Came in for the first time on a Saturday around 3:30pm. Only a few minutes wait inside before ordering a slice of brisket and a half chicken. The brisket was decently tender however the chicken was delicious! 10/10 recommend the chicken with samples of all the sauces, and Mac and cheese, potato salad, and green beans along with the broccoli salad. All of the sides were superb especially the broccoli salad, mac & cheese, and green beans. The Texas Twinkie was fantastic too! The banana pudding was some of the best I’ve ever eaten! Since the meats are by the pound the prices can be higher. I will visit again!

Outstanding. I have been searching for this taste and place all my life. We were greeted with a quick tutorial as we asked when we arrived and stepped in. A super friendly man made us feel so welcome, part of the experience. There are many seating areas on different levels inside and out - fireplace and heaters as well. The food! Amazing right off the roast even for a sandwich and loaded potato (other places use unwanted parts). We also loved the option of the side portions - load them yourself with the kind and amount you want. We sampled just about everything between the two of us. Delicious! We were catered to as real guests throughout our meal. Again, other places seem to have attitudes and want you out as soon as you sit down - not here! Our experience made our special occasion and celebration even better and we are so grateful we chose you. Everyone else should as well! We have plans to head back and take other locals with us as well as it being on top when we host guests from out of town.

Every time I come to Texas I try a different BBQ joint to see if I can identify the best. So far it had always been Hutchins. But it just got beat out by the Original Roy Hutchins. My understanding is that it's the same family, or something like that. It was definitely close. But the smoked jalapeno and cheddar sausage the the Orinial RH had a flavor that seemed superior, and the brisket was more moist. I dont remember the other place having texas twinkies, and at the Original, they are a must do, and reasonable priced too! Furthermore, I loved the fact that you can pile up side dishes as high as you want in the container they provide. The free dessert bar was similar in both places. You won't go wrong at either place, but the Original definitely has an edge in my book.

Amazing! What’s amazing, you say? Everything! The atmosphere is awesome. The staff is incredible, helpful and friendly as can be. The food - oh, the food. That brisket is perfection. The bark, the best I’ve ever had. Just amazing. The french fries, the potato salad the bbq sauce. Literally, everything. And that peach cobbler. I don’t know what they put in it but wow! Sweet, with a hint of salt. Doesn’t get any better.

The Original Roy Hutchins Barbeque in Trophy Club, TX is delicious! Their brisket and turkey are cooked just right. Their sides and the corn bread so delicious! The sauce is just right too. They have ice cream and pie for free and it was delicious! The customer service from getting the food and at the table were friendly and good service! Thanks for a wonderful experience! An awesome BBQ restaurant! 12-26-25 One thing to mention. The people who clean the tables and take trash from you, won’t give you a break. They come by the table every 3 minutes and it’s like they want you to be uncomfortable. It’s not nice to bother people trying to eat and relax. I just updated my review 12-26-25.

Roy Hutchins is our favorite place for BBQ. From the time you walk in to the time you walk out, everything is top notch! When you walk in, all your senses are hit with the warmth and smell of deliciousness. The person behind the severing counter greeting with a smile and welcomed us. I decided that I wanted the beef rib after several minutes of deliberation. The person gave me a heads up on the size and cost as a caution. I went ahead and got it, with turkey on the side. From the meat station, I headed down to the side station that had so many options. I took the normal sides; mac and cheese, coleslaw and fried okra. A nice cheery greeting was provided at the cashier who was wonderful. Once everything was done and paid, we found a great place to sit. Once the plastic wear, napkins and so forth taken care, I dig in! The turkey is always so tender and juicy but the beef rib hands down was AMAZING!!!!!! The bark was perfect but once you dig in, the meat melts in your mouth, delicious!!!! I was in a rib "heaven" that anything else was white noise to me. You cannot go wrong with the beef rib and the cost is so worth it. During my consumption of my rib we were visited multiple times by several workers. By the time I came out of my beef coma, I looked down and still had tons on the bone left. A nice lady name Lidia took the rib and wrapped it for me. Luna was another nice worker who provided us with to go containers and a bag. To top it off, the dessert options are hard to choose from: cobbler, banana pudding or ice cream. My experience was great. The only complaint from my husband was, too many workers coming by to make sure we were ok and to see if they could take our trays. For me, I never noticed because I was in rib "heaven".

This is my FAVORITE BBQ restaurant. The brisket is perfectly tender and full of flavor, the ribs are fall-off-the-bone good, and the sausage is always cooked just right. Their sides... OMG SO GOOD! Taste as they came straight from a family kitchen. But what really elevates this place is the customer service and atmosphere. The staff is always friendly and their manager, Pedro, takes the time to personally walk the dining area, checking in on guests and making sure everything is just right. His presence adds a personal, welcoming touch that you don’t often see anymore. Delicious food, generous portions, and exceptional service make Roy Hutchins BBQ an easy 5-star choice. My first time here, not my first for Texas BBQ though. I like this place better already because they have their own parking. Last time I was at Terry Blacks, and whole their food was good the parking situation wasn't ideal. But anyway, Hutchins BBQ was fantastic! Expensive, but I will happily pay more for some great BBQ. The beef ribs were huge, the brisket nice and tender, and the sausage, very flavorful with a little bit of spice. Overall an excellent experience, highly recommended. 😁😁 Happy eating 😋😋

This place is great. Easy to order and free dessert. Bbq is some of the best ever, oddly enough though, the service is better than their food. Jennifer was our server in the downstairs eating hall. She is what Texas Hospitality embodies. 5 stars.

BB and Jennifer were amazing! They were very friendly and helpful. They kept the dining room clean and interacted with all the guests. As you can see, we had a lot of food and a variety. The food was extremely delicious. The only negative thing I have to say is the mashed potatoes need some seasoning or something. Thanks BB for putting a smile our families faces! ❤️

People lining up before the restaurant opens which is a good sign. This is a great place to have BBQ. The brisket I had was juicy and tender. They make their own sausage which has a great flavor. The Texas twinkie is just the way I like it. Very clean and peaceful.

We literally got everything since we ordered the Party Platter, and it did not disappoint! Every single item was amazing, but the Texas Twinkie was hands down the best. Perfectly smoked, packed with flavor, and just the right amount of heat. The service was outstanding, everyone was so nice and kept checking in to make sure we had everything we needed. You can really feel the Southern hospitality here. Generous portions, great food, and a welcoming atmosphere make this one of the best BBQ spots around. Highly recommend!

It was our first time at Roy’s , and we did not disappoint! We found the place on Yelp, and the pictures looked great, so we decided to give it a try. The line was out the door and around the restaurant, but it moved quickly, and they stationed lemonade and water outside to sip on while you wait. My husband and I took our son and his two friends for a birthday dinner, and we couldn’t believe the deliciousness that we found here. Texas Twinkies were massive jalapeños filled with cream cheese and brisket and wrapped with bacon. We opted for a party pack because we had full grown boys with us. So much food, such great amazing service. Leticia came around to make sure we were doing well as we ate, and everyone was super friendly. Free dessert if you dine in! Banana pudding & peach cobbler with soft serve ice cream. This is truly one of the best barbecue that we have ever had. Thank you Roy! We will be back!!!!

When I arrived, there was a line outside the front door. I also heard that it's like this everyday, so come early. Fortunately, my friends were already in line further inside. Clearly a popular place. I ordered half-pound of Pulled Pork, Coleslaw, and Corn. The pulled pork was very tender and tasty. The corn had a little spice to it. The BBQ sauce was OK. It didn't fit my taste buds, but overall, the food was good. Lots of seating, including outdoors and upstairs. Friendly staff all around that made the experience even better.

My friend was in the Southlake area and wanted bbq so online suggested Original Rays so he decided to check it out. he got the lunch special which included ribs, shredded brisket, buns, 2 sides and a drink. He also added banana pudding. The standouts were the two sides - Mac n cheese and mashed potatoes which were amazing and the banana pudding which was also delicious. The shredded brisket was good and the ribs had good flavor but were mostly bone. It was clearly a popular place as it was packed and the line long but you got a big portion in a nice atmosphere

Solid craft bbq spot with great service and a great atmosphere and establishment. The standout for me were the beef rib and the sweet potato side. The beef rib had great bark and seasoned well and the sweet potatoes weren't too sweet. I have tried Texas Monthly places like Terry Blacks, Interstellar, LA Barbecue, Millers BBQ, and Band of Brothers... The seasoning profile isn't as pronounced as these but the smoke flavor was great and the cook on the meat was solid. The servers and wait staff were super accommodating and kind with asking if we needed plates or to go boxes.

I’m an amateur neighborhood pit master and I rarely go out for barbecue, but in this case, I’d have to say this place is solid. It’s not cheap. Let’s just say my eyes were bigger than my wallet. I got three ribs half a pound of brisket a Dino rib and a sausage with a boat of mixed sides. It was $111. The smoke flavor was solid. The service was great. Everybody was pleasant atmosphere was great overall it was great. I’d give it five stars except for it was really expensive. I wasn’t expecting to pay that much.

Heard good things. When I arrived there wasn't much parking. Long long lines out the door with a bouncer letting people in. After a 20min wait I was let inside. Big menu. I got the brisket and pork ribs with dirty rice and brisket beans. Food looked good (esp on social media and in photos) but was unfortunately cold and dry. Even with sauce didn't improve much. Rib meat didn't fall off the bone like I imagined. The major highlight however was the dessert. The peach cobbler and banana pudding with soft serve (all for free) were very delicious!! I feel like when places like these get too big, they miss out on quality. It was a bit pricey too. Next time il try a more local mom and pop place. Pro tip. To beat the line just order takeout. It'll still be cold and dry regardless 😅.

I’m disappointed with my recent experience at Hutchins BBQ. On Dec 20, I ordered a TX feast for takeout. The next day, I discovered the hamburger buns included were labeled “best by Dec 15,” already expired when served. I contacted customer service and was first offered $43 compensation, which I didn’t feel was appropriate. I was then transferred to a manager who reduced the offer to a $25 gift card. When I declined and tried to explain my concern about food safety, the manager ended the call abruptly. I’ve always expected better from Hutchins BBQ, especially when ordering food for a group. I’m sharing this to raise awareness and hope the company will address both the food quality issue and the customer service experience. I’m still open to a reasonable resolution and a response from management.
