Great food and friendly staff. Love the octopus appetizer. The steak on a stone is great for the entrée and they have a variety of cocktails. It's a bit on the pricier side though.
My entire experience was enjoyable. Quiet atmosphere, great service, and mouthwatering-good food.
Family run restaurant with great food and great service.
the sangria is on point.
Nice place to eat outside on any beautiful evening. The best place to appreciate the square from.
We went last night for our anniversary we made a reservation, we didn't need it. When we arrived we were seated and given ice water, it took about 20 minutes for our server to come over and take our drink orders, after receiving our drinks we ordered the empenades for our app. You get two decent size empenades they were plated beautifully. They could have used more chirozo and less beef but they were still very good. After another 20 minutes we ordered our entrees I orders the marinated NY strip, while my husband ordered the scallops. The steak was cooked perfectly and was excellent the pork belly mac and cheese was also excellent. My husband's scallops were cooked well but it only came with 4 and it was served with corn. For $32 I would expect a better side then just corn. Our waitress never stopped to see if we needed anything one of the other staff members came and refilled my drink for me. All and all the food was excellent but our server was terrible. They weren't busy at all each server had 1 table and they had 5 servers on so I expected better service then what we recieved.
Went there with family for my birthday. Food was average. Their Paella is heavy on the rice but lacks sufficient (any?) saffron. Rice portions were plentiful but the few clams were tiny and linguica almost non-existent; just one paper-thin sliver in the entire order and it had been cooked long before, being gray rather than a paprika red. Don't recall any pimientos, This may be a trendy "upscale" i.e. pricey restaurant, but it lacks any semblance of true Portuguese cuisine on which I was raised. If they removed the awful fake "artwork" it would be a big improvement. Larry Moniz
Used to love it, having dropped almost $2,000 in 2013. Now it is under new ownership and has gone downhill. Not worth the price anymore since every costs the same (or more) but they removed the value/quality from the offerings. Awesome bread and oil? Replaced by microwaved rolls and butter. Large PA and regional beer selection? Nerfed. Large drink menu? Nerfed. Dishes you loved? Gone. It is like they don't want our money anymore - there is nothing left for me to spend it on. Such a shame. Great chef who has his hands tied. Same goes with the "better" servers who have to put on a straight face and try to sell you on the changes they probably don't agree with either. Changes made by the new owners - who by the way had zero prior restaurant experience (it's on their website) and had to feel like they did something. Running an auto dealership and real estate agency does not give you the golden touch of King Midas.
Our waiter was nice but seemed new. Our meal took forever! Don't think they were prepared for the crowd, considering it was restaurant week! People that came in after us got their food before us. One of us got a stone for our steak that was not even hot. Very disappointed!!!
Thank you for ruining my mother's day plans. After waiting 20mins to be seated for my reservation we waited for another 45 minutes for the waiter to tell us were out of almost the whole menu..... If you like having holidays ruined by horrible customer service, long waits and zero food options this is the restaurant for you.
Christmas Eve dinner....what a disappointment. To begin with, they seated us right next to the room with the french doors. So for the first half of our meal, we had to deal with the staff going in and out, and the only customers sitting inside the doors disrupted our dinner to close the door. There was a musty smell in the corner where I was seated. Next, the cosmopolitan was made with muddled lime, which I did not like nor was I told beforehand that they made their cosmos with muddled lime. In all the years I have ordered cosmos, not once was muddled lime used. It was awful and I sent it back. The replacement was not much better. My husband requested a single malt scotch Manhattan and got a Maker's Mark. The time between our appetizers and main meal was extremely long and the entrees did not come out at the same time. The paella and scallops were exceptionally salty. My son's burger was very greasy. On a positive note, my husband's steak on a stone was delicious.
I was excited to try Valenca based on their appearance. Very nice exterior, beautiful tables, bar, and decor. My husband and myself sat at the bar as we were wanted to keep tabs on the basketball playing on the TV. My excitement was quickly dashed after waiting 15 minutes for the bartender to approach us as he was busy flirting with a gentleman at the other end of the bar. I was hoping the food would be worth the wait. I started with a Margherita pizza as an appetizer to share with my husband. After waiting 30 more minutes our pizza was presented by the bartender. It was luke warm at best, and beginning to harden, clearly not fresh out of the oven. We picked at one piece each and couldn't eat more. I risked trying the Picadinho for dinner and my husband tried the grilled salmon. What a mistake this place was! Again, we waited over 30 minutes for our dinner. The bartender never spoke to us once while we waited. My water was empty and my husband sat with an empty beer glass the entire wait. My Picadinho, like the pizza, was luke warm. My husbands salmon was thankfully fully cooked. Believing it was safe to eat, he described the flavor as "bland, dry, and distasteful". At this point we'd had enough. We each had about a third of our food and left. I've never been so disappointed by a restaurant. I suggest staying clear of Valenca. The worst dining experience of my life.
