The sausage and fennel mezzemaniche is hands down one of the best pasta dishes I've had in NYC and in my life in general.
We had the most wonderful experience last night. The food ( chicken parm and lasagna) were the best! Service was very good. The hostess was very friendly and accommodating. We will be back!
Took out of town guests here and it was a home run. (you know how it is trying to take non-NY'ers out to eat...its a minefield)...Le Zie is a definitive NYC neighborhood Italian joint ... service and food were exceptional and the house cabernet... someone send me a case please :). Thank you for a memorable evening.
My fiance and I wandered around and found Le Zie. This is one of the best places I have eaten. It is small but makes better pasta than a lot of big restaurants. I don't know what the other critiques ate but we came here for dinner and immediately knew we would come back for lunch the next day. Now every weekend we come back to NYC we will come here at least once.
Rigatoni and truffle Mac n cheese are our go-to, and the panda cotta is amazing. Have been ordering from here for years and it’s always very good. I actually think the mac n cheese is easily the best I’ve ever had.
Chic atmosphere. Restaurant in front, cool bar in the back (separate). Theor chicken picatta and mashed potatoes are very flavourful. My friends always enjoy their food when the visit. 10 out of 10 for flavor, portion, and service.
Great outdoors seating, super attentive service and delicious food. My brunch pasta (pancetta, spinach & egg) was perfect, my friend loved her avocado toast. Looking forward to visiting again.
I love this place. The menu is thorough and the pasta is delicious. Had linguine with clams, completely perfect. The salads were really good too. Bread was fresh (and free!) which was fun.
My husband and I dropped our daughter and a friend off at MSG to see a concert and decided to take a walk down 7th. We saw Le Zie from across the street, thought it looked cute and decided to give it a try. Boy, am I glad we did! We had a delicious and cold glass of Pinot Grigio and each of us enjoyed a pasta dish. He had the Orecchiette with broccoli rabe and sausage - so good! I decided to go with the linguini with clam sauce and OMG! It was one of the best I've ever had. Pasta was fresh, an abundant amount of clams and the sauce was delicious. I told my husband I would make a special trip into the city just for this dish! Owners super nice, waiter excellent and very attentive. The place is adorable and the food and service spectacular!
I've been eating here often since I moved into the neighborhood in 2010. The food is excellent, specials are interesting and great, staff is friendly and attentive. We've never been disappointed.
Came in not expecting too much, but everything we ordered was great! Had chicken liver, octopus and scallops. Will be back for sure!
$1 oysters and $7 champagne Happy Hour?!! I was on my way to the train and this deal stopped me in my tracks. They kindly took my luggage and stored it away for me so I could take a seat at the bar. I feel quite lucky I found this charming, classy place on my last night visiting NYC.
Excellent Italian food by a place that's been in the same location for some 20 years -- owner often onsite, a good sign. Lunchtime fixed price lunches are great value too! Highly recommended!
We were a party of 7. We all sat together against the back wall. The food was delicious. I had a simple Rigatoni Bolognese. We had two bottles of wine and the bill was in the mid 7's.
Was extremely pleased. The owner's wife was amazing. The whole staff was carrying and attentive. And the food was outstanding would highly recommend.
We've been coming here 15+ years, which is hard to believe. Hadn't been for awhile and this past Thursday had a late lunch on a whim. Still such a gem which made us so happy! Everything is fresh & delicious. Places come and go in NYC, esp now, and everything about this place still impresses without trying too hard.
We ate here twice during this year’s stay in New York. Food and service excellent. ‘Nuff said.’
One of the best meals we enjoyed during our 5-Day visit to NYC. Serving sizes are easily large enough to split, even the salad.
This local Italian place always offers good specials to the addition of their regular fair. Not to mention the great bartenders that will take good care of you throughout the night. Great local place for any night of the week but do sit in the bar as that's where all the fun is.
I love this restaurant- wonderful staff - especially Oscar. I highly recommend the calamari to start and the branzino as a main. The Primitivo wine is excellent. I look forward to returning and having something new.
A gift to this neighborhood, this cozy restaurant has been a favorite with us for several years, both delivery and in-house. The food is delicious and the service excellent. In addition, I recently discovered how thoughtful they are to their customers. I left something valuable to me in a shopping bag under my table and spent several hours anxiously waiting for the place to reopen the next day. Not only did they keep it safe they even called the store on the shopping bag to try to track me down. The experience makes me love it even more❤️
Great spot for our private luncheon. Space in back accommodated our boisterous gathering. Staff was attentive and pleasant with all the movement. Good was excellent and reasonable especially for a NY price fix.
Very cool neighborhood spot with great staff and versatile menu. They were extremely accommodating of my 2 year old son, and the brunch menu was awesome. Highly recommend it you are in the area, it’s 2x better than Jack’s Wife Frieda that typically has a line out the door
I have loved this restaurant for many years. It never fails to satisfy my family of food and wine lovers. There are different parts to this restaurant and you can find your favorite. Ours varies according to the season and our mood. We had a beautiful salad of wild mushrooms, lot’s of the pasta’s including their delicious lasagna. I had their calves liver and our friend enjoyed the mussels. The flourless chocolate cake was amazing and nut free.
Everything you want in a neighborhood Italian joint. Cozy, eccentric clientele, good service, great food. Normally neighborhood Italian joints check the first 3 boxes but not the 4th. We had a great meal featuring the chicken parm and spinach ricotta tortelli. They also have an awesome cocktail bar connected to the dining area. Be back soon!
Really solid food here. You can tell they not only because the food and the service is amazing but because the owner(who also happens to have his picture painting having on the nails dining room wall) is always hanging around and lot of the time is helping out. I heard from some Italians friends I have that usually Italians do not eat spaghetti and meatballs in the same plate. However, is there is a time where you want to break the spaghetti and meatball tule is here. They offer an spaghetti and chicken meatball bowl that is to die for. If I am not mistaken they only serve it in Mondays. And is Devine. The grilled branzino is also very delicious, also the penne with mozzarella and eggplant. I am not big on dessert of the tiramisu it’s delicious, they also offer a nice selection of sorbeti. You can cannot wrong with your choice at this restaurant. Towards the back of the room there is a small bar that also serves the entire menu and bar snacks. It’s really a cute neighborhood spot. Overall a great place to grab a nice meal.
Le Zie is a gem! Fantastic Italian food - the classic lasagna was superb. Cozy vibe, great service. Will definitely be back!
We went early on a Friday to beat the weekend rush so it was very quiet and the wait staff was very attentive. We had several items, including the beet salad, whipped ricotta and honey, linguini w/clams, and penne in spicy tomato sauce. Everything was delicious and plentiful! I would definitely pay them another visit next time I'm in town!
We dined early and had a very pleasant experience. Of importance to me is the noise level. This is not a noisy restaurant tg. Good all around.
Excellent cozy Italian restaurant for grown-ups. Friendly, great food, no obnoxious music. Not quiet, but that’s because there is lots of chat and laughter. Near The Joyce and the Irish Rep. Perfect for pre-theater. And for after dinner drinks and deserts.
Atmosphere was cozy, music was great, staff were incredibly attentive. Got the duck confit with saffron risotto and it was amazing, but then had the tiramisu for dessert which knocked it out of the park. I don’t normally leave reviews but this was so good!!
My family has been coming to Le Zie for 15+ years and it never disappoints. You are always greeted at the door by the owners and the service is great. The dishes are always fresh and perfectly cooked. For starters we love the Baked Goat Cheese and Calamari. For your main I recommend the freshly made pasta. Either the classic Spaghetti & Meatballs or the Brown Butter Asparagus Tortellini. Enjoy!
I took my friend here for her birthday recently and she absolutely loved it. The portions are pretty big, so we shared a lasagna plate. Tiramisu is one of the best I've ever had. We went on a Sunday night at around 8pm and it wasn't crowded at all. Love the atmosphere -- very cozy and intimate. Location is in a great area, too.
We ate at Le Zie this Saturday, before a performance at the Joyce Theater. We've been going to the Joyce Theater for decades, but the restaurants that we favored, such as Miss Ruby's, are long gone. With Le Zie, we've again found a restaurant we can look forward to. The food, service, and wine list were all excellent. One of us had calf's liver (it's a Venetian restaurant), the other a pappardelle special. Both were terrific, as was the octopus appetizer.
The hands of time favor those who cook good food slowly. Was here when it opened in late 90s, returned to find the quality of the homemade pasta has not changed.
The Lamb Shank at Le Zie is the best I’ve ever had. I’ve gone for years and I’ve always liked the food but this summer I tried the lamb shank and have been going every Sunday night. My friend joined me for dinner a couple Sunday’s ago. He orders the steak and said it was one of the the best steaks he’s ever had. The staff is amazing and is really a neighborhood favorite.
Went to dinner last night, great ambiance. Italian spot but give the branzino a try, very very good. Will be back!
I absolutely loved this place. They have a lovely outdoor, covered area to sit with beautiful flowers hanging down. The food is spectacular. Some of the best pasta and risotto I've ever had. The pasta is fresh, made in house. The dishes are delicious and hearty without being too rich and heavy. This has easily become one of my favorite spots in NYC.
Before coming to NYC, I explored many places online from reviews and photos. Le Zie seemed the most up my alley. Approachable, more relaxed food and environment. They had a duck ravioli on their “specials” menu that was truly the greatest thing I’ve ever eaten in my entire life. I can’t stress enough how good it was. I let my three friends try a bite, and they each were nearly brought to tears by it. All of their meals were phenomenal as well, from the veal, to the salmon, to a carbonara. We paired it with a great Malbec and had a perfect meal. I couldn’t possibly recommend any place in the whole of the city more than Le Zie.
Love this place! Amazing food and fantastic service! The baked goat-cheese appetizer is fantastic. Lightest gnocchi we've ever had. Wonderful spinach tortelli. Decadent deserts- in the past I've had a raspberry soufle, this time got the mango souffle w raspberry sorbet. We once had a group of 18. They were super accommodating- they didn't make us do a reduced menu, they didn't make us book it as an event (like many other restaurants would have made us do). Wonderful experience every time! So delicious! Been coming here for years and love it Every time!
I live a couple of blocks away and have been here twice in the last month. Served by Ethan B both times and he was professional, friendly and efficient.
I live in the same block, so I tried almost every restaurant around ( Loulou , Elmo, Momoya , westville and others ). By far this is the best out there quality, authentic and price wise compared to others The grilled goat cheese nailed it, and my grilled Bronzino was one of the best I ever tried I was shocked reading some comments regarding the price, donno where those people are living honestly, the prices were reasonable and their lunch specials unbeatable $26 for 2 courses, that brought me back for 3rd time, enjoyed the food and the kind service Before hurting businesses with your harsh comments, think twice This place deserves a shout out,
Great! We didn't know what to expect. The back room was pleasant and NOT loud like so many of these restaurants in the area are. It was comfortable and the menu had plenty of choices. The food was excellent! Service was very good and dessert was delicious. We've been out a lot lately because our apartment is undergoing renovations and Le Zie is a wonderful place to go! thank you
To start off, this place has two different sections (much to my surprise). We sat on the 7th Avenue side. Anyhow, let's get into it: 1. Ambiance: the place is so quaint. It was so wonderful to walk into a place that wasn't too loud. It let me hear my wife. The music was 80s vibe that night. The color of the place was calming. The lighting at the right level. The seating definitely comfortable! Service: from the moment we walked in we never felt ignored. We were always attended to. If it wasn't our waiter it was the maitre d! The never let our bread, water, or beverage go empty. They checked on us and how the food was. Food: from bread to appetizer to entree to dessert we were impressed and left happy and full. I get angry when my food isn't worth the bill. We got our money's worth and more. Go here. Sit down. Connect with the one you're with over food. Leave happy. You won't be sorry you came here.
Food was cooked to perfection, everyone was friendly and quick to clear tables; you feel well taken care of. I’ve been in restaurants all my life and Le Zie is great in all aspects of dining. I’ve been in NYC for 4 days and this was by far the best I’ve been to. They employ young workers. We were sat right away with no reservation. 5 stars all the way.
My favorite restaurant in New York. Excellent drinks and service. Food is always consistently very good. It is always very quiet, music is kept very low dining rooms well insulated from noise. The sidebar is lively and very cozy and pleasant.
I was craving pasta so I popped in... I have thought of that meal every day since. It was the most amazing pasta. The service was quick and the price point was fantastic for the area! 12/10 recommend.
The missus said her salad was one of the best she’s ever had. We enjoyed all of our entrees, and they happily made modifications for a couple of our picky children. Service was top notch. And, it was quiet despite being full: our party of eight had an enjoyable conversation at relatively normal speaking levels. Will come again!
Took a chance on this place when on a business trip to Chelsea. Food was amazing! Had the eggplant rollatini and it was to die for. The branzino was also scrumptious. The table shared the kale salad which was delicious. Loved the house chardonnay. Portions were absolutely enormous we couldn't finish everything and had enough for lunch the next day. I come to Manhattan frequently and haven't seen portions this big anywhere. Service was prompt and the restaurant was quiet with good spacing between tables. (I hate the loud, overpacked places!) I highly recommend this place if you're in Chelsea!
Amazing food. Best spaghetti and meatballs in Manhattan was what caught my eye, and heck yeah it didn't disappoint. Pasta was fresh and handmade, cooked perfectly. Wine was great, atmosphere was fun but still cozy. Highly recommend.
We had dinner at Le Zie while visiting New York and cannot say enough about the service, food, or ambiance. I called ahead to find out if a menu item would work for our picky eater and the woman who answered the phone went to the kitchen to ensure that her answer was correct. When we walked in, the space felt intimate and welcoming and then … just kept going. We were seated on the third floor but the service was still superb. Our server was friendly and accommodating, the food and wine were delicious, and there was a staff member posted nearby to ensure that our water glasses stayed full and that we had everything we needed. The roasted half chicken (which does include a breast, if you’re wondering) was tender and well seasoned, as were the chicken piccata and braised short ribs. If you are in Chelsea and looking for a luscious Italian meal look no further.
Lunch Prix fixe menu is an insane deal. Amazing food. Eggplant parm and calamari with fried zucchini are particularly amazing. About $50 for three courses and wine will leave you incredibly satisfied
We were here on vacation trip and were looking for an Italian style restaurant. We found this one on the advice of a different waiter we talked to. We ordered our food and it came out quickly. The food was good and had a good taste. I ordered the chicken parmigiana. The service was excellent. If you are in New York City I highly recommend this restaurant. The reason I gave only 4 stars on the atmosphere is the lighting was a little to dim for my liking. All in all it was a good meal.
Good Italian places like this are distinguished by the high quality of their tomato sauces and pasta. The dishes here were fragrant and herby, the sauce fresh and full of natural flavour, and the pasta had perfect texture. For our lunch for two, the quiet restaurant atmosphere was ideal for conversations while we nibbled on the complimentary bread, olives garlic, and olive oil dip. We enjoyed some Aperol and Campari drink mixes before our orders arrived. We recommend the two course set menu as it was great value for money. For starters, both the Eggplant Parmigiana and Baked Goat Cheese were memorable for the fresh fragrant tomato taste and different cheeses. For mains, the Rigatoni was deliciously put together and the Branzino (fish) was tender in the fillet and crispy on the skin. If you are in the Chelsea neighbourhood and after something a bit nice but in a comfortable and casual setting, this is the place for you.
Warm décor, delicious food, and fabulous staff. They were so sweet and promptly brought us our food. We ordered the fried calamari & zucchini chips to start, chicken parmesano, chicken meatball dish, and truffle mac and cheese. We finished with the tiramisu, Cioccolatissimo, and Crème Brûlée. It's rare to find a place where every dish is enjoyable. The Crème Brûlée was my favorite. It was so smooth! Best tiramisu I've had in quite some time. The flavors and textures were well balanced. This is one of those rare places where every dish was exceptional and we didn't experience a long wait for anything. We also weren't bombarded with plates and overlapping dishes/courses. Every course had impeccable timing and was the perfect temperature. For instance, we just finished the last chip in the starter and table was cleared for the sizzling mac and cheese that we heard making it's way from the kitchen. I appreciate the attention to detail. In other restaurants, I hate waiting too long because I feel like I'm going to be there all night and I can't stand being rushed so staff can flip the table. They made us feel welcome but it seems they understood that we don't live there lol. My favorite part is being allowed to rest our food after this culinary experience! It wasn't difficult to ask for the check and they brought us our bags the moment we stood up without us asking. Reminds me of the quality of service I grew up with experiencing on Mulberry street in the 90s. Comfortable, delicious, genuinely warm/welcoming, and easy going but attentive. I didn't think I'd encounter the quality of service we received in this place. Not that I doubted them specifically! Lol. It's just so rare to have a pleasant experience from beginning to end. The décor definitely adds to that 90s NYC vibe but it's part of its charm. So that's a plus, for me. Nostalgic but not completely outdated. The entire staff collaborated very well together to tend to every table. I was advised to reserve a table but I'm not sure we needed to because we dined early at 6pm. But the reservation didn't hurt. If you eat the way we did, be prepared to spend a pretty penny if you visit with a party of 4+ even if no one drinks. For the quality of food, I find it pretty affordable if your group just gets one dish each because times are hard. In this economy? Sometimes we have to make sacrifices lol. But if you can hack it, try as many dishes as you can possibly afford lol. Great wine selections, also! A huge thank you to the staff at Le Zie for making my mother's 69th birthday dinner a memorable one. I hope to be back soon for the Chicken Liver Pâté Crostini and Yellowfin Tuna Ravioli!
Came here for dinner at 7:30pm on a Friday night and the restaurant was at capacity. You would most likely need a reservation here for peek dinner times. The food and wine selection were extensive and we liked the quality of the food. The restaurant was a bit on the louder side and the atmosphere wasn’t very intimate, which makes it better for group dinners and less so for date nights
Delicious italian restaurant in Chelsea. The back room has a more intimate dining experience with a neighborhood feel. Baked goat cheese was a tasty appetizer. The fish dishes and fresh pasta dishes are excellent. Extensive wine list as well.
Once again really good options done very well
The food was excellent for a very homely Italian, not the cheapest around but flavorsome. The starters had a high price but actually very sizable. You could easily share the melon and prosciutto for example. The chicken parm was excellent but over $30. the lasagna was pretty good too. The environment is great, white table clothes and great service, the venue has it sown lounge too at the back and accessible from the side street. overall a good evening. good if you want to do fancy Italian.
Solid Italian Cuisine. In particular, I liked the linguine with white clam sauce. The portions are a little small (for Italian). The decor is classy, but the patrons were dressed casually. Price: $15 - $25 Overall: A- Frequency: Occasionally Last Visited/Updated: 2009
The food was delectable, the chicken liver pate, and the veal liver with polenta, the ambience relaxing, and I learned from my dinner companion that it existed for years and survived the pandemic. One of the bathroom walls is painted in a rich wine color. The service was appropriate and unobtrusive, who possessed a competent knowledge of the restaurant's wine list.
A great local dining experience in Chelsea. An atmosphere that inspires romance and bromance. And their takeaway is Swift and accurate if you want to bring there delightful Italian cuisine home. Their lasagna is unique, exceptional, and one of my favorites
Great Italian food and cocktails. Don't dismiss the spaghetti and meatballs, which my son loves, but many other higher end dishes as well. A great neighborhood restaurant in a part of Chelsea that has few.
My party of two was seated at an outside table along a side of the restaurant opposite a bike rack. Weather was perfect and I could converse with my friend just fine. He had the scallops and polenta dish and I had the pear salad. Both were excellent. I ranked the service a little lower because it was frustrating to get a waiter's attention initially....but once the waiter took the order, service flowed smoothly.
This is a great date spot to impress someone, just as it is a great meetup spot with friends. I've been going here for (at least) 10 years. The food is STILL just as delicious today as it was back then. I absolutely love the atmosphere, coupled with all the tasty dishes. Pricing has gone up, slightly, obviously. But its still very reasonable, in my opinion. I wonder if the back and upstairs portion of the restaurant have been re-opened yet.
Let’s start on a positive note. We had great service and loved the eggplant rollatini and the sardine special. Really different and delicious. The crab cakes were good, not great. Too much filling. Service was very attentive and well orchestrated. What caught us off guard is when we arrived for a 6:15 reservation and the place was hardly full. The hostess initially sat us way it the back, alone in a dark room without windows. We immediately ask to be seated in the front dining room and were accommodated with a sweet corner table. But the attitude!! Made us feel uncomfortable instead of appreciated and set us off a bit. Nothing a glass of wine couldn’t solve. This should never happen and a warning to the management.
Really nice experience. We had three staters and desset ad the food is good! Ok wine - we had wine by the glass but they should pour it at the table …. Just sale good order.
Stopped by recently for a late lunch when we were back in Chelsea after an absence of many years. There were only a few other tables occupied in their sunny front dining room and the service was efficient. They offer a good value three-course set menu with several choices, although we did not find their wine prices a good value. The eggplant parm was better than the goat cheese in tomato sauce (which is literally just a globe of cheese in a plate of sauce!), but both the grilled branzino and rigatoni alla Bolognese, long house standards, were properly executed lunch-size portions. The Panna Cotta was still good, but the miniature tiramisu wasn't the best value. The big disappointment was that they served stale bread that had clearly been cut the night before and left sitting around. It comes with nice oil for dipping, but although we recognized the owner who came and went twice while we were there without stopping to look around, clearly unlike a couple of decades ago when we were regulars, the kitchen was on automatic. So, still worth a stop if you're in the area, but we won't make a special trip to return. For old time's sake we'll round up to 4*.
Several options to choose from, including daily specials. The pesto was really good. Others had the Mac and Cheese because it had truffles and they really liked it. The portions were just right (not small or big). The bread was a nice touch too. They have a painting from Madonna which is quite nice / funny.
Cute Italian restaurant, small open atmosphere. Restaurant was suggested by someone we met at a bar in Times Square...a resident on Madison Ave. It was a great suggestion. Had dinner and we enjoyed our food. I had the lasagne and a glass if wine. I really enjoyed the lasagne and my friend enjoyed her dish as well which was the pappadelle with lamb ragu. And the service was good as well. Glad we went.
We visited this cozy and quiet Italian restaurant for a weekend lunch. It’s the perfect place to have a conversation without the music or noise drowning out your voices. They were playing soothing Italian music in the background. As a complementary welcome dish, we were given sourdough with garlic confit and olives. We picked the three course prix fixe lunch menu - which is very reasonable priced for the location, portion sizes and quality of food. We tried the eggplant parmigiana and baked goat cheese for appetizers, spicy pasta and chicken paillard for main course, and tiramisu and tartufo for dessert. All the dishes were delicious and filled us up. If I could be nit-picky, the chicken was slightly rubbery/dry but did not stop me from savoring the course.
We went for lunch. It was fine. Tricolore salad could use a slight updating as the slice of bacon could have been better presented, and maybe a bit more cheese. The truffle mac and cheese wasn't particularly flavorful. Service was fine. A bit overpriced for lunch.
The branzino was delicious and the presentation was amazing but everything else "eh" at best. We had someone that needed handicap accessibility and the way they wanted to seat us just had no common sense. The waitress had a an attitude the whole time and was only nice when it came time to pay the bill and we had to wait an incredulous amount of time for our food to come out. And the food was salty. Needless to say I just don't think we'll come back.
We had dinner here on a Saturday night at peak dining hour. We ordered the cutting board, duck ravioli, gnocchi, maple sprouts, apple strudel, and ricotta cheesecake. Unfortunately we found every course extremely underwhelming for the price point. The meats were fresh on the cutting board but needed some cheese to balance it. Our pastas were bland compared to other NYC Italian. Maple sprouts had a sharp vinegar taste, could not taste any maple. Desserts were decent, but no wow factor. The wine, however, was nicely priced by the bottle. In addition to the food’s mediocrity, the entre took about an hour to come out.
I had dinner with my friends today, the food was nice, and service was good at first, but at the end of the dinner they wanted us to leave, so they gave us the bill without asking, in a really bad manner. It felt a bit direct and rude. We would appreciate it better, if the staff would inform us about the closing time. Other then that, service was at first good, they were really attentive, the staff always made sure there was water in the glass, but it just didn’t have a great ending.
I came here because of the great reviews but the food, at least the food I ordered, was average at best. I've eaten Italian food at some of the best restaurants in New York, New Jersey including Italy itself and although this restaurant is a favorite to some, it's just okay. Nonetheless, the staff was absolutely great, the restaurant is kept in very good repair and the atmosphere is comfortable.
The food was pretty average, maybe below average given the price. We shared the charcuterie board, the arancini and two of the specials. The charcuterie board was the best part of the meal. The remainder was on the bland side and didn’t really hit, especially at the price point
My experience here was suboptimal. An 8:30pm reservation should be allowed to have a fine dining experience. By 9:50pm, near the end of our meal, the entire restaurant, from our server to the front desk, to all of the other staff, started to clean up and remove glasses from other tables and store them in the area next to our table. It was clear that everyone wears to be other restaurant by 10 PM and it made our end of our meal extremely uncomfortable. I am so shocked and upset about how I was made to feel to leave the restaurant. It’s a shame because the food is good, but everything else about this restaurant is made to make the customers feel unwelcome. Shocking.
Overpriced is an understatement for this restaurant... We chose this restaurant for our 18th anniversary dinner, for 2 reasons.. one, we wanted to try out a new restaurant and two, it was close to the Joyce Theater which was our next destination. The people and staff were friendly and warm BUT DON'T EVER ORDER THE 'DAY BOAT SCALLOPS'. I wish I had taken a photo of the dish when it was served. There were 3 (THREE) small pieces of scallops with a sauce on top. And, this is a $38 dish!!!!! Scallops are expensive, I know, cause I cook them at home from time to time. But, 3 pieces of scallops with sauce for $38? Mind blowing! That really put us in a bad mood! We finished dinner quickly and left the restaurant and went to another cafe to have a drink because we still had some time before the show at The Joyce. The show did lift up our spirits! Anyway, just wanted to put this out there for those who read reviews to make a decision...I don't know how the other dishes are, quantitywise and qualitywise, if you do go to this restaurant don't order the scallops. Hope this will save you some money and you will not end up leaving the restaurant still hungry!!
The food was lovely but the service left much to be desired. We came in late, but had three meals and wine. We order the same thing - very easy! But the waiting staff managed to treat us as if we were massively inconveniencing them. They shoved the bill at us twice and hurried our plates away after hovering. We left at 10:15. Not super late by by standard. Would not recommend.
Our first night in nyc, we ate here, my daughter and I both had the same main course, and both got food poisoning. Spent the next 24 hours throwing up and feeling awful. It can’t be a coincidence That we both had same meal and were both horribly sick afterwards. Otherwise I felt the service was rushed and it was very over priced ( 25 dollars for a calamari starter )
I've been a fan of this place for 15 years. I've sent a lot of people there. Tonight, the server/bartender had to summon the owner to not charge me for an overly cooked, dry lasagna that I'd been dreaming about all week. I even spoke to the owner in Italian what he doesn't know is that that too cool for school bartender make me uncomfortable like I was te problem it's a same because this was once a neighborhood staple. Now I can't wait to forget it
The restaurant was nearly empty when I arrived — just one guest seated, while three staff members stood around on their phones. The environment felt cold and inattentive. The European host didn’t offer a greeting or show any warmth. When I asked if they had scallops, she simply said she didn’t know, without offering to check. Given the price point of the menu, I expected at least a smile, a warm welcome, and basic familiarity with the offerings. I ended up just ordering a salad. The lack of hospitality really set the tone for the visit.
