Avis sur Tham Rab Thai Killeen
Food is good and delicious but next time I’d just order to pick up. The vibe is off to dine in. Not sure why but it feels awkward to sit and eat there. I recommend to not dine in. So you can just enjoy the food
The bowls are Instagram worthy but more importantly they taste amazing, best of both worlds
One of if not the best Thai food in the city. I’ve been going here for years and they have never once served me bad food. Every dish is bursting with flavor and can’t be beat. Try the Thai spice at your own risk it is not for the weak.
We came in on a Monday evening for dinner. The place wasn't crowded at all. I ordered the pork skewers for starters. They were good and cooked quickly. I also ordered the pad Thai chicken. The noodles were cooked perfectly and had a sweet flavor that I'm not used to. I'm used to the flavor being hot but it was good though. Good amount of chicken as well. The portion was enough to fill you up.
Dined here for the first time yesterday. Ordered the beef Pad Thai by recommendation of other reviewers, and the Thai Tea after seeing one brought to another table. The Pad Thai was great, cooked all the way until the sauce caramelized, the edges of the noodles crisped a bit, and it had a full flavor. Many places undercook (I assume to make cleaning the wok easier). I ordered medium hot, and it was sufficiently hot, maybe a 7/10. The Thai Tea tasted fresh brewed, it was rich, had lots of milk and was very sweet. Service was decent, but could have been better, inside of restaurant was a bit underwhelming, half was closed with chairs on tables and boxes of supplies stacked up. This detracted from the atmosphere, but the food was amazing. I've eaten at over 30 Thai restaurants and the Pad Thai here is in my top 5 favorites.
I had not been here in years, but that will change. I forgot how good the food is. We ordered two plates of Duck Pad Thai without peanuts, and it was enough food to eat off three different times. It was so good! I'm looking forward to trying the lobster version next. I also recommend the sauce area. The one with the peppers is my kind of hot. The Thai tea was also on point. They use to have a lunch buffet, that I hope they bring back or still offer. This place is worth every penny.
The ingredients were fresh and high quality. I ordered a summer role. Unfortunately the wrapper was stuck to the plate and it shredded when I tried to pick it up. Usually I dip them in the peanut sauce but here I was trying to grab individual components with my fingers. Without a knife there was no point. So, although this would have tasted amazing (beard on three components), the wrapper was simply too sticky to consume without knife and fork; you do not get a knife. So pad on these maybe. I ordered red curry chicken with bamboo extra spicy. I am happy to report that I considered it spicey. So my first spicey meal in Texas. Highly recommended. I think I usually see this dish named Gang Dang. Drinks are purchased by the can. I know they have come and Dr. Pepper. Unsure what else they have. I wanted to try their Thom Kha Goong (shrimp) but it is a dinner portion. The waiter took time to discuss the menu then left me alone. If I wanted something I needed to go to him. Enjoyed the meal and would come again, enjoyed the food.
We’ve ordered from here more than I can count and let me tell you it’s always on point! We’ve moved from the area and haven’t found another Thai spot to replace Tham Rab Thai! So glad we could get a taste before leaving out again. Miss the old counter guy with the glasses. He was always friendly and suggested the best movies to watch! **I wish I would have gotten the veggie stir Fry glass noodle this time! Get mild because medium will burn a hole in your mouth!
This is literally the best thai food I've ever had in my entire life!! I had the chicken pad thai and my boyfriend had the drunken noodles with tofu. Genuinely this pad thai might be the most delicious dish I've had in my life. And the server said that they have the pad thai in their buffet on weekdays. So we will be back many times. The server was also super nice and I enjoyed talking to him.
I had the yellow chicken curry. I thought it wasn't going to taste good since it didn't look like what I'm use to but it was soooooo good. We also had some kind of soup with onions. Chicken, and mushrooms and it was kind of tangy. Delicious!!!! I'll definitely be back. I also like that you received enough food for the price which was very reasonable.
I really try to go to a place three times before reviewing, but when traveling, what can you do? Based on my one visit, I easily give Tham Rab 5 stars. Their Thai Iced Tea was great, all the more so due to it not being super sweet like some I've had. The summer rolls were huge and delicious. Green Curry is my Thai standard I order the first time I go to any thai place. Tham Rab's green curry is legit and a great portion to boot. I wanted to order the Tom Kha soup, but at almost $10 for a bowl, it was prohibitively expensive (I'm used to $5-7) and out of line with the rest of their very reasonable pricing. There's a lunch buffet, which given my dinner time visit, I cannot comment on with first hand knowledge. The restaurant was clean with little to no ambience or mood lighting. This is probably not a great choice for a romantic dinner. The bathroom was plain, serviceable, and mostly clean (the door could use a good wash.) The sink has actual hot water. If you're looking for delicious thai food and don't care if it's in a fancy environment or not, I definitely reccomend Tham Rab.
Phad thai and bbq pork skewers had great flavor. Portion sizes and presention were lackluster.
The food was fresh and decent tasting. Service was good. We were the only customers. Atmosphere was ok, but there were lots of boxes laying around on the floor and counters. Felt dirty. The drapery on the walls was dusty and needed a good cleaning. Finally, it was very over-priced. $40 for 2 people, NOT including tip! I was shocked! Personally, I didn't think it was worth it.
Most of the food is awesome here but I ordered the Tom Yum Tofu for the first time because I wanted non-spicy coconut soup and I would not recommend it. The tofu is fried and dry. It tasted like days old fried tofu. Fried tofu is not a good combination with coconut soup. The soup was awesome and flavorful, I had to remove all the tofu. 🤢
Plenty of food, and it was good, however the service was well below average. We were the only table, so no excuse. I asked for soy sauce and he pointed to the little table you see in the picture. Seriously? You're supposed to be a waiter. I'm disabled and have a hard time walking so my daughter got up and got it for me. Unacceptable. I don't stiff a waiter.. that is bad karma, so I left him a dollar and a note on the receipt as to why. My daughter was annoyed by the kid screaming that one of the employees brought to work. I realize things happen and it's sometimes unavoidable to bring your kids to work if need be. Not very professional, but should have left the kid in the back or appeased. Not sure why the waiter didn't bring me the billI. I had to hobble up to the register to pay. Again, the food was good and plenty of it, so I would go back again.. I wouldn't hold it against one employee.
My experience at Tham Rab left much to be desired, both in terms of the food and the overall restaurant ambiance. I was let down by the lack of spice in my meal, although I acknowledge that I may have overlooked the need to request spice (I’ve never had to request it at a Thai restaurant though). Specifically, I ordered the pepper steak and was surprised to find that there was no discernible presence of pepper in the dish. The overall flavor struck me as peculiar, which could be attributed to either the absence of pepper or the use of an unconventional sauce. The service, however, was satisfactory. The unappetizing and strangely flavored meal leaves me hesitant about returning to Tham Rab in the future.
I honestly don’t know what their food is like, but the atmosphere and service is trash. I walked out when he said i could sit anywhere and when I sat down at a table he said I needed to reserve a that table. The restaurant was completely empty, I asked what do I have to do to get that table he said call in and reserve a table. I arrived at 5:30pm still early in the afternoon the guy clearly didn’t want nobody in the establishment. I’ll never come and get food from this again, they lost my business and future business here indefinitely.
So disappointed! Still gave it a shot after reading the mixed reviews. The chicken wings tasted old and freezer burnt. The rice looked so good but the smell of burnt rice was overwhelming and I eat with my nose and just couldn’t eat it. I took the rice back and got my money back with no problem. Hopefully when they reopen in April after being closed for a while they are revamping the whole restaurant and getting it together. Hoping for success for the restaurant. *Fingers crossed*
