I miss the Mexican food from back home and these guys are the first Mexican restaurant I have found in Texas that I liked. To be fair there the first ones I have tried in Austin, but forget about finding good Mexican food in Bryan or College Station.. friendly with really good pisole? Only thing I would like to see is an option for whole pinto beans instead of refried and maybe no lettuce ony burrito.. I'm sure I could have asked to hold the lettuce had I known it was going to be made like that.. even in spite of that the food was so good.

I stopped by for a breakfast. The staff was friendly and the food came out very quickly. I had Huevos Mexicano. It was simple but delightful. Super inexpensive. I would go back in a heartbeat.

Have been coming here since I was 8 yrs old! Customer service is so nice! And honestly they keep trying to improve and improve ! One of my favorite restaurants! ❤️

Siempre tiene El mejor salsa verde (tomatillo). Also the tacos Al pastor and the breakfast specials are great. I've been coming here going in 15 years. Management and staff has changed plenty but the food stays consistent.

N

Waitstaff very attentive to my needs with access to a close table accessible to my wheelchair and making sure my drink, chips, etc were within my reach. So considerate.

The breakfast plates are very filling. Food taste home made. Tacos are super stuffed.

We have been coming to this restaurant for 20+ years. We've NEVER had a bad experience as some are posting here. The food is authentic Mexican. Maybe those who don't like the food should stick to Taco Bell!

Great food and friendly staff. I am still working my way through the menu, but have not found anything I didn’t like yet. Fresh corn tortillas are great. Good selection of Mexican candies at the counter.

We love this place everything you order is amazing. The people are very nice too. Its a good place if you want to feel at home and have some great food too.

The food here is always awesome, not just for dive Mexican or for a chain (which it technically is) but seriously good. Especially for the price. Large portions and clearly hand made fresh. Waiting game is hella strong.

I love eating at this restaurant. We stopped eating years ago, but recently visited again. The food was amazing! Their quality definitely improved.

I'm a regular here and the service is always so nice but they do skimp you on the limes but other than that the food is wonderful and so is the atmosphere and service

Love this place. I've visited here and there and went there for the first time in 2013 ish. The quality of food has stayed steady since then and eating here is such a treat. Also, the amount of effort put into the seating decorations is wild lol.

This place has never disappointed. The hot sauce is just a hair too spicy, but the food is fantastic. And well priced. If you are craving Mexican food then eat here.

Simple and fresh Mexican food at very reasonable prices. Try the soft corn tacos $2.95ea or hamburger meat burrito plate with rice and beans tortila chips and fresh salsa about $8. Can't be beat. Learn a little Spanish cor free!

The best menudo I've had other than my madre. Lots of meat mixed with a equal balance of hominy. I love, love this resturant. Their tacos are equally fantastic especially my favorite, carne guisado with cheese. Please keep up the great work. You are a step above the best mexican resturant in Austin.

The best chile relleno I’ve ever had! I order it every where I go but this place is THE BEST, nowhere else has been able to compete. I order it at least once a month from here cause it’s that good, 10/10 recommend

I've been going here ever since I can remember. I love the staff and the food, you get so much for your money. The avocado burrito is a great vegan option, and extremely filling. They also always have great chips and salsa.

Food. Good. All of the dishes here are tasty, I really like the carne guisada. However, their best offering for me personally, the nopalitos. I am not sure what they do differently than the other spots around town but they are really flavorful. I get them every visit either with the plate or as a larger side. If you like nopalitos, but don't want to go through the trouble yourself, they are worth the trip. Enjoy!

It's a hole in the wall type Mexican place. The food and service was great. I'll definitely be going back. The interior is smaller than you'd expect so it feels cozy when you're inside. The noise level was minimal so you are able to have a conversation without feeling like you are yelling. The paintings on the booths and chairs are interesting to look at and kept grabbing my attention. There are also TVs...they had sports on when was there.

We have been coming here forever!! The food is great, the staff are super nice, and the portions are big. Prices have gone up quite a bit but, so have all the ingredients they use to prepare meals so we get it. Still it's a treat to eat there 🥰

Been coming here since 2001 during M&M Skatepark Days. It's nice to go to a place in Austin with familiar faces and great food. I love there Chicken Tostadas, no tomato. Thank you Arandas!

Stopped in on my way out to Houston this morning and had a lovely breakfast. Delicious salsa and refreshing agua de jamaica. The staff there were very kind about my cash shortage and offered to cover the last 67 cents, of course this meant I had to go back to my car and return with extra bills to tip this generous treatment! Lovely lovely establishment I hope to stop by next time I'm in town 🩷

It was my first time in this AM for breakfast tacos and was pretty impressed. I grabbed them to go but it was very nice and clean inside. Nice staff. Food was solid - tried three different kinds and all we're very good. Awesome corn tortillas in particular. Will definitely be back, next time to sit down and watch a game with a 🍺!

If you haven’t been to Taqueria Arandas yet… you’re missing out BIG TIME. First time here and WOW. The staff was so friendly and walked me through the menu like I was family. My friend Raul (this is his go-to spot) told me I had to try it, and he did NOT lie. I ordered the taco lengua and carne asada with nopales on the side — every bite was fresh, juicy, and packed with flavor. Raul got the chicken mole and enchiladas, and they looked so good I almost stole one off his plate (that’s my order next time). We also got a pineapple drink and mixed it with Topo Chico — it was so refreshing while it was 97 degrees outside The guacamole? Fresh, creamy, and absolutely addictive. Prices are so reasonable it feels like a steal for the quality. Fresh food ✅ Friendly service ✅ Prices that don’t hurt your wallet ✅

Let me start with the salsa. As I always will with a Mexican food restaurant. It's so good. I'm ordering the alambres as it was recommended by the waitress. That's how I order generally. This is mid review and so far my salsa has been refilled. They saw I was a reviewer 😆 so they brought me their green salsa as well. Muy bueno baby! That's that fire right there! Love it. My order will be here soon and I'm having a great time. Good music. Good South Austin vibe. It's all good! Wow! The whole meal is spectacular in such an unnoticeable south location and I love it! Gotta try this place for sure. Rice and beans are the only thing mediocre. See what I'm saying? BOSS 💪

It always has been one of my favorite places to eat. It's authentic and hits your stomach perfectly every time. Having been born and raised here I highly recommend it. Very nicely priced compared to many others. The staff have been there a long time as well. The quality is usually a 10 🌟. Now I finally added some photos of probably my favorite restaurant in Austin since I was born and raised here. I went with my girl on the 9th a few days ago at like 9 p.m. and the food was still so delicious I got the chorizo and eggs plate it's my favorite because I love breakfast, she got the mojarra frita (fried tilapia). At most places that dish cost a lot of money but it was only $13 here like I said this is my hometown favorite restaurant of Mexican food authentic and if you haven't been here because you haven't known about it and you were born here or you're new here or newer just come by and let the food do the talking for you you won't be disappointed. And you can get breakfast all day!!🤗🤤🤤

The assortment of food on the menu is great from breakfast to dinner....but the wait staff is not....the lady was getting other customers orders but after that I was still waiting for her to come by and see if I needed anything else...( more tea, a to-go box, more chips..... ) NOTHING.

Good, authentic Mexican food for cheap. Unfortunately, my first experience included a pretty big chunk of bone in my chicken burrito, but everything else has been pleasant. Be sure to try the horchata if you can!

I'm always a fan of this place. My wife and I come to Austin a couple times a year and we usually grab brunch here. I've had a couple of the tortas, the migas, the chilaquiles, tacos, and quesadillas. I like that they serve beer and the salsa is delicious! They're usually busy and the service is great.

Been going to this place for over 10 years. Always loved their breakfast. The waitresses have all remained there for some time and are always friendly. I've begun taking my wife and kids there for the food. I recommend this place 100%

Excellent fajitas, both chicken and beef. The fresh avocado dip is the best in town. Also their green sauce is the best in town. I would recommend a small chain restaurant to all Mexican food lovers. They won't let you down. Really great lunch special prices.

Forgot to take picture of burrito before eating so this is 3/4 of the way through. Portions are HUGE. Salsa is made with fresh ingredients and very tasty. Only knock is the chips were a little stale.

Small hole in the wall but great food and give you a good amount!! ***I'm here to update my review. We ordered from this location again for my daughter's birthday, she wanted menudo. I don't know if it depends on who's working or what but you should have never let something like that come out of your kitchen! If you didn't have it ready, just say it's not ready. You did not even take the time to remove the bones, the meat was real fatty and full of grilse. She did not eat it. And honestly, we probably will not be back due to this. First visit was great, last one not so great. That's why I bumped my food review down in this review. Please take better care next time.

Aranda's in general has gotten better. No more "2001 - $1.50 breakfast tacos" but its much cleaner and I didn't feel unwelcome anymore. Glad they stepped it up. This location is very decent.

Pretty great little mexican restaurant in South Austin. Tried a dishes while visiting and their tacos al pastor were top tier! Their tex-mex plate was also pretty delicious as well. Prices weren’t too expensive for the amount of food you were getting. Both waitresses that worked tonight were very friendly and helpful!

Food was delicious the people welcoming and nice I like the decoration it’s very traditional I live the table and chairs also the menus are with pictures it’s very good for people how new to this kind of food to know how it looks like the only think I really would love them to pay attention is to the detail in the please some walls need to be patched and paint some of the ceiling need to be fix and the light keep on and off feels uncomfortable.. if they work on those details will make the guest experience way better

R

I ordered the mini tacos with legua - not sure if I would order that again. Coming from south Texas I think the bar is set pretty high for me when it comes to Mexican food. This place was oddly more expensive than I thought it would be. Overall the food was good, and the service was great.

M
Manuel Flores

Food was good not what was expected could have been better. Friend I ate with did not like the service. We did not get any chips and salsa when we arrived. Customers after us did. Maybe should have posted 2 and a 1/2 stars.

L
Lexi H

The tacos here are pretty good, but if you’re ordering to-go, make sure to check if they’ve included salsa. I ordered four tacos and didn’t get any salsa, which was disappointing since now I have dry tacos. One thing I’ve noticed since moving from Houston to Austin is that Austin spots tend to be stingy with salsa—you always have to double-check. Even if you order a bunch of tacos, they’ll often only give you one or two tiny sauce containers. Just a heads-up for anyone ordering tacos out here!

A
Andi Windham

The service was fast and the prices were good. The food was decent, not great but not bad. I was surprised that even though my food was served quickly, it was lukewarm when it arrived.

Back when I was younger I would come here and really enjoy it. This was my first time back in over 11 years. I came in and was the first table to be seated but somehow the last to be served. The younger waitress was nice. Not sure how we were the only people in there and the first to order but the last to get our food. Two other tables came in after us and got served right away. I won't be coming back but it was nice checking out for remembering some nice childhood memories eating here.

J

If you don't speak Spanish, you're gonna have a bad time. Both times I've been there, nobody in the building speaks English, causing you to just point at things on the menu and hope you get what you wanted. It makes you feel pretty isolated. Also, you don't get a subtotal bill before paying. That being said, the food was good.

Y
Yannet Campos

The food needs more work, Last time I was here I ordered a caldo de Camarones and the veggies were raw and it looks like they just heat up the water and added seasoning. Would not recommend.

Cold food!! Took my wife to have breakfast. Her plate came out first cold.. my plate arrived almost 10 minutes later. This place used to be great.. Not sure I'll return again. Very disappointed!!

J

The service was not good. Our food took about 30 min to come out and was at room temperature at that time. The workers were nice but would talk instead to pay attention to the costumers. I loved their horchata though.

M
MJ Jepsen

I used to love this place. The last couple of times I've gone, I've been really disappointed. I don't know if they got a new cook or what, but it's not the same. It seems like they don't put the love into making the food anymore? I got the Caldo de res and it wasn't good at all. We got some picadillo tacos and it was the worst picadillo I've ever tasted. We had the guacamole and it had no flavor at all and it tasted like old avocado. I under stand that the prices needed to be raised but why did the quality of the food have to be lowered? I'm sad because this used to be one of my go to restaurants when I'm in South Austin:(

V
Vanessa Rodriguez

I got a breakfast plate and my main dish, sides and my tortillas were all cold. The ham that was used in the eggs were just cold cuts mixed with egg that looked like it possibly was cooked some time ago. The price was not that much which I was happy because I would have been upset if I had to pay a lot for a cold meal. The customer service was good. Im glad that i didn't have to just speak spanish because its awful when someone assumes. I have eaten once hear before and had a bad experience getting breakfast tacos I thought I would give it another go but this time was no different. I don't see what the hype is about this place but I sadly wouldn't recommended to people.

The restuarant itself is nice. Parking is very difficult if it is busy. We had to park across the street at a strip mall. Worried the whole time about possibly getting towed. It is seat yourself. Waitstaff was nice, but a bit slow. We both got a beef fajita plate. Mine with veggies, hers with a spicy salsa. The refried beans were cold. Rice was warm with little flavor. I'll pass on returning.

Dined here on slow Sunday afternoon. Requested the burrito Guadalajara plate, which is burrito beans salad etc, standard plate. Asked about choice of meat, and waitress turned menu over and silently pointed out choices. Unfriendly, fine. I get my food. It’s a single dry burrito on a plate with no sides, nothing. Is this a joke? I ate it anyway. The waitress disappeared and never checked on me, so didn’t correct it. I closed up front and the sullen hostess asked which burrito I ordered, since the disappearing waitress didn’t leave a receipt. The only good thing about this place was the burrito was $10. The service here is terrible; the staff inattentive and rude. I won’t be back.

The breaded shrimp is actually coconut shrimp. So odd. Usually sold with tortillas and salsa but this time I got bread & valentina like sauce. Overall, not a good experience. This order was made via doordash.

I just bought 6 dozen tamales for new years @ 10.50 a dozen. We couldnt wait to tear into them. I truly wish we had, they were horrible. Bought 5 dozen pork, and 1 dozen chicken. I dont know how they got away selling these as tamales. They were big and fat, just tons of masa no meat, used alot of salt for flavoring the masa. Just biting into a big salty ball of dough. Shame! We've bought from them last year, and they were good. Dont waste your money. HEB'S are way better.

I was sooo embarrassed that I told my husband that the food here was gonna be awesome (because of all the great reviews)! First the ice in our cups came from an ice chest in the front in which they pick the ice out with their bare hands! Then they give you your over-priced CAN of soda to pour in the cup yourself. The staff does not speak hardly any English at all so if you need to ask questions make them very short word easy ones. THE FOOD is what was so embarrassing (my husband is from Mexico ) ...he ordered menudo and they were out of the corn for the soup (hominy). At 11:45 a.m. ...OUT. He said its ok and opted to wait for the soup and I ordered Migas. When he got his soup the cilantro and onion mix was just cilantro STEMS ..barely any leafs of cilantro...the Migas plate had so much cheap cheddar cheese melted on top that when I used my fork to pick up eggs it was all ONE glued together piece. The potatoes that they gave me were 5 little square potato chunks...and they provided us with 3 tortillas for my Migas plate and HIS bowl of soup. When I asked the only lady that seemed to understand English( kind of)...why only cilantro stems for my husbands soup ...she said "those have good flavor too". ...it was quite embarrassing that I brought my husband here and we left still hungry. DON'T WASTE YOUR MONEY!!

If I could give zero I would. But just for today. We come here for the nachos, the nacho first came out with just beans, then they took them back and just threw queso on them. I told them they always have melted cheese with sour cream, quac and jalepeno in middle. They took them back again and threw some shredded cheese on top of the same nachos (unmelted) with quac and sour cream and brought it out. I shook my head and showed them the picture of the nachos in the menu. They took them back a 3rd time and brought them out looking like the picture but the same ones. They also didnt bring out 2 other plates correctly. Still charged us. $27 down the drain. Was really upset that they didn't try to make it right.

Picked to go up today. I live blocks away. I get home my dinner plate had no rice or beans. The beef on my tacos is hard as boot leather. Can barely chew the meat. Very dissapointed.

K

I wish I could give this a good review. Queso was curdled. Everything has extra spice on it. My two-year-old son wasn't even able to eat any of his Chicken quesadilla (again spicy). Tried ordering a Coke Zero which translates almost identically but quickly turned into a game of show and tell. Having to point at everything was a little extreme because of the language barrier. The Waitresses were sweet though. And the menudo was good. I've had better street tacos from a vendor cart unfortunately. Won't be visiting again

L

This lady and my “server “ were very rude never check up on the table served me a “Mexican coke” that was flat I told her when she approached the table with food all she did was look and leave when it was time for me to pay I go to the front she charges the soda I told her no ma’am you came to my table when my brother told you it wasn’t good she said okay I said do you want me to grab it she said you drank it yes I grabbed it and placed it were they can see it still full so then I pay for what I ate she is still being rude called me out my name she wouldn’t give me her name at all

J

The customer service was great but my to go order was wrong. I ordered for three and one of the people I ordered for doesn't eat beef due to their religion. I informed them of this when I went in to place my order. They decided on the cheese enchiladas which come three per plate. The middle enchilada had meat in it. I was surprised because on how they messed up the order and why they added meat to only the middle one, my friend ended spitting out her food because it was random that only the middle one had meat.

My boyfriend grew up eating here and we decided to order pick up as he hasn't been in half a year. I was looking forward to a delicious meal but my tostada was cold as if it had been sitting in a fridge and the tostada shell was soggy and falling apart. Extremely disappointed at my first time eating here, ended up having to throw the tostada and flavorless rice it came with away. There's wonderfully delicious and authentic Mexican food in this city. Unfortunately none was found here.

Soooooo, I had been coming here since I first moved here 20 years ago. This was the place I brought my family and friends for really good Austin Mexican food. It used to be the place I came for delicious breakfast, lunch, dinner. No more. While I understand things change, the food has changed for the bad. Queso is canned cheese like the stuff you get at baseball games. We tried the fajitas for two since the menu has now changed, they added fried burnt bacon as a filler. The wait staff had a few of the original ladies, but when it came time for refills, they were nowhere to be found. Not sure if the original owners have sold to someone else or they thought about upgrading, but if this their idea of an upgrade, you failed. I really wish I could give a great review, this was one of my go to places, one of my favorite places to sit and eat excellent food and relax. But that's not the case anymore. Even my husband who had been bringing his bosses from out of state said he would need to find another place, it had gone downhill according to one of the men who looked forward to eating here when he came to Texas. And yes, this was a place I came to on a regular basis, so I know what they served, this is not it. This is a poor idea of the original.

Called in an order for pick up of breakfast tacos. From all the positive reviews I figure we could give this place a shot. Once I get there the first thing I see as I walk through the door is a lady spooning pepper into pepper jars from a 32 oz Styrofoam cup. Sitting right next her is another lady scooping green salsa from a large container into tiny 1 ounce cups. I should note that the container had crust all around it. I am greeted by the guy behind the counter who asks if I'm here to pick up, I say yes and tell him it was the 4 taco order. He looks confused, so I proceed to rattle off my order, oh, he says, we didn't get the last two. So I wait. He brings out a bag and tells me they are all in there. I decline his offering of salsa, and leave as I am in a hurry to get to work. I open the bag to find the tacos, I ordered bacon egg and cheese, the tacos I received were egg cheese and a sliver of bacon. One half slice of bacon. To top it off the tortilla was hard around the edges like it had been microwaved. My wife order potato egg bacon and cheese. She got potato and egg tacos. I would have been satisfied if they had just got our order right and didn't microwave the tortillas...

Worst tacos ever! Bland a$$ rubber tortillas filled with burnt chorizo and under cooked egg. The nastiest carne guisada to ever touch my mouth. Just gross.

Been eating at this location since they moved here. I've the great and bad but tonight's the last straw. Stopped by after a long work 9:25pm, sat in a booth patiently, watch a party of 6(they came in 8-10min after me)get seated and get served drinks. I was finally advised that my order would have to be Togo. I explained that I was there before them but wouldn't let me order dine-in. Will reach out to the owners but never eating there again.

This place is terrible…I’ll never eat here again I ordered a chicharron and egg taco and they literally put 2 small pieces of chicharron and what looked like half an egg in the taco before opening my rolled up foil I thought maybe they made a mistake and only gave me a foil pack of tortillas becuase it was so thin and when I brought my tacos back they told me that it was their standard and nothing was wrong…don’t waste your money on this establishment they make mediocre food and expect folks to be ok with it.

Door dashed so I can’t comment on the restaurant, but the food isn’t worth the money. Pretty bland stuff. My burrito was chicken, a tortilla, and some fake queso. That was it. My wife’s guacamole was unseasoned chunks of avocado, some tomato and onion. Save yourself the trouble. I’m not convinced they’re even trying to make good food here.

I got a barbacoa burrito and a chips and queso the Queso was running not thick at all then the burrito was flavorless other thing helping was the green salsa won’t be coming back

They burned the food, oversalted the salsa, skipped the avocado on both dishes, and rewarded themselves with a 30% tip. Sent the food back and they remade it with half the ingredients and burned it again. We've been customers for 25 years. The place has always been a dive, but up until today the staff has always been honest and the food was always good.
