Avis sur Curly's Buffalo
Food was very good. We ordered the stuffed peppers, chicken jerk sandwich , steak sandwich and peanut butter mousse cake. All fantastic, but we did waddle out!
What a great restaurant....lovely ambiance. Staff was very friendly & attentive. Our meals were great! We will def go back the next time we are in Buffalo.
The restaurant week menu was Excellent. We had 2 meals and wonderful bottle of wine. Only wierd thing...stayed for 2 after dinner aperitif, was charged for the drink and $2.00 extra for "neat"....strange.
I have lived in Lackawanna for almost 32 years and have never had Curly's until tonight. I had no idea what we were missing. The food and the service made this my new favorite place. We were going to the bandits championship game and I made the reservations without thinking of what time we would have to be downtown. The male hostess with out hesitation seated us a half hour early. Megan the waitress seen the bandits gear and made us a promise to get us out of there as fast as possible. On top of the speed she was very sweet and never forgot a thing we asked of her. I had ordered 3 appetizers for dinner and they were all amazing. The crab cakes were hands down the best I ever had. My wife had gotten bbq brisket special and that was spectacular as well. Hands down the best casual/fancy restaurant in the southtowns area and we will now be regulars.
Oh my goodness. The food was absolutely delicious. It was very tasty. Everyone in our party loved their meals. Desert was mouthwatering. Our server was very friendly and knowledgeable. Highly recommend.
We had my mother's 70th birthday party there. The party was in the banquet room. I was very, very happy with the service. Also, the food was great! I usually find the food at banquet buffets to just be 'ok'. The buffet good was EXCELLENT. The pork was delicious. Everything was very good. Everyone liked the food. Even my 11 year old, who is usually really picky and hard to please. Great place, I would definitely recommend it.
Have not been here in a few years. I don't remember having a negative experience and I can definitely say that there was ZERO issue this time as well. The food is amazing. The staff was fantastic and kept things fun. Great atmosphere.
Waiter was great , food and drinks were spot on , great experience, will return and recommend to my family and friends to come out and try it out !!
Had a baby shower at Curley's on Sunday, Dec. 27th and it could not have been better. Working with the coordinator, Sarah, was extremely easy and pleasant. Anytime I emailed Sarah she got back to me in a timely and upbeat manner. She addressed every issue I had and made hosting the baby shower extremely easy. The room we used was a perfect size and little extras were already set up when we arrived - alternating pink and white napkins and a pink rocking chair for the mom-to-be to sit in when she opened gifts (too cute!!!) We had punch and red and white wine, appetizers, and lunch which included the dessert. Everything was delicious and was served in a very efficient manner by the servers. I needed two special meals - gluten free and vegetarian - and that was not a problem at all. Since I was the one who needed the gluten free meal, I can testify that it was delicious. When the bill came I thought it would be more based on extras that I ordered but the total cost was very reasonable. I was very happy with the job that Curly's did and very happy that we chose Curly's for our baby shower.
Best Fish Fry around! Staff is super welcoming! Awesome atmosphere! Can't wait to go back!
Large, free parking lot across the street, walk in to a fully stocked bar area, then to the dining area which is nicely done. Different menu with many Caribbean options. If you've never had this type of food this is the place to go! We started with 2 apps, one was a crispy glazed chicken wing, I want to say Korean, sweet and delicious, the other was conch, also amazing! I had a Caribbean bleu fish dinner which was a mild white fish (sea bass) smothered in an amazing sauce, served with asparagus and au gratin potatoes after a salad served with homemade dressing! Delicious!! Too full for dessert but my nephew and his wife insisted I take something home because it was my birthday! It was a creme roll with berries, also amazing!! Its a large menu, I think something for most everyone. Server was super nice too!
Haven't been at Curly's for quite some time as my experience was poor. Was invited by a friend and decided to give it another chance. Well.....it was absolutely fabulous! My friend and I were fickle and both liked 2 of the same meals so, we split our meals I got Ochie? Chicken, she got the sea bass. We shared and were delighted! It's been a very long time since I had a meal as good as this and will be back! So if you haven't been there in a while, try it again! You won't be sorry!
Great place to go for dinner. I have to eat gluten free because of allergy and they have a great menu for gluten free food. They even brought out gluten free bread and butter when they brought the rest of table bread and butter which never happens!!! Had great jerk chicken and rice. Would go back again in heartbeat.
This is my wife and I absolute go-to! Joanne is our fav bartender and always so welcoming. Food, always on point and pricing is insanely low considering the quality of service and food. Jill was our wedding coordinator and she made our time there amazing, even made some exceptions to our menu to suit EXACTLY what we wanted. The food was amazing and it gave us the opportunity to spend some special time with just our wedding party.
Some of the best food I've ever had. I can give you many recommendations on what to eat but it doesn't matter. Everything, absolutely everything is incredible. Korean wings, Caribbean meat pies, conch fritters to start. Jerk chicken dinner. We also ordered an extra Korean wings to take home. First time there in about 30 years and it's even better. Also brought some homemade desserts and they were next level as well.
Service was awesome. Tom the bartender and our waitress were overly attentive (great thing). Had the butternut squash raviolis with pumpkin. It was great. The other three diners at my table all enjoyed their meals. It's not cheap, but felt I received good value for my evening.
Wonderful dinner. The stuffed peppers, harvest salad and order of fries for our party was amazing. Taylor was a great server, gave us amazing recommendations , and kept my glass filled (which rarely happens anymore). Curly’s was recommended by a sweet lady at the Basilica.
My husband and I just left from dinner this evening. I can honestly say (both of us agree) this was the best dinner we have had in years, and well worth the price!! My husband and I go out to eat around Buffalo at least 3x a week. We are not food snobs by any means but we LOVE our food and drinks. Tonight's dinner and drinks were amazing!! My husband and I ate at the bar. Tom was a bartender, he was wonderful. My husband and I were extremely satisfied with our drinks. For dinner we ordered the coco cay grilled shrimp appetizer, I ordered a salad with grilled chicken, and my husband ordered the 16 oz del Monica (rare). Everything was delicious! The jerk sauce with the chicken was delicious, so was the goat cheese with the salad. The salsa and jerk sauce with the shrimp was delightful. The winner was definitely the steak cooked to perfection with bone marrow on the side. It was all amazing and know we will be back again this month!! Our compliments to Curly's!! The cooks and bartender were great!!
We had a fantastic dinner at Curlys. The service was excellent and the food was delicious. All the dishes were prepared and served with such purpose. The portions were great too. We had crab cakes, beet salad, Curlys burger, black black bean soup, and scallops Balboa...all just super good. Wonderful restaurant there in Lackawanna!
Had a family dinner there this evening. There was something for each of the three generations including many gluten free options! We were all thrilled, my dad - who is hard to please, my daughter with food allergies and my son the complainer. The food was amazing, the service spectacular and the atmosphere was welcoming! This will be one of our regular stops from now on. If there are any grammatical or spelling mistakes, blame them on the awesome cocktail menu 😁
We just had our wedding rehearsal dinner at Curly’s and everything was awesome! Jill was responsive and accommodating to all my questions and requests. The staff the night of was very attentive and welcoming. The food was delicious! Everyone at the party had great things to say about all the buffet options, especially the jerk chicken. I definitely recommend them and will keep them in mind for future family events!
My wife and I went on 1/30/13 and had a great time. They were a little slow to seat us, but I believe it was because they were busy with a banquet in the other room. It wasn't a big deal, and maybe only a 5 minute wait despite our reservations. Our server was not only nice, but knowledgeable about the specials and menu as a whole. Our food was delicious, the wall paintings made you feel like you were in the tropics, the drinks were great, and the service was timely and not overwhelming. We enjoyed our night out, and would never hesitate to go back. One piece of advice for the owners, however, is to serve real butter with the bread (not packets like you find at a diner) and to offer cloth napkins instead of cheap paper ones (again, the diner). We had to ask for extra napkins after our appetizer, which should never be the case when you're spending over $100 for two people. Other than that, we have no complaints and will be back.
Great food and service. The ginger pear martini was right on. We started with some of the best stuffed hot peppers weve ever had. I had the duck which was cooked to perfection. My husband had jerk chicken which was amazing, and exactly what I'll be going back for next time we go. Their drink and dessert options are many. We will definitely be back. We loved the atmosphere and our server was awesome.
We made a last minute reservation for Saturday evening, 7pm for 14 people. Our table was ready for us when we got there, no waiting! We had gluten free, dairy free and vegetarians to feed. The menu is very user friendly and most of the menu can be adjusted to suit dietary needs. I ordered a seafood dish which was baked in parchment paper. Sea bass was perfectly prepared and very flavorful. The dairy free was harder to satisfy because most of the dishes are prepared with cheese and cream. No topping choices available for burgers, just a balsamic glazed burger of the day. No tomatoes or onions. Taking everything into account, they welcomed us, my dish was excellent and I will definitely be back.
I have been coming here since I was a kid and the new management has made my love for Curly's grow! I take every opportunity for a night out over here - I even had my wedding rehearsal dinner here because it's just THAT GOOD! Get those silk purses or some jerk chicken, you won't be sorry! The specials are always changing and always delicious, and they also have some great gluten free options - a must visit!
This is our family’s special occasion restaurant. Been here many times and have tried a good amount of their menu. Best Jerk Chicken in Buffalo. Our favorite dish is the Silk & Satin. That may be my favorite pasta dish anywhere in Buffalo. Always look forward to returning.
We had mother's 90th birthday party here a last weekend. It was as nice as could be. The room was large and decked out with a Christmas tree and lights. The food was served buffet style and was very good and generous. The wait staff were all helpful, courteous and friendly. 4 stars
Just simply loved this restaurant, a family feel and yet high caliber of an atmosphere that really suits for a comfort and truly captures a high quality of dine out that you can really call a "fine dining" experience. The candle lighting, the atmosphere, the service and especially the choices of food were on point. This spot was worth the time and money spent (not too extremely expensive as well).
If I could give 10 stars, I would! This is our favorite restaurant in the south towns. I always tell everyone how amazing it is- from the service, to the food, and even the specialty cocktails. If you are looking to have dinner at a restaurant with an upscale vibe but a super reasonably priced menu, this is your place to go. We have tried just about every appetizer on the menu, we always have something off of their specials menu, the desserts are out of this world and every cocktail is mixed to perfection. You will not be disappointed. I also want to thank all of the servers for being so sweet. It makes the restaurant experience as a while just that much more enjoyable.
Have been a patron of this establishment since the mid 90's. I have always had a wonderful meal! I love the updates to the decor since back then! The girls behind the bar hustled on New Years Eve and a mean drink in the process! Kudos to Curly's!
Great food, great atmosphere, great staff. Would absolutely return next time we’re in town.
Live in the area, passed by on the occasion. Finally decided to have dinner there, with my siblings, to celebrate my Mother's birthday/life. It was not what I expected, very warm n cozy inside, very inviting.. I thought typical bar n grille?! Well not in the least! Very pleased with the service, atmosphere, and food was amazing🥰 had the *silk & santin (sacchetti pasta, prosciutto, peas, mushrooms, parmesan and cream.. Needless to say, it was not overly rich, just heavenly prepared) sister n brother had their bistro tender (steak sand) came with hand cut fries, topped on bread, with a side of slaw Yum! My sister n I shared each other's food 😋 was so happy.. We also had desserts! An orange creamsicle cheesecake and chocolate mousse, with hand-painted chocolate cups, fresh whipped cream n fresh berries.. Omgoodness😍 Was so delicious, especially the chocolate mousse cups❣️ We'll definitely be back to try the other dishes! Thank you for a lovely evening, Curly's 💜
Curly's never disappoints. Their food is always delicious. I never had a bad meal. The service is excellent. The waitresses or waiters are helpful and very attentive. It is always a wonderful experience there.
Great dinner! The mussels were awesome. Got to try that at home. Drinks were yummy, service was great. Nice dinner before we tailgate at highmark tomorrow with much less class🙂
We shared some appetizers, Reuben fritters, the gnocchi poutine, and the beef on weck mac and gnocchi poutine. All were delicious. And the winter blues cocktail was fabulous. I hadn't been to Curly's in years but I can't wait to go back.
Excellent food! They had the best green beans I've ever tasted! My steak was a bit overdone (I asked for medium-rare, it was more of a medium/medium-well.) But it was still delicious. Would absolutely go back and give them another chance at the steak, & I'm considering holding a banquet at their restaurant.
Nice place for a romantic relaxing time, and the food was great
Our server Rose was delightful. She had great insights about the menu, as this was our first visit. The Korean wings were delicious. Can't wait to get back and have those again! The jerk chicken was also very flavorful and juicy. The seasonal cocktails were a hit with our table, especially the Christmas Cookie cocktail. Looking forward to coming back on a Tuesday for $.50 wings at the bar.
Lauren, our waitress was very friendly, made great recommendations, and service was excellent. Katy makes fantastic drinks. Fantastic food. The Jerk chicken wings are so full of flavor, moist and tender. Fabulous jerk spicing. Large stuffed banana peppers with just the right heat, fresh marinara and toast. The stuffed pork chop Milanese with baby kale and chutney was the perfect mix of cold and crisp with perfectly prepped pork chop stuffed with walnut dressing. The steak au povre was tender and served over mashed potatoes with tender asparagus. Highly recommend the peanut butter mouse pie for dessert. The smoked cocktails are very cool. The Purpke Haze Marguerita is the perfect mix of citrus and tequila with very cool colors. The reviews show 4.3 stars but should really be 5 star.
Wow! Can't believe I've never been here. What a great, diverse menu. Drinks were excellent as was the food. Anything with the word "Jerk" in it has to be tried. Presentation was excellent. Save room for an order of fresh made chocolate chip cookies.
Curly's Restaurant Lackawanna NY Nestled, in a Lackawanna, in the heart of the city This Restaurant, is the most up- standing Restaurant, I believe in buffalo. As we have , traveled through out Western New York, trying to find the Gem of the ball, of eating out on a special occasion, Hands down this is were you need to go! We were very impressed, with the great details of a wonderful evening Was going to be. Next, the waiter, was so quick to come, presented the menu, and was very polite and professional , years of service. all the staffed moved within motions of the professionalism the restaurant service staff flet like you were inside Time dance . They all moved with a flow , smooth, and fast, like a silent, wind, So quickly, and quietly. Like swinging arms of a gracious grandfather clock. Well, I have to say they're are plenty of restaurants, serving, up this dish, and none of them, Are terrible yet, none of them are perfect either! This is was the most perfect mussels dish I have ever tasted. The mussels , were so soft and cooked perfectly, that they slid off the shell themselves, The cream sauce with cheese was the perfect consistency, Not to heavy, yet you still receive the full flavor through- out the dish, I am telling you, no one has soft perfectly cooked mussels like this, It was clear, they took the time to watch over the cooking process. The salmon veggies, sweet potato skillet, came out bubbling and plentiful, The huge portion, was so good, I could only eat half, you are taking the time to fill up the pan, with an amazing amount of food, this is what your paying for. pay attention to the details to the customer. Thank you Mat ,our server, whom spent the time making sure we had a joyful experience,
Genuinely blown away by our experience. My husband and I went here for our anniversary and it was the best anniversary dinner out we've ever had. Every aspect of the restaurant was great. Some of the best food we've ever eaten, great cocktails, friendly engaging server. A high quality restaurant like no other in the area.
Curly's Grille is fantastic! Jerk chicken skillet! Sweet, spicy and fresh! Chicken was so tender and juicy. Veggies cooked to perfection. Peanut butter pie for dessert....ROCKED IT OUT OF THE PARK! So much so, that I forgot to take the picture prior to diving in. Server TOM right on! Atmosphere with the right lighting and great music! Pricing is reasonable for the size of plates. Curly's is a 10!!!! A huge THANK YOU!!! to the wonderful couple that paid for my dinner. Paying it forward!!! Thank you Curly's and patrons of Curly's for a wonderous evening.
First time dining at this restaurant and wow . I was not expecting it to be this nice . I was definitely underdressed. I believe it is casual dress code but I would recommend maybe a button down and a nice pair of jeans . The service was A+ our waitresses name was Taylor and she was very knowledgeable about the menu and even gave us recommendations to try since it was our first time . Our food was also very good . You definitely have to try the black bean soup I definitely enjoyed that . This time around we chose to get appetizers. The banana peppers and calamari was delicious the shrimp was a hit I wish we got two orders . You have to definitely try the cheesecake ❤️We are looking to go back soon and try some main menu items
We absolutely love Curlys! Peter is the first friendly face you see! We love his daughter Giselle who used to be our server regularly! The food is outstanding, have eaten so many meals off the menu and loved them all! My boyfriend is Celiac and they go above and beyond to make sure his food is safely prepared and served! The atmosphere is trendy, dim lighting(cool lights on the table provided to read the menu...great update!), Buffalo artwork! Huge bar if you need a girls night out! Banquet space for parties! Huge parking lot...bonus for a city restaurant! Def consider Curlys for your next dinner out in Buffalo! Our dinners photographed below(shrimp skillet, jerk chicken, key lime pie!)
Date night with my Future Husband. If you haven't been to Curlys yet it's a MUST. We had their Reuben fritters and Mac and cheese bites as appetizers. The Reuben fritters were amazing. We usually don't even like saurkrat but WE both loved these and can't wait to eat them again. We also had their famous sweet and delicious jerk chicken and a nice steak that melted in your mouth with homemade, out of this world whipped potatoes and some mixed veggies. Can't wait to eat here again! Also can't wait for our wedding here!
Stopped for Happy Hour entries and drinks 50 percent off. Good selection of local craft beers on tap . There was 3 of us and we ordered 5 entries, which were very good and we brought bagged left overs home. Newly redecorated and very inviting.
It had been a few years since I'd been back to Curly's. I really should get back here more often. The place has a very intimate vibe and atmosphere that I appreciate. The menu had good options and was prepared well, the server was excellent and I never felt rushed. Will be back again.
We're there for an anniversary party. Three choices made prior to the evening. Food was good but serving a half chicken was hard to eat while dressed up and out for this function. That is for a picnic when can use your hands
I found the decor to be a little sparse, and somehow gigantic chandeliers just don't jibe with wood paneled walls. It was pleasant enough though. Our waiter was great. I think his name was Thom. My daughter got the chicken breast over mango chutney and loved it. My sister and I both got scallops and did not enjoy them. They were flavorless. I think possibly they were a little bit overcooked. One thing that was absolutely sensational where the crab cakes.
Waitress was pleasant but not present. Food was fine.
Just moved back to town, was extremely excited to go there, but like most things, it just wasnt the same. Im not sure why they decided to add Mango to the Jerk Chicken Sandwich. It had that spicey flavor I was looking for, but the addition of the mango made it sloppy and changed the sandwich and the flavor I had missed. All 3 of us were disappointed in the addition of the mango. Our server was cold and didnt engage us at all. Once we got our food, we sat there for while in what was a pretty dead restaurant, and yet she couldnt be bothered to check on us. I was very surprised by there reduced hours.
Had a really lovely dinner at Curly's! It was our first time dining at the restaurant since their recent (~2 years ago) renovation. My husband and I were very impressed with the ambiance and the food, it felt very romantic and pleasing to our eyes and bellies. We started with an order of grilled jerk wings, which came with celery, carrots and house bleu dressing. So much flavor from the seasonings and from the grill. Next we had their famous black bean soup and were basically licking the bowl, it is that good. We shared the rack of lamb with braised greens and butternut gnocchi. The lamb was cooked to (medium) perfection and the greens were nice and garlicky. The only item we did not love was the butternut gnocchi - it seemed to be missing seasonings and that butternut flavor. Overall, we left the restaurant feeling very happy and we look forward to returning!
Very good food and amazing atmosphere in a rather quaint area of Lackawanna. But for the price? Personally, I would say worth a try and if it's your thing- go! But for me, I'll pick a cheaper establishment with bigger portions and ambiance that is nearly on par.
The food there was tasty and presented really nicely but the service wasn't the best. Although it's supposed to be a Caribbean themed place the music wasn't as up beat as I had hoped. The restaurant itself wasn't very bright as you would expect from a Caribbean themed place either. But the food was really good.
Went here for Easter. Apps were good but entrees could have been better. My husband had a prime rib steak and did not look like prime rib. It was very rare and had to send back and it looked like it was microwaved. My son had chicken and it was raw in the middle after eating most of it. ( he got a lill sick from it at home after) My carbonara was just ok. I sure hope the regular menu is better prepared. The restaurant itself was very nice and pleasant and the bar looks amazing. It is clean. I hope to give it another try someday, just not real soon 😉
The Jerk Chicken was incredibly dry, it came with rice and beans. The rice had no flavor and only 3 beans in the serving. On the other hand the Deviled Clams Casino appetizer was Delicious! They have a little diced jalapeno that added just the right amount of heat without being overwhelming and there was a nice amount of actual clam.
I wasn’t going to give a bad review but this was over the top of terrible. My son and daughter-in-law were married in the botanical gardens last May. Curley catered the meal. My son paid for filet mignon. When we were being served it was strip steak! He inquired and they said it was the same price. My son paid $25 extra per person for 40 people to have the filet! That comes to $1,000! They weren’t given a refund or apology or anything! It was a huge chunk of money to swallow. Then at the end of the reception, they were told the cake would be boxed up and they could get it the next day when they came back to gather their decorations etc! The next day when the arrived, they were told that there was no cake, that the guests took it home. There were 50 people at the reception. The cake was made for 150 people. After asking family and friends, no one was given cake to take home. So basically they stole the rest of their cake. It was so disappointing! I hope NO ONE BOOKS A WEDDING RECEPTION WITH CURLY’s! They cost them a lot of money and the cake that was part of their special day! And the cake wasn’t cheap! I will say that the food was delicious but we’ll NEVER patronize them again. I hope you don’t either!
Our Family has roots in Lakawana and many memories at Curly's throughout the years. The restaurant has undergone some beautiful renovations. The food has remained delicious and they offer gluten free options. Only wish they would include more healthy options. We were there this March to celebrate a birthday and brought our own cake for a party of 7. The waitress did let the responsible person know that a $2.50 per slice charge would be added to the bill.To our disappointment the cake slices where very small. My tip to you is to slice your own cake as it is an option. You will avoid this rediculous up charge and not be left with a sour taste in your mouth.
We haven't been here since I had to go GF, but know its reputation for being able to handle it. The server was fabulous and well-aware of my diet. That said, I definitely got a gluten item at some point, and I'm not overly sensitive. Someone messed up, not sure if the server told me the soup was safe and it wasn't or the kitchen cooked something incorrectly. Everyone else liked their food, but it would have been nice if the server had cautioned my daughter that the soup she ordered was quite spicy All in all, if it wasn't for my diet restriction, this would have been great; for a restaurant that has a long-standing reputation for handling gluten sensitivity, I was quite disappointed.
The jerk is tasty, definitely not authentic as far as spice goes... The grilled jerk wings could be done better so they aren't obviously chicken wings that were reheated on the grill. Everything is pretty good here but nothing really stood out as great. This rating is based solely on the food, the service we received was great
My friend and I came for ladies night. I have been a bartender for over 12 years and my first rule is always greet the customer even if you cannot get to them right away. We sat at the bar for about 20 minutes before even getting a hello, even when she was standing right infont of us. Then when she finally did it was very rushed and you could tell she was annoyed. I understand if you are busy but simple I’ll be with you when I can would be nice. Food was good, service not so much.
Service at the bar was forgettable. The bartender seemed to serve people that worked there rather than the customers at the bar. Food was good, but service lacked severely! Customers qeee more friendly and helpful with menu than the actual bartender Will not return
Food was decent. The service was terrible. The waitress barely checked up on us and never provided the complimentary bread/oil. And the restaurant was not overly busy. Then when I tried to cash out she returned a completely different credit card than my own. As much as I enjoy a tasty meal, the poor service is so unappealing its not worth to go for the food.
My first experience at Curly's was a few years ago on a quiet weekday and we loved it. The food and service was amazing at that time. My husband and I went recently on a Sunday and were told it would be a 15 minute wait. Half an hour later the bartender took our order, we thought it would be so we could eat right away when we had our table. 45 min in the bartender brought silverware to the bar. I asked the hostess if a table would be ready anytime soon because we had plans and would have to leave and go somewhere quick if we didn't get our food and a table soon. She finally sat us in a dining room that was crowded with waayyy more tables than last time we were there. It was so loud we could barely hear ourselves talk to each other. The host went to check on our food and then came back to ask if we had ordered mac and cheese (we didn't). We waited another half hour for our food, which was not that great for the price. We originally arrived at 5:45 and didn't get our food until 7. Needless to say we missed our movie. A discount wasn't offered, dessert, nothing. I will never go back. The bartender however, was awesome and the chocolate martini was delicious.
Food is WAY overpriced. Service was less than great. I do not recommend, and won't be coming back. If everything was 25% less expensive and the service was decent, it would have been fine.
Worst cocktail I've ever had. It's hard to screw up a margarita, but holy cow. The duck was so over salted I could barely eat it. His chicken was fantastic, however. The bartender was very friendly and seemed to be multitasking. We were the only two at the bar on a Friday at 730pm.
My wife and I came here for dinner because we received a gift card a few months ago. The atmosphere was probably the best thing of the visit. The jerk chicken sandwich had too much seasoning. The gnocchi poutine was good, but the portion was too small. My wife said her burger was rather dry as well.
I’ve heard so many rave reviews from gluten free foodies about this restaurant so I was excited to try it out for a Lenten fish fry! Unfortunately, I was let down by my experience. I ordered the broiled fish fry expecting the standard lemon pepper or Cajun seasoning so I was very surprised when it came out with a mango sauce as our server did not mention that it was prepared that way. I scraped off the sauce as it was not to my liking and underneath the fish was very well cooked and the asparagus nicely done but a unique dish like this should be explained when you order (it was not on their printed menu). The GF bread rolls were a nice touch but also not impressive in taste. My friend tried the GF fish fry and said all she could taste was salt. I’m also not sure whether we were charged for the rolls or just extra for GF options as we both had an extra $2 charge (which should also be explained). Given the prices charged (over $20 for my fish) and the previous reviews I read, I had higher hopes for this restaurant.
Just got in town, stopped there to use the bathroom. They said bathrooms are for customers only. I can't drink due to medical reasons, so I bought a customer a drink left a $5.00 tip (it cost me almost $10.00 to use their bathroom.) I was still treated like a second class person. For this reason I would never recommend this place. Very mean people there.
My husband and I went to Curlys on a night that wasn't so busy. First off , there was no one to greet us , we had to be standing around for five minutes, the bartender told us someone would be with us shortly ( she could of easily sat us) service was horrible, it took the server ten minutes to greet us. It took another ten for our drinks to be served . My husband and I ordered a simple salad and steak. The steak was over cooked and there was actually a hair in my salad . Our server looked dumb founded , she went and grabbed the "so called manager" , instead of comping our food, the manager gave us drink coupons for the bar. Sad to say the experience wasn't pleasant. We won't be returning . Plus, there are a lot of drunk bumbs hanging out in front of the restaurant . The location is horrible and not a good look for a so called classy restaurant .
Valentines Day 2020 My husband and I had booked a reservation at Curlys for Valentine's Day. We were looking forward to our date all week. Once we were seated, we were greeted by our server Abby. Who then took our drink orders and then proceeded with our order. We had ordered TWO appetizers and each an entree. After 10-15 minutes had passed, a different server came over to our table, asking if the two dishes she had in her hand were our entrees? I responded with, "no, those can not be ours as we have not gotten our two appetizers." The server walked away with the two entrees. A minute later, our server makes a beeline with our entrees and sets them down. I say to her, "we still have not gotten our appetizers," Abby responds with they are coming right out!! I then proceeded to tell her that we did not want to eat our two appetizers with the entrees. She then tells me she can BOX UP the appetizers!! That statement is almost laughable. At this point, I tell her to forget it. She walks away and never once returns to check on how our entrees were. We were saddened by how our experience was and how our server handled the situation. We wanted coffee and dessert and how to do something elsewhere. We did not once see a manager nor was available to let him or her aware of the situation. If you are looking for a relaxing environment and not to feel rushed, Curlys is not the place to go.
my husband and another couple went there last evening - we were not aware there was going to only be a special valentine menu. the prices were extremely high - and the food was mediocre. I ordered a shrimp prawn for an appetizer $17 - and it was still partially frozen - and not cooked at all. its a wonder I did not get sick. I sent it back and they did take it off my bill - but - come one - how hard is it to steam a shrimp? we all agreed - the last time we go there ...
We made reservations and sat in line to get our table for ten minutes. We were seated in the conference area with weird techno music. It sounded like a mix between tribal and techno. It was crazy loud. We had a male waiter who was horrible. I ordered a fish fry. The fish fry comes with macaroni salad. When my food is dropped off there is green beans all over the plate. The waiter goes we ran out of mac salad so the chef gave you green beans. I live in Buffalo and have never seen green beans on a fish fry. The fries were soggy. The fish was burnt inside out and my wife’s beet salad looked like the beets were out of a can. My poor wife was up all night sick!!! I did mention to a manager how horrible the experience was. Nothing taken off the bill. But because of the crazy times I still tipped $20. I was expecting way better food and will never be back because of the green bean incident.
We had reservations for 2/11, we were not informed that they would only be offering a special menu in honor of Valentines day. The prices were extremely high. I ordered the shrimp prawn - $17 - which was raw and still frozen inside. I sent it back and had them take it off the bill. The food was mediocre - 3 of us had the jerk chicken - which came with a "dab" of rice and beans. The fourth had lamb chops which were very heavily coated in black pepper. I enjoyed my drink ( $9) and my dessert. We all agreed - $100 per couple with tip was way too high for food and service that below par and we will not be back.
Absolutely disgusted. This place was recommended by my friend. She eats there regularly, and loves the jerk chicken. After a few bites in, I REALIZED IT WAS RAW AND BLOODY. After telling the Waitress and returning my meal she asked if I wanted anything else, I ended up ordering a salad. I was shocked when we received the bill and the only thing taken off was the chicken! If anything the meal should’ve been complimentary considering my experience!! TERRIBLE CUSTOMER SERVICE!! Here’s to hoping I don’t end up sick in the hospital!
Made a reservation for a special occasion for 730 pm. 830 pm, we are still sitting at the bar with no explanation on why we were told 15 to 20 mins and a hour later we were still waiting. Never have been there and will NEVER return. The bartender asked the manager to come talk to us, and and she never returned. We walked out. Disgusting service and management for such a high end established. Shame on you.
I was in town to visit my daughter for holidays and we decided to go to dinner on New Year's day . Reserved a table at this restaurant got updated to confirm our reservation right up till we got there by Uber . When we got there we found it closed , cost $90.00 in Uber fees . They need to get their reservations software updated to show when there not open . Not acceptable.
The main reason for me writing a poor review of Curley's is their shady business practices. My party of six dined here to celebrate my daughter's graduation from high school. Food & drinks were average, atmosphere was nice, prices a little high. Got our bill, reviewed the items we ordered which were correct, added a 20% gratuity, went on our way. Shame on me for not reviewing the check more closely. Upon reviewing it at home later than night, I saw that the restaurant already added a 20% tip, which means I added an additional 20%. So my tip was 40%. The shady part was that on the check, another line was added for "additional tip". It showed: Amount Included gratuity Total Additional tip Grand total To me this was slipped in there to catch guests off guard. I was there to have a good time and celebrate with my family, not to be deceived by a greedy restaurant. I will not be back. Two lessons learned that night; read your check closely and don't spend your money at shady businesses that look to rip off trusting and unsuspecting guests.
What would you do? Don't recommend if you want to "fine dine" somewhere. Tonight, I went to Curly's for the first time with my parents who have been going for the past few years. I had heard so many good things about it from everyone I know. I went in with my parents and we were seated right away. We sat and waiting 20 minutes for our server to greet us. Our server finally came over and took our drink orders (a diet and a lemonade). It took her about another 15 mins to bring the drinks meanwhile she had already brought wine and other mixed drinks to the surrounding tables. Finally she brought our drinks and we got to order our meals and I ordered the rack of lamb. We ate the Korean wing appetizer which was good. When the meals were brought over, I noticed after she left that my meal did not at all match the description that was on the menu. So I had to flag our server down. Once she came over, I showed her the original description of the meal and said it didn't match so she took my plate back. At this point, our server just disappeared and was gone for 20 minutes. We had no idea if they were remaking the meal or what was going on. My parents finished their meals and she finally came back with another plate. The lamb now had semi-new garnishes, yet still did not match the menu's description. I went to eat the lamb and noticed it was cold and underneath the pile of lamb chops and greens, hidden in the mashed potatoes was the lamb chop I had already taken a bite out of originally. So instead of remaking the meal, they took the meat (that was totally dried up and cold at this point) and just added greens to it (and if anything it shouldn't have taken 20 minutes to do). It was just a bad experience overall with the service and the food. I ended up returning the food and at this point didn't even eat a meal since my parents were done eating. The restaurant took my meal off and gave me a free piece of cake which I didn't even want when they asked if I wanted dessert. After this, my family will probably never return and I will never recommend this place to anyone. I was expecting a better accommodation and a much nicer manager for it being "a high end dining place". 0/5 stars.
What they say is jerk chicken is not jerk chicken. It was one of the worst pieces of what they called jerk chicken I ever had in my life. The food was terrible claims casino were terrible. I never heard of anybody putting Jalapeno peppers in clams casino and the crab cake was awful. I would never recommend this restaurant to anyone.
Great bartenders and drink selection. Food and waitresses awful. Had 730pm reservation. Wasn't seated until 850pm. They blamed customers for lingering. Waitress took food orders from men at table before our ladies. Food was luke warm. Steak and lamb chops tough. Never refilled water glasses. Comped us with potato chips at the bar.
My wife and I had dinner on a Friday night here. The food was good; not great. Prices per item was excessive for the quality. Please read your bill before you pay! The waitress that no longer gets paid minimum wage and receives a 20 percent tip felt entitled to add an additional $2 to the bill as a tip for the cook. The amount of the tip does not concern me, it’s the arrogance and sense of entitlement applied to the bill. The owner should be ashamed of themselves for the practice. Curlys will never see me there again.
We were really looking forward to hosting our family luncheon at Curly’s, but unfortunately the experience fell far short of expectations. After the event, two of my relatives told me they found a long hair in their chicken, and another guest noticed lipstick on her wine glass. For the price we paid, cleanliness and quality should be a basic standard, and this was truly disappointing. Several guests expressed that they would not feel comfortable returning, and based on our experience, I wouldn’t be able to recommend Curly’s for future gatherings or events. It felt like a missed opportunity for what could have been a positive occasion.
