A well put together, locally owned Chinese/Japanese restaurant with some of the best Asian cuisine north of the Westchester county line.

Food is consistently delicious and fresh. Never had a bad meal. Service is great and the staff are incredibly kind. We go as a family at least once a month.

Always great food and a friendly, cordial staff. The dining room is clean and comfortable when it is open. They are currently adhering to strict Covid precautions and only serving take out, but still worth a visit.

Lived in Dutchess county for 20 years and never tried Tokoharu. Wow what a mistake. Nothing fancy,but the food was excellent. Highly recommend this place if your looking to grab some good food at a very reasonable price.

I've been here at least 30 times and the food is always delicious. You literally can't beat their lunch specials, and the people are always nice. Highly recommended!

Get the sushi, get the sashimi! Melt in your mouth deliciousness! ❤️ I used to live in Flushing NY where the best sushi is (well Japan really), and it is worth a taste!

I am a loyal customer. They have a large menu and they have never disappointed. One time someone abandoned their food and the staff gave it to me and my family, instead of throwing it away. These are good people who serve amazing food.

Not bad for sushi as area is limited for Japanese food- this place also has Chinese food. Service can be better when there's a small gathering, usually on weekends, otherwise it's fine. Food is good but atmosphere is only acceptable. They could do better.

Tokoharu used to be a local favorite of mine, as they offered a good mix of Westernized and also more authentic Chinese dishes - but the quality and service seem to have gone down after Covid began (food is now below-average IMHO, and my order was once cancelled without any explanation). Hoping things will improve as the world returns to normal.

Food is subpar tastes weird and hairs, not just one, in the food. Wear a hair net seriously. Won't go back. Teriyaki too sweet.

The Sushi deluxe selections are now as lame as grocery store sushi and you need to order a la carte if you actually want variety. We ordered Chinese takeout last night and all our food was 'closest to' what we actually ordered, or totally off. And not great. When ordering pick up, they used to text when ready. Not anymore. Will start looking elsewhere.

So disappointed. This was our spot for 20 years. They must have gotten new owners because the quality of the food took a sudden nose drive. All bland, smaller portions, and lower quality. It’s going to be hard to find a place that can replace the old Tokaharu.

The sushi rice basically fell apart in my hands. The salad had maybe a tablespoon of dressing. Salmon had no flavor and the eel was not even cooked. I think it is time to move on!

Basic dishes lack the essential baseline tastes you find in Chinese cuisine everywhere. Whoever's in the Kitchen doesn't know how to cook Chinese, likely new owners without a clue. The entire staff has changed too. Bought an extra quart of egg drop soup to put in the fridge and eat next day or two. Went to get it and it had decomposed into a totally water-like grayish fluid. Disgusting. Never saw that happen before in the million times I've bought egg drop soup from anywhere and everywhere else. Sorry to see this place falling apart by the seams.

Not sure what happened to this place but I’ve been sitting here waiting for my takeout order for over 30 minutes past when it was supposed to be ready. Still waiting…

Honestly the worst Chinese I've ever had

If you order take out from this place, be sure to check your food before you leave. They have yet to get an order right. And the food is mediocre. I only go here because it's close to my office, but no more.

Worst chinese in Hopewell. Place was dusty and dark. Food was mediocre at best. Wouldn’t recommend if you are looking for good chinese. Go to empire wok for take out and you will have way better food.

Worst I have ever had red plastic in egg roll. Chicken and snow pee dish tasted of burnt plastic. I know who to go after if I end up in er.

They are under new ownership. Won't be going back. A real shame, used to be a favorite of ours.

I ordered edamame and it was not green but grayish in color. And the sushi I got was called the rock in roll had bones all in it. Worst sushi I have ever had.

It’s indeed a disappointing experience as we never thought a vegetable dish is served with pork fried rice and the gentleman being very rude over the phone and addressing well all Chinese restaurants do this you should have known. None in Fishkill or Beacon Chinese restaurants serve this way. We are vegetarians and no where on their online order has such information. Never doing any more future orders with this arrogant place.

Do not eat here, you will get sick. Sushi chef has small unsanitary work station. Has no hand wash station. NEVER changes gloves. Cross contaminates everything he touches with the same gloves. Long wait, items missing from order. DO NOT RECOMMEND!

Went there for the first time... Got takeout... Teriyaki chicken lunch meal and spicy tuna roll... Food had no flavor... Then got food poisoning from it 🤢. 0 stars on yelp.. And Google. Would not recommend

Got take out " biggest mistake ever." We were left waiting very tired. Table for two came in while we were ordering and they got taken care of by 3 people meanwhile our food came out sometime after that. I was so hungry I tried to eat a spring roll never thought anyone could mess one of them up. It was an inedible hard shell on the outside with spicy mush on the inside greasy cold yucky mush. We went around the corner to golden jade and watched our spring rolls being cooked hot tasty and fresh veggies totally delicious. Then we hoped the meal would be different. while we were happy the meals seemed to be at a safe temp the veg fried rice was old brown rice mushy tasteless couldn't detect it had been near a wok but yet it was greasy. The veggies were palatable tho spoiled by the mushy tasteless mess. Then onto the lemon chicken never new anyone could mess up a battered chicken boy was I wrong. Mushy greasy sloppy chicken inedible sloppy the only palatable part of that dish was the sauce. The egg roll was also greasy cold and inedible Broccoli and chicken bland The hot and sour soup "they forgot the hot" was also bland. 49.00 dollars and we threw the whole thing away. We were robbed. So disappointed. Will never eat there again. Thank God for jade palace or we would have gone without.
