Absolutely fantastic! I’d highly recommend The Northumberland Arms to anyone. A wonderful selection of food and drinks AND its dog friendly. I’ve attached a copy of the menu from a recent visit for anyone interested. The food was served promptly and it’s a great portion size, with the food being perfectly cooked and full of flavour. The staff were brilliant throughout and very accommodating also. I never used the hotel, just the restaurant however based on this alone I give a five star review. I’m quite a fussy Easter however this is genuinely the best fish and chips I’ve ever had. Others in my party tried different meals and I’m told the burger was phenomenal too. Safe to say we were all very impressed by the service and the quality of the food! Thank you for having us.

I visited for an impromptu lunch yesterday....I wish I'd missed out on breakfast before hand as I was unable to finish what I can only describe as the most delicious Lamb Pie, I had a piping hot bowl of leak and potato soup to start, which was delicious, then onto the Lamb shoulder pie served with a generous pot of the most delicious roast potato's and Gravy that could rival my mothers!! which I would highly recommend (the lovely and very attentive waiting staff allowed me to put what I couldn't eat into a takeaway box) that was a lovely touch. I was leaving room as I wanted to sample the dessert menu, and again, it was superb Pistachio and Amalfi lemon cake. Again, I would highly recommend this. The price was exactly what I would have expected and very good value. I stayed for a drink unfortunately it had to be a shandy as I was driving but there was an wide selection, I can't comment on the accommodation as I haven't stayed there yet which means I suppose I'll have to return and soak up what was a very warm and friendly atmosphere, I'm looking forward to a very comfy night in a beautiful setting, if you're ever driving up the A1 and you feel tired and hungry head for this place you will thank me I'm sure.

Just back from a relaxing and rejuvenating stay away in the North East. We stayed at the lovely Northumberland Arms in Felton. Originally a Coaching Inn built by Hugh Percy, 3rd Duke of Northumberland, in the 1820s, it’s now a brilliant cosy pub with a great drinks selection. There are also some gorgeous rooms to stay in. Ours had a super comfy gigantic bed and some quirky bathing facilities. I know I’m biased having grown up in Newcastle but I think Northumberland and the North East coast is one of the best places in the UK. We took a day trip out to Bamburgh stopping off briefly in Alnmouth to grab a crab sandwich from Scott’s deli. We had dinner both nights in the Northumberland arms and it was exceptional. I had one of the best pork chops of my life and my wife had a delicious pasta dish. The portion sizes were huge. The next day we had the Sunday roast and it may be one of the best ones I’ve had out ever! I couldn’t fault anything about our stay and would very much recommend it if you looking for some time away

Absolutley stunning place, our room was a bit over priced for what we got, yes it was nice but we didn't get anything extra like a bath or robes or just something, however breakfast was included and that absolutley blew me away, we got fruit salad (fresh), toast but not just any toast it was sour dough toast! then came the brekky we had prordered the day before and then cereals, juices, and as much tea and coffee you could shake a wonky stick at! if anything is would return just for the breakfast alone, dont know who there chef is but he is amazing, really lovely owner, but for a 5star place I expected a little bit more from the room than what we got but never the less we had a lovely anniversary, so thank you to the northumberland arms 😊

Went for Sunday dinner and didn't disappoint. Managed to get an early evening booking on the day. Wonderful food and excellent service. Slight wait but it was busy so understandable.

Was in desperate need of a roast dinner so thought we’d give The Northumberland Arms a try and we weren’t disappointed. The staff were all so lovely, from our interaction on the phone, to being so attentive and welcoming when we arrived. We booked a table in the bar and took our dog, with us. It was incredibly dog friendly, and on arrival we were given water for the dog as well as treats. I went for the leek and potato soup to start and can genuinely say I’ve never tasted anything so delicious. For our dinner we both had the roasted lamb leg, it was beautifully cooked and all of the vegetables were packed with flavour. We also ordered the cauliflower cheese as a side and I’m so glad we did. Overall, a fantastic experience. Will definitely be back!

I wanted a nice walking base for a couple of days after New Year. We'd had lunch here in the past so I knew the food was good. I love this place. Great feel to it — we were in the bar on New Year's Day and it was raucous, loud and fun. Great team of people working there, good food and a super room. Good value for what it offers. Thank you.

We had a fantastic meal here. We visited on steak night and although fairly expensive it was delicious. Great atmosphere. What impressed us the most was how they dealt with an allergy. I was presented with a menu showing exactly what I could eat. The service was brilliant.

I don’t often leave reviews, but this was honestly some of the nicest food I’ve had in a long time. We had the chicken and potato starters, followed by the pie for mains. Every dish felt elevated with thoughtful little touches that showed the chefs really care. Based on our meal, I can’t see how anyone could give their food anything less than a 5.

Booked for lunch with family, one being of lesser mobility. Access was excellent from the road up a long ramp to the entrance with easy access to toilets. Then it got better, the staff were welcoming and friendly all the way through. The food was outstanding, especially the slow cooked lamb shoulder pie. The best pie and chips I've ever had, thank you chef.

Just had a fantastic meal at the Northumberland Arms. Great service and very accommodating to me, my wife, our baby and our dog. Lamb Shoulder Pie was amazing and the wife had the cauliflower and cheese pie which she loved. Thanks - we will definitely be back!

We went for a meal on Thursday evening with some friends and I cannot praise this place enough. I had the lamb pie which was sensational and my husband had the cauliflower cheese pie which was equally delicious! Although we were full, we couldn’t resist sharing a piece the pistachio & amalfi lemon cake with rhubarb sorbet which was out of this world! The waiting staff were very friendly and professional and we all really enjoyed ourselves. Thank you!

Weren’t hotel guests but went for Sunday lunch. We both had 2 of the best roast dinners we’ve ever eaten - 1 beef, 1 lamb. Couldn’t fault the food at all - perfectly cooked, hot, great portion size. Service was excellent, really friendly staff, and the place was super cozy. 10/10 for us!

M

Had the best meal we’ve ever eaten. The staff were 10/10 - relaxed paced meal, with the comfiest seating possible! The food was 10/10, with innovative replacement meals for the things they had run out of! Everything local to area which was amazing to sample, and blown away by vegetarian choice. Could not recommend tis highly enough.

Unable to comment on the rooms available as we only came for the food. Very easy to book a table online, lovely building, clean tidy and inviting with parking available. The staff were warm and welcoming, very efficient and friendly. The food was amazing ! I had the gluten free fish and chips and it was the best I have had ! My husband had the pie on offer and said it was equally amazing and one of the best he has eaten. We would highly recommend this restaurant and can't wait to be back in the area to eat (and hopefully stay!) again.

Had yet another excellent Sunday Lunch at the Northumberland Arms, Felton. We always visit when in the area on Holiday. The restaurant is always warm and inviting, and is dog friendly as well. The Roast Beef and Roast Lamb that we had were cooked to perfection, the mash potato one of the best I've ever had, and along with the super tasty cauliflower cheese and delicious fresh vegetables, made this a memorable meal. Would throughly recommend a visit here if in the area.5* all round👍

We went for food so can’t comment on the rooms. We expected regular old pub food but were totally wrong. The food was outstanding and the service was just as good.

Fantastic Sunday lunch, it was delicious, good quality food and everything was perfectly cooked and seasoned. It is the best Sunday lunch we have tried in Northumberland and what a good roast should be like. Really nice atmosphere, well decorated pub, and great customer service. We tried the beef, lamb and vegetarian options with a lovely cheesy cauliflower cheese. Highly recommend.

Just stayed here for a birthday night away where my partner had booked us into the new Moor tower room and it was beautiful, this is a place of pure luxury, rest and relaxation due to the amazing staff and their wonderful manager who are always so helpful and nice they go above and beyond to help all their guests and their dogs. The food was so gorgeous and the desserts were delicious, then to top it off our room was so posh with a huge comfy bed and a humongous fantastic bath in the bedroom which is a must. We are already planning on returning here and I will be telling anyone and everyone about this amazing place. Thank you all for making my birthday treat even better. Xxx

Great food and accommodation! Second time here for food, first time for accommodation. Varied menu. Himalayan salt aged sirloin was a special, and delicious. Chips are really crispy. Monkfish special was also really tasty, with lots of little touches that made it special. Breakfast menu also very varied, including a vegan hash. Room was very comfortable. Ringtons tea and coffee bags, and biscuits. Spacious powerful shower.

My wife and I had a meal in the Northumberland Arms and it was by far the nicest meal we have ever had. Everything about our visit was exceptional from the service, the attention to detail, the presentation and of course the meal itself. We were both blown away by the flavours and presentation. We will be visiting the Northumberland Arms again Thank you

I went with a friend, we were looking for somewhere to stop after a walk on a beach. We had a coffee & a apple & berry crumble with ice cream & custard, it was lovely. The portions where big enough but so tasty. It was the perfect end to a lovely day.

Had Sunday lunch here with the family. Firstly big thank you to our server Will who was excellent. He made us feel very welcome and was always nearby to help out with any requests we had. The 3 course meal was very, very good. There was a slight issue with one of the first courses but it was dealt with very quickly by the team. We had our dog with us and she very much enjoyed her 3 course doggo lunch too! Lovely environment and beautiful setting. Would absolutely recommend.

Great food and interior. Service terrible, no class from the young women who lqckwd any direction. Huddled together looking bored and now etiquette

The best Sunday Lunch I have ever had with the tastiest veg and well seasoned Chicken... Great atmosphere, friendly, and very attentive staff who were looking after everyone. Price was right and will definitely visit again when I am in Northumberland. Thanks so much, a must visit if you are in the area on a Sunday, you won't regret it.

My goodness, the food here is astounding! The steak was the best we’ve had anywhere in England and the chips were divine! Couldn’t get enough of them. We ate here by accident because our hotel lost power thanks to Storm Eowyn and couldn’t provide food, but we have bookmarked this place to stay next time we come to Northumberland because the rooms look gorgeous. Highly recommended!

Our first visit to Northumberland Arms definitely won't be the last. We went early evening so it was quite empty but it gradually filled up, so would advise booking. The meals were very tasty and well presented, good portion sizes. Prices were very reasonable1. Definitely recommend.

We decided to call in here after reading positive reviews. It's a bit more upmarket than places I usually visit but not pretentious. We had Sunday roast which was delicious. Service was a cut above too - friendly and efficient. If I had a negative I'd say that I was expecting my 3 meat platter to have a lot more meat on than my other half's beef dinner considering the difference in cost, but it was only slightly bigger. Wouldn't stop me going back again and recommending it to friends. Thanks very much 😋

We went here today for Sunday lunch to celebrate our 34th wedding anniversary. It was a delight from start to finish. Very friendly and professional welcome. Classy and comfortable bar/restaurant. Food was excellent. Fantastic produce, well cooked and beautifully served. Service was top notch. Plenty of staff and all smart and very professional. We thoroughly enjoyed our and will visit again.

Booked in for an evening meal with our dogs. Sat in the conservatory which was clean tidy, spacious and well set out for Xmas. The food was exceptional, cooked to perfection and well presented. The staff were attentive and friendly without being obtrusive and the service was timely with the dogs courses arriving with ours. Could not be faulted - a great evening out at a reasonable price.

Today I brought my elderly Mother & small dog in for a Sunday Roast. From start to finish, every little detail from the decor to the doggie dinner & the food was simply AMAZING. You should be so proud of yourselves in your amazing place. Thank you so much for making us feel so at home & welcome. Can not wait to return.

Stopped over for one night before visiting Alnwick. Room was fantastic with a view over the river Coquet and very comfortable. All members of staff were very friendly and welcoming, especially the lady who checked us in and showed us to our room. Had dinner down in the bar, taking advantage of the Wednesday steak night. Brilliant food and offered gluten free options for myself. Breakfast in the morning was included with the room and again was very good. The chef even popped his head out the kitchen to say good morning and to ask how we enjoyed what he had cooked. Definitely would stay again if I'm visiting the area.

A very cute gastropub with lovely staff and a great menu. I’m giving it 4/5 because the burger meat was a bit rubbery and honestly not the best, but everything else was really good.

A
Average Joe

Went for Sunday lunch today starter and main course were outstanding pudding (jam roll poly with custard) needs to be twice the size and served hot with lashings of custard or taken off the menu, what I got was a miserable little piece of pudding, cold with a few spoons of coagulated custard and having paid £210 for my lunch I take exception to being told that I have fifteen minutes to eat up and vacate my table because it is needed for the next customer.

T
The Wojmeister

Had a super lunch in the dog friendly area adjacent to the bar. Superb service. Water bowls provided for our dogs. Human and doggy menus available. Good service and food lovely and fresh. Car park opposite. Recommended.

This is a very beautiful place. The staff were friendly, but the service was slow. Although it was busy to be fair. The Sunday lunch was just a little over average, while some plates in our party had missing items. The portions of veg and meats were small and would have all fitted into the large accompanying Yorkshire pudding. I thought he price was a little high for what we paid until I arrived home and found I had been overcharged for what I received.

After having our wedding in August at the Northumberland Arms we decided to go back for a meal on Christmas eve evening. We booked a table for 7.30pm. Upon arrival we were shown to our table and asked if we wanted a drink, I asked for a pint of bitter to which the waitress didn't know what I meant so I had to go to bar bar myself. After ordering one I was told they had run out of that beer so had to opt for another. Choosing our main courses off the Christmas fair menu we were also told that they had run out of the two meat choices, at 7.30! So we had to have meat pie and chips for our Christmas meal and 🤨 once we got the bill we found that they had put someone else drinks on, we queried it and a new bill come £15 cheaper. How disappointed we were such a lovely place can ruin their reputation in such a short time, purely for bad management organisation and lack of planning.

C
Carla Almeda

They offer a doggie menu which includes food dogs can’t eat since they are poisonous and can cause their death. Gravy has onion and garlic and the sausages have leek. This is extremely irresponsible. It is clear they only offer dog menu for marketing purposes and not because they actually care about their customers’ dogs.

V
Vanessa Robshaw

Vegetarian meal was pathetic. Had a starter made into a main meal. It was just cherry tomatoes, 5 salad leaves, 4 small pieces of goats cheese and a rye bread ( broken in 4) and a sliced red onion . And it cost £19!! Never again!!!
