This might be one of my favorite thai fusion restaurants! Definitely a hidden gem, and people need to know about it. The staff were super friendly and helpful with their recommendations. The ambiance was so chill, and the decor was on theme! The food and drinks were top tier as well! I will definitely be back.
One of my favorite local Thai spots! Food is really good and consistent and the service is always stellar. I leave with a smile every time!! I’ve dined in a few times and had delivery often! Both really good!!!!
Food is delish. Hosts are wonderful. Every dish has its great unique flavor and each different from the next . You must come here . You will love it !
Spicy basil fried rice was fire — full of flavor and just the right heat. Thai iced tea hit perfect after. Quick service, good vibes. I’m coming back for sure.
The food was exquisite. Amazing vibe aesthetic and music wise! Great and kind service! Would definitely come back to dine in, again!
I ordered the noodle soup and shrimp tempura—both were absolutely delicious! The ambiance of the restaurant was so pleasant, and the staff were genuinely friendly. Thank you for a lovely experience!
Great restaurant! I got the duck tamarind and it was on point. Waitress and bartender were both really nice- which was a plus for me. Great Ambience as well- very relaxed and soothing playlist.
Bestty & Sophia served us and I had the lunch special Pad Kee Mao with Crab Rangoon. The food was served quickly and very delicious. I frequent this business often and I love it. Highly recommended.
Great place to bring your family or easy dining! We absolutely will be back for a great meals in town. Highly recommend for an authentic Pad Thai especially : ) and so happy we have you here.
this is the go to sit-down thai restaurant in the neighborhood, and there are tons around here! price is always good, whether or not it’s the happy hour or lunch special. always prompt service and spectacular meals - the vibes are unmatched. 10/10 would recommend
Cozy, delicious, great selection of food, great execution, no fuss, no frills. The house cocktails are phenomenal and the food came out fast and absolutely on the money. Hits every spot.
I LOVE this place. They recently renovated, the inside looks way better than before and the thai menu remained exactly the same, taste is the same and food is also the same, there are few things missing from the menu but if you ask them they are kind enough to accomodate your request. I haven’t tried any izakaya food but i will soon!
Heroic the experience was so Hero Thai is such an appropriate name! We opted for a Mango Colada & Muay Thai Punch as our drinks & it was splendid to quench our thirst with so refreshing & perfectly balanced! Look no further than the Look Chin Tod & Sunagimo for your appetizers. Wow and wow! The Look Chin Tod was so spongy & mouth filling with an explosive fish ball taste paired with the sweet chili sauce mwah! The sunagimo was so crispy and bouncy in its gizzard-ness. For our entrees we chose the Pla Lui Suan and if you’re a lover of seafood paired with that tangy, soury & spicy taste, this is for you like it was for me. This has now become my top favorite foods! Definitely give it a chance. The crispy basil duck curry was so comforting, home-y, warm and somehow nostalgic. It has replaced my love for any curry! A Taiyaki, red bean filled ended our day with the perfect dessert that was not overwhelming but complimenting to our palate. Belly filled as we gazed on their unique decor and ambience even with a special animal friend you’ll see in the aquarium!
Stopped in for the lunch special. Amazing pad see ew with shrimp. Total with a Thai iced tea came out to a little over $13. The right amount of spice and food and it came with soup or salad. The soup was a nice light broth that wasn't crazy salty and the tofu was delicious. Great friendly and quick service.
Truly the best Thai I’ve had in nyc. The restaurant workers are all so kind. This is my go to place!
Attentive hosts, great food with great portions, full bar with delicious and strong mixed drinks. Happy to have found this place while just walking down the street, highly recommend if you're looking for a good spot for ramen too.
Had dinner here tonight and everything was wonderful. Cozy atmosphere, delicious cocktails, tasty food and wonderful service. Besty and Chanel were so sweet. And friendly with our little pup. We will be back again!
Hero Thai & Izakaya is definitely a hidden gem serving both Thai & Japanese cuisine since 2018 in Astoria. We were craving for steamed fish in Thai style when we were in the neighborhood so decided to give it a try: 🍸Drinks ▫️Muay Thai Punch $12 ▫️Thai Iced Coffee $4 🍽️ Dishes ▫️Chive Pancake $8 ▫️Fried Oyster $9 ▫️Broadway Steak $24 ▫️Pla Neung Manao - Steamed Fish $35 ▫️Taiyaki with Ice Cream $9 It’s overall flavorful and one of the spiciest Thai dishes we’ve had recently. Most of the broth for Steam Fish we‘ve had were sweet & sour rather than spicy and their version hit so much but really appetizing even though we chose mild in spicy level. We also loved the #taiyaki which was served with vanilla ice cream, satisfying and balanced.
I LOVE the food here. It's a fusion of Japanese and Thai food. We ordered the aburi-shime saba, beef/bacon ninniku, and chili garlic pasta. I also ordered a cocktail, the manago colada. The saba, ninniku, and pasta were MUST tries. They all are so good. The garlic pasta was chewy like lo mein. It was salty with the bacon and garlic-k in the best way. It's was SO GOOD, almost addictive. The majority colada was so good, but it got me tipsy very quickly. I highly recommend checking it out. I'm excited to come back again to try other things on the menu!
So good!!! Thank you GrubHub for the free mush lunch today for under $3 for two. Me and the misses utilized todays free lunch promotion to try out this Queens Find. It was worth it in every way. the food was prepared perfectly and presented at the door when I arrived. The flavors are amazing here I can’t wait to come back and try more. Yes you read that correctly less then $3 #GrubhubFreeLunch
It's a Beautiful place. Delicuous meal. Perfect music, a great environment. I'd go back again to try another dishes, and beverages. With great values...
A very lovely spot - cozy and pretty decor. The food is very yummy and decently authentic (I’m a Thai food snob after living there for 6 months). The staff is very sweet and attentive. I’ve been here 3 times and have no complaints.
We were looking for a good spot for dinner on Broadway. We decided to check out this Thai and Asian spot. I ordered the ramen that has the coconut milk base and let me tell you that this was out of this world!!! So much flavor, I've never had such a sweet and savory ramen before. I love this place!! The waiters were very nice and the spot looked quite nice inside. I would definitely come back here again!!
This is my go to spot for both take out and solo dine in meals. Been coming here for two years straight! My favorites are chicken satay, crab Rangoon, mango and salmon salad over coconut rice and I always always ALWAYS have to finish with the mango sticky rice for dessert. Staff is so pleasant and friendly and food comes out fast and fresh! Always happy and full when I leave :)
Hero Thai & Izakaya is an absolute delight! We had an incredible meal, and the PLA NEUNG MANAO (steamed red snapper with chili lime dressing) was hands down our favorite—fresh, flavorful, and perfectly balanced with spice and citrus. The shrimp and crab meat fried rice served in a baked pineapple was another standout, and the crispy duck roll was the perfect combination of crunch and savory with hoisin-tamarind sauce. The papaya salad was light, refreshing, and had just the right amount of heat. And the fried green tea ice cream was a nostalgic treat, taking me right back to childhood with its crispy coating and sweet mix of strawberry and chocolate syrup. One unique touch was the fish tank inside the restaurant, where an active little frog kept us entertained throughout the meal! It made for such a fun atmosphere. Highly recommend Hero Thai & Izakaya for both the food and the experience!
I came across this thai and japanese spot and it did not disappoint. it can satisfy your craving for both! prices are super affordable. we got the squid legs and chicken curry puff as appetizers and both were so good. the main dishes were even better. we got one of the fishes and salmon dish. the fishes tasted fresh and were soft. can’t wait to come back!
I always opt for delivery from here when I’m in the mood for Thai food. Their delivery service is fast, and the packaging is always secure. On July 4th, I finally had the chance to dine in with friend. The atmosphere was pleasantly relaxed, and the restaurant wasn’t too busy. I loved the unique decor, which featured old Thai film posters alongside Japanese elements. Now, let’s talk about the food. We started with the Tako Wasabi, which had just the right amount of wasabi spice to clear our nose —delicious! Next, we tried the Takoyaki, deep-fried chicken gizzards, and fried squid legs. All were fantastic. My personal favorite was the mango salad with avocado, served medium spicy and perfectly sour—just what I had been craving. For the entrée, our server recommended the Broadway steak with spicy Pad Cha sauce, which was superb. The beef was tender and paired wonderfully with the sauce. The steamed fish with spicy lime dressing, served on a hot pan, was another highlight. The spice level was perfect, and the fish was fresh and flavorful. We also enjoyed the pasta with spicy garlic sauce and bacon. Mango sticky rice was delightful. The sweet sticky rice complemented the fresh mango perfectly. They offer happy hour from 4-7 pm every day, which is a fantastic deal. Our servers, May and PK, were exceptionally friendly, attentive, and helpful, ensuring we had a great dining experience. I highly recommend this place if you find yourself in Astoria.
One of my favorite places to grab either lunch or dinner. The portions are so generous and it’s always such a fun atmosphere when I come in. they have one of the best lunch special steals on the block for 11.50. The takeout is always super quick and again everything on the menu is so delicious 😋😋 Got the pad ki mao this time
Nestled in the heart of Astoria, this unique Thai and Izakaya spot offers an incredible variety of Thai and Japanese cuisine. From flavorful Thai starters to delectable Japanese appetizers, there’s something to tantalize every palate. The duck roll is a must try. It is so yummy. The Branzino with pasta is also very good and The Broadway steak serve with the hot plate looks amazing. The food is not only delicious here but also served with impeccable service. We ordered : Deluxe appetizer Duck roll Chili garlic pasta w grilled branzino Broadway steak Mango sticky rice Fried ice cream Thai ice tea Mango ice tea Follow @spinx17 for more NYC food recs!
This is my daughter and I second time trying Thail in the area. And THIS spot is amazing! Bestie and Boom were kind and accommodating. And they were also interested im our Thai food tour of nyc; very personable. The atmosphere was beautiful!!!! And the music matched. 5 stars all around. TOTALLY RECOMMEND!!!!! I got veggie cashew nut and my daughter got plain padseeew. The picture speaks for itself... CHOOSE HERO THAI & IZAKAYA 🍜🍛
I had an amazing experience at this Thai restaurant! The food was absolutely delicious full of rich flavors and beautifully presented. But what made my visit truly unforgettable was the service. Yui and Best were my servers, and they were incredibly sweet, attentive, and caring throughout the entire meal. They made me feel genuinely welcomed and taken care of. I can’t thank them enough for their kindness. I’ll definitely be coming back again soon!
My favorite restaurant in Astoria. We even did our wedding rehearsal dinner here! They have fantastic Thai and Japanese food and the best coconut rice I’ve ever tasted (including the time I lived in Asia!) Great service and great prices considering how good the food is. Must go!
A lovely Thai, Japanese eatery on the beaten path that is never too loud or crowded. The food and service are top tier and their variety of options are astounding. Would recommend any of the wok noodles, ramens and soups in particular! Also really enjoyed their curry options which are so comforting and savory! Highly recommend for lunch and dinner.
This spot is the perfect spot if you are debating between Thai or Japanese food because they serve both! My partner and I loved their lychee flavored drinks like lychee soda and lychee Thai tea! For appetizers we had the jumbo sweet chili wings and they were indeed jumbo!! Also tried the fried squid legs which we loved the dipping sauces they came with. For entrees we had the Broadway steak and crispy duck noodles. The service was amazing and they made sure we were content with our food and checked in to make sure nothing was too spicy! I really enjoyed the duck noodles and loved how tender the duck was! For dessert, if you love mango sticky rice, it’s a must have! The presentation is beautiful!
I had a great time here! The service was amazing. Our waitress Bestty was super sweet and very helpful. She made us feel comfortable and gave us the best dessert recommendation — a mango dessert that was so good, it felt like eating a hug! Kevin, the bartender, made the best margaritas! So fresh and tasty. The drinks were great — margaritas were only $7 and the chardonnay was $6. Everything tasted fresh and high-quality. The food and drinks were not expensive, especially during happy hour. I really enjoyed everything. Thank you Bestty and Kevin for making our night special! 💖🍹🍰
Best food I've had in some time! I really recommend this place. Nice relaxed atmosphere and the staff (Sophia in particular) is truly nice and helpful. We had the best papaya salad, and an AMAZING Tom Kha soup. The other dishes were great too, and we were surprised by the large portions. We even had a dish boxed because we couldn't finish it all (and we eat a lot). Definitely coming back.
Excellent Thai food in Astoria, and honestly, it keeps surprising me. First off, their happy hour is unreal—Sapporo drafts from 12 to 7 PM at a price (5 bucks) that feels too good to be true. Perfect excuse to stay a little longer. The food? Incredible. The Thai dishes are the real deal—flavorful, well-balanced, and consistently delicious—but they also have solid Japanese options if you’re in the mood to mix it up. The bar is stocked with all the essentials and never disappoints, whether you’re in for a casual drink or something to pair with your meal. One of my favorite little touches? They hand you a complimentary bowl of popcorn when you walk in to order. It’s small things like that that make a place feel extra welcoming. The bartenders and waitresses here are top-tier—super attentive, always on point, and they bring great energy to the place. You can tell they genuinely enjoy what they do, and it makes the experience even better. And if you’re looking for a date spot, they always go all out decorating for the holidays. Valentine’s Day here? Absolutely a move. If you’re in Astoria and haven’t been here yet, you’re missing out.
I just had an incredible meal tonight. I was really craving Thai and this place did not disappoint. OUTSTANDING! Started with the coconut shrimp and crab rangoon then moved on to the main course of Pad Thai with Shrimp and extra mixed vegetable. The staff was friendly the vibe of the place was colorful and inviting. I can’t wait to come back!
Hero Thai Food is a gem! The food is absolutely phenomenal. We loved the Massaman Curry and the Crispy Pad Thai. Everything was fresh, flavorful, and packed with authentic taste. The service was fast and super friendly. The restaurant is clean and has a great vibe. Can't wait to come back! Highly recommended.
So cute! I love the aesthetic and the food! The Thai iced tea is a must order. It comes with an ice cube in the shape of a bear (filled with Thai iced tea). You can't get that anywhere else! We ordered the lychee duck curry and the pineapple fried rice. Food came out quick. Service was excellent. The ambiance is also stunning! I love the hanging flowers. Will definitely be back.
If you’re looking for bold, flavorful Thai food in Queens, NY you don’t want to miss Hero Thai & Izakaya This place perfectly blends Thai street food with a cozy, homey atmosphere that makes you feel like you’re enjoying a meal with friends back in Thailand. Authentic flavors, warm vibes, and a true taste of home. Delicious food – Classic Thai dishes full of flavor Great drinks – Both mocktails and cocktails to enjoy Excellent service – Friendly and attentive staff Whether you’re craving a taste of Thailand or introducing friends to real Thai food — this spot is a must-visit!
Hero Thai has a trendy, relaxed Asian vibe to it. And it's conveniently one block away from the subway. Surprisingly, it's very rarely crowded. The staff is super friendly. They were patient enough to answer questions I had about their menu. I noticed that they recently changed up the menu and prices have gone up a bit. It's still mainly a mix of Thai and Japanese dishes. Yesterday we ordered food to go. We got the crispy pork belly basil, hero wings and samurai dumplings. The total came out to around $28. A little bit pricey but I guess that's Astoria for you. The pork belly had a nice kick but the meat was a bit overdone. The samurai dumplings were good but forgettable. The wings were my favorite. It came with a nice sweet and spicy dip. I need to come back and try more items from their new menu.
Japanese and Thai options. Food is good and light. I went for a quick lunch in a Friday afternoon and I had pan-fried octopus balls for appetizer (very rich), grilled salmon with spice curry sauce and lychee sangria. Place is not crowded and staffs are friendly and quick to help.
Loved the ambience and vibe. Waitress was really nice. Food was great! For sure going back to try more food, I love how the variety of the menu.
Pretty good. Wouldn't say this is my favorite thai restaurant in Astoria, but you can be guaranteed a quick yummy bite here. No frills and good portions for not to expensive a price. I had the chicken red Thai curry and my husband had basil fried rice. We shared the fried ice cream for dessert.
Had a lovely lunch special here. Got pad see ew with spring roll and miso soup with Thai tea. Great flavor, great portions, great price. Wasn't a fan of the crab rangoon but my boyfriend liked it. Really appreciated the little frozen thai tea bear and how packed the miso soup was and how excellent the service was
Service is very kind, but the Pad Thai I ordered was very sweet, syrupy, and overcooked.
Seeking an authentic Thai experience? This is the place to go; the food was well prepared and severed in an authentic Thai format. Staff were pleasant and very accommodating. The establishment itself could do with a make over, its dated and from the outside dose not seem too welcoming. It does little justice for the great experience that awaits inside.
I ordered through Seamless. The food arrived on time, but when I opened it the noodles were mushy, orange, only had 3 pieces of chicken, and had old vegetables. I called the restaurant over 10 times till someone finally picked up. She was rude on the phone and told me to deal with seamless. Never again. Too expensive for what you get.
WARNING! DO NOT EAT HERE! Sad to leave this review as this was our favorite Thai restaurant in the neighborhood. Ordered takeout and to my wife’s horror we found a sizable roach in the red curry tofu! We were issued a refund after complaining but never received an apology from the manager or owner. I have recommended this place to friends and family. The worst part is the food here is honestly delicious. If you don’t mind eating roaches then I recommend Hero Thai, otherwise stay away. If this is what they offer to customers I can’t imagine what else is hiding in the kitchen…
