We were lucky enough to get a seat in the gazebo and it was just stunning views. Service was quite slow but expected on a holiday weekend. Food was excellent! Highly recommend stuffed sole!
Nothing bad to say about this place, great views and great service. Clean restaurant. Definitely a go to coming in town,
Overall a great dining experience! Food was great, our server, Jensen, was very kind and attentive. Dominick, who I’m assuming was the manager, came and checked in on us and he was very sweet. Drinks were yummy too! Some confusion/difficulty around making reservations. When I called, they said they couldn’t take any reservations for the day I inquired about, but then I was able to make one online. Would come back! :)
I really enjoyed eating here and would return if visiting lake George again. I was worried because of some of the reviews but was not disappointed in our choice to eat here. The views were beautiful and the food was delicious. Staff was friendly and attentive from the moment we parked! There was a cozy area to sit in front of the restaurant with a fire going to keep you warm before or after dinner. We had the garlic bread, shrimp cocktail, steak and stuffed sole. The steak was delicious. The shrimp cocktail was fresh and tasty. I enjoyed the sole, the lobster sauce on top of the sole was exceptional, even though the stuffing was mostly breading, I would still order this dish again. The only thing I didn’t love was the garlic bread, found it greasy and didn’t taste any garlic 😂 but granted this is not an Italian restaurant.
Out server Mary was awesome! She made us feel like family. We will definitely be back. Her recommendations were spot on
We had a great dinner here for my moms birthday. The staff is so nice and accommodating. The food was delicious and the views of the lake are stunning. Will absolutely be back.
The Boathouse restaurant on the perfect spot of the Lake George shoreline is more about the atmosphere and natural beautiful that surrounds it. The bar is staffed by the kindest, attentive, and caring group of extraordinary young people. You won’t get better service or conversation when there is a moment for Dane, Sarah, Courtney and the entire group to take a moment to chat. The food is good the company is great! Don’t come to Lake George and miss out on the Boathouse bar!
Always a family fave, and last Friday night was no exception. Come for the great apps and gorgeous location, stay for the ribeye. Wonderful staff, and our server Sarah was fantastic throughout our evening.
Amazing spot especially coming in non the boat. Outdoor bar is killer and the bartenders are super friendly. Great for Sunday Funday.
Took my family of 4 to the Boathouse for dinner and very much enjoyed it. The views are some of the best on the lake and the food was good too. I had the lobster roll and my wife had the Filet. Service was good despite being busy and they had live music too.
I visited over a month ago and I'm still daydreaming about the steak salad. Very nice atmosphere on the lake, they had seasonal drink specials which were yummy and our server and bartender were both a delight.
My wife and I had a wonderful experience. The staff was accommodating and considerate making sure we had one of the best seats in the house for my Wife’s Birthday dinner making the the experience pleasant and enjoyable, right on the lake. Service and food was excellent! Highly recommend!
My family loves this place and we come every year. This year was special because it was my youngest daughter's 1st birthday. When we told the Boathouse staff they went out of their way to make sure we had a great table on the gazebo where we were surprised with a fireworks show and everyone singing happy birthday to her. Great place, great people, great night!
Very happy we came here for lunch. We were sat at a great table outside - the view is so pretty. We did make a reservation however it was not busy when we came. Food was good but the view was even better!
Beautiful views! The food was literally amazing!! I cant say anything bad about this restaurant! The staff we're right away with everything. Did I say the food was AMAZING? Cause im still thinking about it!
My boyfriend and I had dinner here as we were visiting. Service was quick and food was really good! He had the shrimp linguine and I had the Cajun salmon. It was off season so closed earlier around 8p, but we still enjoyed our time! Would love to come back during the day time and try to the gazebo!
Had the best experience and meal here. Super friendly staff greeted us and from there it was all perfect. Views, ambience, menu - all top notch. Windows overlooking Lake George with panoramic views. Started with 2 hot rolls. Delish. Lobster Bisque in a bit different brown based sauce, filled with lobster morsels. Nice selection of wine & beer. Generous pour on the house wine which we selected. Salad had the cuke wasabi dressing, spicy but delish. Chicken Abigail was a very large portion which we split, with shrimp and capers, a very tasty dish. It's not low budget but the quality, quantity and atmosphere were well worth the price. We've paid more for much less of an experience in the Lake George region. I will go back for the Burger and a beer which the next table ordered and it looked amazing. Every staff member was an ambassador level example of hospitality. Can't say enough about the whole night. Really why go elsewhere? We did walk all the way down to the restaurant, but don't let that deter you, drive down and drop guests off if need be!
We had a fantastic meal at the boathouse tonight! The spinach and artichoke dip was the best I've ever had, not too salty and the crostini with garlic oil was the icing on the cake! For dinner my party enjoyed the special Angus burger, which was the correct temperature and tasty. The Cajun pork chop special was exceptional, and the mashed potatoes it came with were fantastic as well! We also enjoyed our drinks and the service was great! The view was beautiful and I'd definitely return if in the area again. Highly recommend. Went back again the next night and just as good! Veal scaloppini was fantastic and so was the shrimp with asparagus & tomatoes!
Excellent food with a great atmosphere and great views of Lake George. Lobster was cooked perfectly and tasted great. The Ribeye was cooked spot on to medium rare as requested. The cajun rub was great and flavorful, did not even need the steak sauce to enjoy the flavor. Our server was awesome she was attentive to our needs.
We had our wedding at The Boathouse, and it was truly the best day of our lives! From start to finish, everything was absolutely perfect. Our guests couldn’t stop raving about the food, the stunning location, and the incredible staff. The entire day felt magical. Jayne is an absolute gem. So kind, responsive, and genuinely committed to making your day feel special. The included planning services from Kate were also a huge help in bringing everything together seamlessly. The food and drinks were out of this world, and the setting was ideal for our intimate celebration of 75 guests. We ended the night with s’mores by the fire and a dip in the hot tub, it couldn’t have been more perfect. Our only complaint? We wish we could relive the whole day all over again. We’ll definitely be back for a vacation soon!
We really enjoyed our meal at the Boathouse. The pork chop was awesome, and the gunpowder shrimp was a great appetizer. The manager Will was very friendly and nice to talk to, while our server Diane was fast and attentive. The views are amazing, and I will be coming back again.
In the two times we have been here this place always over delivers. From the host stand to management pure class. I run restaurants myself, so it takes a lot to wow me. We are now customers for life!
We for lunch last week during octoberfest and had Diane as our waitress. She was friendly and attentive. Great view, a quiet late thursday lunch which we enjoy this time of year, as well as our week stay at The Lodges! I had a chicken sandwich, it was good but needed more seasoning, perhaps next time i’ll ask for it blackened. My husband enjoyed his turkey sandwich but got swiss cheese (he really dislikes swiss) instead of the cheddar he asked for. I encouraged him to speak up which he did and it was corrected promptly.. wine was good! 😉 overall, a nice time ! See you In the spring! 🌷
This was my third time here. The atmosphere is good and even though it is a large open room, it's not super noisy because of all the wood. The view is amazing. The prices are on par for the area, but I hope they don't increase them anymore. We are local and going out to eat is ridiculous around here. I was down state this week and the prices were much more reasonable, which surprised me. Nonetheless, we enjoy it while it's open. Will be sad when it closes for the season.
The atmosphere and view at this restaurant are absolutely beautiful. The space is large and welcoming, perfect for a relaxing meal. I really enjoyed the appetizers, especially the onion soup — full of flavor! The salmon was also very good, though I wish it came with a bit more rice. That said, the portion overall was satisfying. The waitress and host were friendly and helpful, which made the experience even better. Would definitely come back!
Was looking forward to dining at this place because of the views. The views are great. You get to see Lake George and the ships passing by. Other than that the service was subpar, and the food lacked flavor. I had the Caesar salad with blackened shrimp. The caesar dressing was very thin and most of it sat in the bottom of my plate and had little to no flavor at all. The shrimp seemed to have been dropped into the deep fryer then possibly put into a saucepan and had some type of oil/butter and an attempt at seasoning. My wife looked at the salad when it arrived and said “the shrimp look really puffy” mind you she is a vegetarian of 30 years but still knows what blackened shrimp are supposed to look like. She had the Caprese salad which she said was really good. We then tried dessert, which when asked which ones were homemade Lexy replied “all of them” we asked what was in the “Fruit of the Forest “ and she said it was a mix of fruits with no further explanation. We tried it and it was just okay. I know it had strawberries and I think apple and maybe blueberries and/or raspberries. The crust was definitely along the lines of homemade or close to that, but was a little undercooked on the inside. Drink prices are a steep compared to other places in the area, but you pay for the view 🤣. On another note the bathroom art is very interesting!!!!!
Fantastic dinner spot! We kicked things off with the pretzel appetizer—delicious! I had the Bugatti margarita, which was fantastic, and their beer selection was good too. We tried a bit of everything: the salmon salad, clam chowder, and the New York strip—all of which were incredible. The steak was cooked perfectly and melted in your mouth. The staff was friendly and efficient, and we appreciated how quickly they got our order in. Keep in mind, we visited in April during the off-season, so it wasn’t overly crowded. That might change during peak times, but it was perfect for us. What really made the evening special was the view. We had calming lake views throughout dinner—definitely try to get a seat by the windows if you can. Highly recommend this place whether you’re celebrating something or just out for a casual Friday night like we were.
Had a wonderful dinner here with a fantastic view of the lake. The shrimp & lobster linguini was delicious with generous portions of seafood. Flavors were fresh and well-balanced. The garlic bread was also soft and buttery. Tommy also did a great job in assisting us and making sure everything was in order.
Went here for our anniversary dinner. The food was delicious. Yes prices are a little high, but our portions were very substantial and we did not feel that we over paid. I’m sure it has to do with the times we are in and trying to stay viable! Not sure where the negative reviews are coming from, specially in regards to the staff. We where greeted very nicely by the host and our waitress Kelly was top notch. We hope the owners realize the asset she is for their restaurant. Young gentleman that drove the golf cart also asked us how our dinner was. First time there, but will be back next time we are in town!
Food was mostly excellent, service was okay, could have been a bit more but it was alright. I know inflation is real but $14 for a grilled (forgotten) chicken breast is just rude but it was tasty. I recommend the steaks. Key lime pie was kinda meh aside from the crust. Overall good and I recommend it.
Nice place right on the lake. Service was excellent, very attentive, fast with refills and pleasant. The food was good, since it was our first time visiting, it is difficult to elaborate further. We had a great table with beautiful views, it was a tad warm and I know part of the atmosphere is to have open exposure to the lake but when it's hot and not very breezy, I was starting to stick to my chair. I am more of a cool weather cat. Overall a great experience though!
Food and service was great. They were very accommodating for my son’s food allergies. Only one minor thing we didn’t love. Due to the windows being open, it was very warm in there.
Beautiful hideaway restaurant, the service by Diane was superb & the atmosphere was excellent. Right on Lake George with indoor & outdoor seating. The indoor bar is BEAUTIFUL & very RUSTIC. The food was delicious & my steak was cooked just the was I requested. My wife and I will definitely return *****
The food was a little bit on the more expensive side but worth it because of the view!! The general restaurant, atmosphere, food was a 10/10. The people greeting us were a bit rude and our waitress was the best…she tried rushing us out the door and never checked on us. Besides the people, it was fantastic. Got to see the Minnie Ha-Ha steamboat go by. That was epic.
Very family-oriented location. Beautiful view of the lake. Can get very busy due to limited hours yet there's a demand to dine here as this restaurant is on the resort grounds but there are plenty of levels and different experiences based on your seating area. Full menu avaliable wherever you are in the restaurant. Servers do their best and have a lot of ground to cover. The drinks are decent and refreshing. Appetizers are a satisfying yet good stomach opener. My Main entree wasn't what I was expecting in terms of seasonings but I saw the other guests enjoying their food.
I'm giving this place 4 stars only because I believe the prices are too high for what you get. Yes, the food is delicious, but a normal burger is 17 dollars whereas it might be 12-13 somewhere else and just as good. However, the environment is awesome and the ambience is one of a kind. You can't beat the lakefront view from this restaurant!
The location it’s amazing, the service very friendly. The burrata was delicious, but the salmon was very dry, it didn’t taste fresh and very overcooked, it was not pleasant to eat. The meat temperature varied. We came to the conclusion that this place has nice food to be a diner type of establishment because of the quality on their products and their prices should be more adjusted to what they offer
Went here for date night. Love parking in the lot and having a golf cart offer a ride to the restaurant. Sat right in front of the water to get a great view of the boats coming in and going by. We ordered an appetizer the garlic cheese bread it was awesome. I also ordered the seafood bisque, it was the nightly special. Both the cheesey bread and bisque came out fast, the bisque was cold. Very sad and the waiter apologized and offered another at N/C. I accepted as I still wanted it. Next thing a new main course was out with my bisque. Very fast service. Overall the food was ok. Worth the price, no. Service and ambiance made of for it and we enjoyed our date with a killer view. I would go back if in the area.
A Little Pricey for the Lake George Area, but I thought it was totally worth it. Everything we ordered tasted great. We had seating right on the lake with a beautiful view. The service was excellent, from the optional golf cart ride down and back up the steep hill from the parking lot, to the friendly hostess, to the excellent waiter. It was our first visit, but I would love to make it an annual tradition.
It’s clear that the prices reflect the views this restaurant has to offer, but should probably reevaluate given the lack of organization and quality in food experienced by my large party this weekend. I made reservations a month in advance and called to confirm, and upon arrival the staff did not have my reservation in the system. After an hour and a half wait, we were seated and my salmon was served with a hair and several bones in it. We actually had to request ourselves that this be taken off our large bill because this was never offered and no manager was present to speak with or to right this situation!! Very disappointing.
This place is way overrated! The food was subpar and the service wasn’t the best. The server brought out my boyfriend’s soup with no spoon and he didn’t get one until his entree came out. The food was just okay nothing special. We ate outside and there were spiders that kept coming down from the ceiling it was terrible. The views and atmosphere are great but if you are looking for a really good meal on the lake I don’t know that I would choose this spot!
You can’t beat the food and atmosphere. Service was a bit slow. The biggest and most disappointing issue was that my father had previously made a dinner reservation for our family while visiting on vacation. Having found out the date and time for the reservation, I secretly called The Boathouse to arrange for a celebration to surprise my parents for their 51st wedding anniversary. I spoke with the manager who was above helpful and excited to make the arrangements including bringing out a tray of desserts, candles, and gathering several staff members to come out and honor my parents. He confirmed he found the reservation when I called and made notes as to the plan for the reserved night. While eating, my sister went to the hostess stand to confirm the surprise celebration was still “a go.” No notes, no clue, no idea of any of the plans the manager promised a few days prior when I called. In fact, the manager on duty that evening told her, “We don’t do things like that here.” Needless to say, this was tremendously disappointing and the celebration for my parent’s wedding anniversary was less than lack-luster and nothing more than an apology for what my sister and I were left to explain to my most deserving parents was a failed celebration.
My wife and I enjoyed it in years past but were very disappointed this year. The food quality definitely went down and the prices went up. I was quite sticker shocked when we saw the menu and since we had been regularly years prior I did not check in advance. The views are always great and the service was good. That'll be our one trip this year instead of going more frequently. Overall just too expensive for what it is. A burger and frozen french fries was $22. We both got the fillet medallions for $45. I would've expected better sides than half a corn on the cob and a simple baked potato. Just didn't hit the bar of excellence.
Food was very bland. View was amazing. I was extremely surprised when we got the bill while we literally had only eaten half of our dinner. There was nobody else in the restaurant so it wasn’t like they were people waiting for our table. It was just okay. Didn’t feel welcomed.
Beautiful scenery, we sat right near the water and the boats. My daughter loved the ducks that swam by. Service was very slow, I had to walk up the stars to the bar to ask where our drinks were after waiting 20 minutes. Food was okay, we ordered the French onion soup, cheese burger (only cheese, lettuce, and bacon, no onions or pickles to go with it) and my daughter had the grilled cheese. I probably would skip another visit to the boathouse and try a different place but if you're in the mood for good country music, beautiful scenery and a quick bite, boathouse will work!
It was a good meal, not great. They left the tails on in the shrimp pasta. It made it awkward to eat without getting your hands in there to remove those unappetizing bits. The garlic was a little overpowering for my taste but he liked it. There was a piece of lobster shell in the lobster sauce on my baked, seafood stuffed sole. And the seafood stuffing was mostly breading. We really liked our drinks. He had a Jack and Coke. I had the Diamond Point sunset. The view was nice.
We were staying at the Lodges at Cresthaven, this was the most convenient choice for restaurant, and it had an incredible view of Lake George. Ambiance and overall location is top notch, I just can’t say the same for the food. We ordered the red snapper entree, and I had the crab stuffed sole special of the day. Came with rice pilaf and a cauliflower/broccoli vegetable medley. Service was nice and fast. I just wanted a bit more luxury for the price we paid.
Nice atmosphere, busy. Ordered the black and blue steak salad. Ordered steak medium, and it came out, medium rare and cold like it was sitting in a fridge. The bacon on it was all clumped and cold. The menu states it comes with a blue cheese dressing and there was none to be had. Waitress insisted that it did not come with blue cheese dressing even though it states it on the menu. After I sent that back, I got the lobster roll special. It came out within three minutes, The fries were cold and the roll was cold and crunchy like it was a messed up order just waiting to be given to someone else. Warm fresh dinner rolls were cold fresh dinner rolls. I understand they were busy but when you’re paying $40 for a salad, you would expect it to look edible. I do not like these restaurants that the server comes over with their little gadget and stares at you waiting to pay your bill on their handheld device. Nice ambience, but will not return.
The service was slow, be that's a factor of bad distribution of services and bussers. Our party of four sat at the bar, and decided to order dinner there. The bartender had to do double duty at the bar, and about 8 four tops. As we were there the room was full after we had ordered and it took 45 minutes to get our food because the bartender had to go to the kitchen to bring our food for every order. The menu was small but had a good selection of standard resort area dishes. I ordered a ribeye rare, and it was medium at best. So for service I'd say great, for food I'd say meh.
To be honest, we were slightly disappointed with our night at the boathouse restaurant. For a highly rated restaurant, we expected better dishes. The Jaeger snitzle was very nice (Oktoberfest special), but shrimp linguine was okay at best. The pasta dish was drowned in sauce and tastes nothing out of the ordinary. The service was good, people we're respectful and timely for a busy night.
Beautiful restaurant with such a cool ambiance and great views but the food was SO mediocre. Caesar salad was decent. Caprese salad was average - rotten lettuce pieces and underripe, hard whole grape tomatoes tossed in. Such a shame when tomatoes are so in season right now - it was not a good salad. My friends steak was cooked well, probably the best thing we ordered. Marry me chicken was again just ok, nothing special. The baked stuffed sole was a joke - do not recommend. Clearly frozen baked sole stuffed with mystery seafood (basically just breadcrumbs). Menu said “topped with lobster sauce” and I kid you not it was topped with a piece of melted cheap cheddar cheese, most definitely not lobster sauce. Food was so underwhelming for the price. Go here only for the views and just get a drink maybe an appetizer.
Newly renovated, I was hoping and even expecting a quality dining experience. Instead, the food wasn't well prepared or executed. Service was mediocre. French fries are obviously frozen, pretzel appetizers didn't come with grainy mustard as stated on the menu. When I asked for it, the server looked puzzled and came back with yellow mustard in a cup. My salad came with wilted leaves. The grilled chicken was very overcooked. This place could be so much better if they simply invested in offering a quality experience instead of relying on being a location with a view.
We were a party of 6 which included 2 children. Our dining experience started when they couldn’t find our reservation. When we made the reservation we requested inside; girl said ok. We were seated in the lower outside level in the hottest possible spot right next to the beach. There was no silverware and provided reluctantly after requested. The sun was beating down on us with no air circulating… it was like a sauna. The food was mediocre and the overall experience was a poor value for the cost. Beware.
My husband and I rarely (as in less than once a year) go out to spend the money we did on this dinner out. We don’t have it in our normal budget so this was a huge splurge for our wedding anniversary and my birthday. Our waitress was nice enough but we hardly saw her and had to flag her down for the missing side sauce for my appetizer after she dropped it off and ran. We ordered dinner and again, she literally dropped it off in a huge hurry and we didn’t see her until we were done eating and needed to go boxes. She had a large table seated after us and as soon as that happened, it was clear that we didn’t seem to exist to her and it was like we were an after thought at best. It was overall pretty disappointing and frustrating that we spent $167 for a meal that was ok, but not fantastic and the fly by service was awful.
I wish the food was better but it has declined a bit since our last visit. Service level could be much higher too in the restaurant. Having said that the outside bar team is exceptional.
Had high expectations for the boathouse but sadly we left very disappointed. We booked weeks in advance for a table of 8. When we arrived they had not got our table ready and we had to wait 30 minutes. We were finally be sat downstairs in corner right next to an ongoing wedding reception. It was very busy with people from the wedding group coming and going, singers/ speeches so we couldn’t actually here each other. Service was very slow took another 30 minutes to get our drinks. Food was okay but nothing special. I had the pork chop with mash, mash was obviously just microwaved and still was in one ball shape from the container. Only two bathrooms for the entire restaurant so had to que each time, or we were offered to use the porter potty outside. All in all I would not go back. Suggestion to the management to just block off the entire bottom of the restaurant if you’re hosting a wedding reception down there. Felt like our experience was cheapened by your greed of maximising tables. The wedding group would have also benefited from the extra space.
Food was delicious, the view and grounds are remarkable our waitress was horrible!!! We were celebrating two birthdays that we mentioned 3 times to the waitress!!! Closing time was approaching and dinner was done. We were asked if we wanted anything else which we asked for cappuccino to only be told the coffee station was closed. One would think the waitress would tell us that before the station closed down. The waitress had one focus only and it was to get out of there and rushed us which ruined the entire experience. We had to ask for a dessert menu which she was not happy about. Desert comes she places it down and no candle nothing to celebrate our two family member’s birthdays!!!!! We also called the restaurant one week prior when we made the reservation to make them aware of our celebration. Stop rushing customers it is extremely rude and unacceptable especially when your table is a big check for 6 people. Train your staff to do the right thing.
Friendly, courteous staff and a nice location. There was a really cool bar with great view of the lake and a nice tap list. The food was a real let down. Three cheese bread appetizer tasted like it was frozen. Steak was served well done rather than medium as ordered, entrees were served with boiled zucchini as the side, and swordfish was funky. I would come back here to have drinks but not for food.
We have been coming to the Boathouse for many years and wanted to introduce it to a friend this year. We booked reservations more than a week out requesting the outdoor gazebo area and didn’t get it. When I asked the hostess why since we booked over a week out, she gave me a snarky attitude and said that people book that months in advance. Ok, fine but I don’t need the attitude because I didn’t give one. For food, it was just okay. My daughter and I ordered the Chicken Sierra and the chicken was extremely dry. We couldn’t eat it. My wife ordered a shrimp dish and loved it though. Sadly, it’s not the same experience that we used to enjoy.
First time. Last time. Food was your basic overpriced tourist menu which I expected but didn't expect the food to be as bad as it was. I doubt I caught the entire restaurant on a bad night. Where my family was seated downstairs was extremely dirty. The shrimp dishes we ordered were not well prepared and not eaten. The two young men working near my table actually ran at fairly quick speeds back and forth across the deck all night which made my entire experience unenjoyable. Especially while we were eating. I wasn't sure if they were being dramatic and overdoing it to show people how hard they were working so people felt bad for them to get better tips or truly had no idea how to wait tables and were deep in the weeds the entire night. It wasn't terribly busy when I was there either.
Cold soggy fries and lobster with a strong fishy taste, unfortunately. -- Ordered a $30+ late lunch and was presented with soft, cold, stale fries and strong smelling lobster. The picture looks fantastic, but the meal was difficult to eat and I did not finish nor take home. Stars given for the terrific view and waiter's personality.
Whoo boy, what a difference a year makes. Last year, our meal at the Boathouse was our favorite one during our week in Lake George. This year, it was far and away our most disappointing. We went on Wednesday at just after 6 and found the place to be dead, so much so that the three women at the hostess stand all commented on how uncharacteristically empty they were. We asked to be seated on the lower level by the docks and were easily accommodated. Despite the lack of customers, service was extremely slow and inattentive. We ordered drinks, and the water was forgotten. We asked for crayons for the kids while the water was retrieved, and the crayons were forgotten. When our server returned to take our order, the crayons were forgotten again. Eventually I just walked back upstairs and got them myself (each crayon is a different color on each side to cut down on waste and they're triangular so they won't roll, so at least that was cool!). Once the food arrived, the disappointment continued. My chicken schnitzel was covered in a terribly salty red wine bordelaise. While certainly not inedible, it just wasn't very good. I can only assume that all that extra salt in the sauce was to make up for the completely unseasoned vegetables and fingerling potatoes. Again, not inedible, just terribly bland. As much as I was disappointed by the chicken, my wife's lobster roll was far worse. Last year's impressive serving of huge pieces of claw and tail meat was just a distant memory, replaced by a mess of what was either body meat filler or imitation lobster meat with two or three paltry scraps of decent meat that was absolutely drowned in mayonnaise, despite the fact that the menu states it is dressed in a "light lemon dressing." Now, I know a lot of people engage in some pretty hefty hyperbole when writing reviews, but I make this claim in complete and utter seriousness: this lobster roll was inferior to Wawa's former Seafood Salad subs. Charging $25 for that embarrassment should be criminal. We might have said something to our waitress, but despite the lack of customers, she was nowhere to be found until it was time to drop the check, and she didn't bat an eye when she saw the almost entirely uneaten sandwich on my wife's plate. So, that's how the Boathouse managed to go from first to worst in our experience. Based on just how bad things were this meal, I doubt we'll be back again. 2 stars for the view, 0 for the food and service.
Didn't have a good experience. We sited and there was water spilled on the table and on one of the chairs. When I got my soup, my spoon was dirty. Then I found a hair on my water. It has a beautiful view of the lake and the waiter was very nice but the food wasn't good unfortunately.
The hits: great view. Nice atmosphere. The misses: food absolutely terrible. Diner food quality. Water was not palatable and ordered soft drinks in trade. Service: absolutely ignored. Salad came out well after entrees.plastic utensils but cloth napkins…?? WTH!? Pricing was not comparable with quality of food. Not even close. Would like to say they just had a bad run of things tonight but not with the amount of misses all at same time.
I always try my hardest to give the benefit of the doubt but tonight was a rough one. Steak order came wrong- different cuts given and different temperatures they were all cooked at. Ie asked for medium rare got well done. The waiter and the end just brought the bill without asking for dessert. We felt rushed and pushed out. On top of it, it was my birthday celebration and felt too uncomfortable to order any sort of cake to blow out my candles. Last note the waiter kept on calling my mom “me lady” a little strange. Final remarks food was relatively not good, service was bad. The view is great but ultimately bill came to $100 per person. Would not suggest coming here if you appreciate your hard earn money and valuable memories with your family. Disappointing.
We have eaten here many years ago, and the food was not great. We decided to try it again tonight as we were staying at the lodges.I ordered the grouper which was recommended, It was cold and half cooked, covered in frozen vegetables. Sent it back to be cooked, and came back once again with a plateful of frozen vegetables. Wondering what school their chef graduated from, don’t go for the food. The bus boy / server was young and inexperienced also our server, we thought it was unfair to put 2 untrained servers work the same tables. I’m sure they will be great by the end of the season, but it would have been helpful if they had a seasoned waiter/ waitress show them the ropes. The views are beautiful, maybe drinks and appetizers.
We called for reservations traveled from New Jersey,, We were celebrating 10 yr anniversary.. we requested alcove or window view of lake,, we were told we couldn’t reserve a window or alcove table because they were first come first serve ok fair,, when we arrived we were told no table by the window once again disappointed but ok.. now we are sitting waiting no service probably almost 10 minutes ok .. a table clears in the alcove my husband went up and asked the hostess if we could be moved to that table being we were not served yet not even drinks.. and her answer was I cannot that table is reserved now my husband is pissed off and tells her awe had reservations for a window seat and were told first come first seated ,, nothing so now still waiting on a waitress witch fine ok the next table opens up by the window so my husband once again goes up to the hostess to ask if we could have that table ,, once again she told him that table is reserved,,, well now we should have walked out because we are both upset but we didn’t finally waitress comes we get drinks order food witch I didn’t eat it was tasteless so was my martini ,, worst part waitress brought everything out at once ,, bad,, then we got dessert.. tasteless,, and bill together but now sitting there waiting over 10 minutes to pay and had to call waitress because she must have forgotten we were there ,,, moral of my review how do you not reserve tables near windows but then people come in and we’re seated there ,,Very unprofessional how your patrons are treated,, you probably don’t care but we will not return…
I always liked this place. Every time I go to Lake George, I go there to dinner for views and a nice atmosphere; however, this year, when I went for dinner, I got to be seated at the bar area and served raw burger. After I asked for it to be cooked more , the waitress offered to replace it with a new one , which I thought was very nice. After the new burger arrived, I lightly pressed on the edge to make sure it was cooked, but as soon as I started eating, I realized it was as raw as first one, the picture is attached. The experience was very disappointing. It's a shame, I certainly won't return. Hopefully, this gets fixed.
The restaurant has a great atmosphere and a good view. However, I ordered the NY Strip Steak and they forgot my steak so it was delayed. Then, once I got my steak, IT WAS RAW. I couldn’t believe. I sent it back not once but THREE more times!!! Once i got it back for the fourth time, it was still RAW, so I decided to take it back to house and cook it MYSELF! Then, my brother ate the wings and had to take a walk because his stomach was on fire. Oh did i forget to mention, my brother couldn’t even look at his steak from the stomach ache that he had, and guess what his steak was RAW!!! Overall, boathouse has a nice view but DONT judge a book by its cove. I am VERY upset and my brother is in a lot of pain.
Absolutely terrible!!! $18 for a pint size daiquiri!!! Blandest food I have ever had. Overcooked burger to well...asked for medium...under cooked fries, giant bread for buns. Great view though.
I asked for service and was shown to a table, but no one came over to offer me anything. It was clear they didn't want to serve me since there were only a few people there when I arrived, and they served everyone very quickly. It was a very bad experience. I waited for over 30 minutes until I decided to leave. I wanted to ask if you don't like serving Hispanic people? Because that's what I'd be led to believe.
Arrived on time for a dinner reservation, ordered drinks and an appetizer. The server didn't check in often and had to be stopped to ask for additional drinks, which one was forgotten (only 4 of us). Ordered entrees, only to wait an hour before the manager came over to apologize and said it would be up shortly. 30 minutes later we had to call the manager over again to say we were leaving and disappointed in our server literally hiding when the manager came to our table and not receiving any food except for the appetizer. As locals, it will be a while before Boathouse gets tried again. If we were here as out-of-towners I would put it on the permanent "no go" list.
The front desk and reservation staff seemed barely out of middle school. Quite unprepared and completely lacking any sense of hospitality. The poor welcome set the tone for our evening. Boathouse deserves a better first impression.
This was one of the worse experiences, we ordered Veuve Clicquot, had to point it out because the waitress was clueless, she brought a single serving bottle of Prosecco. When we told her that was not what we ordered she left the glasses and returned to tell us they did not have it. She still left the glasses the entire time and we ordered drinks. I ordered the Stuffed salmon with crab meat and there was a ssuce that was congealed. The liquid was running under the French fries which made them soggy and cold. No one checking in on us to ask us about condiments for the fries. I had to walk around myself and found salt and pepper. When I told her it was the worse meal ever she said sorry and got the bill for us. My dish was $35.00 with no manager or anything for the awful dish. I was still charged fully and ate less than half. The views are beautiful lol.
My son and I came here a few weeks ago to get steak and pasta. We ordered to go. The quality of food was awful. My steak was mostly fat. My son’s palms were sweaty after his spaghetti didn’t include the breadstick it was advertised with. His spaghetti was just noodles with not even enough sauce to cover the portion. Maybe this place is nice if you’re dining in?? Either way worst $70 I have ever spent on a meal. I take my family to Lake George at least once a year and I will never come to this location to waste my money ever again.
Our server told us "have a nice life," on the way out. Both steaks we ordered were cooked differently (despite both being ordered mid-rare). When our server checked in with us, we were asked (aggressively) whether there was something we wanted to say. We declined, opting not to wait for a new steak to be refired to replace the overcooked ribeye, and more than a little perturbed by the way the question had been asked. The ducks and view were the best part about this place. Based on the service and inconsistency in food, I would encourage you to spend money elsewhere.
Paying for the atmosphere & the view. $90 for lunch for two. No alcohol. Two coffees. One appetizer. Two burgers. The inside of the french fries were still frozen. Sent them back, they brought new ones. Sat up to our elbows in dirty dishes for a long time. Bus boy? Bus girl? Both walking around as if they had been on heavy duty sleeping meds. The poor waitress, middle-aged at best, was working her tail off, with these young kids walking around comatose. Unreal. Manager comes over, all smiles, I told him what a difficult experience we were having, e.g. May I have another creamer, please? Is there a sugar bowl? I prefer artificial sweetener. Do you have those handy wipes for the wings? May we have some more napkins please? Pardon me...pardon me can you refill our ice water please? Sitting in the dirty dishes for 20 minutes was the last straw. We’ve stayed at this resort. It’s gorgeous. But the restaurant is horrendous, but pretty. everythin on Lake George is pretty.
Worst restaurant I have ever been to. Looks fancy from the lake but a big disappointment once you enter. We went there for dinner and they told us to make a reservation for the next day. So we did it for an outside table. The next day we were seated in a room with empty tables, behind dirty plexiglass with millions of flying insects. We ordered appetizers: shrimp cocktail 5 pieces in glass filled with ice and strange looking lettuce for $17 , marinated shrimps 5 pieces on toasted bread also $17. I won't say a word about the house salad which was poorly made and looked unappetizing, the garlic bread was a big misunderstanding. The only good thing was a glass of local beer until a bug landed in to it. Nobody even offered a replacement. Don't waste your time and money for that place👎
The overall experience was poor. Waiting for a table, I saw a waitress laying into a hostess. When we sat down, we waited for a server for 10 minutes with no one coming by, and then the waitress came by and said I will be with you in a minute. We waited another 10 minutes without ordering drinks or water. By this time, we knew what we wanted, and the kids were getting ready to eat. The waitress seemed to be taking care of her regular clients. The food was not worth what we paid. The scallops were uncooked and couldn't be eaten. The waitress even said that they looked raw. If she knew that, then she shouldn't have served them. The crab dip was fishy tasting, my chicken dish was okay, and the shrimp dish was chewy. The pork chop was the best thing we had. We live on the lake, and I'm not sure we will be back. The view is fantastic, just wish the food and service could be the same.
