Truly a magical experience hosting the 2024 Wave Awards!! everything from booking the event, to the follow up, to the prep before the event, the staff, the service, the food, the drinks, the venue and the views, and the after party at the bar downstairs were a five star experience. Highly recommend!!! A truly magnificent experience!! Also because I was so busy hosting the event and did not have a chance to enjoy dinner they even packed me a doggy bag with all the delicious tastings.

I'm a planner and I love coming to the Highlawn for events. The staff is amazing. Gianna, Corina, and Joelle, Angelica (I think I have her name wrong) and all of the event's staff are superb to make sure the event runs smoothly and the space is top notch for being near Eagle Rock park with the nyc skyline. I recommend this venue and the meals are delicious. They go all out.

My husband and I went to the Highlawn to celebrate our anniversary. What a great choice of venue! The staff was so friendly and accommodating - there was a congratulatory card on the table, the wait staff brought us complimentary Prosecco drinks and placed a sparkler in our dessert. It was such fun- the hostess from Brazil took our photo and made sure we were happy with everything . And the food.... incredible, innovative and delicious. Fabulous sushi chef made our appetizer. Five stars to this landmark restaurant in every category. The final point- the best Cappucino!!

My husband and I had our wedding ceremony and reception here last month. Their events coordinator Gianna was amazing, attentive to every detail, made great suggestions, and helped us execute the wedding of our dreams. Our guests could not stop telling us how special and beautiful the venue was! Our ceremony was outside and our cocktail hour was in the tent. The service was amazing, so attentive to our every need on our special day. Our reception was in the ballroom upstairs, which was so beautiful. Food was amazing too! We are so grateful we picked the Highlawn for our wedding, it was absolutely perfect 🤍

Booked for our anniversary dinner. This spot was beautiful with great views of the skyline. Food was delicious and the service was really good. Enjoyed my desert with a sparkler which was a cute touch. It's a nice fine dining spot for all the special events in life.

Lovely ambiance! Came in on a Friday night with friends. There were plenty of tables and a bar area for those wanting appetizers and cocktails only. My table sat in the dining area. Our server was pleasant and friendly. For dinner I had a the Sea Bass. It was flavorful and flaky. I’ll definitely order it again. For dessert, I had a cheesecake and blueberry crumble. Between the two, I enjoyed the Blueberry Crumble the most. The views of the restaurant were amazing. It’s definitely a place for a nice occasion, dinner with friends and family or a date.

The owner reached out personally at acknowledged our concern and treated us to a courtesy dinner which we thoroughly enjoyed. It was an amazing experience and glad we came back! We will certainly return with more plans and more family! Definitely recommend this restaurant venue for date nights, events and especially for the views! Previous experience: I was out on a run/hike and saw this restaurant I thought might be a good anniversary dinner venue. Was rudely discriminated and asked to leave. From one business leader to the other treat all guests with courtesy as if they might come back later.

We came here for our 5th wedding anniversary. We arrived a bit early for our reservation and went to the bar for a drink and decided to have our meal there. The view of NYC is spectacular. The restaurant has clearly been kept up to a modern look. We went on a Thursday, where they provide free apps for guests - the stromboli was outstanding. We ordered the seafood tower for 2, meatball and wedge salad and then the bone in strip and bolognese. The food was outstanding. The shellfish was all fresh and, where applicable, perfectly cooked. The meatball was juicy and tender. The steak was cooked perfectly and just very high quality. The highlight was our bartender. Albert. He was super attentive, friendly and provided a great experience. The kitchen missed our 2nd course and tried delivering our 3rd (which was totally fine with us. We are easy), but he was all over it and had it corrected immediately. He was so apologetic, I felt really badly bc it wasn't a big deal to us, but I can understand for the money people being upset. Regardless, he was such a great bartender. I would recommend going just because of him. We really enjoyed our anniversary here and really appreciate Albert giving us a great experience.

The Highlawn is definitely worth experiencing at least once in your life. I know for many people on a budget (our family included) spending over $110 per person for dinner may seem over indulgent, but I think for a special occasion, it's justifiable. Every single thing we ate and drank was of phenomenal taste and quality, the service was attentive and professional, it really is a top notch dining experience. My husband remarked that the smoked old fashion he had was on his list of top 3 favorite old fashions he has ever had! The Chilean sea bass is the absolute best sea bass I've ever had! We have a ton of outstanding restaurants and dining options available to us in the NYC metro area, and the Highlawn really does hold its own as one of the best.

We had a private event at the highlawn and I just wanted to say that every single person that works there is incredible. From Gianna who helped us plan our event to Jeff, Nick and Alex who helped us the day before and the day of the event. They’re all so nice and courteous. The staff are very accommodating to all requests and planned a very smooth and great event. All our guests enjoyed the great food quality and the breathtaking views. Will definitely be back.

Scenery is stunning, must be one of the best NY city view dinner locations in the country. Bar and dining area are very refined/upscale, dinner (sushi followed by seared scallops) is excellent, yet prices are reasonable. All staff was nice and very attentive, our waiter less so.. that explains the 4 / 5 star service review.

Service was absolutely tremendous. Told them my wife and I are celebrating our anniversary when I made reservations. Everybody from the host, to the waitress to those bringing out our food wished us a happy anniversary. Food was terrific. Everything was cooked to perfection. It was nice to go out for a nice dinner in the type of setting the Highlawn provides and everybody was dressed appropriately for such a dining experience.

Absolutely gorgeous restaurant, nice table manner and fresh food. Lobster tempura is amazing! Beef ravioli is great! Brussels sprouts would be better if it’s roasted in full/half piece. The grilled duck breast is on more plain side.

I am still in awe and completely blown away by the service, ambiance, an overall experience at the Highlawn Pavilion. I recently hosted my engagement dinner there for 65 people and everything completely exceeded my expectations. The food was well seasoned and aesthetically pleasing from the appetizers to the main course, and the service was top notch. I have to highlight the work of the team Jeff, Tammy, Alyson, Will and every single person who helped that night. The night was magical and amazing- they even held the rain back for us to enjoy a beautiful sunset. I give this place 5 stars for service, food and overall experience. Delicious and above par experience. Our server was great and accommodating. The food was impeccable- upscale and inline with the menu pricing. This is an upscale dining experience with great views. Service was great. The whole experience was lovely and I highly recommend dining here. Reservations needed especially if you are celebrating something or would like a window seat. I was not impressed with the outdoor patio seating so we opted for indoor.

Last month we had my daughters Bat Mitzvah at The Highlawn. From start to finish, it was a pleasure to work with Gianna! She was always available and so easy and accommodating. If I needed to sub something for another, it was no problem which was really appreciated to not have to worry about. We had over 200 ppl which had me concerned about feeling too crowded. She assured me that they would make it all work out and do their best to not add tables on the dance floor. They made that happen and to my surprise, it was comfortable without having to put any tables on the the dance floor. Joelle (our Maître d) was also wonderful! As soon as we got to the party she asked if I would like a drink or if I needed anything. Being someone who planned the event without the help of planners, I really appreciated feeling taken care of from start to finish. We received sooo many compliments on the food and how good it was. The dance floor is large which was great having so many people, particularly kids. Additionally, they set up the usable outdoor balcony/patio space which was sometimes used throughout the day even in December. The views of course are amazing and having so many large windows all around made the space feel even larger. We loved having our event catered here and I would highly recommend it. I would just note to make sure you reinforce the address and the name as The Highlawn. Some of our guests put in the Highlawn pavilion which led them to another address and therefore arrived a bit late.

Just had a bridal shower in the upstairs private room this past Saturday. It was absolutely STUNNING and went perfectly. The service was top notch (thank you Noah!!!) and we received so so many compliments. It was truly incredible. When it came to the planning, Gianna was an absolute DREAM to work with. She was incredibly kind, extremely responsive, and most importantly, flexible. She allowed us to come early for set up, worked with us on all vendor needs, worked on floor plans and adjustments wherever needed. I am so grateful for my experience here and appreciate the exceptional service from start to finish. Gianna is the real deal. An added bonus - the food was insanely good! I cannot recommend this place enough!

The single best decision we made for our wedding was to book The Highlawn. From our initial tour in the Fall of 2022 and the second we saw the stunning outline of the New York skyline from atop the mountain on which it sits, we knew this was our wedding venue. Throughout the planning process, the events coordinator, Gianna, is incredibly helpful, responsive and eager to answer any question or concern. Gianna is the sweetest individual! The food was divine and gourmet style (get the steak!). We also had our rehearsal dinner in the Wine Cellar downstairs, which provided a warm and cozy atmosphere to our bridal party and nuclear family. Overall, the cocktail hour at The Garden Pavilion outside and the reception in the Skyline Ballroom upstairs were all three beautiful, unique spaces for our wedding weekend. The food was delicious, the service impeccable and it was very easy to plan. Our guests were blown away, and it was truly the best day of our lives. From start to finish, John was nothing short of amazing. His attentiveness, professionalism, and genuine care for our clients event matched our own, which is incredibly rare and so appreciated in our line of work. John went above and beyond to ensure every detail was executed seamlessly. His communication was clear and consistent, and he handled every aspect of the day with true genuine care. Breathtaking views paired with delicious food and balanced cocktails. It does not get much better than this. Service is exceptional and the price is fair considering the quality. Highly recommend this place - and not just for special events. This place deserves to be in your dining-out rotation.

Best NYC view. The staff is very attentive. Great for any occasion. My last visit I discovered their pizza. It was delicious. Calamari with shrimp was perfectly fried. Valet parking available Beautiful Patio Music on Friday nights

What a gorgeous view! Took my mom out for lunch and had a lovely time. Food was delicious and the server was nice and attentive. The restaurant itself was very pretty, looks like they recently renovated. Parking was plentiful. Would definitely recommend for an evening out, especially if you are looking for a place with a view.

We had our wedding here in October and it was a dream come true! From the unbeatable views, to the unique and delicious food, the perfect space, and the amazing staff that helped us throughout the planning process and on the day, everything went as well as we could have imagined! Would definitely recommend it for anyone considering a special event there!

I have been using the Highlawn to host my parties for almost two years now. Everything has been wonderful, from beginning to end for all of my events. The highlawn never disappoints.The food, the ambiance, the drinks, the staff.....what a great place to throw a party!

Sunday brunch turned into a highlight for visiting family, the dining room was bright with floor to ceiling windows, pastries tasted fresh, eggs were cooked exactly as ordered, coffee refills were immediate, and our server offered to take group photos so no one was left out, we never felt rushed to leave our table.

We had the wedding of our dreams in their tent! Everything was beyond beautiful, and the staff made sure every detail was perfect from start to finish. Our guests are still talking about how stunning the space was and how amazing the food was. A very special shoutout to Gianna Marrone, the event sales manager. Gianna was such a pleasure to work with, always so responsive, organized, and supportive throughout the entire planning process. She went above and beyond to make sure our vision came to life, and her warm, professional approach made everything so much easier (and more fun!). Thanks to her, our day was stress-free and truly unforgettable. This all couldn’t happen without Laine and Anthony who went above and beyond to make sure everything was the way we wanted by accommodating all of our crazy requests! We are forever grateful. If you’re looking for a venue that combines beauty with an exceptional team, look no further. We couldn’t be happier!

Went for Birthday celebration. Restaurant was more than accommodating wishing my partner happy birthday at the check-in stand and several times once we reached the table. We both received complementary pink champagne upon seating. we were seated facing a huge exterior window, which looked out onto the sparkling lights of New Jersey in the foreground and the New York City skyline in the background… The absolute, perfect setting! Upon being seated, my partner wasgiven a happy birthday card and a fizzling torch embedded in decorated chocolate chip ice cream after dinner. The drinks we ordered were unique and delicious. We ordered a short rib bahn mi for appetizer, Just tell me what it is catch a puppy send the spelling so what was it? It was like a wide pasta and what was in it OK thank you which was the only disappointing note for the evening: the meat was cold, and the bun was bland. For the entrée, my partner ordered a spicy wide pasta dish in an incredible tomato sauce with jumbo lump crab… An outstanding dish. I ordered lamb chops with an incredible tiny lentil sauce. Easily, the best lamb chops I’ve ever had.

The banquet manager truly went above and beyond in every aspect of our event. From the initial planning stages through the final moments, their professionalism, attention to detail, and genuine care were evident. Every request was handled promptly and thoughtfully, and they anticipated needs before we even had to ask. Their leadership ensured the entire event ran seamlessly, creating a stress-free and memorable experience for everyone involved. It’s rare to encounter someone so dedicated to excellence—this level of service made all the difference. Highly recommend.

We just had our wedding there this past weekend and I CANNOT say enough about this place!!! Btwn communication with Gianna and the GM Joel, they made our day amazing! The food was absolutely unbelievable & drinks were even better!!! All our guests keep ranting and raving about it. I’m so glad I chose this venue to host the best night of our lives!!!

Christmas dinner here was time well spent. The food was delicious though the menu was very limited given the holiday. The manager was kind enough to allow us to select an off menu aged steak rib eye, and it did not disappoint.

Went to this restaurant for my father's monumental birthday for a surprise. Great spot viewing New York City! The cocktail was tasty and my family enjoyed the wine. The appetizer, salmon, and chicken marsala dishes were great. We had a very nice waiter who was attentive and made our dinner experience at the High Lawn unforgettable

4 Stars is more for the Location, View, Ambience, Service, and Cocktails, rather than the food. Food was not bad, it was definitely above average and quantity was good, but I would expect more quality and consistency for the price.. While some items great, some items were just OK (especially Seafood). I will probably dine there again but will stick to meat options..

Great atmosphere and people who worked there were great. Fire whoever coordinates the food. Everyone as guests at this wedding agreed. Food was terrible!

We went there last night to celebrate my daughter's Birthday. The food, service, and atmosphere was great. The dessert menu was lacking. Very few options. The bad part of the experience...they charged 10% extra to use a credit card. UNBELIEVABLE! With prices that high most people wouldn't carry that much cash with them. I think it's outrageous for an upscale establishment to gouge people like that. We will NOT be going back. Amendment: The Highlawn reached out and apparently there was an error with the charge. Thank you for the reimbursement for the extra charge. Service gets 5 stars!

The food was mediocre at best and the service was matching, as the waitress kept strechibg over us to collect plates. We had to request a spoon in order to drink the lsoup and als request salt and black pepper for my pasta. I ordered spaghetti Bolognese. This was served with kthick fettuccine instead of this pasta, there was no sauce and no minced meat, only chunks of meat. Very dissapointibg

Disappointing Fine Dining Experience Today my culinary school took us to this restaurant for a fine dining experience, as this is what we have been learning about in class. Unfortunately, the experience fell far short of expectations. From the beginning, communication with my chef instructor was poor. When we arrived, I can say the restaurant had an amazing view, but that was the only positive aspect of our visit. After being seated, it took nearly 20 minutes for a server to approach our table. A host from the front did come by to tell us "just one more minute." When our server finally arrived, he rushed through everything, resulting in my order being incorrect for every course. My chef instructor even received raw chicken, and surprisingly, no one came to apologize despite this being an upscale establishment. They simply took the plate back without explanation. The food was cold and very average—we are preparing better dishes in our culinary school. Throughout our meal, other staff kept glancing at our table, yet no one ever checked if we needed anything or if we were enjoying our experience. As culinary students, we expected the restaurant to demonstrate what proper service in an upscale establishment should look like. Instead, there was no sense of hospitality; everything felt rushed, and we were made to feel uncomfortable. Another issue arose when the menu clearly stated that two drinks were included, but the manager insisted to my chef that it was only one drink per person. When we finished, we were given to-go boxes without bags—a small detail, perhaps, but considering we spent nearly $1,000, you would expect better service throughout. The most disappointing part came when we were leaving. The manager simply looked at us and walked away without a "thank you" or "please come back"—not even a goodbye. I made a point to say "thanks for having us" out loud, and only one tall staff member bothered to respond. As future chefs and restaurant owners, we visited this establishment hoping for an experience that would match its premium prices. The interior is indeed very nice, which sets an expectation for equally impressive service, but this was not the case at all. The restaurant knew we were coming and that we were students from the Hudson County Culinary program—why not make an effort to demonstrate proper hospitality? My server got my order wrong multiple times yet still received a $120 tip. I will never return to this restaurant, and one day we may be their competition. If nothing else, they certainly taught us what not to do in our future establishments.

Came for dinner and to inquire about hosting our daughter’s first birthday. While the food was excellent (our dinner for two was nearly $800), the interaction with the Event General Manager, Joel, was shocking. She was dismissive and condescending and repeatedly made assumptions about what she “didn’t think we could afford,” including implying we wouldn’t spend serious money on a child’s first birthday. We were discouraged from dinner options, offered only a tent with restrictive time slots, and told “absolutely not” when asking about the main dining room — despite our flexibility. Being judged and spoken down to while dining is unacceptable. We will not be returning and strongly caution anyone considering this venue for private events.

Haven't been here in a couple of years. The bar service was terrible, servers not accommodating or knowledgeable. Actually they were very nasty. The offerings for food at the bar are misrepresented. The highlawn misto said calamari, spicy shrimp, long hot peppers. There was 1 shrimp and no long hots, but a little piece of something green about 1 1/2 inches long. Reading other reviews and someone mentioned it was zucchini. The bartender indicated that it was a premixed dish- whatever that means- and I would not see the long hots- whatever that means. The bartender did offer to change order but his attitude about the dish and the misrepresentation was unprofessional for such an expensive place. Do not waste your money here. I will never go here again

I am usually not hyper critical, especially on days as busy as Valentines Day. But when the service is horrid enough to ruin me and my girl’s special night, I have to let others know. This was a pre fixe menu. First thing they do, is take your order for all four courses to make the night seamless and allow you uninterrupted time with your partner. I appreciated this, at least in theory. First two courses came as ordered. But the third order took our service THREE times and 35-40 minutes to get right. THREE TIMES the server got our 3rd course wrong after being told THREE TIMES what it was. Unacceptable. I don’t care how busy the night is. That’s negligent and unbefitting of the establishment, let alone the near $500 I spent in advance for AN EXPERIENCE. To rectify the matter, the servers covered our drinks for the evening (not any of the initial $500). But honestly, that did not rectify a thing. Respectfully, this place is not worth the money or the headache. It is BEAUTIFUL, do not get me wrong, and the view is amazing, and the food was good (not great). But for that I’d go to a museum and get a bite before. If you want good service, this is not the place for you.
