Food was great, service was good, star of the show was the coconut cream cake (made in house! and phenomenal). I was very delightfully surprised by this place which we decided to try on a whim. It is a touch on the casual side, but meant to be rustic and charming. It is a bit small but they don’t cram you in. The food is great and not just any casual fare. The lamb chops were cooked to perfection; the shrimp cocktail super fresh. Our server Alex was very personable and attentive to us.

Fantastic food, perfectly prepared. Great staff, amazing atmosphere. It can be warm and intimate or exciting and fun - depending on where you sit and if you come when there's some great live music. The drinks are always good and the food is even better.

We've been here numerous times with family and on date nights. Service and food are always very good and enjoyable. A consistent and positive experience. Not insanely fancy, but perfect for an above average date night or family dinner.

My partner and I chose Bloomfield steak and seafood house for dinner. We called to make a reservation for 7. As soon as we walked in through the doors you can smell the most delicious foods. The restaurant was full of guests but we were seated very quickly! We were welcomed by our server named Alexander who was very kind, attentive and efficient. A 2nd man came over with water, bread, and butter although I didn’t get his name - he came by a bunch of times to make sure we were satisfied. We ordered a red sangria and a local IPA which were both great. We then ordered the calamari, 2 ribeye steaks cooked medium well, mashed potatoes, Mac and cheese, broccoli and French fries. The calamari came out quickly and was fantastic! A 3rd man who I also didn’t get the name of came over and packed up our leftover calamari under 2 minutes. What we appreciated the most was the main course didn’t come out right away. We had time to enjoy our time together there. We read the history of the building, took in the cozy / intimate feel, admired the twinkle lights, & admire the bubble tents in the back space. Nothing about the experience was rushed. We have family coming to visit during the holidays and we have already said we’d have to bring them here ! Then the rest of the food came out and when I tell you this was the best steak I’ve ever had would be an understatement. Cooked to perfection made with love. They took their time with this and it showed ! From the presentation to the cut down the meat, everything exceeded expectations! Mouth watering, juicy, tender, flavorful. Not even a noodle in the Mac and cheese was missed. The attention to detail was really remarkable from the front of the house to the back of the house. Thank you all so much for a truly wonderful evening! We’re already looking forward to coming back ! ♥️

The food was very delicious cooked to my liking, there was live entertainment there which was very nice for the setting. We sat outside. It was a beautiful evening, I would have liked to seen the staff a little bit more tentative I would give the service of the waiter a seven out of 10 but other than that, it was very nice. I would definitely go back. The food was delicious.

No words can describe the food the service, the atmosphere. Everything was top notch, from the moment you walk in up until you walk out. Ask i can say is that the food I order was AMAZING! the fried calamari was seasoned perfectly, the honey Brussel sprouts - OMG 😲 mouth watering and more. The crab stuff flounder was stupendous. I had bites from my friend plates, and nothing disappointed. The ultimate winner for me was the shrimp in Thai chilli sauce...good gracious God that should be illegal. I will definitely be coming back very soon.

Had an amazing dinner at Bloomfield Steakhouse tonight! Frank the bartender was excellent—friendly and quick with the drinks. The food was a 10/10: clams, filet mignon on toast, stuffed baked potato, and the famous coconut cake. Everything was perfect. Wish I lived closer—I’d be here every day!

It's a charming restaurant with great service and delicious food. They never disappoint. Nicole's specials (both dishes and cocktails) always stand out. My family and I have dined here many times, and we still come back for more.

This is my first time, and definitely won't be my last time! I am so grateful to find this hidden gem between the service and the food is top tier. This may be a regular spot for some civilians but to me it's top spot in the state of nj, I asked about there happy hour and they have one and my next visit will be the happy hour!!!

When one walks in the door of a lavish steakhouse, it’s that delicious aroma of a fine selection of perfectly cut steaks, chops, and the soulful ambiance is always so romantic and warm. Housed in one of the oldest buildings of the Pre-Revolutionary War in Essex County, and with the basement once a stop on the Underground Railroad, this family-owned and operated establishment has been serving the Bloomfield area for over 20 years, and it's where we decided on dinner tonight. The reservation was easily made by calling Bloomfield Steak & Seafood located on Franklin Street. Upon arrival as first-timers, my partner, our friends, and I were greeted by the host and shown to a table in the cozy dining area in the back with a maritime decor vibe. They have outdoor seating in warmer weather with a live band and cozy fireplaces in the cooler months. Whether one’s a meat lover, seafood enthusiast, or vegetarian, their diverse menu offers appetizers, soups, salads, pasta, burgers, and, of course, steak and seafood. As appetizers, we decided on a dozen Blue Point Oysters and Beef Empanadas. For our main meal, we opted for Pork Chop with Jersey Peach Sauce, Crispy Chicken Sandwich, Mac-N-Cheese, Steak Frites and accompanied by a side salad. Some of us even saved room for Key Lime Pie. Complimentary bread started our meal. Everything on the menu was made with such care, love, fresh ingredients, and tasteful deliciousness. Each cut was cooked to absolute perfection—juicy, flavorful, and tender in all the right ways. The staff makes one feel welcome and well taken care of; our server, Andrea, was very friendly, knowledgeable, and accommodating. Excellent price for the quality compared with other places. Excellent all around, which we can recommend.

Been here before many times, steaks are always delicious and so are the appetizers. Last night went in to pick up 2 Angus cheese burgers that I called ahead for. 1st time that I was not happy with the burgers. It was around 9pm so don't know if that had something to do with it. Anyway I won't let that discourage me from going back! Otherwise love this place! Very much appreciated! Just know that we will definitely spend that refund on a couple of delicious appetizers @BSH!

🚨 Gem alert 🚨 Let’s eat where history was made!! Where to begin, the place is pretty cool and there a lot going on! They offer a diverse menu, ranging from steaks and seafood to burgers and even a raw bar. Now, for starters, we ordered the calamari. It was good, but I found it a bit salty, even though it was still worth ordering. Okay, let’s talk about the entrées. We ordered the pan-fried filet mignon, which had an interesting flavor with the blue cheese and wine sauce. If you’re planning to order it, I recommend going for medium. The steak packs a flavor punch. Now, let’s move on to the cowboy ribeye. I ordered a medium, and it came out good. It paired well with the fried onions and mashed potatoes. I must say, the steaks are missing a bit of the Wild West flavor that I was expecting. But overall, they’re still good steaks. So the drinks , good beer selection, and definitely a good wine selection. I will say the cocktails sounded good but didn’t order any. We ordered a beer from Ghost Hawk, which was great. We also had a red wine called Horse Heaven, Merlot, which was fantastic. definitely will be ordering again. The churros we ordered for dessert were definitely very fulfilling, and the caramel dip was fantastic. The service was fantastic. Nicole was incredibly attentive and didn’t miss a beat. If in the area check it out !!

Great food in a quaint cabin style environment. The manager was extremely accommodating and made for a great business meal! We tried many of the specials and the Brussels were incredible. Swordfish should be a regular menu item!

Andres was kind and amazing server. 5 stars to him. The atmosphere was good too. Next time we want to sit outside and maybe go during happy hour. My husband had the bone in ribeye. He didn’t quite like the quality of the meat, he ordered a medium finish and it came medium well all over and medium in the middle. I had the seafood pasta. I didn’t quite like the shrimp that it came with. I cut up the lobster tail and ate it. It was way more delicious. it was super creamy and tasty. We just moved to the area and liked that this is an option to visit.

What was a joyous dinner occasion for a family member's graduation was tainted with an overpriced, lack luster meal. I'll start with the positives first. The atmosphere at this restaurant is nice and well put together. The bathroom is clean and spacious. The table settings are on par with any nice steakhouse or restaurant you have in mind, and the waiter, as well as the servers, are professional. What made this restaurant middling at best is that I traveled across three states (5+ hours driving) and paid top dollar only to receive a well done, barely warm filet mignon (when I asked for medium), as well as painstakingly slow service. Granted the waiter apologized for the mishandling of my order, but with the amount of time it took to get my initial order and then the corrected order the damage was done. The lobster bisque was forgettable and the other appetizers were mediocre, but the service... the service was just slow. For the pricing point of the meal, I would expect better attention to details and quality food. What really made it irritating is that a lady, possibly a chef or sous chef, came near our table to take pictures of a dish in hand near the window on 2-3 different occasions. This would be acceptable if my party had their appetizers, or even their main course. So, my party and I had to endure staff taking pics of food for social media while we wait, wishing that was our plate. It was torture. Needless to say, there won't be arepeat visit to this place. I recommend future patrons tread lightly

Three stars is for over all dropped two to be fair over employee interaction. I wanted to take a moment to share feedback regarding my party’s recent visit to your restaurant. My group of 16 joined you on 11/12/25 to celebrate a birthday dinner. Although we had a short wait to be seated, our waitress was helpful, kind, and very pleasant throughout the night even when it was clear she could have used an extra hand. We truly appreciated her professionalism and positive attitude. Unfortunately, the evening took an unpleasant turn as we were leaving. I had doubled back to use the restroom near the main entrance, where one of our party members had already been waiting but decided to leave. I knocked on the door to check if it was still occupied, and a male employee came out with his phone in hand and immediately said to me, “Don’t be stupid and knock on the door, go upstairs.” I was caught off guard and told him there was no need to be rude, as I had no way of knowing someone was inside. He then replied, “It was red on the knob, duh,” before walking away through the entrance. I remember thinking, why am I arguing with an employee? I went ahead and used the restroom, as I am currently pregnant and didn’t feel comfortable managing the stairs again. When I came out, I told my fiancé what had happened. He went in to speak with the employee, who responded with sarcasm saying I should’ve “read the sign” and even laughed at us and at the manager when asked to apologize. It was disappointing to learn that this entire exchange stemmed from the employee using the restroom to take a personal break, as the toilet was never flushed and the hand dryer never went off. While the two female managers were very kind, apologetic, and understanding, the situation had already escalated unnecessarily and ultimately ruined what was meant to be a joyful celebration with family. This experience was especially upsetting given my pregnancy and recent loss earlier this year due to stress. We had simply hoped to enjoy a peaceful night with loved ones. I share this not for sympathy but to emphasize how deeply an employee’s attitude can affect guests’ experience. I sincerely hope that this matter is addressed and that additional training or disciplinary action is considered for the staff member involved. Your management team’s efforts to de-escalate the situation were appreciated, and the food and service from our waitress were otherwise wonderful but the incident left a lasting negative impression. I hope to hear that appropriate steps will be taken to ensure this doesn’t happen to other guests. Not only is that considered a family bathroom, but I’m sure also the disabled bathroom given additional restroom is on a second floor. I couldn’t imagine anyone else having to deal with this with a child or disability.

Do not waste your energy and hard earned money at this restaurant. We’ve been looking forward to trying this place, but left extremely disappointed and will not be coming back. I read the response of the restaurant and I’m sorry I offended you with my honest review. It took a while to any employee to interact with us. Finally a young waitress, meek and coy, came over and took our drink and appetizer order. The service was extremely slow. What seemed like a fine dining restaurant was simply causal and lacked attention to detail. We ordered the Clams Casino to start. They were overpowered by bacon and lacked any other flavor. Only one piece had flavor and breadcrumbs on top. My partner, excited for me to finally try clams casino, said this was a horrible first experience. We don’t recommend ordering the Clams Casino if you decide to attempt Bloomfield Steakhouse. Our waitress was nowhere to be found; we had to remind her we needed to order. The salads came out during the appetizer and over crowded the table. The salad is overly bitter and croutons are quite stale- has to pass on the salad and it was a shame to waste all that food. We ordered the crab stuffed flounder and the 1/2 ribs/shrimp for our entrees and they were dry. The ribs did not fall off the bone and needed to be ripped with your teeth/cut off the bone. The founder was dry and hard to eat. The mashed potatoes did not have garlic flavor and the baked potato was the only decent thing. I’ve had better ribs at Chilis; it’s quite embarrassing coming from an expensive steakhouse. The fried shrimp seemed like it was frozen, which might’ve been why it was the only other semi-decent thing on the plate. Still, hard to chew. Everything is so expensive but there’s such a lack of attention to detail and to reiterate the service was disappointing. We noticed the table to the right of us get the attention of their server during their meal and the woman said her meat is over cooked and her partners fish is dry. The menu specifically states not to order things medium well and over nice it will affect the dish. After the Maitre D put the menu down to see if the lady wanted to order anything, the man was done with his food by the time anyone came back to see if she wanted to eat dinner tonight. They said no and left with 20% off and an empty stomach. We found it interesting that the restaurant wasn’t doing too hot for a Saturday night… a night where you’re expected to excel as it’s a weekend and most likely their busiest times. It was embarrassing for their business to experience for our first time here. The Maitre D stopped my partner on the way back from the restroom to ask about our disappointment that we mentioned to our server. We were confused why she couldn’t approach our table directly. We felt we weren’t taken seriously and it’s probably due to our younger age. It was unprofessional that she couldn’t come out to the table and address our issues. Then she had the valor to compare our issue to the table next to us. She suggested that we only admitted there was an issue because they did, but the poor job of the kitchen that night showed a reflection of their business. Sometimes, the customer is right. However, we were complaining out loud and between ourselves since we sat down and had no idea the table next to us was having issues as well. Simply an off night, we assume. My partner told her that “it’s okay, sometimes you have off nights”. The manager said “that’s weird, we don’t have off nights”. After that interaction as my partner was trying to relieve himself, we sat for another 10 minutes with an empty table before our waitress gave us our bill. Nobody brought up the interaction by the host stand to our table. The fact our issue was addressed that way showed us how serious they take dissatisfaction from their patrons and how low they value them. Not only was the service poor, the food was NOT good and we have no interest in coming here. We do not recommend dining here. Try Chili’s instead.
