Could well be the best vegan food I have had anywhere, ever! Got an ample serving for the $16 charge for lunch. It was a nice, healthy assortment of beans, rice, cooked vegetables, soup and salad. Everything was delicious. Colorful and nourishing. I only wish that I had discovered it sooner, since I'm only in Austin a couple days more. I cannot recommend this place highly enough! 🙂

This is my favorite place to visit when I come to Austin! And I’m not even vegan. But the love that goes into their food. And this space is soooo zen. Heavenly! You must go!

I’ve been coming here the last 2/3 years. It’s such a unique experience. I literally feel like I’m in South America when I’m here. Casa taught me that you can eat vegan food AND it taste great. What a cool place! Can’t recommend it enough :)

This little community space is pretty special. The restaurant itself offers soup, salad and a main dish. It's plant based and quite delicious. It's a very chill vibe and there's seating inside and outside. If you'd like coffee, there's a shop nearby and you can order it there and bring it to enjoy with your lunch (they're ok with this, I asked).

Amazing spot and the food was delicious. The menu is set. You pay per person and each person gets the menu + a tea(s) or water. They are focused on healthy living and clean energy ✨️ Highly recommended.

The vibe is immaculate here, which makes food only part of the focus, because the space here is designed to attract those that are looking for a level of inner peace, and I was absolutely down for it. The food was simple, healthy, and delicious, and I had a great time consuming everything from vegetables to legumes to tea. One meal portion was $16 per person and I was served a plate of food that contained sauteed vegetables, salad, lentils, and steamed vegetables with sauces. Everything was delicious. Since I normally loved cooking vegan at home, some of what they served here, especially lentils, matched exactly what I would have cooked. The soup and tea were amazing as well, and there was a piece of paper on the table with explanations about the tea. Even on a Monday in December, this place had everything that I needed. There was a hammock outside, a path to walk on, and a bulletin board with flyers advertising all types of local events that were along the lines of healing and inner peace. That further solidified my perceptions about how this place would attract people whose energies aligned with what this place was trying to surround itself with.

I was going to take a picture of the food but it looked so good it completely passed my mind. The food always tastes fresh and it feels good to put in your body but what does it for me is the atmosphere. It’s quiet and peaceful just a good place to have a good meal.

Absolutely unbelievable! Healthy, delicious food made with love and passion. This is a truly authentic organic vegan restaurant — not some fancy, bougie Hollywood spot. Expect real food and a real atmosphere. The vibe here is part of the experience, so make sure you respect and enjoy it. The staff is super friendly, and it’s a great place for kids as well. There’s no menu — you simply get what they’ve freshly prepared for the day, and trust me, you’ll be pleasantly surprised every time. A must-try for anyone who cares about clean eating, great energy, and genuine hospitality. Highly recommended! 🌱✨

My parents and I visited this place, expecting vegan food, but not too much else. Upon arriving, we were beyond blown away. The place is inundated with nature - trees, flowers, plants, waterfalls, rocks... Everything is peaceful and quiet. The food was nourishing and delectable. The place itself is well-managed and decorated beautifully. It is as if everything that I could possibly imagine about feeling connected to people and nature, and about my well-being put first, are all packed into this one place. I can hardly believe it. This place assures me that no matter what situations life brings me, there is hope. There is knowing that anything that goes on in the outside world, or any hardships people face, can be solved, or at least be seen from a better perspective (if that makes sense). I would love to know more about meditation, kundalini, and so on, since these have interested me for a long time. Unfortunately, I have a lot to think about in my life as is. Nevertheless, this would be the place to explore those subjects. At Casa de Luz Village, you not only eat guilt-free, healthy and nourishing food at a reasonable price, but you also get to embrace how beautiful human communities and nature can be when put together. It makes me wonder why suffering and injustice exist in this world in the first place. We need more spaces like this, not ones that incite negativity or competition. Highly recommend this place to anyone.

Casa de luz and her staff are full of heart and devotion from my experience in this community. I witness the beauty and kinship that has been fostered here from this village for decades. With macrobiotic food, mindful and tropical atmosphere, community gatherings and events, the innovative and kind spirits I keep meeting in this beautiful place. Casa De Luz is so multi faceted and with Barton Springs I would say is the Heart of Austin Texas. Over my last 5 mo ths here, far from perc Felt yet so so enriching; Casa De Luz is the sanctuary where I have been blessed to study, learn, serve, and teach. This village is also ran by the kind devoted hearts of her family staff as well as deeply supported by it's patrons and benefactors. If you would like to experience a place to meet new wonderful people, challenge yourself in deep meditation and compassionate offerings designed to help us heal and grow, as well as explore the enduring example of what is possible for our future, please come visit or donate. And don't take my word for it, please see and experience for yourself. Namaste 💚

I ate here a couple times when I lived here years ago, so I was pleasantly surprised when they were open and serving the same wholesome meals when I was in Austin for a weekend. So delicious and nourishing. You pay for your meal and then choose a tea and they serve you a tray with a homemade soup of the day and an enormous plate of food. The seating is family style and there is loads of outdoor seating and a large outdoor playground for children to play on. There were also hammocks and beautiful little paths to walk down. Great experience.

Such a great calming space in the middle of the busy city. 🌱💫 During our Women and Climate Austin meetup for September we’re able to come here for amazing conversations and delicious plant-based food. Grateful for the space to connect, share, and dream big for a more sustainable future.

🌿 Casa de Luz Village – Austin, TX If you’re looking for peace on a plate and vibes for the soul — this is it. Casa de Luz Village is more than a restaurant. It’s a sanctuary. An experience. A sacred space rooted in holistic nourishment and intentional community. ✨ 100% vegan, gluten-free, organic, and sugar-free — all prepared fresh daily. There’s no menu. Instead, the meals shift with the seasons, ingredients, and inspiration of the chef. You walk in, you’re greeted warmly, and then — you’re served a complete plate: soup, salad, a nourishing main dish, and optional add-ons. 🧘🏽 The entire space feels like a retreat. Tucked near Zilker Park, the lush garden pathways, open-air courtyard, and communal tables invite you to slow down and breathe. You can dine in peace, surrounded by bamboo and stillness, or chat it up with like-minded folks. 🍰 The desserts? Listen… next level. I had a cacao tart that was gluten-free, oil-free, and absolutely divine. Sweetened with whole ingredients that didn’t weigh me down. Pure bliss. 💚 The staff is incredibly kind, and Casa also hosts yoga, movement classes, workshops, and wellness events in the adjoining studios — all part of the Village vibe. This isn’t just a place to eat. It’s a place to reconnect — with your food, your body, and your spirit.

Cannot say enough good things about this place. This is my most favorite place to eat in Austin. I love the atmosphere, the food, the workers, everything. I’ve eaten here countless times and it’s always been perfect. The food is high quality, unprocessed and all plant based whole foods. I tell everyone I know to come here. I’ve recently moved out of state and everytime I come back to Austin, this is where I go. They have a beautiful outdoor seating area where you are canopied by the trees. They also have a playground for the kiddos. Inside is a cafeteria like seating area with cozy lighting. They even sell their own cookbooks! This is truly a 10/10 place.

This place is quire magical! Once you step into it, you’re transported in a good, chill, relaxing energy space - it resembles a peaceful meditation retreat where everyone transmits positive energy. The food was great! Very healthy vegetarian dishes - and the desserts were good and healthy as well! I’d definitely come back to try more and relax. Super recommended if you need a getaway from the city life or just life in general.

The best deals here: - the taco breakfasts (I believe on Thurs and Sunday though I could be wrong about the dates and I do wish they posted menus online): about $3.5 for a single taco which you can fill yourself and the corn tortillas are handmade and the highlight here. Wish they had them everyday! -Amaranth porridge for breakfast - about $5 and comes with raisins, nuts, and cinnamon -during dinner hours you can sometimes get a pretty big plate of beans and rice for $8 which is not the best deal but not bad either for something very high quality I work next door and it has been a life saver when I foroet to bring lunch. Once they gave me guac for free with it and that was really good too. The full plates are quite expensive and though the ingredients are good quality it's not really my cup of tea. Mainly because some of the vegetable sides are too heavy on the onion. Some have described the food as bland, which is true, but I honestly like not too heavily spiced food sometimes. Everything has its place. I just wish they went further and didn't use onion/garlic (ik this establishment is not strictly that way but I am talking about ayurvedic practice of avoiding alliums). The cashew sauce is a knock out tho. Speaking of tea, the kukicha and the hibiscus lemongrass are both very good. Again, the type of food and the scene is not my favorite but I have massive respect for this place as an Austin institution that has been doing its thing for 30 years. The guy who runs it and all the staff is very kind especially Sheri(?) Jesus and Eduardo and it's in a beautiful and unique space you can sit in and work all day.

I went for breakfast on a rainy morning. I specifically went here because at a vegan gluten-free place I know I can eat anything since I have a gluten and fish allergy. I am not vegan, but after a night of barbecue, I wanted something healthy. It was a self-serve buffet style. My favorite dish was the white sweet potato soup and the oatmeal. for $12 and some change it’s a great amount of food that kept me full through most of the day. I would not say it was all super flavorful, but it was filling and healthy and that’s what I was looking for.

This place was delicious. The soup was a little bland but all the other dishes were good. I could barely understand the cashier. She was slightly incompetent. The price was $15 per person and included cold or hot tea. Desserts were $5. I had the chocolate pie. It was okay. It needed more fatty creaminess to it. The inside and outside atmosphere was nice. A fireplace would improve the place a bit. I would definitely come here again. You have to pay for parking. $2 per hour. Takes cards or coins.

Quiet Passions
Quiet Passions

Absolutely disgusted by the way my family was treated at Casa de Luz. We are long-time Austin locals and have spent thousands and thousands of dollars here over the years. This morning, I asked the front desk what food was available. I was told black beans. I said great. When I went over to the station, there were only lentils. I calmly asked where the black beans were and was told this was all they had. I took a very small amount of what was left and gave it to my children. Right after that, a fresh pot of black beans was brought out. I asked why this wasn’t communicated to me. Instead of answering, the woman ignored my question and then rudely accused me of taking too many lentils. That was simply not true. I was told I could only have one tiny scoop for five dollars. At that point, this place felt like a rip off, and the service was even worse. This same woman has also yelled at my child in the past for wasting food. I’m sorry, but what I pay for with my own money is nobody’s concern, especially when it comes to whether a child finishes a plate of food or not. No restaurant anywhere should be yelling at a child over food. That is completely unacceptable. I had no choice but to report this to the front desk, leave a review, and attempt to contact management, because this behavior should never happen. Especially not toward long-time locals who have supported this place for years. I am beyond upset about how my children were treated. Casa de Luz was once the one place I could call home when I didn’t have family. It was a place of community and safety for me. Now it feels like a place that nickel-and-dimes customers and shames them, even children, over food. To say I’m disgusted is an understatement. This is not how human beings should be treated, and certainly not in a place that claims to value community. Get your act together. Treat people with respect, and treat our children with care. They are the future of our world.
