We were in NY for a family event and wanted to try and Italian restaurant in the neighborhood that I grew up in. I researched the reviews of Trattoria L'incontro and decided to try. Oh my, what an exceptional dining experience. Authentic Italian food that is simply the best . Greeted warmly for our reservation and seated. Our Waiter and owner helped us select a wine from Tuscany and described the specials which were extensive. Decided to go with the squash blossom appetizer which was like how I grew up, a special fig salad and pasta as our main course. Absolutely amazing !! My wife and I said it could be the best Italian meal we have ever had including in Italy. Highly recommend !
I had an amazing birthday dinner at L'incontro by Rocco. Our reservation was for 5pm on a Tuesday (the new normal for dining with an 11 month old!) and we had the restaurant to ourselves! The service was amazing, they were fabulous with our baby, and our waiter Guillermo was fantastic. The food was delicious - we had the ricotta toast and stuffed artichokes to start - delish. The Caesar salad was very light and crisp, and the chicken parmesan and the oxtail parpadelle were great. Oh, and a cannoli with a candle for dessert! The decor inside was beautiful as well!
If you’re looking for delicious Italian in the upper east side you must get a reservation at L’incontro by Rocoo! Food was full of flavor, portions were nice, and the staff were lovely! Love the ambience! Make sure you get the Midollo - Grilled bone marrow served with frisee and crumble parmigiano with beef tartar ,musto and mango puree.
L’incontro by Rocco is, without question, one of the finest dining experiences in New York. From the moment we walked in, the service was nothing short of exceptional. The staff is attentive, polished, and genuinely passionate about hospitality. Every recommendation was thoughtful, every detail handled with care, and the timing of each course was flawless. You feel truly welcomed here, not rushed, not overlooked, but genuinely taken care of. The food is outstanding. Each dish is beautifully prepared, full of depth and authenticity, and executed at an extremely high level. The flavors are rich, balanced, and memorable. It is clear that every plate reflects experience, precision, and pride in the craft. Rocco himself sets the tone for the entire experience. His presence, warmth, and attention to guests elevates the restaurant to another level. You can feel the culture, leadership, and excellence that flows from the top through the entire team. L’incontro is not just a meal, it is an experience. Impeccable service, world class Italian cuisine, and a team that truly cares about delivering perfection. Highly recommend. A true New York gem.
First time here, although we live in the neighborhood. The dining room was so festive for the holidays. It was beautifully lit and lively. The service was quick and courteous. I had the baked clams and the tuna tartar; my husband had the Cesar salad and the Osso Bucco pasta. All fresh and yum. We shared a cannoli for dessert which was outstanding. Definitely will be back.
Service was amazing! Food is phenomenal! We took a quick trip to NYC and decided to celebrate our anniversary here after some friends recommended it. They were fully booked, but I called right when they opened and they were able to squeeze us in for an early dinner, which worked out perfectly but I highly recommend making a reservation if you can. We met Chef Rocco as soon as we walked in and he was super friendly and welcoming. Our waiter was great too and really knew the menu. He walked us through all the specials. Not pictured because I forgot are the arugula salad and the raviolo we also had, which were so good. Honestly, this ended up being one of our favorite meals in the city. 10/10, we’re definitely coming back.
6 of us had dinner here tonight and what an incredible experience. The atmosphere was beautiful, the service , impeccable and the food outstanding ! I already told 4 other people they need to eat here. Every appetizer , every main course was expertly prepared even the manager , Carlos came over to check on us twice , what incredible service
L’incontro by Rocco is a true gem for anyone who understands how to appreciate authentic Italian cuisine. Right when you step inside this warm and cozy place, you are surrounded by a ton of people and staffs but make sure you make reservations beforehand. Chef Rocco’s dedication to traditional techniques and high quality ingredients can be tasted and seen in every dish especially the pasta. Made from scratch with expert precision, the pasta has that perfect texture and richness that I honestly have to say, better than grandma’s. Beyond the pasta, the menu consists of many traditional Italian dishes such as meatballs, baked clams, salads, rack of lamb, chicken parm, and much more. Come try L’incontro by Rocco if you crave for some authentic and tasty Italian food!
From the moment we walked into L’incontro by Rocco, we felt transported. The ambiance is stunning, the service impeccable, and the food? Bellissimo! I had been craving a perfect plate of spaghetti, and their Spaghettone Nduja was beyond incredible. The house-made pasta was perfectly al dente, with a rich, spicy nduja sauce, creamy burrata foam, and tender shrimp—an absolute standout. The tuna tartare was just as delightful, fresh, and beautifully balanced. The GM was exceptionally welcoming, and Chef Rocco himself stopped by our table—gracious, humble, and passionate. To top it off, he treated us to dolci e cocktail, a gesture that made the evening even more special. A perfect dining experience—chef’s kiss! We’ll definitely be back.
Fabulous food, staff was incredibly attentive, and the chef came out to speak to every table individually. The portions were okay, not particularly large but very appetising. The bread was fantastic and the spread with it was as well. Although we made a reservation we were required to wait an additional 10 minutes. Overall good experience though and the Christmas decoration was beautiful
I came here last night with two of my friends and we were very impressed with the customer service here. I've always seen this place, but never stopped in but I've been craving authentic Italian food. We made reservations for 5:30p which was clutch because after 6:15p on a Saturday this place was packed! To start the customer service was phenomenal and I was impressed with how the waiters remember all the specials because there were so many. They also checked on our table often to see if there was anything we needed. Now for the food, they have a Flatbread that comes with a red sauce to start which is very appetizing. We got the fig salad which was perfect to start along with the steamed clams. For my entree I got the Ravioli and I'm glad I did. Overall this meal was so satisfying that of course I wanted more. Happy most of all with the service. Thanks for having us and thanks for an amazing 1st time experience at your restaurant. I'll definitely come back soon.
Trattoria is a neighborhood gem and a stalwart that is just right to celebrate special occasions. My husband and I have always had delightful experiences dining there. Impressive service (it’s impressive how the staff remembers and recites the menus and specials!), delectable dishes and lovely environment. Their homemade pastas are fantastic. Go for their wine recommendations and you will not be disappointed!

Good not great. Hard to describe the vibe. The decor was very cool, and modern. The service was very good, not exceptional. Service and tone is what you would expect from an old school Italian restaurant. Food was good old school Italian. Good because everything is home made, not boxed. Dishes themselves weren’t especially creative. Most of the crowd was 45 or older, so not a young restaurant.
We walked in and the server was able to reserve a 9pm reservation for two (we only had to kill 45 mins). Came back at 9, and unfortunately the table was not available and we had to wait until 9:30 to get seated (there were several reviews about longer than promised time so be aware). The food service was quite good! Very prompt waiters and their pasta was amazing. Gnocchi has an amazing bouncy texture, and chicken parm size is MASSIVE. We had left overs and took home!
I used to love their Astoria restaurant. I'd been going there for over 15 years. This is the first time I've been new L’lncontro since they moved to Manhattan and everything has changed. Compared to Astoria, the restaurant is smaller and uncomfortable with many tables crammed into a small space, and the delicious freshly baked bread had been replaced by mediocre bread. One of my favorites, the lobster salad, was as delicious as ever, but Branzino had changed from a simple yummy grill to a tomato sauce flavor. Napoleon used to be filled with banana cream but now replaced with lemon cream. No more strawberries on top. Too bad, because for the past 15 years this has been my #1 favorite restaurant in NYC. It's changed from what it used to be, but it's definitely still at a high level.
L'Incontro is a wonderful, upscale addition to the UES. The menu is interesting and diverse and I can't wait to go back again to try dishes we didn't get to this evening. \n\nFor appetizers we had …
Food and service were excellent. If not for the excessive wait time I would have probably given them five stars.

Horrible experience. I came there during a snow storm. I called earlier and asked their hours to make sure that they would be open they said that they close at 10:30. I wasted my time and money going here because when I got there, they said that they are closed even though they still had people seated and having drinks and food. They said that they are closed because of the snowstorm. Meanwhile, every other restaurant is open and they told me a couple hours ago that they close at 10:30 PM. I would not recommend anyone to go here. I usually go to more upscale restaurants, but I was going to give them a chance, big mistake on my part. I ended up going to a much nicer restaurant. Waste of time stay away. They should go back to queens if a little snow scares them.
