Staff was very friendly and helpful, food was delicious and there was a lot of it!
Great Pub! Finally, hot food and great wings. Crispy and saucy! Staff was friendly, and the place was clean. Will be going more often.
Always a great time with great food. The wings and blue cheese are my favorite in Buffalo!
We had the fish fry and it was delicious, huge piece of haddock, lots of fries, cole slaw and macaroni salad. The waiter was very attentive, great bar atmosphere!
We stopped here on our way to Niagara Falls from Cincinnati because my husband wanted Buffalo wings in Buffalo, NY. This place did not disappoint! Food was great, wings - awesome! Service was great! I don’t know our servers name but he was super nice. I highly recommend!
I only ordered Doc's Burger, which is a good old classic: a solid american hamburger. It's not fireworks, but it's unassumingly magnific.
My friends and I went here last night. The server/bartender was exceptional! He was attentive, and very friendly. The food here is amazing! The nachos are supreme. Update: My husband was eating his left overs and found a huge hair in his food. We probably won't be back any time soon.
Amazing wings and even better service. Smitty style is a must!
Very nice place with AMAZING Cheeseburgers 🍔 Our bartender was friendly, accommodating and helpful.
Came here after work, later in the night. Service was great, charming decor. I'm not too much of a wing person but their wings are a game changer! Hot Smitty extra crispy! Enough to drive from Lancaster just for the wings
The food was really good and the service was great. We went on a Saturday night during a holiday weekend and we're sat immediately.
My medium wings were great. I wouldn’t put this place in my top 5 spots for wings around Buffalo/ western New York, but it does make it in my top 10. I would return.
The food was great, and you get way more, portion wise, than you pay for. We got the nachos and medium smitty wings. The nachos could easily feed a full table. The wings were a great shift from a standard buffalo wing. The sauce was a little milder, though, so if you like heat, definitely get the hot version, at least. The atmosphere was a typical bar setting with a tabletop shuffleboard. The restrooms were clean enough. There was always a bartender around to flag down for what you needed.
Great food! You have to try the Beef-on-Weck wings! All their wings are great! I also had the Beef-on-Weck sandwich and it is done very well! Fries are done just perfect, and they give you a lot of them!
My first time at Sullivan’s was a fantastic experience that truly felt like a home away from home. The food was delicious, and the service was top-notch, making for a relaxing and enjoyable atmosphere. Whether you're there to unwind or catch a game, there’s no shortage of TVs to keep up with your favorite team. I’ll definitely be coming back
We had an amazing experience today at Doc Sullivan. Not only did we enjoy their amazing food and a cold beer, but Erin and all the servers there took exception care of us! We got a flat tire that day and they helped us align the repair. Incredible!! Can’t wait to come back ❤️
Good wings, ordered hot Smitty and beef on weck style. The hot were solid Buffalo wings, the beef on weck were very unique and delicious, reminded me slightly of a Reuben at first. Highly recommend both!
This place was everything I was hoping for in a wing restaurant. The atmosphere was absolutely perfect and so was the service. I ordered the wings hot, which were amazing, but they were pretty mild to me. If you like spicy wings, be sure to order extra hot. My kids ordered from the kids menu and were not disappointed. The chicken fingers were huge, like the size of entire chicken breasts! I would highly recommend Doc Sullivan's to anybody looking to escape the tourist wings in the area.
Cannot recommend highly enough! We visited on a whim while road tripping through New England, and stopped near Buffalo for the night. The nachos were the best we've ever had (listed as an appetizer but easily is enough for a meal... maybe for multiple people depending on your appetite lol) and the smitty wings were sooo worth the hype. Staff were super friendly and willing to answer all our questions to boot. Debating a weekend trip over here solely for an excuse to come back - it would be worth it!!!
Best wings on planet Earth!!!! I drive all the way from West Virginia a couple times a year JUST for your wings bc wings are just nasty anywhere else.... something special is going on here!
Reasonable price, real patrons, and great staff. Awesome place to go if you don't like pretentious nonsense
Awesome! If you're coming to buffalo for food or wings, this the the pace to go! Don't waste your time at Anchor bar, Bar Bill or Duffs, this is the place you want for real Buffalo wings and food!!! 50+ years of living in Buffalo and this place is the real deal!
The wings are large and have a fantastic crisp to them! The Blue cheese is nice and thick. Probably some of the best wings I’ve had. The smitty wings with medium sauce is tasty and not spicy at all. The atmosphere was great, old building and sporty vibes. TV’s everywhere with a great layout. Service = 4 - Waited a long time for food being one table of four at 130pm, not much going on. No refills on drinks and ordering 10 wings seemed like a waste of time for waitress. Overall I would go back to Docs, Kudos to the kitchen staff!
I love going to Doc's. Everything I've had here so far (wings, nachos, burgers, specialty fries, Bloody Mary's) is very good. The staff are pleasant. Variety of seating options with many televisions to watch sports.
Amazing food. Great atmosphere. The waitress was so kind. Kira G was the most amazing waitress we have in Buffalo. We loved this spot.
I had a really good experience at Doc Sullivan’s. The place was slammed but it didn’t stop the bartenders from having a good time and messing with everyone at the bar. Also some of the best wings I’ve had in a minute. Buffalo is known for the “Beef on Weck” and wings. Doc’s had the brilliant idea of pairing the two together. The wings were a perfect size with the perfect ratio of crispiness and wetness. The sauce was super flavorful.
This place is a must when im south Buffalo. The wings are both saucy and crispy, (a rare art form in the arena of wing making.) They get it right. $5 Burgers on Wednesdays are a steal. Bar food is always hot and tasty. Good local pub open late nights tpo!
This is one of my favorite wing spots next to bar bill. Our experience here is always a good one but this review is based just on the takeout I got today. My fiancé and I ordered 10 Murph wings and tried a new one the Forty sauce. The forty sauce is a tangy sweet bbq. Not really spicy but very flavorful. The Murph wings are really what you go for. It’s a medium wing sauce base but there’s so much more going on. It makes the wings feel thick and heavy but not soggy. Great texture, great crisp. A little bit of garlic and something else going on for sure. The wings are large and crispy. Just a great go to wing place. Doc Sullivan’s itself is just a great south buffalo bar & grill. Lots of seating with unique options to accommodate groups of all sizes. They’re always so nice there at least when I’ve went. It’s a little “dive-bar” dark in there but in a good way. Large U shaped bar area with lots of seating and plenty of TVs to watch whatever game might be on. Can’t recommend this place enough. I’d say they’re in my top 5 places in Buffalo to go grab some wings and either chill there with some beers or for takeout either way. Street parking only though, nothing they can do about that of course. If it’s busy, and cold, It can be tricky to find a spot to park without having to walk 5 min to the entrance. Only a very minor, unavoidable downside
The place for wings! So delicious. Great selection of beers. This has been my go- to place when I need wings. You will love. Friendly service. You will leave with a full stomach.
First time at this establishment. The experience was fantastic. Pleasant people, fantastic food and great beer selection. The wings were fantastic, crispy and large. Their custom sauce is fantastic, not too hot but just enough heat and super delicious. This is the place to go for wings, blew away any of the common wing joints. Burgers are large and super juicy and flavorful. This will be my new go to place. Try it, you won't be disappointed..
Took my wife here for the first time for her birthday. We were very happy with our experience. Wife had the beef on weck it was like butter, so tender and flavorful, I had the friend bologna sandwich it was delicious. We ordered some wings and this was the jackpot, southie gold and murphy style, hooya they were good. Service was good, restaurant was welcoming.
One of the loudest restaurants I've ever been to but the food was so good that it didn't matter. Is go again in a heartbeat. Food was incredible. Wings were super large and tasty. My party of 3 were all incredibly happy!
- the burgers are great, I also Recomend the wings. - the beers on tap are varied and theres definitely something for everyone. - they have darts to play as well as a shuffle board. - the place does seem to be more suited for regular conversation and hanging out though.
Doc Sullivans has the South Buffalo feel the moment you step in the door. The service is great. Their team is friendly and always provides perfect menu advice. We go for the wings which are cooked to perfection without asking for extra crispy (in Buffalo, IYKYK). All of the wing flavors are tasty, but if I had to pick my favorites, you can't go wrong with Southie Gold, Murphs, and Smitty's.
A cool bar with great wings! Of the many wing places I've tried, these sauces were the most flavorful. Southie Gold was my favorite, never had a wing like it! The Smitty Style Hot and Forty Gold were very nice as well! Wings themselves were great quality. I was glad they have a 15 wing combo where you can get three different sauces. It's worth trying a few different kinds!
Man what can I say, the food there was excellent the service that was excellent had a burger and fries the burger just tastes like a burger that you would make make at home the only thing that I didn't really care for was the blue cheese I love blue cheese by I didn't like. The service there was solid the people there were phenomenal and if you're in the Boston area and you want good wings go to this place and not the other place I won't say the name but I will just say the wings were supposedly where what we know as buffalo wings were founded. Go to doc Sullivan's for great wings in Buffalo
Friends came in from the capital district area to experience what this great city of Buffalo has to showcase for chicken wings. Went to six places back to back to back etc… in one day. The atmosphere is great. The staff was amazing. Per a recommendation from a patron at Gene McCarthy’s to get the “smitty” wing here we took their suggestion. The wings were juicy. Crispy. Tender. The flavor of the smitty is unlike any other. It had a cumin kinda flavor vibe going. I wasn’t a fan of it. It definitely was interesting. I’m sure people love it. I’ll have to go back for medium. Blue cheese was standard. I will be going back to try a different flavor.
Finally decided to try this Buffalo icon and I was not impressed. There was a bad aftertaste in the wings that couldn't figure out what it was until a regular told me that they used peanut oil and it could be that. I got the try summer special where you have to pick three flavors of wings. I went with mild medium and spicy garlic. The blue cheese was missing chunks of blue cheese. The only star of the show was a friendly staff. The service and I must say mozzarella sticks were fantastic. Major cheese pull....
We tried the Jamaican Jerk wings for the first time and now I can't wait to go back and get them again! Perfect flavor and heat. The Cajun Honey were also very good but they are hotter than expected and just not as delightful as the Jerk.
Fun local spot. We were on the road cross country staying a night in a nearby highway hotel. Drove into the town area and stopped in hoping for some kind faces. Kind of late on a Sunday evening. Happy place full of friendly regulars having a good time drinking around the bar. Seating tables around the perimeter of a pretty big room. Very comfortable. Bartenders welcoming, double duty waiting tables and right on top of things. Food was tasty, very good quality pub fare. Service prompt, professional, friendly. Drinks perfectly potent. We'd go back. Probably be regulars if we lived there.
Very busy bar/restaurant, be ready to wait a bit. But service very friendly, food good bar style
Local area bar/tavern. Went to try their wings. The wings were good, not great, with a hint of Jamaican spice added to the sauce. Confusing where to go to pick up my order since the order was phoned in. I did feel that I was being ignored by the three bartenders. I finally had to stop one from helping a group of other patrons that just walked in. She did finally assist me. Parking was street only.
Good food and service. Tried a few flavors of chicken wings, and few apps with a large group of people. Really good service the whole time but menu was a little too pricey overall asking for $17 per 10 wings and $7 or $8 for a draft beer. A lot of competitors in the area so unsure why they'd price themselves out
Like beef on weck? Like chicken wings? Then you must try their Beef on Weck Chicken Wings! Seriously it is a thing and it tastes exactly like it says. If not your jam and more of a classic hot wing fellow, try out their signature Smitty Wing. Definitely my favorite. Their wings are crispy and sauces are flavorful. Definitely up there with competitors Duffs, Anchor Bar, or dare I say... Barbill!?
On a wing Tour we visited this place. Played a little shuffle board. This place is a great bar. Great atmosphere, fast efficient servers and I bet this kitchen does NOT shut down like their competition down the road —.>peoples choice nine-one-one wing destination at 9:30??? I HIGHLY recommend the SOUTHIE GOLD amazing flavour.
Excellent food drinks and waitstaff! Kitchen was remarkably slow despite not a ton of people eating (40-45min wait for food, ordered around 830pm).
Came here with a coworker. Had a really nice lunch. I loved their wings, fries were good. Did not like the Bleu cheese at all. But the wings were really good. Had the regular hot wings, and the golden BBQ. They were both incredible. Not my absolute favorite in Buffalo but instantly one of the top 10. Just the right amount of delicious sauces and still nice and crispy, plump, and juicy. Will definitely be back here.
A recent afternoon visit to Doc Sullivan’s proved to be exactly what a neighborhood pub should be. Walking into the pub, we were immediately struck by its warm, welcoming vibe. The space feels comfortable and lived-in without being worn. We were lucky enough to grab a table in the front bay window, which offered a great view of both the barroom activity and the street outside — perfect for relaxed people-watching. The main reason for our visit was simple: to see if the draft Guinness lived up to the glowing reviews we had read. I’m happy to report it did not disappoint — poured properly and tasting fresh, just as it should. The food matched the quality of the pint. I started with the French onion soup, which featured a rich, beefy broth loaded with soft, flavorful onions and topped with a generous layer of perfectly melted cheese. It was comforting and well executed. Next came the “Smitty Style” wings — an unexpected highlight of the afternoon. The Smitty sauce had a great balance of flavor, and the wings were cooked crispy exactly as requested. Paired with an excellent blue cheese dip, this is a dish I would absolutely order again. I finished with a Reuben sandwich stacked with a healthy portion of corned beef. It was hearty, satisfying, and a fitting end to a very enjoyable meal. All in all, this visit confirmed why Doc Sullivan’s has earned its reputation. Between the welcoming atmosphere, fresh Guinness, and well-prepared food, I’m already looking forward to my next visit.
It was a nice Irish style kind of bar/restaurant. It was very roomy and comfortable. It's a bonus that they have TVs to watch sports! Good place to hang out for that. The waiter was friendly and made sure our needs are met. As for food, the wings are real good. The fries is ok, could had been more crisper but does not stop us from enjoying our lunch there. Definitely won't mind coming back.
My wife and I went here on a Friday. We started with Hamburg Irish Red Ale to start. The beer was very delicious. We then had bacon ranch corn street dip. The dip with chips was very good. The portion was enough to serve 4 people. Please note that this dip is only on the summer menu. I had the fish fry with fries. The fish meat was very tasty but too much for one person. I should've ordered a half serving lol. The fish fry is only served on Fridays. My wife had the Black and Bleu burger. It was cooked to her request and the burger was the right size. The atmosphere is very relaxing and perfect for unwinding with groups of friends and/or family. And it's perfect for watching sports like local teams like the Buffalo Bills and/or the Buffalo Sabres.
Stopped in for an early dinner, It wasn't overly busy and we were seated right away. There were 5 of us. Food overall was average. •2 ordered the PB&J Bacon burger. 1 burger looked great, had a good portion of the jam, etc. The other burger was almost dry. •2 of us ordered appetizer-type food. Mozzarella sticks served with flavorless cold marinara sauce and Poutine fries, most of the fries were overcooked and hard. •5th person ordered a BLT which the bread was so toasted it was rock hard, cutting into his mouth with each bite. The service was horrible. The waitress brought one of our party the wrong beer. The rest of us sat with empty glasses because she never came back to check on our table even though she walked by our table at least 2 dozen times each time avoiding eye contact and ignoring our attempts to get her attention to get refills. She would walk right past our table to help the table next to ours or through the doorway behind us which I assume led to the kitchen. Would we go back...Mixed feelings on that. The food that was made right, tasted great(unfortunately only 1 of 5 had no issues with meal) the service on the other hand was basic at best. No one received a refill on their drinks nor anything else that was needed.
Our party of 6 stopped in for an early dinner. Our Aunt who is in a wheel chair had to be hoisted up the front stoop to roll into the Restaurant. We were offered a ramp but were told it would take some time to set it up so we opted to carry her in her wheel chair up and over the stoop. Our waitress was very nice. Once we were seated at our table she took our order in a timely fashion. The Cheese Curd appetizer was crunchy with soft yummy cheese inside. The Fried Baloney Sandwich came without the correct cheese, the Chop Salad with Pepperonchini salad dressing was inedible due to the huge amount of Pepperonchini topping the salad with the additional salad dressing; however, the vegetables were fresh. All other items, Tri-Chicken Wings and Beef on Weck with French Fries were good. We would definitely return for Beef on Weck and the Chicken Wings. The Chopped Salad would be good without so many Pepperonchini slices!
A neighborhood standard, Docs is a quintessential Irish townie bar. I went for the wings since they are highly touted. I asked for the spicy BBQ which in my experience is always a tomato based sauce. I received a medium hot sauce style wing, which was good, just not what I expected. The wings were huge, beautifully presented and hot. The blue cheese dressing was the thickest I've had in Buffalo and was very good. This is not a place you go for dinner, this is a place where you go to drink, eat wings and pal about with your friends.
Eh disappointing experience.. Bartender wouldn't acknowledge me because she was putting an order into the system. When I called to order food, they said there were no tom/onions and had coleslaw on the sandwich- All of which was incorrect compared to what I received. Ordered Jerk Chicken Sandwich and fries- Sandwich was tasty but had no other dressing on the sandwich - No mayo or aioli and no coleslaw just tomato and onion which I stated I didnt want. Used the restroom and almost stuck to the floor. My friends say the like the place but my experience was meh.. Looks great from outside, much different on the inside. $17 for a tiny piece of chicken and fries.
We usually enjoy visiting here but the last time we came, the service was horrible! One girl working the bar and the entire restaraunt. Our appetizer (chips and queso) was cold. Had to ask to get it reheated. Bartender was on her phone not paying attention so one of our family members went up to the kitchen window to grab our queso after they reheated it cause it was sitting there🙄She didn’t supply us plates or silverware until after our lunch arrived. Service was a Little better after our food arrived but with a bad start we didn’t leave pleased. It’s not hard to go above and beyond and give a little customer service! We won’t be back during the daytime!
Overall it's worth a visit. The wings were delicious. We tried mild, beef on weck, and garlic parmesan. The beef on weck flavored wings were a pleasant surprise. The mild had a little kick and some smokey flavour. Garlic parm were buttery and sweet, and the size of the wings were great. I'd give the wings 4 stars, the reason for the 3 is the overcooked fish. Although huge and looked amazing the batter tasted burnt which could be from overcooking it or old oil. Fries could be McCain's but the side of slaw and macaroni salad were actually decent.
It was fine. The wait staff seemed to not section out very well, and had multiple people at the bar. Our waiter was not inattentive or rude, but we were there for about an hour and a half to two hours and he checked on us 3 times. The food was decent. Tried mild smitty wings, they just didn’t have much stand out flavor but they were hot at juicy which is good. We both got a burger. The burger patty was cooked perfectly, the bun was just cold unfortunately. The atmosphere wasn’t good or bad honestly, just normal. If everything were a dollar or two cheaper, it’d probably get a full 4 stars from us.
The burgers and fries are very good. The draft beer was warm. The beer battered fish tasted like it was fried in industrial cleaner. Seriously! The fish tasted like it was fried in restroom hand soap! It is a shame this place is selling itself as an Irish pub. Someone in charge needs to visit Dublin!
Not sure if the chef was new or it was all the waitress but the place was slow and our food took a loooong time and came out slowly. No communication from the waitress. Delivered to us with no silverware. Blue cheese dip is sour cream based. Not a fan. The wings were good and the Beef on Weck was great. So food gets 4/5 stars but service was a 1.
The water was horrible, so we decided to switch to lemonade and that to was bad. Burger was fair would have been better if the bun wasn't cold and maybe grilled/ toasted. Wings were fair... But the homemade Blue Cheese dressing.... 🔥🔥🔥 It gives me a Irish sour cream feel. It was great with the fries. We came for the beef on weck, but they were out of it 😞. The Bar itself looks fun and I'm sure it's exciting during football season.
Food was mid. Got tenders and fries were cold and tender quality a decent B tier. Labatt on tap was flat, but the hockey vibes are cool.
If I could give zero stars, I would. We waited over an hour and a half for our order—just 30 chicken wings—only to be told that the kitchen lost our ticket and that there was no food for us at all. The worst part? Our waitress was beyond rude, dismissing our concerns and insisting that all orders were taking over an hour, as if that somehow made it okay. Meanwhile, she walked around vaping inside the restaurant—completely unprofessional. To make matters worse, we watched a steady stream of takeout orders go out the door while the dine-in customers were left waiting endlessly. It was clear that they prioritize online and pickup orders over the people actually sitting in their restaurant. Absolutely unacceptable service, and we will never be back. If you value your time and basic respect as a customer, go anywhere else.
Flies in the dining area ! Had to keep swiping them away from table. Appearance of food sloppy - ordered a beef sandwich - meat was not even sliced to bun size it was hanging out on all side - did not eat - lacked seasoning as well.
Not family friendly, even on Sunday at 1p. Average wings. Rude staff. Above average flies. The buffalo wings did not meet the hype. Old oil aftertaste. The beef on weck wings were pretty good - really interesting combo of horseradish and caraway. That made the visit tolerable. Otherwise, the place had the worst service I have received in over a decade. Rude, careless. Environment was terrible and I had to spent half my time killing flies to avoid ruining my dish. Get the order to-go.
Food was good..but 15 wing trio and summer specials were not available even though they are advertised online still..very disappointed as I wanted to try more than one wing flavor as I have never seen there before..and even still a few days after they are still advertising their summer specials and wing trio on their website..very unprofessional! And will think twice about visiting again UPDATE: BEEN WEEKS NOW AND STILL THE SUMMER SPECIALS ARE STILL ADVERTISED ON THEIR WEBSITE!!! UPDATE YOUR WEBSITE! IF YOU ARE GOING TO CHANGE YOUR SPECIALS AND CHANGE YOUR MENU..THEN UPDATE IT!!! VERY UNPROFESSIONAL
Terrible. If you are going to charge exorbitant price for wings, they better be good. They were small, chewy, and nothing special whatsoever. I have had better wings elsewhere on 10 cent wing night. WAY overrated. And your supposed “home made blue cheese” is a joke, there is nothing “blue cheese” about it, there IS NO blue cheese in it. Be honest with your customers and just say “we serve sour cream with our wings so don’t expect much”. Can’t imagine why people like this place.will never go back.
Unfortunately, after a terrible experience last time, I told myself we wouldn’t return, but decided to give it another chance. Big mistake. We waited 45 minutes for our food, and when it finally came out, it wasn’t even our full order. The smashburger and quesadilla were served without the fries, which defeats the entire point of ordering them as part of a meal. The fries took so long that we had already finished eating before they arrived. The quesadilla came with sour cream that was so cold and solid it couldn’t be spread without a knife (or literally forcing it out with your finger). I understand sour cream needs refrigeration, but serving it that way ruins the quality of the food, who eats a quesadilla with no usable sour cream? Meanwhile, three men were seated after us, ordered wings, and received their food in a timely manner before we even got our complete meal. Fries eventually came out and were fine, but by then it didn’t matter. Service was awful, and I honestly didn’t want to tip. It genuinely felt like guests who were drinking received better service, while we were ignored because we weren’t ordering alcohol. Atmosphere was just okay. It’s Buffalo, it’s cold, but the seating area was uncomfortably freezing, making it unenjoyable to even sit there. It almost felt intentional, like another push for people to drink. Overall, extremely disappointing. Won’t be back.
It’s good to see a business with such bad food and service thrive. Go figure. Rueben was extremely salty. The wings delivered barely warm. Waited 50 minutes for food after ordering , and some people at are table had an additional 5 minute wait. The staff doesn’t care at all.
