Happy we stopped in. If I lived in the neighborhood I would frequent this place more often. Cash only, No frills kind of place. We ordered the BBQ Ribs with Fries and 1/2 Chicken with pork fried rice. Extra green sauce recommended. RIBS were meaty and flavorful👍👍👍 CHICKEN was moist and flavorful 👍👍👍 FRIED RICE was average but good GREEN SAUCE was delicious! 🤤
Outstanding. This establishment is a perfect embodiment of a simple place that serves incredible food. Forget about the fancy chairs, seats and decor...none of that here (the wall tapestry is actually amazing...though)... It's food packed with intelligent flavor, genuine spirit and love. Nothing more, nothing less. I'd go here any day over the millions of 'fancy' restaurants that look great, but have absolutely no soul, are generously rude to customers and serve insipid food. Do yourself a favor and take the train, car, whatever you need to do...to get here!
I've been going to this restaurant for 20 yrs. The food is always delicious. I usually get a combination of fry rice, pork ribs & and a quarter of dark chicken. They have a green sauce that you pour a top of the chicken, and you can't stop eating that chicken. This restaurant has always been more expensive than your local Chinese restaurant, but the food tastes a lot better.
Damn, someone let cat out of the bag to on social media and this is no longer as much of a “hidden” gem as it was. Still a gem, still the best ribs, still amazing deals. No frills, great food.
Got 1.5 chicken with pork fried rice along with 2 2oz sauce. Their sauce is legendary. chicken skin was super salty in some bites, but the awesome sauce were more than enough to compensate the saltiness in some bites. Definitely willing to try their ribs and their other sides next time. Take into consideration that you might have to wait in line after ordering, waited around 15mins even though I went at an off time (4PM) on a super rainy day.
Very busy restaurant, rotisserie chicken is very delicious and moist. Always a long line of customer getting the rotisserie chicken. Not much of a eat in restaurant more like a take out. Food is very good
The best rotisserie in all of New York! Been coming here since I was little. I always come with my family. Their chicken is so delicious. Must have their green hot sauce. Quick service, delicious food, reasonable prices & an always smiling staff!
Their chicken is the best seller in Woodside. Their serving is huge and price is great for it. The green sauce is perfect for their roasted chicken. Pork ribs are amazing as well. I'd come back every now and then. Sp much flavor. Woodside is lucky!
I kinda want to keep it to myself but it's already out in the open wait time is long but chicken ribs n fried rice worth every minute!
The place could use an upgrade on its interior to make it more inviting to dine in
Great food! Try the chicken and ribs! They give you a choice of dark or white meat! Great fried rice and buy extra green sauce!
I have been frequenting peking bbq since 2005. Their spare ribs and rotissere chicken with pork fried rice and side of sauce are the best. They are alwyas busy. Despite being busy their food quality is still the same and delicious since i first tried . Currently due to pandemic they have stopped giving salads. I wish they did delivery though. UPDATE: Prices have increased by 2 or 3 Dollars now. Visited on July 31st
Food is always excellent but the service has been good.
One of the best quick spots around. Delicious chicken no
Tasty affordable and big portions. Cheaper to pay cash for take out.
Great place reasonably priced I had the Peruvian rotisserie chicken 1/4 with the fried rice the chicken could have been a little more seasoned but overall all the food was good I will be back to there Astoria location I want to try there ribs
After 5 years of living in the area I finally ordered ribs, chicken, & pork fried rice from this long recommended establishment. What a treat this meal was. Chicken was so moist and packed with flavor. The ribs were tender and perfectly cooked while the rice had everything going for itself. A bit pricier than what you would pay at an average restaurant for this same meal, but well worth it. The portion sizes were more than ideal. I’ll gladly be going back.
best rossitere chicken ever, very delicious and salty.
Good food. But what a greasy place. Floors have sand so people don’t fall cause they are very greasy
Nestled in Woodside, this timeless spot has been a fixture in the neighborhood for as long as I can remember. On holidays and weekends, the lines extend all the way to the sidewalk, a testament to its enduring popularity. Don't expect a fancy or extravagant setting here - it's a humble mom and pop store. While the customer service may not be exceptional, the food more than makes up for it. Recently, Action Bronson showcased this place on his show, raising its profile. Hopefully, the newfound attention won't make it too difficult to grab a bite. When it comes to their chicken, they truly excel. The meat is incredibly tender, effortlessly pulling apart, and bursting with juiciness. And let's not forget about their delectable chicken fried rice, a personal favorite of mine. Don’t forget the green sauce!! So, if you're in the mood for a no-frills, down-to-earth dining experience with outstanding chicken dishes, this spot in Woodside is the place to be. Embrace the simple charm, savor the mouthwatering chicken, and enjoy the comfort of this local gem.
(4.6/5) this spot is a staple in woodside for their Peruvian/Chinese fusion. People love their chicken but personally I enjoy their ribs!! Fresh they are juicy and tasty!! Their arroz Chaufa is super good. But some green sauce too - a little mild and it’ll def hit. They do have some tables but I personally like to do take out here. It’s also CASH ONLY. A platter is about $16& change
This restaurant has been in the neighborhood since I can remember. The chicken is excellent and the green sauce is addictive
Small place but very good food. Peruvian Chinese fusion dishes. Great prices for what you get but it's cash only. The easy go to lunch special is pork fried rice with chicken. A favorite of mine is the chicken lo mein. Other good options are the Lomo saltado or the ribs but I think the ribs are a bit pricey for what you get.
Simply the best rotisserie chicken in New York. Around 11 in the morning there's a line of people standing outside this place, and they don't stop cranking out chickens until closing time. They must go through hundreds of chickens a day. You almost start to feel bad for chickens as a species. But the relentless demand means that your chicken will inevitably be piping hot and fresh from the spit, so it's easy to look past. You might be interested to know that the piquant, habit-forming green sauce can be ordered in pint containers. Get extra and pour it over the pork lo mein.
this restaurant been 100/10 since i first had it when i was 5 years old im 32 now best chicken spot in NYC
The first meal I had here was Chicken & Fried Rice. The second time I tried their Spare Ribs with Pork Fried Rice & I haven't had the Chicken meal since then, not because it wasn't good, I just like their Spare Ribs so much better. It is always delicious, chewy, and the meat easily slide off the bone.
Good food over the years thier prices have risen ,so less of a wait now.
This place is nice and clean the chicken is a 10/10 the staff is cool. But get the chicken green sauce and one peru kola to wash it all down
There green sauce and Rostiserre chicken is actually to die for and probably the best in NYC!
Cash only but the place never fails delivering the greatest food in the neighborhood.
No frills 100% taste kinda place. Don’t forget the extra green sauce!
No frills, you come here for the amazing fusion food of Chinese and Peruvian cultures.
I got the 3 ribs and chicken breast with pork fried rice. It was soo good but for me it lacked balance in the veggie department. But being from Vancouver it’s one of the best Chinese BBQ I’ve had. No weird meaty tastes in the pork or chicken, great cook and flavour, wished they had better veggies
Some of the best chicken I’ve had in all of nyc. The environment is very much no frills but I’m here for the food and love getting it to-go. Half chicken, rice , beans, salad. Sooo good.
Been eating here from the age of about 6 with my family, im almost 20 now moved to LI, and this place still is THE BEST ! 10/10 quality, taste and kind service, always a go to for me in Queens!!
I stopped by Packed BBQ and let me tell you… this Peruvian–Asian fusion spot is absolutely doing its thing. From the moment the food came out, I already knew it was about to be good. The chicken was insanely juicy, tender, and packed with flavor — not dry, not bland, just perfectly cooked. Pair that with their fried rice, which complements every bite so well, and you’ve got a plate that keeps you going back for more. What I really love about fusion spots like this is how everything just works. The flavors blend seamlessly, the service is quick (perfect if you’re hungry and don’t want to wait), and the prices are honestly amazing for the quality you’re getting. This is the kind of place that easily lands high on my list, and now I’m excited to keep trying more spots to see who can even come close to this level. If you love bold flavors, great value, and fusion food done right, this is one you need to check out. 🔥 Peruvian–Asian fusion 💰 Affordable ✨ Worth the hype Save this for your next food run 👀🍴
My girlfriend and I tried Peking BBQ for the first time and were blown away by how good the food was. We ordered the Lomo Saltado, which was absolutely incredible, along with the chicken and ribs combo with pork fried rice. Add their green sauce on top and it honestly doesn’t get much better than that. This place is amazing and a must-try for everyone
Great spot for BBQ chicken, THEE BEEF RIBS and the famous Pollo/beef Salteado... Their Fried Rice is on point aswell. The price has gone up but its well worth it... p.s.must try their green sauce... and their aguadito soup which is a hicken soup made of the tastiest parts of the chicken.. iykyk
Tried Chinese Peruvian cuisine for the first time at Peking BBQ and wow, it was so good. A friend recommended it and now I get why it’s clearly a local favorite. There was already a line forming for their Chinese Peruvian rotisserie chicken. Heads up, it's cash only. They do have the usual American Chinese takeout items, but the Chinese Peruvian dishes are what make this spot stand out. My favorite was the Aguadito, a Peruvian chicken and cilantro soup that was super savory and comforting. I’m a soup girl no matter the weather and this one really hit the spot. The rotisserie chicken was juicy and flavorful, and the skin was perfectly crispy. We also got the spare ribs, which were tender and had a nice chew to them. The green Peruvian sauce was the real MVP though I dipped everything in it. It’s creamy, slightly spicy, and just so good. Also I loved the yuca fries. They had that crispy outside and chewy potato center. Super worth the price and I’d honestly come back just for the soup, chicken, and that sauce.
I typically get the #1 combo which is half chicken with pork fried rice n a side salad. I love the combo of the rice chicken doused in their green sauce. It’s cash only. They do NOT pick up the phone like 98% of the time so walk in is probably your best option. Service is typically quick. Inside is nothing special at least 6 4top tables.
My first meal back from Japan had to be some roasted chicken. Although, I bet the Japanese could make some fire roasted chicken if they put their mind to it. A lot of people in my comments have been talking about Peking BBQ as a potential chicken Titan, so I made the push to Queens to check it out. Right when I walked in, I knew I was in for a treat as the smell of high quality roasted chicken gracing my nostrils is something that is unmistakable. It’s as unmistakable as the smell of a quality NY pizza shop. This spot is a cash only chinese peruvian restaurant that is the definition of no frills. Not a single frill in here. It’s straight barebones which I’ve come to know is a crucial ingredient to ELITE roasted chicken. I got the 1/2 chicken with a side of pork fried rice, and an order of maduros all for under $20. This chicken was as advertised. Crispy golden skin, with the meat being juicy and tender, almost falling off the bone. The perfect contrast. Not Casa Adela level tenderness, but when paired with the green sauce it’s tough to beat. I'm tryna drown in that Peruvian green sauce. These maduros were DANCING like an iced out rollie. They were caramelized golden brown with a slightly crisp outside, and a soft interior. Some of the best maduros I’ve had. I’m slapping a 9.5 on it, which ties it with caravan chicken for #2 on my nyc roasted chicken list. Authors note here, but I'm curious as to the reasoning behind the Chinese Peruvian restaurants. I’ve seen a few different ones in NYC now so there must be some historical reason for this. I would do a deep dive on google, but I gotta clock into my 9-5 rn. THANK YOU PEKING BBQ! IG @jnov_ Tiktok @jnov_reviews
The beef broccoli is unexpectedly yummy. The chicken is juicy and the spareribs were delicious and large. I liked the yuca fried too. Green sauce not spicy but herb and sweet, a bit of tang. I prefer spicier ones. But my friend who isnt a fan on spicy, really enjoyed the green sauce here.
First time coming after reading a few reviews this seemed like another good place to try rotisserie chicken. Upon entering, you are can already in the inner workings of their rotisserie factory. We made a few orders to feast on in this Chinese Peruvian Chicken joint. Tried their half rotisserie chicken with pork fried, bbq ribs with 1/4 dark meat chicken with pork fried rice and a side of maduros. The maduros was by far the best I have eaten in a while. Definitely got some good rotisserie flavoring and the spare ribs were juicy. Cash only.
ITS SO GOOD!!! Its our first time to tried it, and it was really good! We’re really full after we ate it. Its not that pricey! I love the spare ribs, its was so tasty! I also ordered extra green sauce, i love that one on the chicken! We will be back soon for sure! PS: their dining is still closed, so this one is good for take out!
I have given this place a couple of tries, and it's a hot or miss for me. On my latest visit, the food was actually not bad. The chicken was pretty tasty, so we're the ribs and chaufa. However, my complaints were that the ribs needed to be in the oven a little more, as the skin was not falling from the bone - it was a tiny bit hard, but tasty none the less. Also, the chaufa was so greasy, and I just couldn't have that much of it. Lastly, the green hot sauce is always so salty... why?! Never liked their green sauce. The place looks like a big neighborhood Chinese takeout restaurant, not too clean and a little run down. It's definitely not a date option if you're trying to impress lol... maybe just take out! Overall the chicken was good, and I was not impressed with their prices.
My dad in the early 90s (or was it late 80s?) Took me to this place cuz it was the best Pollo a la Brasa peruvian style chicken. It has not changed much but the flavor is still there. They could polish it a bit more and take credit/debit for customers who don't have cash. I would give them 5 stars but of course they really need to update the restaurant!!
Very low key but delicious. I personally think the rice is too salty but so good I eat it anyway. Chicken is never dry and well seasoned. This is the only place I buy rotisserie chicken from. They do not deliver and depending on the line it can be a pretty long wait but worth it. I think it's a little pricey but again it is worth it.
Love the chicken, and especially the hot sauce. Also glad that they have the option to get a bigger size hot sauce cause the 45cent ones aren’t worth it for me. (in my opinion) Customer service has gotten a bit bland. They should install a credit card for their cashier soon too. Either way, food is still one of the best in Woodside. 👌
Hands down, the best, and tastiest rotisserie chicken in Woodside. Less one star because it's the most overpriced. $18 for one medium sized chicken. Sides, extra. Long waits are 15-30 min depending time of day. Worth a try. Delicious.
Tender chicken, breast not dry, good ribs. Basic but tasty fried rice with nice wok hei. Wish they weren't cash only but it is what it is
Came here at a recommendation of a friend for the ribs and chicken. The ribs were tender, but the flavor was lacking a bit. Flavor reminds me of Chinese takeout fried chicken wings-- which don't get me wrong, is tasty, but not what I'm expecting. Chicken was moist despite getting white meat (kind of by accident... we were asked if we wanted leg or thigh instead of white/dark). Peruvian green sauce was more watery than I'd prefer. I would prefer a creamier one with mayo in it. Got the fried plantains too and asked for it to be extra crispy. They did NOT make it extra crispy. The plantains were kind of thick cut, which I did not prefer. Flavor wasn't bad, but the texture gets boring after awhile as it's just mushy. Vibe is kind of ... no frills? I think they mainly cater to take out so the dine-in option is kind of just some tables and chairs. Not bad if you just want a quick cheap lunch. Overall I think the food is good, cheap-ish, and would come here again if it was my closest choice. I have another rib spot though, but it's in Bayside.
I have been going to this place for the last twenty years, The food is great, specially if your on time constraints or need to pick up something to eat fast, you have many options to order from the menu most people order the 1/3 Chicken with French Fries 🍟 that comes with a small salad and the green sauce, they also have sodas like Peruvian Inka Kola, Colombian or just coke, or ginger ail, It's very simple, The price has changed over the years I remember when it used to be $6.50 but now is about $11 and change, also you can try the Beef 🍖 or Chicken 🐔 Lomo Saltado a satué of chicken or beef with white rice mixed in French fries and unions and tomatoes 🍅 taste really good, you can also buy a whole rotisserie chicken very good tasting local food, they also have side others of Sweet plantains,Yuca, or Rice or Beans plenty of Combos. by the way they don't take any type of credit cards 💳, Just cash. It's mostly Walk thru place, but they do have limited tables, also parking in the area is limited ( Meter Parking only) So it's Peruvian 🇵🇪🦙 food mixed with a little oriental 🈴 flavor, they have been in this neighborhood for a very long time.
The Chicken and spare Ribs are tasty and the food is good. The price is reasonable. But the seating area is kind of sloppy.
The food here is very good, unfortunately their phone doesn’t work so you can’t call to order ahead of time I think they should probably add a message saying you can only order from the restaurant in my opinion. The chicken is well seasoned, the fried rice is good as well that being said I do think that the portions are a bit odd only because I ordered the 1/4 of chicken with rice and the side salad and the salad was very small I get that it’s not a full size salad but it was a tiny portion and the rice was also very little I don’t know if I maybe went too close to closing and they just didn’t have too much? But it was weird to me.
Some of the best BBQ chicken and ribs. Not a great looking place to eat food within. Looks very outdated. For takeout, I do recommend to try.
No frills, order to go Rotisserie chicken is great. Did not try the Chinese food menu
Basic Chinese takeout with a twist, there's a Chinese Peruvian fusion. Basically the fusión is the addition of Rotisserie Chicken and ají verde. There are Sweet Plantains and Rice and Beans on the menu. The line is long, the food is fresh. The service is friendly and the prices are good.
Was in the area and was feeling for some NYC Chinese food and this place popped up and honestly it lives to the hype! Place is small but the food was bomb! I did the combo #7 the 1/4 chicken and 3 ribs with pork fried rice and was so shocked how goo the chicken was! The chicken was so juicy and meaty that’s an absolute must try if you wanna go to this place. The ribs were a good bit of meat but dry so the juiciness of the chicken made up for the whole meal being delicious! Fried rice is fried rice.. enough said.. place only accepts cash and the location isn’t the best. During ordering there was a homeless guy who came in asking for change and going up to people eating food asking for change. Would go solo or at night since the area is a bit sketchy but in broad daylight and buddy system yeah! Gem food spot
The flavor of the ribs is haunting my memory. The ribs are moist (if you hate that word as a descriptor that’s too damn bad) tender and seasoned just so. They were a bit under salted for my palate but a quick dip in the green sauce does the trick. My only regret about the rotisserie chicken is that I only ordered 1/4 and not 1/2.. I was a bit put off at first because of how pale the chicken was but yet again the meat was so juicy that any distrust was quickly cast aside by my tongue slow dancing with flavor. Cashier was very kind, I thought I ordered a different side item but when we checked the receipt it was something else. He gave me both the items and they were both very delicious and piping hot. The wait was a little long but in this age of over hyped restaurants promoted on social media, I was more than understanding after enjoying the meal. The price was fantastic for 2 sides, 1/4 chicken and 3 ribs with extra green sauce. Seating is no frills, and that’s just fine, eat and leave or get your take out. I’d happily return to try some of their other specialties
CASH ONLY. The ribs had the typical Chinese 5 spice flavor, and it came with a green salsa. The salsa made the food less dry but wouldn't say it was the perfect pairing. The fried rice that came with the meal reminded me of greasy Americanized Chinese food. For the value, the place was great. The portion sizes were large. The side salad reminded me of something I expect from a bento box. It was a little too saucy. The chicken was cooked to perfection. Takeout took less than 7 minutes. Tldr: unassuming "rotisserie and bbq diner" place with cafe style seating. You don't come here for the ambiance.
I've been a customer of Peking Chicken for nearly three decades, drawn to their exceptional rotisserie chicken. Unfortunately, my recent visit revealed a significant decline in quality. The chicken, once a standout, is now noticeably smaller and slightly oversalted. It's clear that something has changed in the kitchen, and the once-stellar flavor profile is no longer what it used to be. Given the current pricing, I'd consider it overpriced for what it now offers. While the restaurant remains clean and the staff is friendly, the disappointing chicken experience has left me feeling let down. I encourage others to try it for themselves and see if their experience differs.
Good place for a quick bite after workout. The food is pretty quick, but the chicken and ribs I got were just okay, nothing too special.
ONE WHOLE CHICKEN WILL COST YOU $20. Every few months they increase price. This Rotoserrie used to be $9, then $13 then $16. Now $22 when you add spicy sauce. And the 4 pieces of ribs with rice will be the same price $20 and its tough to eat not so tasty as it used to be. Because of prices kee getting higher..I’m better off buying in nearby groceries like Associated or Keyfood $10 or less for a whole chicken rotisserie.
This place has great tasting barbecue chicken. What I like about it? It’s fresh and juicy. It has a very distinct flavor. I tried their pork ribs and I was disappointed. This place will make you pay additional for condiments so be mindful in asking for extra stuff. Staff can be unfriendly but maybe because they are always busy. Has ample space to dine in. Also very accessible to Subway. Happy eating❤️.
I ordered a whole chicken with a house special fried rice. I didn’t receive my house special fried rice and got a white rice instead. The food is great but double check your order before you leave they can make mistakes.
Shame to see how much time has passed. Prices are ridiculously expensive. 2 meals came out to 28 dollar, no drinks. Rib potion was rather small. 3 ribs but I've had bigger portions before and at their competitor caravan chicken. 3 stars is not for the food which is always good but because its gotten So expensive Edit* plus one star for the free plantains, minus half of that star cause the price has gone up again. Same meal 32$. 3.5 stars atm
Definitely overated ribs was dry chicken was ok , best part was yuca fries
This place came highly recommended by a friend, but I was NOT impressed. It was obvious the ribs are a favorite because the line was very long, but I've had better. Also, I ordered the pork fried rice and rib combo, no onions in rice. The cashier said they couldn't take the onions out of the rice in the combo and if I wanted it that way I would have to order the items separately. I will not be returning.
Been going here for years...used to be great, now not so much. Long wait, grumpy service, chicken kinda dry, rib prices totally out of whack, and worst of all, really freakin' dirty inside. So bad lately, I just can't look past this anymore (even though the green sauce is pretty good), and I have a hard time understanding how they have managed to evade the health department for so long.
This place is getting expensive. $20 for a whole simple rotisserie chicken and the guy at the front only gave me one sauce for an entire chicken. When i asked if i could have extra sauce he said i had to pay extra. No thanks. I love Pollo Ala brasa but not enough to the point where your business is gonna penny pinch and be stingy. Will be looking elsewhere for a better chicken and price.
Unfortunately, I did not love my experience here. We called for takeout but the restaurant was very loud, so the man on the phone had a difficult time taking our order. When we arrived about 20 minutes later, there was still a rather long wait and it turned out he missed part of our order. Then, the food itself was just OK. The chicken was rather dry and while the rice was yummy, it couldn't make up for the overall lackluster experience. Also, yes, they have Peruvian food and they have Chinese food, but I wouldn't exactly call it much of a "fusion".
Food is amazing, but the service is horrible. Took them 10 minutes to take my order. I called multiple times for about 30 minutes prior and no answer. Iv been standing here for 30 minutes and Iv heard the phone go off multiple times and no one answered it at all. The service from the staff was absolutely horrible could be better managed
I'm sure their food tastes good, when I have a chance to try it. But keep in mind, they expect you to put up with no delivery service, a non-workable phone number shown on their Google Maps listing (maybe they have alternative number that they refuse to provide), and dine-in ends at 8:30pm everyday (something they never list on Google Maps or Yelp). And on top of all that, cash only (enough said). If you can get through all that crap, then I'm sure the food will make up for it (if you get a chance to try it)
Found this little pebble mixed in the rice and chicken. Thought it was a piece of bone, and when I took it out of my mouth and put it down it did not sound like a bone. Gross. How does a Little Rock get mixed with food? I’m hoping I wasn’t victim of the 5 second rule. Chicken Lovers is way better in Bayside.
This place is dirty as dirty can be. They let a guy walk in and out every 10 minutes asking for money. The wait times are ridiculous if you plan to eat inside. They prioritize takeout, and even then, they have to wait for over an hour to get their chicken. We had ordered two chicken and rice combos and had us waiting 40 minutes before telling us that they were out of chicken and to just wait longer. Ridiculous! I asked for a refund and don't plan to go ever again.
This place used to be a staple in Woodside for scratching that Peruvian Chinese itch but now they're just riding the coat tails of their past reputation, also I understand nyc has become impossible especially with inflation but even than the prices are way too high for what it is.
They need to hire younger people, workers are slow as a snail 🐌 No sense of urgency. Anticipate 20-30 mins for orders.
