Zachary‘s pizza is a long-standing Berkeley tradition, and I’ve been coming here for more than 20 years. This location is a bit smaller than the one on College Avenue and a little less crowded. Usually during the day it is wide open. At lunchtime, they sell slices of thin crust pizza, which is good, but they do not have individually sized deep dish pizzas like some places do. They’re deep dish. Pizza is excellent. In particular, the sauce is great. I wish they had the same crust as Little Star does, which is down Solano at the bottom, but their crust is still good. Zachary sausage is just as good as the sausage in pizza places in Chicago. A lot of people use inferior sausage, but theirs is great.

Great Chicago style deep dish pizza! The salads are also very generous in size. The meatballs in marinara sauce are also very delicious. Expensive, but worth it. Fast and friendly service

There is a 30min wait time for deep dish pizzas but that is told to you as you walk in the door so was not a hassle at all. We had the Zachary special and it came out piping hot with plenty of sauce cheese and filling. The 30min wait was very accurate. We got a salad on the side which was quite a large portion. Service was great aswell, they served the first slice for us which was cool.

This is THE BEST Stuffed Pizza I have ever had! It was so delicious. The crust was perfectly crispy and the cheese pull was FANTASTIC! The wait time for a stuffed is about 40 minutes but OMG is it worth it! We ordered the pepperoni stuffed and it was AMAZING! My taste bud's were dancing a with delight as I bit into the slice. All I could say was MMMMMMMMM! It was a beautifully delicious and messy experience I look forward to having again very soon.

Tasty cheesy Chicago pizza. Deep dish my favorite first time trying the salad it was nice and perfect size. The kids enjoyed both the thin crust and stuffed pizzas. My picky child who doesn't like spinach or mushrooms ate more than half veggie the pizza. Already asking when we're going back.

Amazing pizza here! My wife grew up eating here, and loves it. No other deep dish pizzas stacked up to Zachary’s. I am not normally a deep dish pizza person, but this was delicious. Not greasy or heavy. Great, tasty and fresh sauce. Fresh ingredients. The pizza is made to order; which is awesome! Expect about 20-25 min for thin crust, and 25-35 for deep dish…but def worth the wait! They have about 5 outdoor tables. Kid and dog friendly! Great vibe inside as well! We got a spinach salad, and it was lovely too. We will be back as much as we can!

The ambience is fun. The servers were all very pleasant and prompt. The pizza was amazing. Only reason for 4 out of 5 stars is the manager was a bit strange. While we were eating, he came and took one of the chairs from our table. Then put it at the table next to us. Then he took a chair from that table and brought it to another table. Later he inaudibly asked me if I wanted more water while standing out of field of vision. I had to turn all the way around and ask him what he said. When I said yes, he walked away and started arranging another table, then told our server to bring me more water. I didn't really care about the water that much. So, I just got a super awkward vibe from him. Why ask for our extra chair when you don't even need it? Why sneak up on my flank and ask me questions without getting my attention first. The servers were prompt and polite though.

Carne pizza is highly recommended! Zachery’s special was ok. We ordered thin pizza and Happened to add anchovies, whole pizza became so so salty that we could barely eat. So be careful with toppings. But we finished the entire carne, it was so so good.

Zachary's favorite chicken special staffed pizza, small size was somewhat delicious. I ordered it to go and waited at least 30 min the order to be ready to pick up. After tasting it, I was not overly impressed. It is better than average, nevertheless. However, when i looked at the price, it looks like it is too high. Unless i dine inside the restaurant, the price would probably be just right, because i would get an additional benefit which is the experience to be in a nicely decorated area with many people enjoying their meal. I would just recommend to try it just one time so that you can see the difference between this stuffed pizza and a regular thin pizza we all like to eat.

The deep dish pizza is different and enjoyable for a change, but not a huge fan of the heavy topping of tomato sauce that overwhelmed all the other flavors. It's tasty fresh sauce, but it's all you really taste. The other items like salad are not very good. Four stars for the pizza, two for everything else. Venue is ok. Old time storefront vibe. Not great, but ok if you sit outside or near the window. Service was decent and friendly.

First time at zachary pizza I came to bay area from san diego to Drop my son at berkeley looking at places to eat we look at zacharys the pictures look good from previous customers on yelp but wasnt that great Ill give it a 3 star flavor needs improvement and too expensive for a pizza 14" at almost 40dllrs is little too much, customer service was great I think if they add more cheese and price gets lowered they will sell more.

Chicago style pizza with variety of pizzas. Mostly famous for deep dish or thick crusts. Veggie options available. Thin crusts also available. They service alcohol too. To me food is very salty and meats were dry and not fresh. Service was responsive and quick with very casual local atmosphere. They accept reservation for limited indoor seating. Walk in OK. Ramp entry with wide routes inside. Accessible. Good for kids, meetup and small group. Street parking and close by Safeway parking lot available.

I’m quite disappointed to rate this spot so low due to the amount of people I knew that claimed this restaurant was good. When I first walked in it was a great atmosphere, the place looked very welcoming. We took our seats and the waiter who had helped me and my girlfriend was very nice and respectful. Regardless having to wait over an hour for pizza is quite disappointing. I gave the benefit of the doubt that it was probably because I had ordered a specialty item, But even then not a single employee checked in on us to tell us how long the wait would be. He had quoted us 20 minutes at first but then never checked in again besides to give my girlfriend a refill. During our hour wait the chefs were inside laughing and looking straight at us as if there was something we had against them. After we had gotten our food and begin eating the food felt cold on the outside as if it was sitting for a while. It wasn’t until after we had gotten our food when they started checking in. It sucks that I have to make this revue because I quite enjoyed the atmosphere. I’m not too sure if the owner was there but if he was then he really needs to train his empoyees better as customer service says a lot about an establishment and this place does it very poorly. I will no longer return here. I guess it’s true not to judge a book by its cover, cause this place is beyond one of the worst pizza spots I have encountered in over a year.
