Nice little Los Angeles adventure for lunch! I somehow discovered a cluster of eateries and coffee shops on Google maps in a little pocket neighborhood called Frogtown along the LA river bike path. Parking is really tough to find in this densely packed little neighborhood. Ideally, you’re supposed to bike here. I thought I was looking for a highly rated Mexican food truck next to the river. It turned out to be that Mariscos Za Za Zá is actually a back takeout window of the fancy upscale Mexican seafood restaurant Loreta! What a beautiful large back patio! Other folks seem to know the secret spot. I had a devastatingly delicious shrimp and cheese burrito with a refreshing but potent margarita.
Tried the aguachile and fish taco. Both were delicious but the fish taco was PERFECT. The outdoor seating area is as beautiful as it is peaceful. Can’t wait to come back and try more of the food and drinks. Street parking will probably take some patience unless you get lucky. Valet was a steep $15…tough to rationalize that fee just for lunch.
Very cute, open outdoor space. The food was fresh, creative yet classic and ABSOLUTELY delicious. We had aguachile which was super yummy although not traditionally spicy. The shrimp roll was definitely the showstopper. The cocktails were well made and refreshing.
Mariscos Za Za Za is a hidden gem that transports you to a seaside paradise without ever leaving the city. This outdoor eatery boasts a beautifully arranged layout that creates an intimate and inviting atmosphere. From the moment we arrived, the friendly staff went above and beyond to ensure a memorable dining experience. The menu is a carefully curated selection of seafood dishes that complement each other perfectly. Each bite was an explosion of flavor, showcasing the freshest ingredients and expert preparation. The ambiance is truly special; it felt like we were dining in a friend's backyard, surrounded by lush greenery and a relaxed vibe. Must-tries: Don't miss the tostada bonita and the burrito camaron – both were absolutely delicious! Mariscos Za Za Za is a must-visit for seafood lovers seeking a unique and unforgettable dining experience. I can't wait to return!
This place is amazing! I stumbled upon it while in the neighborhood and was pleasantly surprised to find that they offer valet parking. Despite arriving just five minutes before closing, they were still able to provide me with excellent service. The fish was incredibly fresh and bursting with flavor. I can't wait to visit again!
Better than expected! I frequent Ceviche Project do I'm already spoiled but the stand out was the 'Una Costra Por Favor' look at that cheese bruv.
Love this place! The food, drinks, and atmosphere are all top notch. Highly recommend!

Okay, ngl, the entrance was confusing to find, but once you go in, the vibes are immaculate. The food was amazing, my wife and I shared the mixed seafood cocktail. I had the shrimp burrito. My wife had the tuna birria quesadilla. I liked the quesadilla, but who am I kidding, the burrito was by far the superior menu item. I still have dreams about that burrito. The shrimp had a light batter, and each ingredient was appropriately represented so that you don’t wind up with a mouthful of just one thing. It was perfect. I’d go back just for the burrito.
My second time here. Definitely a favorite. I had the yellow tail and the raw shrimp tostadas both were delicious. It takes me an hour to get here, and I’ll definitely be coming back again.
I had the Dine LA Menu with my family here - the fish tostada is amazing. The back patio is also really pretty.
Amazing food. Highly recommend. Everything on the menu was delicious. Drinks highly recommended. Saffron lemonade with mezcal is superb. Music is great. Vibe is super chill.
Great food, great space. Super chill and relaxed. Went with a bunch of new parents and babies, hung out for a few hours, ideal!
Such a hidden gem! A little confusing to find, but it’s beautiful and the food was SO fresh and delicious. Definitely coming back here :)
such a calming patio, great to bring your doggie. seafood is super fresh, tostada de cameron changed my life
This place is truly exceptional. The staff were incredible as well. The food was some of the best I have had in LA and I have been living here for 9 years.
Very cute spot, that I would return to if I had a random weekday off. When we went there were hardly any other parties so we had no issues finding a seat. The menu has something for everyone. It didn't take long for our order to come out. Portions were bigger than what I was expecting (I was worried they were going to be tapas sized portion, but the yellowtail tostada was quite filling), so I would say that dishes are reasonably priced. My friend and I felt the flavors hit the mark with each dish. In retrospect, I could have ordered just the tostada with my americano and be satisfied. But I am glad to have tried more things on the menu. I would say that the dishes, while savory, leaned more light which I think is perfect for brunch. During our visit, I got the yellowtail tostada, fish taco, and flautas. All were delicious. They also have a milk punch/clarified cocktail that my friend ordered (which are hard to find in LA) and it was also a well balanced drink.

A top 5 restaurant in LA and Santa Barbara counties for me. The Tostada Bonito is one of the absolute highlights of the menu, but everything we’ve ever ordered has been phenomenal. The food is incredible and the service is fantastic, but the space is truly special. It’s the perfect outdoor dining on a beautiful day. Update: removed one star because they will randomly be closed and not update the google listing to say they’re closed. So we drive all the way over with the listing saying they’re open just to get here and there’s a sign saying “closed.”

the food is shockingly mid for the service and price. first of it’s counter order where just one girl is making drinks and taking orders. even just 2 people ahead of you is at least a 10 min wait. after i ordered, all the empty tables out in the courtyard were unbused, and it wasn’t even busy. i sat there for at least 10 min before getting the attention of a food runner who seemed to imply it was a self bussing restaurant? (with these prices??) food came out super staggered. got my tostada then waited another 30 min after finishing for flautas. both were fine but nothing worth coming back for. the drinks are also premixed and nothing to write home about. if you want another drink during your meal, you have to go stand in line for at least 10 min. this place has a beautiful courtyard which is its best selling point. food, service, and THE PRICE ($9 for one taco, $19 per cocktail) for a super inefficient counter order spot is just really frustrating. this spot is buzzing all over the internet and i just don’t really get it!
Man, what a let-down. Not sure how this place has such high ratings. Ordering system is wack: you wait on a long line where just one poor employee is taking all the orders and mixing all the drinks. Its slow. Once you order, you enter the courtyard to see a plethora of unbussed tables and tons of employees standing around looking bored. We took an unbussed table and when we asked the guy who dropped our first dish politely if he could buss it, he had a total attitude. Food is incredibly mid. Overpriced. My $9 fish taco felt cheap and tasted incredibly bland. $14 michelada (with pacifico) was also very bland. $15 auguachile had some lime and a few cucumbers. Guess what? Bland. Time between plates was like 20 minutes. They kept coming back with the wrong dishes and looking confused when I said we didn’t order that. Overall, this is trying to be a high end mexican spot like Salazar or something but all the fod it mid, I think everyone is just confused by the nice courtyard. Go support a taco truck in this neighborhood instead!

Fix your operation. There is one bartender taking all food orders and drink orders, so even if there is only two people in front of you in line, you’re waiting at least 20–30 minutes to place your order. Then you walk to the table and you have to grab your own water, utensils and plates, and finally they run out of items on the menu fast. Not just a couple of items, most of the menu. Not worth money or time. You need to hire an operations manager to fix the logistics of this place
Fool me once, shame on you; fool me twice, shame on me and I won't make the mistake a third time. Twice we have driven to Frogtown to dine at Za Za Za. Having dined at Loreto, we were very excited to try the lunch here. Both times (August and October) we arrived to find a "Closed for Special Event" sign. And ZERO signs of an event. Since there is no way to contact you to verify you are open, why can't you put something up on yelp and google to let people know. Not nice. And you are losing customers. At least I put up a review - who knows how many didn't.
