the older lady who used to run the place in quite a while. This may explain why. Also, the rotisserie menu is no more. Cost per person went through the roof for the buffet, especially compared to other restaurants in the neighborhood. We were the only customers when we went for lunch on a Saturday. Increasing prices while decreasing quality is rarely a recipe for success in a competitive market.
I came all the way from Manhattan to eat at Point Brazil. I checked Google Maps and it showed the restaurant as open. I also checked Instagram beforehand. When I arrived the restaurant was closed with a sign saying “collective vacation”. Very disappointing
I ordered the sirloin picanha bowl, half of the steak was pure fat. i normally don’t put reviews on here, but do they think i’m a dog? the rest (beans, cassava flour, etc) was alright. i expected more for the price
I’ve been a regular customer, often coming by myself or with friends, and I’ve always appreciated that the food was good, fresh, and reasonably priced. I used to spend around $12–$14 with tip and get a balanced meal with good protein, salad, and carbs. I completely understand that businesses evolve — prices go up, quality improves, and growth comes with new costs. However, in the past 4–5 months, the prices have increased significantly while the portion sizes seem smaller. For example, this salad was $20, and even considering packaging costs, it doesn’t feel like a fair value anymore. The owners and staff are always kind and welcoming, which is something I truly appreciate. My feedback comes from wanting to see this place continue to succeed — if prices need to go up, I’d just encourage making sure the portion sizes or overall value reflect that increase or change the business model.
I went there today with my girlfriend. Somehow each plate came out 38$. So I end up paying 70$ and something with two soda guaranas included. Overprice food for regular food. Would not recommend to anyone
Burger was stale and cold. Coxinha and onion rings were overcooked and dripping in grease. Onions rings were also $8 and barely came with any. Missing items too. Would've been 0/5 if possible
Overpriced, old, and dry food with no seasonings other than a copious amount of salt. The staff has poor English and all menus are in Portuguese. There are more Brazilian aunties hanging out and gossiping at any given time now than customers and this is the reason why. The single worst restaurant I've been to in Astoria.
I ordered from this restaurant and was very disappointed. A portion of my order was missing, and nothing was communicated until I contacted Uber myself. The rest of the food tasted old, and the rice was definitely not fresh. Overall, this was a poor experience.
I paid $65 ($58 without the dessert) for a meal for one. Rice, beans, 2 small pieces of beef, farofa, salad and 1 spoon of puree and bananas + 2 brigadeiros. DO NOT BUY THE BUFFET, this is supposed to be affordable Brazilian food but it’s not. Doesn’t help to “matar a saudade” I compared to prices of their PF on Uber and buffet is so much more expensive for less food. On top of that, they didn’t wrap all the food and all the sauce spiled in the bag and the beef filet was only bone and fat, not even an ounce of meat at the end.
The place is cold. No heat. The service- people do not speak English at all and communicating is really hard if you do not speak Portuguese. The buffet price was exorbitant. $77 dollars for 2 people not counting tip and on one dish meat didn't come. Food tasted like a dirty rag This place used to be good. Not anymore.
