We had a reservation for 8:15, they sat us immediately. We had fajitas and they were delicious! Our waitress Aaliyah was so sweet and had a smile on her face the whole time. We will be back!
Desean was an outstanding server. The kitchen had a couple of after Holiday mishaps but Mr D. Pulled out his cape and went to work. Very satisfied with his customer service and resolvement. Thank you sir.
This location is really good, the service, atmosphere and food were all exceptional during my recent visit here for business lunch. We had 12 in our party and accommodated our group easily.
Excellent meal. We shared 2 different fajita orders - one skirt steak & chicken, and one grilled veggie. Rice, beans, sour cream, guacamole, cheese... I think these were some of the best fajitas I've ever eaten, honestly. The flavors were so delicious. And, the manager came by to check on our table, thanked us for choosing their restaurant out of all the places to choose from - thought this was a nice touch!
Had dinner there when I was in Dallas. It is really good Mexican food especially for a chain. The wait was short and the service was really good. They have a cool environment so it would be a great place for a group. I had the beef enchiladas meal and it was good. Price was ok there is some value there
Great tex-mex. Outstanding salsa. Fajitas are awesome. Try the bacon wrapped shrimp. Great service. Great atmosphere. Lots to pick from on menu. Can be busy but there is plenty of space in bar and outside. Margaritas are awesome. Well worth a visit for your Mexican fix for lunch or dinner. Good for families or couples or business lunches. Not crowded seating space and not overly loud. East to have a conversation without a lot of restaurant noise.
How do I love thee, Sayda & Michael, let me count the ways ♥️♥️♥️♥️.... Went back to the grapevine location yesterday for lunch, a coworker and I. It was still a beautiful experience! The food was delicious. I would recommend the combination fajitas, adding the guadalajara shrimp at least three. Then get the honey chipotle, guava sauce thingy meducci... They'll know what you mean. The service is excellent!!!! If you have time drive by for a visit, expect to spend about $35 bucks for your lunch. Worth every stinkin' penny. Drop by and give them a visit. I promise you will NOT be disappointed. 😊🙃😁
The steak fajitas are soo good here! The margaritas are delicious too. We always come here when we are in the area. Leo was the best server!!
The lunch chicken fajitas were just the right amount and delicious. Our server was the best, so friendly and engaged in conversation with us.
After a long morning of traveling my boyfriend brought me here. It was very beautiful inside and out. I enjoyed the food especially the perfectly cooked steak (it was very tender, I couldnt believe it) and their drinks were so good. Aside from that all of the staff that we came in contact with were friendly and practicing safety by wearing a mask. Another thing I liked about this restaurant was the strong teamwork. I seen everyone helping each other to maintain cleaning as well as providing the best service for its customers.
Food was delicious and the waiter I had was a true gem his name was Alfredo and he was just amazing and super friendly. The food I am so glad I came to this place! Will be back in the future. Prices were super fair and I have to say although maybe a couple dollars more for a lunch well worth it.
Our meal was wonderful, but our server Abe was the best part of the evening. He was a really great server. Thank you!
Uncle Julio’s in Grapevine, TX is like a magical land where fajitas and tacos reign supreme. The chicken fajitas are so perfectly grilled, you’d think they were auditioning for a cooking show. The beef tacos are so juicy, they could double as a water park attraction. And the cheese enchiladas? They’re so cheesy, even a mouse would say, “Whoa, that’s a bit much.” If you leave Uncle Julio’s without a smile and a full belly, you might need to check if you’re secretly a food critic. 🌮😄
My coworkers and I went here for lunch today and I am glad that we did. I needed to reserve seats for a party of 10 people. I called and I was able to get us a table with ease. We received our food quickly and was delicious. The service was great and the staff was super friendly. Then it was time for our check, and we were all handed some nifty card readers to conveniently pay for our lunch.
Locals should be checking this place out more often. The quality is back to exceptional in my opinion. The chips salsa and queso have always been excellent. A really good HH with a lot of great food and drink choices. If you can, I recommend dining at the bar. Maria is one of the best in town, and that’s saying a lot.
Say folks ... so it's your old friend Weezer aka JN ... so it took two months but the intelligentsia finally got the AC (Capital) fixed and its brill ... this staff here with Will, Josh, Miguel the fish man ... Melissa and Juan ... they are all stellar ... promote them all I say ... I salute you Uncle Js ... you aren't as mediocre as we thought!
The food here is excellent although i wish the service would follow suit. I went here on two separate occasions and there is only one good employee. The latino bartender with the glasses. The rest of the staff has bad work ethic. They aren't efficient and they fool around. Nonetheless the excellent food & drinks still gives this place 5 stars.
Very popular place obviously, crowded and lots of family of very diverse dining parties, many with kids, and one large group there for what looked like an office event. They have automated text waiting list and needed that because of the line at this time of the year with all the holiday celebrations. Staff very busy but still pleasant and patient. New item Beef Barbacoa Fajitas was braised and a hit with wife today! Great taste and value for family dining!
Uncle Julio’s is always a great experience, but Maribel made it exceptional! She’s truly one of the best bartenders I’ve ever had—friendly, attentive, and incredibly knowledgeable. Her drinks were perfect, and she made the whole visit feel welcoming and fun. If you’re coming to Uncle Julio’s, definitely grab a seat at the bar and ask for Maribel. Highly recommended!
You can't go wrong at Uncle Julios. Been dining at there restaurants for over 12 years. Consistency of the food and exceptional service. If you like TexMex, this is one of the best in Texas. Lunch or dinner. Also try there margaritas. Omg. Just one of these and you'll be trying to dance with Aunt Julio. Always festive and plenty of parking too. Bon appetite
First time here, and we were extremely happy with the service and food! Patrick at the bar was super nice with helping me choose a drink and provided outstanding service! Food had good flavor and I liked that they give you hot sauce on the side if you want some heat. We will definitely be back again!
Had a ladies brunch get together. None of the restaurant took our reservations because we had a large group but Uncle Julio did. Great décor inside & out with great ambience. Food were appealing and delicious, blood orange margarita must not miss maybe bit strong for me for the day time.
Aaliyah was a great server. Refilled drinks promptly and greeted us as soon as we sat down. Appreciate the good food. The only thing was we made a reservation and had to wait 20 minutes to be sat down as they did not have a table ready for us. The bathroom was very smelly and nasty and almost made me regurgitate my food but other than that the food and Aaliyah’s service was wonderful. Will be back but not going in the bathroom.
This review is for SCOTT, the manager!!!! THIS IS BY FAR THE BEST UNCLE JULIO’S I HAVE EVER ATTENDED, and I have eaten at many!!! I had to take time out of my dinner to write this review, because I am so impressed!! First off, I want to say, when you walk into a restaurant for a second time and the Manager remembers you from the night before, it shows from the TOP how this Restaurant is managed! Scott, the Manager, runs an amazing restaurant, staff, kitchen, bar, ect… I had skirt steak fajitas the first night and the carne asada steak (AMAZING!) the second night! Also, we went during happy hour and ordered their amazing queso blanco and house guacamole! So so so so so good! And lastly, our server, Josh, was absolutely on point and we never had to ask for anything! One last thing, if you have never been you must get the chocolate piñata; it is their signature dessert!
We always enjoy our food and experiences at Uncle Julio's. Today was another great experience and was able to celebrate our daughter's birthday.
Excellent food and drink specials made this a very nice dinner decision. Had their barbacoa tacos!
Aaliyah was our server and she did a great job tending to our large group. We came to celebrate my husband's 60th birthday. Uncle Julio's serves one of his favorite margaritas, the El Jefe. The food, atmosphere and service were all good!
I guess we fix things that aren’t broken here. We used to love the salsa. Gone! Used to love the chicken Taquitos. Gone! My husband loved the beef tacos. Changed. What happened to the shrimp appetizer?? The wine list has about 2 options. This is a fast way to lose business in an area that’s highly saturated with Mexican restaurants and people who expect consistency. We will not be back because we have no idea what to expect and everything left isn’t appetizing.
We had a large group lunch but our waiter, Tony, did a great job. The hostess up front was very friendly and helpful. The fish tacos were outstanding. Great venue for large groups.
My family and I had lunch at Uncle Julio’s in Grapevine today after my son kept talking about how much he loved the food. We had a great experience—the food was delicious, the atmosphere was welcoming, and our waitress was attentive. What really stood out was the general manager, Marcelo Irizarry. He greeted us with a big, genuine smile and took a moment to chat with my 90-year-old mom, which meant a lot to our family. We also noticed how warmly he interacted with other guests —it really set the tone for the whole restaurant. We’ll definitely be back, both for family meals and for meetings when we’re in the area.
Marcello, the manager, was so warm and friendly and hospitable, checking on us and being friendly with us! Our server Lynn was great, too. The tamales, Guadalajara and Carne Asada, as well as chocolate piñata were all DELISH!
If you love Mexican food, like we do, and want a great food experience with stellar service, then Uncle Julio’s in Grapevine should be your next visit. Maribel made sure we were well taken care of in the bar area for our dining and our holiday poinsettia beverages. She was professional, very pleasant and attentive. All of our dishes were delicious and the salsa here is the absolute best! We were so impressed with the service, food and atmosphere that we decided to host our son and his new fiancée’s engagement party at this location!
We were staying at the Great Wolf lodge on Thanksgiving and thought we'd take the kids out for dinner. We stopped here unfortunately not knowing they were about to close. They were so very kind and sat us down and fed us. It warmed our hearts the kindness they showed my family. They really went above and beyond for us. We had a big spread. Our tummies were full thanks to them. Thank you again Juan and Maribel. I hope you both had a amazing Thanksgiving you both deserve.
I always have lunch at the bar with the best service from Maribel. Very affordable lunch menu with endless chips & salsa. My weekly go-to is a combo plate with chicken enchilada & crispy beef taco, rice and beans. Served anyway you like it. Less than fast food sandwich places. And way better.
Juan was perfect! Cups stayed filled, food was delivered hot and promptly. He checked on us at regular intervals yet didn’t hover. 10/10 excellent service! Fajitas are worth it! Get you some!
I wanted to take a moment to recognize the outstanding service provided by Maribel during my visit on 12/04/2025. Her attentiveness, professionalism, and warm attitude truly elevated the dining experience. She anticipated our needs, offered thoughtful recommendations, and ensured everything ran smoothly from start to finish. Please extend my appreciation to Maribel for their exceptional work. It’s employees like her who make guests want to return. Kind regards, Jose Luna
We went there as a family and enjoyed chicken fajitas. They were so good this place cooks. The best chicken in the world is not overdone. We also enjoyed the salsa and chips. Some of my guest at the table got corn tortillas. Our waiter was fabulous. The food was warm cook just right and I thought the price was great. The restaurant was very clean and the parking was easy. We actually had reservations just to make sure we could get a table. We enjoyed ourselves a lot. I highly recommend this location.
Uncle Julio’s and overall it was a pleasant experience with many highlights, though there were a few details that could be improved. We ordered carnitas, fajitas for two, and for dessert, the churro cake with cajeta. The carnitas were the star of the night – juicy, flavorful, and absolutely delicious, served with beans that we loved, packed with that homemade taste. The warm, handmade tortillas were perfect for making tacos and enjoying every bite. On the other hand, the fajitas were a bit disappointing. The portion was very small for two people, the meat lacked flavor, and unfortunately, it had sinew, which made it feel like the cut wasn’t of the best quality. The churro cake with cajeta was a great way to finish the meal sweet, rich, and perfect for sharing. As for the service, it was excellent. The staff was friendly and attentive throughout our visit, and the drink we ordered was delicious, which helped make the overall experience enjoyable despite the fajitas. In summary, Uncle Julio’s offers a nice atmosphere, outstanding service, tasty drinks, and desserts worth trying, but we feel that the fajitas could use improvement in flavor, portion size, and meat quality to match the rest of the experience.
Great restaurant. Food was awesome and the guac made table side will always win. The service was great from the door to the table. Great experience and food. Would recommend for a lunch time stop or even for dinner. The steak fajita bowl is my recommendation but with no onions. They load it with onions.
We have been waiting to try this spot, as it’s always very busy. We finally made reservations for Valentines and it was fantastic! Scott the manager was so generous and accommodating even with the slightest order discrepancies. It was a 10/10 dining experience and I recommend the shrimp and crab stuffed pablano with cheesecake churros and vanilla bean ice cream!!!
My family, friends, and I visited Uncle Julio's yesterday for Valentines Day, which was also my birthday. It was a great experience. We enjoyed the food, the atmosphere, and the service. The manager Scott was were welcoming and came around to see how things were going and even gave some great recommendations. But the waitress of the day award goes to Amira but we called her Mi-Mi. She was such a delight and it was a pleasure to have her as our server. The food was overall very good. I didn't necessarily like one of the salsas and I wasn't a fan of the bacon wrapped cheese & jalapeño stuffed shrimp. The bacon just wasn't done enough. So that was a little disappointing but everything else we ate was top notch. We ordered drinks and all types of entrees. I really enjoyed the Swirl Margarita (it was margarita & sangria mixed)... so good! And the fajitas are amazing! I truly enjoyed my time here and will definitely be back!
I'm delighted to give this Mexican restaurant a well-deserved 5-star rating. The interior and ambiance were exceptional, creating a wonderful atmosphere for our meal. The server's warm welcome and enthusiasm truly enhanced our dining experience. We began with delightful non-alcoholic drinks like the mango passion lemonade and strawberry lemonade, which were outstanding. While some appetizers seemed a bit pricey, the standout was the fish and shrimp ceviche, truly awesome. The main dishes like enchiladas and fajitas were fantastic, and the tortilla bowls filled with chicken and cauliflower were delicious, though a bit filling. The chocolate pinata was a unique experience, albeit pricey. Save it for special occasions to make your loved ones feel truly special. For other dessert options, consider something else. Overall, it was a very good experience that I highly recommend.
Daria was the most incredible waitress. I've had wait on me in a long time made me feel at home. Great food great atmosphere if you get into our section, she treats you like a king.

Uncle Julio’s is a restaurant your rich uncle started in Grapevine to charge $30 bucks for tacos 🌮! Very upscale ambiance for a Mexican restaurant. Food was pretty decent but wildly overpriced. We had enchiladas, beef fajita’s, 1 margarita, and chips & queso. The bill before tip was north of $90! The beef fajitas come in three prices $20 for 2 tacos, $30 bucks for 3, and $40 for 4. The host was excellent the staff seemed a little persnickety to me. This is a place to go for an anniversary, once a year maybe. Not your typical daily go to Mexican food establishment.
The food was wonderful but it was a 20 minute wait to get a seat. The restaurant was mostly empty, just not enough staff. Once we were seated it took over 15 minutes for anyone to start waiting on us. But the food and margaritas were wonderful. The Carnitas Fajitas are back!! My favorite. There were 4 of us eating. Went again for the wife's birthday. Always one of our favorites!! Last Saturday, cheated on my diet. Worth it.
If you haven't tried Uncle Julios you are missing out. I have been to a lot of mexican restaurants and this is my favorite. The food was really good the atmosphere was busy but good and the service was great. Our waitress Emily was amazing the managers even cane by and daid hello. Uncle Julios is definitely a must visit.
We visited the Grapevine location on Friday 8/22. We arrived around 4:00 and expected to enjoy the happy hour for drinks along with our meal. You can now only enjoy happy hour at the bar! What the heck? This is a very poor decision in my opinion. Why on earth would your corporate office decide to do this? We can walk 20 feet and pay 1/2 price (3 - 6) or pay full price to place the order with the server. The manager, Melissa, was very helpful with our questions and happily let us know that the Cadillac margarita recipe has been corrected (what I would call corrected; when you messed with that recipe we quit buying that drink). The food is excellent and we're at your platinum rewards level which means we've eaten here often. Corporate has made some poor decisions, in my opinion, over the last couple of years. Changing drink recipe, eliminating the red salsa and now no happy hour if your want to sit and eat! There was also a visit we had where you didn't receive a straw for your drink unless you asked for one and then a manager delivered it. You know there is a saying, "if it's not broken, don't fix it"!
When I’m feeling like Mexican good Uncle Julio’s is one of my top local choices. Today I enjoyed the chicken nachos, no sour cream, extra guacamole. The food was consistent with previous visits and delicious as always. My girlfriend has the Chicken Enchiladas without garnish and the hatch chili sauce on the side. For drinks it was just waters today but if you like a great margarita, they have the best top shelf margarita. Enjoy!
My visit to Uncle Julio’s was decent until the guacamole soured the experience. It just didn’t taste right and felt out of step with the rest of the meal. On the bright side, the drinks were good, the other food was tasty, and the service was excellent. If the guac isn’t reliable, you’ll still have a solid time, but I’d temper expectations about that particular dish.
Uncle Julio's has an amazing atmosphere with a super friendly staff. The menu has a nice combination of items but a lot of shellfish and all meats seem to be cooked with mesquite. Those are great things for most people but with shellfish allergies they assured us my steak bowl would be prepared to assure no issues. The food was good. Check out their pinata dish it looks amazing.
The food was flavorful, but the portions were smaller than expected for the price. I tried the fajitas, and while the meat was tender, it didn’t have the smoky, grilled flavor I usually enjoy. The sides, like the guacamole and beans, were good, but the chips were a bit stale. The service was friendly, but it took longer than I expected for the food to arrive. The atmosphere was lively and vibrant, perfect for a casual night out, but overall, I think there are other Mexican restaurants in the area that offer better value.
Staff members and waiters were very polite and friendly. Give them 5 stars. First let me say I hate giving bad reviews. However, I tell it like it is. I’ve been to this Uncle Julio’s many many times. Today we went for a late lunch. The place was almost empty. Placed an order for Fajitas for two. Beef and Chicken. First let’s talk about Chips and Salsa. Chips had a taste of old grease. Zero salt or other seasoning. Salsa was tasteless. I mean no taste at all. Not a hint of spices or heat. Most Mexican Restaurants offer hot chips with at least some salt. Some are dusted with paprika or chili powder. The fajitas came out on a semi warm platter. No sizzle. No steam. Chicken was warm and tender but bland. Skirt steak was tough as leather. Grizzle. No marinade. No tenderness. No taste. Cut in big chunks. Charro Beans needs seasoning on to be cooked another hour. Onions were barely cooked. A few peppers and were overcooked to being nonexistent. The jalapeño was cooked, on one side! The entire entree screamed “ I dont care, just eat it” I asked the waiter Jack to bring more chicken in place of the skirt steak. The manager came out quickly with a generous portion of chicken at no charge. I’m not a chef. But I do know how to season properly, tenderize tough meat and know what to do to make a meal enjoyable to eat. It’s obvious that no one is tasting the food that they serve and correcting the stated issues.
Totally enjoyed trying this restaurant out. It was a busy Mother’s Day afternoon and the staff was on their A-game. We were seated immediately and the young lady who served us was awesome. She was friendly and efficient. She got our orders and constantly checked in to see if we were doing fine and if we needed anything else. The manager met with all the guests to ensure great service. The drinks menu has a good selection of margaritas, beer and wine options. Watermelon margarita was the drink the month. Chips are served with 2 kinds of salsa - the smokey bbq salsa was different & unique. Enchiladas and tacos are what we ordered and the food tasted great. The ice cream ball for dessert was amazing - definitely shareable. Ambiance of the restaurant was upscale and spacious. Lots of parking available. Would recommend making a reservation for evenings and special occasions. Pricing : Moderate high Will I return? : For sure!

Great food and margaritas! I'm deducting a star because this location is poor on reservation management. Every time we've made a reservation, we're 20+ minutes late to be seated which is a shame.

Went on Father's day at 2pm and I can understand its a busy day but still somethings has to be right. I ordered Fajitas and they forgot to give me tortilla even after reminding them twice. When tortillas came, my food was cold and had to send for heating up. Flavor was ok compared to other mexican restaurants. Chicken was very dry. Quantity was good. Best thing was their spicy salsa and chips. 😁
Not a very good experience. Food wasn’t very good. I asked for no cheese on salad and beans. It was cheese on both. Received tacos that were soggy and fell apart while eating. Cocktails were very weak. The best two part of my experience was our waitress and the chocolate piñata. Not sure if I’ll visit again. Very underwhelming experience.
Food was okay. Nothing special. For the price I paid I think it would have been better spent at papasitos. Great service though. Clean restaurant. Just overpriced for the quality and amount of food you get. The sides of rice and beans you get with a 30$ entree was like two spoonfuls which I found ridiculous.
The queso has changed and it isn't as good anymore, rest of the meal was good but the queso being similar to chipotles (kinda gritty?) just ruins it for me. Great service and such, but just drive a little more and go to Pappasitos.
I used to love Uncle Julio's so much! I worked there in my 20s, in the Oak Lawn area, move to Grapevine several years later and was so happy when they opened one here. They keep changing the menu and I keep trying it again because of how much I originally loved it. They've been hit or miss but this newest menu change ain't it! Maybe the worst so far. A strange seasoning in a lot, the queso is grainy and the Chile con carne is sweet. I may never give it another chance, who knows....
I haven’t been here is about 6 months. Service and the food quality are normally spot on. It took the waitress 10 minutes to take our drink orders. We got the Pechugo de polle and the Tex mex dinner. My enchiladas were fine but the beans and chicken was a little under seasoned. The old managers used to walk around and talk to every table to see how things were going.
Made a reservation for my dad’s 75th birthday for 10 people on a Sunday at 4:30 because it’s one of the few places he actually likes to eat at. Everything started off great. Table was ready, chips and salsa on table. Server was a nice guy. Drinks took at least 15+ minutes. I get it, large table, lots of drinks. Food came out timely but we were missing some tortillas for our fajitas. My husband bit into a toothpick or partial skewer twice (he had the bacon wrapped shrimp). No one else that had the shrimp had them in theirs. We told the manager on duty when she came by to do a table check that we still needed tortillas and more chips but she never came back even though she said she would. I think our server thought she took care of it but she didn’t. We’re 1.5 hours in at this point and not because we want to be there this long. Things really went south when the server ordered our chocolate piñata, gave us to go boxes (all good things) but never once throughout the meal was our table pre-bussed, nor was there anyone around to do so. I’m not sure who was supposed to be clearing the table but 15-20 minutes later the table was a still a huge mess and here came our giant dessert. We moved things to an empty table to make room and cleaned the table off ourselves so the server could put it down. Again, table of 10 so I get things can get hectic but this guy needed back-up and was left hanging and leaving us slightly irritated at no one in particular, just the situation.
Not impressed. Loved that we were able to make a reservation on NY Eve, no wait was seated immediately. Our order was a disaster beer was hot, never brought us our queso, forgot chicken on fajita trio, bacon was raw on bacon wrapped shrimp, forgot our rice & beans. The waitress was sweet but didn’t have a clue. I had a $50 gift card that I purchased sitting there at the table because they were given a $15 reward card and she tried to tell me that my gift card expired that day at 5:24. I was trying to explain to her that that was the time I bought the gift card there’s no way it had expired. We did the piñata for dessert and it was good. Overall would not recommend which might be why they were not busy on New Years Eve.
Came in at lunch and got seated right away. Ruben, our server was friendly and attentive. Didn’t ask how everything was when you had a mouthful of food, haha. Chips and salsa were good, a little salty on some chips, but it happens. Ordered the rice bowls, steak and chicken. That is where it kinda went downhill. Not much flavor in either. The steak had no fajita steak taste I was expecting. Chicken was bland and didn’t taste very good. Cilantro rice also lacked flavor, looked like regular rice with some cilantro leaves added. Great service and atmosphere, location also is easy to get in and out of, just this food was not as expected.

We ordered fajitas and was surprised an order for one beef Fajitas was 30 dollars. Buy the time you got guacamole and a Margarita or two with tax and tip it was over $100 per person!

Half of the chips in your bowl will be bits and pieces. The salsa will be watery to the point where none of it stays on your chip. If you ask, they can provide you with a spicier salsa that is also watery. The large portion of queso comes in a small bowl, with a side of burnt onions that no one at our table understood or wanted to add to the queso. After you wait 45 minutes for the food, the portions will shock you at the price point. Combo fajitas: two strips of steak, two chicken and two shrimp for $40. What in the wannabe Abuelo's did this place become? Honestly, On the Border off 121 that just got bought by the Papa brothers is wayyy better for your money.
Uncle Julio’s was pretty basic for a Mexican restaurant potentially trying to take advantage of the proximity to DFW and the Gaylord Convention center. The rice was hard, like it’d been stuck to the side of a pot, the beans were just okay and the entree was pretty bland. The guac was pretty chunky with hard avocado pieces. I felt rushed in and out even though there were about 10 people in the restaurant at 6 o’clock when I went. My total came out to over $30 with tip, all said and done, which in my opinion was pretty high for the quality and quantity of food.
The uncle Julio‘s in Grapevine, Texas first off the exterior of the facility needs some attention. The interior needs some attention and what I mean by that is the facility is old and not very well cared for and just average it best and not a place that I will ever return to. It’s one of those one in done type deals. I would not recommend it. The food here is no better than at Chili’s or at Taco Bell..
The Birria tacos were terrible. No flavor. The queso was runny and served with burnt onions. The chicken fajitas had absolutely no flavor either. I really wanted to try this place and I am not impressed/ probably will never go again.
We were in Grapevine for the day and decided to stop in at this Uncle Julio’s. We hadn’t been to this location in several years and we won’t be going back anytime soon. To start things off, it took over 10 minutes for the waiter to come to our table on a slow Sunday afternoon (as we were wrapping up another table walked out because the waiter never came to their table). We ordered queso to start. In a word, it was trash. Apparently this location is testing a new menu and has introduced a new five cheese queso. It is gritty and whatever the cheeses are that they used, they’re the wrong cheeses. Go back to the old stuff. Then they used to have a soft taco plate and it was no longer on the menu. My wife was still able to get it, so no harm no foul there. And the rice. How exactly does one mess up Mexican rice? If you ever need to know ask this Uncle Julio’s how, they know the secret. I think we’ll stick with the Frisco Uncle Julio’s. If they ever decide to adopt the new menu, we’ll be finding somewhere else to go. It is not for us.
Not cool uncle Julio’s I’ve been dinning her for over 20 years or the day you open grapevine restaurant. The food portions have got smaller over the last few years and prices are higher. I get that kinda but crispy tocos tonight looked street tacos. !!!!🌮
Had to wait 45 minutes and there were multiple open tables. Only to get seated at one of those open tables 45 minutes later. In addition the salsa is watery and taste weird. I had the taco salad and it had like five black beans in it and about five tiny cubes of chicken in it. The cocktail menu doesn't provide a variety of anything other than tequila drinks. The kitchen needs to get their act together and so do the people seating. I'll never go back. Absolutely not. would not recommend this place at all
We came to dine here on a Saturday night. We had reservations for 7:15 p.m. but we were not seated until almost 7:40 p.m. We realized it was a busy night but there is no point in making reservations if you are going to have to wait. It was clear that there was not enough staff to wait on customers. Two tables next to us had still not been cleared 15 minutes after we had arrived. We waited 10 minutes for a waitress to come to our table. The food was just okay. Nothing special for us as we have dined at other authentic Mexican restaurants with better service and food. The chips were super oily and in crumbs. Unfortunately, this establishment will not be on our list of future visits.
Just ate here for Sunday lunch (10/26/25), and was disappointed. I’ve eaten at other Uncle Julio locations in the past and the usual restaurants around. We were seated quickly, but was disappointed in the rest of the service. No water or salsa refills, food took a while to come out although restaurant was only half busy, birria was salty across two different dishes, and the beans had almost no salt. I had to get up a couple of times to find my waiter to ask for plates and then for sour cream for my daughter. No Manager to be found. In addition, menu was new with higher prices and smaller quantities. Did not experience premium food, but atmosphere was nice.
Unfortunately, "twice" time is a charm for me here. I had gone several months back and was not serviced until I found someone to help us. I will say then the manager was very helpful and offered a fr…

Not sure how this restaurant is still in business. The worst service I've ever seen. It took forever to get drinks, food was cold, no sense of urgency. The food just ok.

I’ve been coming here for years but it’s not worth it anymore. This place is so much worse than it used to be. First off, prices are a lot higher than just a year ago. It’s $120 for a fajitas for 4, which is really fajitas for 2 adults with two kids having a strip or two. The beef is really tough and chewy now. They don’t let you get queso as an appetizer, only guacamole. I mean this place used to be THE SPOT for fajitas, now it’s a waste of money. I could put up with the watery salsa cause the rest was great, but meh. I’ll buy my $12 non alcoholic special lemonade from somewhere else.
Very bad experience, would not come again. The salad looked very old, the chicken looked overcooked and tasted terrible, and our waiter did not come back for a while after the drinks. We were seated and ordered and he only came back for the first time after we were finished and ready to pay. It was not a fancy place at all like we expected.
Went for a birthday party so we had a large group (20). Called 2 weeks ahead for reservations and still waited an hour before we were sat. The server was SLOW and our drinks sat empty after we got them. The service and quality was absolutely horrible. Would not recommend. Go on down the road to alliance for a much better experience.
Food was horrible!! I was with a group of 20 people out of the 20 people 3 people liked the food. Buy the pinata only, the food is over priced with very limited flavor. Skip the cheese dip also. For $116 for two people I can say we as a group wont go back.
This location drastically changed not only the menu but the ingredients in their food to make it a completely different restaurant. For us it changed drastically in the wrong direction. We will not be coming back after 8 faithful years. The beans were watery and flavorless, the ground beef was sweet and “odd” tasting, the salsa was the consistency of water with zero flavor or spice, the queso (we immediately sent back) was grainy and tasted like sour milk, the rice was bland and the shredded chicken tasted like a step below any local fast food Mexican chain. I hate to be writing this because we have been coming to this location for so long but unfortunately we can’t in good conscience come back. We were advised that other locations haven’t made these changes and the feed back has been 50/50 on the changes. If you are a longtime faithful beware of the changes you may feel like us.
I cannot believe you changed your queso recipe, the queso was iconic to your restaurant. The food does not taste like Uncle Julio’s. The new owners are cutting food cost and you can taste it. This place will be closed within five years.
Got there at 3:10 was seated in dining area was given menu and drink menu with happy listed starting at 3pm. When I got my check at 4:15 it was full price drinks. Was told u had to sit at bar for happy hour prices even though they give u drink menu with happy hour drinks and prices listed. Got beef and chicken fajitas came out warm not sizzling guac was listed as coming with it but got none. Had to even ask for water.
Used to be my all-time favorite but since it’s changed hands it’s not even worth going to. Chips were stale, tortillas tasted off and were warm but stale on the outside, queso was grainy. I’ll be surprised if the franchise remains open in the long run at this rate. So disappointing.
First off want to express that this was one of the worst experiences I’ve had in my entire life. It takes top 3 worst restaurants and worst customer service experiences we’ve encountered. Not only did they fail to put us on the actual wait list for an hour after having us sit in the waiting area and then have us wait another 25 mins after that, they then didn’t even take our drink order for almost 40 mins. Once another 30 mins passed we ordered food and it took another hour and a half to receive the food- almost everyone at the table received incorrect food. That took another 25 mins to get it fixed. The manager even came around to ask how things were doing and we explained how awful it’s been and they offered to comp a chocolate piñata, THAT NEVER CAME EITHER. we never saw the manager again after that offer had been made. It took another half hour just to find our waiter and ask for the checks. Those were handed out incorrectly too after it was explained who in our group needed to be billed for what items. I will never come back here after they ruined what was supposed to be a surprise party for my birthday. This was absolutely one of the worst experiences I’ve had at a restaurant. This was so absurd and so very disappointing.
Just skip it, and find something better. Server did his best, but you can tell they are very understaffed. Quality of the food is bad now and the menu is less than half what it was. Bought in 2024 by an investment group that destroyed this restraint. We were there on a Sunday evening...maybe 1/3 of the tables occupied, so that should have ben a warning.
Sad Face! We but live over 20 min from this location. Passed a lot of great places. Tonight was a fail. We got seated quickly but then waited for 29 minutes for anyone to help us. I finally got up and asked another server if our section was closed or if we even had a server. She said she’d find someone. Service was slow. Food arrived cold. Brought out by some other server. My recommendation. Check out other local Tex Mex restaurants in the area. There are a lot of good ones close by. I’m sad Uncle Julio’s is the uncle I don’t want to visit again. Check out Esparza’s.
