Happy Hour here is amazing! $7 Bites and $7 Sips with all options being DELICIOUS. Emily was our server and was super enthusiastic about all the food options we had ordered. She really was so sweet and helpful the whole night. We tried just about most of the happy hour bites menu and everything was so good some items were ordered twice. Their margaritas were delicious even as someone who typically doesn’t enjoy them. I personally had the Cherry Limeade cocktail and it came in the cutest Mason Jar glass. Overall this place is a new favorite for my household and we WILL be coming back to try the Seafood Boil! Thank you Emily for taking care of us!
Finally! A great seafood restaurant in Austin! Spot on seafood boil. Best Texas shrimp I’ve ever had!! Excellent iced tea! I would get drunk here if they served red ale on tap. Excellent service and atmosphere!! Will be back soon!
i very much enjoyed my first experience here. Emily was fantastic and gave us a clear understanding of the menu. she had wonderful and warm energy and took great care of my table. everyone on staff was friendly and helpful and the food was delicious!
I love TLC Austin. From the Texas Coffee Traders cold brew to the always-amazing DKR, everything hits. The space is open and welcoming, with good music always playing, which makes it an easy place to hang out. The last time I went, I had one of the strongest cold brews I’ve had anywhere in Austin, the bacon-wrapped shrimp made with Nueske’s bacon, and the Texan. The bacon-wrapped shrimp are out of this world. The Texan is a great burger and unlike anything I’ve had before. Beans and Fritos on a burger wouldn’t normally be my first choice, but somehow it absolutely works. They have a solid beer and wine selection, but I was especially into the draft cocktails — plenty of good options there. If you’re in the area, definitely give this place a try.
I can’t recommend TLC enough! Every time my dad is in town, we make it a point to visit because their dollar oysters by the dozen are unbeatable. The ambiance is always fun, funky, and festive, especially during the holiday season, making the experience even more enjoyable. In addition to the oysters, we absolutely love the appetizers, especially the bacon-wrapped shrimp and the hush puppies. The rotating drink specials are always a treat; today, I enjoyed a White Christmas Margarita that was delicious. A special shoutout to our server, Angel, who was incredibly attentive, sweet, and patient with my dad throughout our meal. And as an extra magical experience, during our last visit, I found four pearls in one of my oysters! That made our Christmas Eve truly unforgettable. If you love oysters and seafood boils, TLC is the place to go year-round!
The food was amazing. I got the $1 oysters and the Texan burger. The server, was friendly and was attentive to my needs. The atmosphere was different as it had the overhead garage doors that gave it a warehouse feel to it. I really enjoyed it here and I can see myself coming back with friends and family. Highly recommend.
High quality seafood spot in Austin! We got a lobster roll and King Crab Boil. The quality of the seafood was excellent, it’s not your traditional greasy boil. Instead a much more flavorful experience that really focuses on the seafood itself. The restaurant itself was very modern and extremely clean. Tucked in a really amazing spot off of South Lamar that had free parking right nearby. Would recommend for a date night, getting a group together, or if you need a really good seafood meal in Austin.
Deereelicious. Our server was Lily She was wonderful, the food was wonderful....it's so nice You stay that when faced with so many options you choose a winner. I/we will be back. What did they eat you ask? I had a boil with King and snow crab. It was done with the citrus brine. I enjoyed it with regular drawn butter and also the lemon butter. The accompanying veggies (corn, potatoes and a garlic head) were cooked and seasoned delictably. As it was a birthday meal. I finished it off with a complimentary key lime pie which was perfect as it was a very light addition to a very full stomach! Sadly I now live out of town but I look forward to my next meal here at TLC which BTW is a privately owned restaurant. Buen provecho!!
Our server Lily was excellent, very knowledgeable and accommodating. Jeff ( the owner ) came by the table and was so personable, really made us feel welcome. Bria, the manager came by our table as well, extremely sweet and even cracked our lobster for us. The food was amazing and the service even better, if you’re in Austin this is the place to go!
Birthday Bash Done Right: Seafood, Vibes, and Great Company! 🦞🎉 I celebrated my birthday at TLC and honestly, it was the great choice. The atmosphere was exactly what I was hoping for—laid-back and stylish with just the right amount of energy. Juliet and Megan were friendly and attentive. If you're looking for a spot where you can dig into good seafood, laugh with friends, and enjoy a laid-back celebration, this is it. Highly recommend for birthdays or any excuse to treat yourself. Try the Keylime dessert!
Being able to take my wife to dinner and not worry about gluten on the menu because she has celiac is life changing. The fried calamari being GF was hands down the best. The calamari was so fresh and delicious I could have eaten 3 orders. We loved the gulf oysters they were so large and fresh a real treat to enjoy.
October 2024 TLC Austin was a great place to get away and enjoy a casual atmosphere of watching sports dining on good food. I had a birthday reward and used it by ordering the 14 oz double Bone-In Pork Chop and Brick Chicken. We enjoyed it very much where the pork chop was huge and extremely tasty with great flavor. It came with Garlic Mashed Potatoes, Nueske's Slab Bacon Green Beans, and Apple Chutney as sides. The sides were very good. The chicken was super favorable and tasty, and had that lemon pepper flavor. It was also served with Cilantro-lime Rice and Green Beans. We ate half of it and took the rest home for lunch the next day. As for TLC Austin this place is dog friendly, nice staff, entertaining, and besides Texas Favorites they also have menu options like the Boil where last time had crawfish. Parking is available here in the Lamar Union garage.
I recently had the pleasure of dining at TLC in Austin, Texas, and I cannot recommend it enough! We indulged in the entire "Big Tex Tailgate" menu, and every bite was phenomenal. The standout dishes for me were the DKR and the Burger—both packed with flavor and cooked to perfection. But the real showstopper was the 40 Acre Special—a massive platter overflowing with crab, shrimp, potatoes, sausage, and corn. It's designed to feed 8 people, and it truly delivers. The seafood was fresh, the seasoning was spot on, and it was an experience in itself. Totally worth every penny! If you're looking for great food, excellent service, and a fun atmosphere in Austin, TLC should be at the top of your list. I will definitely be coming back and highly recommend it to anyone craving a Texas-sized meal!
Stopped in for happy hour. The oysters are a popular hit here. They have a great spicy shrimp on the happy hour menu also that’s pretty good. We ordered the fries also they were decent. I really wanted to try the deviled eggs they had but maybe another day. Atmosphere was good. Nice and cool inside. Misters were going on outside as it was in the mid to high 90’s. Service was good. Not overly attentive. Lots of space and huge tv’s to watch! Definitely check it out if you enjoy seafood!
Hopped in here after an Orangetheory class and felt super welcomed from the moment we stepped in. We always ask to see a menu first due to me being gluten free. The operations manager, Jeff assured me that we walked into the right place. Everything on the menu besides a few select items were gluten free or could be made gluten free. He asked us things about us and welcomed us to Austin,TX. We tried the hush puppies, bacon flight, skillet hash, and the boil. We were pleasantly surprised by the portions and service. John was our server and also did an excellent job taking great care of us! We did not order drinks but saw all the drinks headed to tables via brunch service and they were also a good bang for the buck!
This restaurant is a solid choice! The vibe is great, making for a fun dining atmosphere. The food is equally fantastic—we had the fresh fish and oysters, and they were superb! The quality for the price is an excellent value. The only thing holding it back was the service. Our waiter was polite but seemed impatient and not very willing to help. Highly recommend for the atmosphere, quality, and price!
We stopped in Austin for the last day of our Texas trip and passed by this restaurant to have lunch. I appreciate a pink haired waitress lady at this restaurant! So friendly and provided us with great service! Thank you so much! TLC restaurant were a lot of food choices and I thought it was overall pretty good, but it was a bit too salty and I would truly recommend less salt! I ordered the BKR sandwich, which I don't really recommend, no veggies and the meat was very salty. I also ordered the Texas chills soup which was also very salty. The pudding bread is pretty but was too sweet and I think it could have been done better, but if I come back to Austin next time, I'll be back!
The charbroiled oysters were very good. Those lemon garlic mussels were the BEST. The atomic shrimp caught me off guard, but if you like horseradish, you'll LOOOOVE that. I really liked the seafood tower. However, the redfish and shrimp ceviche was a little too salty for me. It wasn't that busy, but our waitress couldn't seem to check on us much. It was so hard to get her attention. Hopefully, she gets better at that.
We were a bit disappointed with the food here. The atomic shrimp cocktail is a complete disaster; way overboard on the horseradish. Our fries were way too salty. The hush puppies lacked flavor and tasted like they were fried in old oil. The brisket sandwhich had a good marriage of flavors but again a bit on the salty side. Charbroiled oysters were ok; crackers, hot sauce, lemon was not offered with the oysters.
My friend and I have eaten there several times, we were craving fresh gulf oysters and had been talking about getting Alaskan King crab legs. In the past we have been happy with big plump gulf oysters each having at least a dozen..this time they were tiny and several looked too beat up to eat and when my friend ordered the Crab boil, on menu it said $50.00, which is a lot but it was a treat for us. The lady taking our order said it is now $80.00, even though the menu said $50,00, which put my friend on the spot. NOT WANTING TO DISAPOINT ME HE ORDERED THEM , WHICH EQUALED ONE LEG. For $80.00. You folks probably have seen the last of us. P.S. the menu price on your web-site still had $50,00 for the King Crab LEG!
If I had to just discuss the food, the review would be good. If I had to discuss the alcoholic beverages it would be so-so, but as a retired Sailor there is a different perspective. If I had to just discuss service I would never come back. “Perspective is reality” and I felt the responses to common legitimate menu questions should not be met with perceived sarcasm and flippant responses. Then as I politely sit not wanting to dim the experience of my group of 8 friends and family, I could only think this is “NOT the place for me!” Server was Garrett G. Table was #106
