We arrived without reservations and they were super busy. The host offered a heated bubble in the patio which we throughly enjoyed. Our waiter Jordan was friendly, courteous, responsive, and attentive. He checked on our table periodically and made sure we had a pleasant experience. The food was delicious, can’t wait to come back!
⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ Bloomfield Steakhouse is an absolute gem in North Jersey! I feel so lucky to live just around the corner from this incredible spot. Everything on the menu is made with such care and love — from the expertly crafted cocktails and sangria to the mouthwatering appetizers and the decadent desserts. The atmosphere is warm, cozy, patriotic and inviting, with great music and an energy that makes you want to stay for hours. One of my favorite things to do is grab a drink at the bar and work my way through all the appetizers - each one better than the last! Nicole and her team are always so welcoming and friendly. The service is top-notch every time! This place deserves nothing less than five stars. Highly recommend!
Food was great. Service, kinda slow. But overall great mood, vibe and the staff were very nice.
Prices have definitely climbed in recent years—but if you’re looking to treat yourself and splurge close to home, Bloomfield Steak & Seafood House is a solid choice. The surf and turf is outstanding, and the drink selection is equally impressive, with a wide range of wines, beers, and cocktails. The staff is genuinely friendly and attentive, adding to the overall experience. In the warmer months, you can enjoy lots of outdoor seating and even live music. Come hungry for great food and good vibes—just don’t forget your wallet!
I took my husband here for Father’s Day & let me tell you. I am blown away by the service, the ambiance & the taste of the food! All absolutely exceptional. In a widely caucasian neighborhood, me & my Hispanic husband were treated with the utmost care & hospitality. There was also an issue with the kitchen, they had not received me & 2 other orders from the high demand of guests/take out orders… so our entrees & last round of drinks were on them! ($100 taken off our bill!!) We most definitely did not expect that but the hour wait was totally worth it. They had a lot of rounds of bread & butter come to our table in the meantime & appetizers were served pretty quickly as well! Thanks for everything Bloomfield Steakhouse! #eatbeefGethooked ;)
Have been here a couple times since moving to the area and had been great each time. Large portions and great food
My gf wanted to go out and eat. We usually Google a spot and go. We picked this restaurant this time. It was awesome! The staff was great! The food! Omg the food. I was beyond satisfied and very full. The drinks were awesome. Maybe too awesome lol. We're going back! You should go the atmosphere is great. Just go! 😊💞
We had a family birthday party in the upstairs room last night. Everything from the service to the food and reasonable price was top notch. It was a buffet style dinner with 3 appetizers, 3 entrees, 2 sides, and dessert/coffee (we selected all of our choices about 3 weeks prior). Everyone at the party loved the food and the atmosphere was great. The 3 people taking care of us (1 lady and 2 gentlemen) were attentive to our needs and provided great service. I'm sorry I forgot their names, but please tell them what a great job they did with the Saturday night 2/22/25 party upstairs. Highly recommend the upstairs room if having a party.
My husband and I came for NYE with friends and we were blown away on how good the steak was! Perfectly cooked, seasoned incredibly, it was great. Large portions as well. We liked it so much we came back with a group of different friends and to no surprise, another fantastic meal! The staff is very friendly and welcoming as well which really is a big deal to us. My husband and I are both local business owners so things like that go a long way. 10/10 recommend.
Food is very good. It's a cozy atmosphere. Nice outside seating.
We have been here for dinner many times. Date night, family dinner, or hanging out with friends. We always enjoy ourselves. From specialty drinks to the angry shrimp or buffalo chicken dip. I tried the calamari on Saturday. It was very good. Seafood or steak, right through to the affogado and cappuccino - we know it is going to be a good evening. And I love their salads! Now that the weather is getting warmer, we look forward to live music on the patio. There's even a fire pit. Make a reservation!
This venue is a consistently good experience! The food is always delicious, the service is friendly and inviting! The Lobster Bisque is one of my favorite menu items! One of my greatest admirations is how during COVID, when people were able to gather again, Bloomfield Steak & Seafood adjusted to that time by investing in outdoor tents to ensure safety and afford its customers the pleasure of dining out safely! That sets them above and beyond, in my view! Much respect for BS&SH!
I was seated quickly on a Tuesday night, and received great service. My waitress was attentive, and accurate. There was another man ensuring that my table was clean and taking away any unwanted and unneeded items. I ordered a filet mignon medium, it was cooked perfectly. My lobster tail was fresh, and my brussels sprouts were delicious. I enjoyed a glass of Pinot noir with my meal. Such a cool, cozy environment. I observed all of the other employees being friendly & interacting with all of the other patrons as well. They seem like a nice, positive staff. I’d def return!!
Great experience! My fiancée and I came to celebrate my birthday. The service was great! It was a busy night and our waitress was on top of everything. The outdoor bubble seating was a neat experience. We got cocktails, wings, prime rib, and lamb chops (which included side salads, bread, and a side) Everything was delicious, and very generous portions for the price.
Just moved to the area and based on reviews decided to give Bloomfield Steakhouse a try today and it was outstanding!! The service was incredible and our bartender Andrea was wonderful and made our visit feel very special. The food was all very fresh and our steaks were cooked perfectly to our medium well requests. Took home two pieces of coconut cake and would go back tomorrow just for the cake!! Great spot.
My husband and I’s favorite restaurant. Food is great. I recommend the fried calamari. The service is excellent as well.
I had such a great experience at this restaurant! The atmosphere was warm and welcoming, and the staff were attentive without being overbearing. Definitely a place I’ll be coming back.
This place is my new addiction. The staff is awesome and friendly. The food is out of this world. As God as my witness, The best steak in the world comes from this restaurant and for me to take the time to write a review speaks volumes !! I recommend this place 100% !!!
Just a great all around restaurant for great food and relaxing atmosphere - family friendly - friendly and attentive staff - great food prices - reservations help but they will accommodate walk-ins - do not miss this place, we highly recommend it
We moved to Bloomfield 7 years ago and I've seen this steak house all the time but never tried it out..... I wish we had went sooner!! Not only was the service excellent, different waiters and waitresses checked up on us periodically as well as our own waitress while we dined. I had the rib eye no bone (excellent and evenly cooked) with fries and my wife had the filet mignon with cream spinach. We had the empanadas for an appetizer and they were delicious. And for dessert, the chocolate brownie sundae..... Delicious!! The prices are probably the lowest of any steakhouse we've been too in NY/NJ and we've been to quite a few. Definitely look forward to going back a bunch of times!!!
I took my husband to Bloomfield Steak and Seafood for his birthday. This was our first time. We each had rib eye steaks with garlic mash, salads, and shared hoisin Brussels sprouts. And yes, we did leave room for dessert! The food was excellent, our server Lily was very attentive and from the moment we walked in, a staff member was always there to make sure we were being attended to. It’s a nice historic building, a great place for any occasion. Looking forward to eating here again!
It was my first time at the steakhouse the service was on point the food was amazing and the drinks were delicious and strong. Definitely a nice place to have an intimate dinner date or a ladies night out... Definitely in my top five places to visit again
Went here for a late lunch yesterday and ordered the prime rib. It was an excellent cut that was perfectly cooked and extremely flavorful. It came with a salad and side and was extremely satisfying. The sweet potato fries were perfectly crisp and well seasoned. The staff were all extremely friendly and checked on us to make sure we had everything we need. Definitely will be coming here again.
Best meal I've had in a while! Ambience is warm and lively with attentive service. The restaurant has a very vacation-like feeling with a live band playing outside. Parking lot is very tight, but there is street parking, too. The ribeye and crab cakes were amazing. We will be back!
I want to thank the owner, Andrea, and her staff for an amazing dinner experience. She and her staff were very nice and attentive to our needs. Food was good from the appetizers to the main course. My husband had steak, yellow rice, and brussel sprouts . I had a rack of lamb and garlic mashed potatoes . The food was cooked to perfection. I would definitely recommend this place if you are in NJ.
This is my third time visiting this establishment, first time reviewing and leaving a message, and I just want to say that the food served here is delicious! The building itself has a unique vibe to it, the servers are knowledgeable of the menu, are considerate and do their best to service you. When you come here, be prepared for a little luxurious 3 course offering, that consist of a variety of appetizers, hearty entrees, and enticing sweets. There is a bar for anyone who just wants to chill lowkey, and a spacious dining room that can sit small and large parities alike. If you need to host an event, there is a second floor that you can request to inspect for possible celebrations. This is the place to go to if you want to try something a step above your usual franchise seafood or Steakhouse eateries. This place is special, it feels special . This is the kind of place you take loved ones to. Make it special. Anyway, I'll try to post a pic of what we ordered today.
I had a great experience here. The service, the food, everything was on point. My husband and I ordered the angry shrimp as an appetizer(delicious). For the entrees, he had Bayside seafood and pasta while I opted for the salmon. Pure perfection!!! We dined on the patio, which gave a nice, laid-back vibe. I would definitely recommend.
I love it here,Coop and Pac made it fun for me,so welcoming , wearing a smile, first people I saw/met when I entered then the lamb chops was exactly as I like it. Thanks to the cook in the kitchen. I will be coming again cos of Coop and Pac and probably taste other meal to see how it goes. Coop ,the margaritas is also good, wasn't expecting a good mix , guess I was wow by it. I will come again and try NY steak Do Try it and yeah! They have happy hour Fridays 3pm to 6pm. I am taking part of the lamb chops with me. A portion can be enough for two to three people. I forgot to snap before eating Pls bear with me and take this as it is. Do not forget to try the coconut cake/Chelsea cake
Amazing food and amazing service! Andrea is an owner and also served us! Make a reservation and go there hungry because you won’t be able to stop eating. Historic well preserved restaurant was such a pleasurable place to have a meal.
I ordered the Rib-Eye which was cooked to med rare perfection!! The whole meal from appetizers to the Brooklyn Lager was great. The service was impeccable and smooth. I had to change our reservations to a half hour later and had no problem adding one more person. When we arrived there were only two of us and the host did not mind. Been the other times and had never had a bad experience and the steaks have always been cooked to perfection!! Love this place, will always have me coming back! Thank you
Food was great, service was good, star of the show was the coconut cream cake (made in house! and phenomenal). I was very delightfully surprised by this place which we decided to try on a whim. It is a touch on the casual side, but meant to be rustic and charming. It is a bit small but they don’t cram you in. The food is great and not just any casual fare. The lamb chops were cooked to perfection; the shrimp cocktail super fresh. Our server Alex was very personable and attentive to us.
The food is amazing and so are the staff and servers. Everyone is very friendly and welcoming. Jordan was our server one time and he was very nice and made sure we had everything we needed! 10/10
Fantastic food, perfectly prepared. Great staff, amazing atmosphere. It can be warm and intimate or exciting and fun - depending on where you sit and if you come when there's some great live music. The drinks are always good and the food is even better.
We've been here numerous times with family and on date nights. Service and food are always very good and enjoyable. A consistent and positive experience. Not insanely fancy, but perfect for an above average date night or family dinner.
My partner and I chose Bloomfield steak and seafood house for dinner. We called to make a reservation for 7. As soon as we walked in through the doors you can smell the most delicious foods. The restaurant was full of guests but we were seated very quickly! We were welcomed by our server named Alexander who was very kind, attentive and efficient. A 2nd man came over with water, bread, and butter although I didn’t get his name - he came by a bunch of times to make sure we were satisfied. We ordered a red sangria and a local IPA which were both great. We then ordered the calamari, 2 ribeye steaks cooked medium well, mashed potatoes, Mac and cheese, broccoli and French fries. The calamari came out quickly and was fantastic! A 3rd man who I also didn’t get the name of came over and packed up our leftover calamari under 2 minutes. What we appreciated the most was the main course didn’t come out right away. We had time to enjoy our time together there. We read the history of the building, took in the cozy / intimate feel, admired the twinkle lights, & admire the bubble tents in the back space. Nothing about the experience was rushed. We have family coming to visit during the holidays and we have already said we’d have to bring them here ! Then the rest of the food came out and when I tell you this was the best steak I’ve ever had would be an understatement. Cooked to perfection made with love. They took their time with this and it showed ! From the presentation to the cut down the meat, everything exceeded expectations! Mouth watering, juicy, tender, flavorful. Not even a noodle in the Mac and cheese was missed. The attention to detail was really remarkable from the front of the house to the back of the house. Thank you all so much for a truly wonderful evening! We’re already looking forward to coming back ! ♥️
The food was very delicious cooked to my liking, there was live entertainment there which was very nice for the setting. We sat outside. It was a beautiful evening, I would have liked to seen the staff a little bit more tentative I would give the service of the waiter a seven out of 10 but other than that, it was very nice. I would definitely go back. The food was delicious.
No words can describe the food the service, the atmosphere. Everything was top notch, from the moment you walk in up until you walk out. Ask i can say is that the food I order was AMAZING! the fried calamari was seasoned perfectly, the honey Brussel sprouts - OMG 😲 mouth watering and more. The crab stuff flounder was stupendous. I had bites from my friend plates, and nothing disappointed. The ultimate winner for me was the shrimp in Thai chilli sauce...good gracious God that should be illegal. I will definitely be coming back very soon.
Had an amazing dinner at Bloomfield Steakhouse tonight! Frank the bartender was excellent—friendly and quick with the drinks. The food was a 10/10: clams, filet mignon on toast, stuffed baked potato, and the famous coconut cake. Everything was perfect. Wish I lived closer—I’d be here every day!
It's a charming restaurant with great service and delicious food. They never disappoint. Nicole's specials (both dishes and cocktails) always stand out. My family and I have dined here many times, and we still come back for more.
This is my first time, and definitely won't be my last time! I am so grateful to find this hidden gem between the service and the food is top tier. This may be a regular spot for some civilians but to me it's top spot in the state of nj, I asked about there happy hour and they have one and my next visit will be the happy hour!!!
When one walks in the door of a lavish steakhouse, it’s that delicious aroma of a fine selection of perfectly cut steaks, chops, and the soulful ambiance is always so romantic and warm. Housed in one of the oldest buildings of the Pre-Revolutionary War in Essex County, and with the basement once a stop on the Underground Railroad, this family-owned and operated establishment has been serving the Bloomfield area for over 20 years, and it's where we decided on dinner tonight. The reservation was easily made by calling Bloomfield Steak & Seafood located on Franklin Street. Upon arrival as first-timers, my partner, our friends, and I were greeted by the host and shown to a table in the cozy dining area in the back with a maritime decor vibe. They have outdoor seating in warmer weather with a live band and cozy fireplaces in the cooler months. Whether one’s a meat lover, seafood enthusiast, or vegetarian, their diverse menu offers appetizers, soups, salads, pasta, burgers, and, of course, steak and seafood. As appetizers, we decided on a dozen Blue Point Oysters and Beef Empanadas. For our main meal, we opted for Pork Chop with Jersey Peach Sauce, Crispy Chicken Sandwich, Mac-N-Cheese, Steak Frites and accompanied by a side salad. Some of us even saved room for Key Lime Pie. Complimentary bread started our meal. Everything on the menu was made with such care, love, fresh ingredients, and tasteful deliciousness. Each cut was cooked to absolute perfection—juicy, flavorful, and tender in all the right ways. The staff makes one feel welcome and well taken care of; our server, Andrea, was very friendly, knowledgeable, and accommodating. Excellent price for the quality compared with other places. Excellent all around, which we can recommend.
Our server was Andrea who was wonderful and spot on with suggestions! Crab cakes were good and more crab then filler. Scallops were cooked to perfection. The dry aged NY strip was fantastic. Only downside to the entire meal was that the steamed clams were sandy. It's a bit on the pricey side but well worth it for a special occasion. Will definitely be back.
A decent place to eat. The outdoor sitting area is nice when it is warm out. Service is kinda slow.
So I will leave this here I came here twice 1st time alone ordered some steak & lobster tail I enjoyed the atmosphere, friendly staff & delicious food except my steak was medium but tasted burn I took it home no hard feeling I said it's probably because they busy the grill wasn't clean properly took my family there, wife and kids love the environment, friendly staff the bubble out door was amazing delicious meal & laughter my wife fell in love with the location except her steak was well done mine medium but we had to take half home, I felt bad for her more than me because my steak was medium & taste burn image hers, i had to take both home & i had to eat them to not waste food, remind u the steak wasn't burn but the grill was & leave the burn taste all over the steak it's the only place I ever purchased steak twice & have the same experience, we wanted to go back to the location but I wanted to leave this comment 1sf because I'm all about my steak and see food eating out, but if my steak tasted burn a 3rd time I wont be coming even though all the other meal was great, I would leave a 5star if wasn't for the steaks, change grill or clean more often i know it's a busy location but it really matters.
Atmosphere was pretty good, the steak frites and shrimp and ribs combo were great! And the service was exceptional. Shout out to Haji and staff.
I made reservations to meet my sorority sister here for dinner for 6pm. They will not take reservations prior to a Tues of the week of you want to come in. When arrived I parked in their parking lot and walked in. The hostess greeted me and sat me down. When my friend arrived we were served by a woman named Lilia. I had to find her name on the receipt because she never gave it to us. She wasn't too personal with us but she was nice. Our dinner came with salads and we ordered that and I ordered the shrimp scampi linguini and my friend ordered the prime rib with mashed potatoes. The salad came out first and it wasn't bad. When the food arrived it looked great. For my pasta I had to add salt and pepper to get it to taste the way I liked. I had some of my friend's steak and it was pretty good. The pricing wasn't bad at all either. Spent about $74 altogether. All in all we had a good experience.
I had the Cowboy Rib eye prime steak medium with loaded mash potatoes and crispy onions. So delicious. I would go back for special occasions or if I just wanted to enjoy a day off and get take out. The crust on the steak was nice. The crispy onions added the salt and flavor I wanted on the steak. The staff was very nice and I love being treated like I'm not a bother to anyone. I go to places I'm comfortable and this is top 3. The filet mignon was cooked perfectly. Lobster was excellent. The potatoes? AWESOME. Only critique is maybe a better crab cake sauce but it wasn't a big deal. The crab was good. I will be returning.
Went to this place with the gf for my birthday for the first times, the server was hospitable yet gave us our space. The atmosphere was inviting and jovial. The food was amazing, definitely will come back to try that NY strip, the sides were delish. Only critic with this place were their dreadful plastic refill bottles, if only they switched to GLASS it would’ve changed my rating to a 5.
We stop by at this restaurant since we were around the area. What a nice place and vibe with such a cozy atmosphere especially when it’s winter outside. The service was outstanding too! We ordered burgers and Cesar salad. Although the beef patty was a bit dry all the ingredients were fresh. Brussels sprouts were delicious. We definitely will come back!
Been here before many times, steaks are always delicious and so are the appetizers. Last night went in to pick up 2 Angus cheese burgers that I called ahead for. 1st time that I was not happy with the burgers. It was around 9pm so don't know if that had something to do with it. Anyway I won't let that discourage me from going back! Otherwise love this place! Very much appreciated! Just know that we will definitely spend that refund on a couple of delicious appetizers @BSH!
🚨 Gem alert 🚨 Let’s eat where history was made!! Where to begin, the place is pretty cool and there a lot going on! They offer a diverse menu, ranging from steaks and seafood to burgers and even a raw bar. Now, for starters, we ordered the calamari. It was good, but I found it a bit salty, even though it was still worth ordering. Okay, let’s talk about the entrées. We ordered the pan-fried filet mignon, which had an interesting flavor with the blue cheese and wine sauce. If you’re planning to order it, I recommend going for medium. The steak packs a flavor punch. Now, let’s move on to the cowboy ribeye. I ordered a medium, and it came out good. It paired well with the fried onions and mashed potatoes. I must say, the steaks are missing a bit of the Wild West flavor that I was expecting. But overall, they’re still good steaks. So the drinks , good beer selection, and definitely a good wine selection. I will say the cocktails sounded good but didn’t order any. We ordered a beer from Ghost Hawk, which was great. We also had a red wine called Horse Heaven, Merlot, which was fantastic. definitely will be ordering again. The churros we ordered for dessert were definitely very fulfilling, and the caramel dip was fantastic. The service was fantastic. Nicole was incredibly attentive and didn’t miss a beat. If in the area check it out !!
Andres was kind and amazing server. 5 stars to him. The atmosphere was good too. Next time we want to sit outside and maybe go during happy hour. My husband had the bone in ribeye. He didn’t quite like the quality of the meat, he ordered a medium finish and it came medium well all over and medium in the middle. I had the seafood pasta. I didn’t quite like the shrimp that it came with. I cut up the lobster tail and ate it. It was way more delicious. it was super creamy and tasty. We just moved to the area and liked that this is an option to visit.
Service was great. Ambience was nice but the food quality/taste didn’t line up with the price. If you’re going to charge $50+ for a steak it should be quite good. Didn’t taste much better than an Applebee’s steak IMO
The excitement I had after viewing the menu online was quickly deflated. Note that the customer service and presentation gets about 4.5 stars ⭐️ I ordered the crab & corn chowder. A wonderful combination to make a great soup. Oh it looked great! First taste and I noticed it’s just off. There was no “crab meat” flavor. That’s when I realized that they used imitation crab meat. Who the heck gave them the nasty idea that fake meat in soup is ok. No it’s not The entree was ok for most part. I was told I just chose the wrong things on the menu (I’m not a steak 🥩 eater and their steaks get very good reviews)
What was a joyous dinner occasion for a family member's graduation was tainted with an overpriced, lack luster meal. I'll start with the positives first. The atmosphere at this restaurant is nice and well put together. The bathroom is clean and spacious. The table settings are on par with any nice steakhouse or restaurant you have in mind, and the waiter, as well as the servers, are professional. What made this restaurant middling at best is that I traveled across three states (5+ hours driving) and paid top dollar only to receive a well done, barely warm filet mignon (when I asked for medium), as well as painstakingly slow service. Granted the waiter apologized for the mishandling of my order, but with the amount of time it took to get my initial order and then the corrected order the damage was done. The lobster bisque was forgettable and the other appetizers were mediocre, but the service... the service was just slow. For the pricing point of the meal, I would expect better attention to details and quality food. What really made it irritating is that a lady, possibly a chef or sous chef, came near our table to take pictures of a dish in hand near the window on 2-3 different occasions. This would be acceptable if my party had their appetizers, or even their main course. So, my party and I had to endure staff taking pics of food for social media while we wait, wishing that was our plate. It was torture. Needless to say, there won't be arepeat visit to this place. I recommend future patrons tread lightly
Three stars is for over all dropped two to be fair over employee interaction. I wanted to take a moment to share feedback regarding my party’s recent visit to your restaurant. My group of 16 joined you on 11/12/25 to celebrate a birthday dinner. Although we had a short wait to be seated, our waitress was helpful, kind, and very pleasant throughout the night even when it was clear she could have used an extra hand. We truly appreciated her professionalism and positive attitude. Unfortunately, the evening took an unpleasant turn as we were leaving. I had doubled back to use the restroom near the main entrance, where one of our party members had already been waiting but decided to leave. I knocked on the door to check if it was still occupied, and a male employee came out with his phone in hand and immediately said to me, “Don’t be stupid and knock on the door, go upstairs.” I was caught off guard and told him there was no need to be rude, as I had no way of knowing someone was inside. He then replied, “It was red on the knob, duh,” before walking away through the entrance. I remember thinking, why am I arguing with an employee? I went ahead and used the restroom, as I am currently pregnant and didn’t feel comfortable managing the stairs again. When I came out, I told my fiancé what had happened. He went in to speak with the employee, who responded with sarcasm saying I should’ve “read the sign” and even laughed at us and at the manager when asked to apologize. It was disappointing to learn that this entire exchange stemmed from the employee using the restroom to take a personal break, as the toilet was never flushed and the hand dryer never went off. While the two female managers were very kind, apologetic, and understanding, the situation had already escalated unnecessarily and ultimately ruined what was meant to be a joyful celebration with family. This experience was especially upsetting given my pregnancy and recent loss earlier this year due to stress. We had simply hoped to enjoy a peaceful night with loved ones. I share this not for sympathy but to emphasize how deeply an employee’s attitude can affect guests’ experience. I sincerely hope that this matter is addressed and that additional training or disciplinary action is considered for the staff member involved. Your management team’s efforts to de-escalate the situation were appreciated, and the food and service from our waitress were otherwise wonderful but the incident left a lasting negative impression. I hope to hear that appropriate steps will be taken to ensure this doesn’t happen to other guests. Not only is that considered a family bathroom, but I’m sure also the disabled bathroom given additional restroom is on a second floor. I couldn’t imagine anyone else having to deal with this with a child or disability.
Food was tasteless. And service took awhile to take order... Drinks were tasty and strong.. table top near the bar is way to small to have a comfortable meal. Tables have to be replaced... its a steak house and we require room for our food. Windowsill is an unacceptable place to store plate of food. We were told on the phone they had a t.v. to watch the playoffs. IT WAS 20 inches!!!! NEVER watch a sports event here
Bloomfield Steak and Seafood House is a well known staple in the town. It has a lot of historical background with the building. Unfortunately the food and ambience is very lacking. The restaurant very out of date. It's not too clean and it needs a fresh coat of paint on the walls. The menu is plentiful and should appeal to many, but the food presented is sad. Most of the food I had tasted like it was made in a microwave and not at all fresh. I had the French onion soup, which was hot and not bad. The side salad that comes with your entrée is bland and as two small tomatoes, onions and too much lettuce. For my entrée I got the stuffed flounder with a baked potato. The flounder was too salty and beyond sand looking (based on my photo below). I can't believe it cost $24. I had better at a diner. Based on my dining experience, I wouldn't eat here again. The entire place needs to be fixed, and a new kitchen staff aka a new chef.
Not impressed…sorry! We sat outside in bubble with heater. That part was cool because it was a different experience. The waiter was stoic and unfriendly. The prime rib and lamb chops were both bland and tasteless as was the garlic mashed potatoes. I’ve enjoyed better at Texas Roadhouse. BSSH maybe today was a one off but please step up your games to match your prices. Overall the vibe was off. I can’t explain it but the vibe was a mixture of unwelcoming and tolerant as opposed to welcoming and appreciative. I’m not saying for you not to try this place at least once but for me; it’s a wrap, son! Update: I wrote this while we waited on the check at which time we found out that they charged us $5 for the propane used in the heater. Now, I don’t have a problem paying for anything I know I will be charged for upfront and not from the bill. That’s really wack and underhanded. Smh!
Well I would have rated this restaurant at least 4 stars. The service was great, the food was good and the atmosphere is nice HOWEVER I was very, very disappointed to see a card Surcharge added to my check. Labeled as a "cash discount" but let's call a spade a spade. I just paid $50 for a steak and this is the thanks I get? Credit card fees are the cost of doing business. You either run a cash only establishment or you accept credit/debit cards. I am tired of the war on customers. You know what just charge $5 for that $4 fountain soda. Won't happen again.
Meh. Overrated and overpriced. Do not understand how anyone gives this 5 stars. Their profile says NY quality at NJ prices or something but I’ve eaten at many NY steakhouses and this would not rate with even the disappointing ones! Went to celebrate a family accomplishment here but steaks (3 of us tried filet, ribeye and strip so we could try each others) all were mediocre at best and way overpriced for the quality. Shrimp scampi was decent. Old school vibe in both good and bad ways.
They cancelled our reservation at 9pm the night before our birthday dinner. Poor organization led to horrible experience. And to clarify the response below, they did not offer me an alternate seating time within 30 mins of my original reservation, they wanted me to come in at 4:30, but unfortunately my husband works and wouldn't be able to make a 4:30 dinner. And I had made the reservation around noon. I have no way of knowing that this establishment would have required a deposit or anything else to confirm my reservation, especially since the person I spoke to then said my reservation was in fact confirmed. If I had been told around noon that they were not available to accommodate our party, instead of calling me back at 9pm meant I would have had all day to find and book an alternative reservation. The non apologetic, and accusatory tone from the restaurant included below really just exasperated the disappointment. At the end of the they took a reservation and later had to cancel it because their own employee mishandled. And somehow they speak to me like I'm the one who messed up.
Do not waste your energy and hard earned money at this restaurant. We’ve been looking forward to trying this place, but left extremely disappointed and will not be coming back. I read the response of the restaurant and I’m sorry I offended you with my honest review. It took a while to any employee to interact with us. Finally a young waitress, meek and coy, came over and took our drink and appetizer order. The service was extremely slow. What seemed like a fine dining restaurant was simply causal and lacked attention to detail. We ordered the Clams Casino to start. They were overpowered by bacon and lacked any other flavor. Only one piece had flavor and breadcrumbs on top. My partner, excited for me to finally try clams casino, said this was a horrible first experience. We don’t recommend ordering the Clams Casino if you decide to attempt Bloomfield Steakhouse. Our waitress was nowhere to be found; we had to remind her we needed to order. The salads came out during the appetizer and over crowded the table. The salad is overly bitter and croutons are quite stale- has to pass on the salad and it was a shame to waste all that food. We ordered the crab stuffed flounder and the 1/2 ribs/shrimp for our entrees and they were dry. The ribs did not fall off the bone and needed to be ripped with your teeth/cut off the bone. The founder was dry and hard to eat. The mashed potatoes did not have garlic flavor and the baked potato was the only decent thing. I’ve had better ribs at Chilis; it’s quite embarrassing coming from an expensive steakhouse. The fried shrimp seemed like it was frozen, which might’ve been why it was the only other semi-decent thing on the plate. Still, hard to chew. Everything is so expensive but there’s such a lack of attention to detail and to reiterate the service was disappointing. We noticed the table to the right of us get the attention of their server during their meal and the woman said her meat is over cooked and her partners fish is dry. The menu specifically states not to order things medium well and over nice it will affect the dish. After the Maitre D put the menu down to see if the lady wanted to order anything, the man was done with his food by the time anyone came back to see if she wanted to eat dinner tonight. They said no and left with 20% off and an empty stomach. We found it interesting that the restaurant wasn’t doing too hot for a Saturday night… a night where you’re expected to excel as it’s a weekend and most likely their busiest times. It was embarrassing for their business to experience for our first time here. The Maitre D stopped my partner on the way back from the restroom to ask about our disappointment that we mentioned to our server. We were confused why she couldn’t approach our table directly. We felt we weren’t taken seriously and it’s probably due to our younger age. It was unprofessional that she couldn’t come out to the table and address our issues. Then she had the valor to compare our issue to the table next to us. She suggested that we only admitted there was an issue because they did, but the poor job of the kitchen that night showed a reflection of their business. Sometimes, the customer is right. However, we were complaining out loud and between ourselves since we sat down and had no idea the table next to us was having issues as well. Simply an off night, we assume. My partner told her that “it’s okay, sometimes you have off nights”. The manager said “that’s weird, we don’t have off nights”. After that interaction as my partner was trying to relieve himself, we sat for another 10 minutes with an empty table before our waitress gave us our bill. Nobody brought up the interaction by the host stand to our table. The fact our issue was addressed that way showed us how serious they take dissatisfaction from their patrons and how low they value them. Not only was the service poor, the food was NOT good and we have no interest in coming here. We do not recommend dining here. Try Chili’s instead.
