Great Food and Great Price!

The food was plentiful except the potatoes (home fries) they were still raw in the middle. They had great service, good parking and it was very clean.

Me and my boyfriend went to this place for a breakfast meal jurring lunch and the service was lovely the waitress was so friendly and sweet and the prices were extremely reasonable. Im gluten-free and had eggs and sausage and wasn't sick ❤

We were looking for a place to have breakfast in Malone that wasn't McDonald's and this one popped up. It was excellent! We will remember for next time we are coming through town.

We stopped in here after 4th ride and we had Elizabeth for a waitress and we loved her. Amazing food as usual for the delmonico and ribeye steaks. We come here a couple times a year. Forgot to take pics this time as I was hungry. Quiet during the week lunch time. Fri and Sat nights are prime rib special nights.

SO and I were in the area for a wedding, and went here for breakfast bc another small-town restaurant turned out to be permanently closed now. We decided to "settle" on Holser's because the next closest non-fast food breakfast spot was something like 9mi away. "Settling" is actually not a fair term for this place. As soon as we rolled up, we noticed that the parking lot was packed - which is a good sign. It's a "walk-in, seat yourself" place and the waitress stopped by with menus and for a drink order within a minute or two. I believe our server's name was Teri - she was super sweet (and patient!) while I tried to decide on what I wanted, and was helpful and attentive (without being overbearing). Both my SO and I were honestly super surprised by how good the food was. We're coming from lower NY with some really awesome food establishments so we do have our standards set. The restaurant offers delicious homemade bread, the OJ tastes like it's fresh squeezed (not sure if it is or not but if it *is* from concentrate, that's a really good sub), the omelets and home fries were perfectly seasoned, and getting a side cup of sausage gravy for dipping was a good choice. I'm perpetually concerned that I'm not going to get enough food to satiate my appetite so I always over order, but tbh the omelet plate was just enough to satisfy without leaving me overstuffed and wasting food. We noticed they advertise a Sunday breakfast buffet, so we'll definitely be back tomorrow. Thoroughly impressed, and, although I can't weigh in on lunch options, if you're in the area you should definitely stop by for breakfast.

This is easily one of the best places to eat in Malone! From the great food, to the friendly service, to the amazing atmosphere, there's no contest that you won't be disappointed with this place! I just had breakfast here, and everything was just fantastic. No matter what time of the day or what meal you eat here, you definitely can't go wrong with a place like this!! If you're ever in the Malone area with an empty stomach, give this place a visit. You'll be glad you did.

My go-to for breakfast! It's also my perfect place for a hot turkey sandwich. Delicious food all around. Chrissy is one of the nicest waitress I've ever met. I've never had a bad experience!

Great atmosphere, comfortable, staff is very inviting, the food is traditional home cooked meals. I had the spaghetti and meatballs. Meatballs were good. Sauce was classic. All in all a great stop.

The food is amazing! Was looking for a good sit-down restaurant in the city while we were here. Their homemade toast and muffins were great! They had a very good plethora of food options, especially for breakfast.

Found this place to eat on our street in Malone during a trip to motorcycle trip Niagara. Food was great. Everyone in the group was very happy with their meals. Beyond that though was the service we received from Claire and Alex. They were awesome and took great care of us. We also got a visit from Mrs. Hosler. Very nice 👍🏼

I had a yummy farmer's breakfast with a side of great family atmosphere and friendly service. If I lived in the area I would be a regular.

We visited on a Wednesday afternoon. The restaurant was moderately busy but not so crowded that my mom felt uncomfortable. (She's 74 and at high risk for Covid complications.). Lots of room between tables and patrons seat themselves so we were able to pick an empty corner. The service was quick and friendly and food was very nice for a lunchtime diner experience. It was not noisy and there were no annoying TV s blaring during the meal.

My husband and I stopped here on Memorial Day as we were traveling through. We were hungry and grateful something was open. They were busy and the food took a while, but we were warned about that by our server. It was worth the wait. The food was delicious and the quantities were large. Not sure what the other critical reviews were about. This isn’t fine dining people! This is a home town family diner style restaurant and it does that extremely well. At an incredibly good value too. If we are in the area again, we would come back here.

Today we enjoyed the chicken vegetable soup, the goulash, and the Reuben sandwich. The soup was especially hearty and tasty. Desserts were tasty but likely not made on site.

We've been there a couple times. Very friendly service. Portions are filling. Like that they offer a salad bar. Also like the format of the place. Two rooms to dine in. You can choose to be near the bar or not. We'll dine there when in the area again.

This is my 2nd time stopping here. Much better than the last. I ordered a broiled fish dinner and it was very good. Service was great and will stop again.

Great place great food! Just wish it was a little more wheelchair Accessible it is to get into the restaurant but to get to a table is so hard because the tables are so close to together so there’s not a big enough walkway.

Basic diner with options for all types of eaters. It was a bit cold and quiet and it feels maybe a little disjointed? Maybe some music would be nice instead of TVs. Still, food was good and we enjoyed ourselves.

Food was excellent. Poor behavior between waitress and dishwasher that caused a small scene. Overall did not effect our good experience. Suggest switching two employees jobs for a day so they could better understand each others concerns regarding argument.

The food was awesome! I liked the staff, the bathroom cleanliness, the prices. The waitress we had was nice & lovely but when I wanted larger napkins (not the flimsy ones that are a waste because you couldn't wipe your finger off with just one of those things you'd have to use several just to get residue off let alone to actually clean yourself!) She brought the 1-ply folded small napkin. I understand you want to save money, probably the planet, too. But offering me something that doesn't get the job done just causes me to use more which is much more wasteful than giving me a proper plied & sizable napkin. She then asked why I had 2 more addtn'l silverware wrapped in napkins. She said, 'because if you need bigger napkins I can bring you some' - all while holding her hand on the ones I had which made me perceive it to be that she was going to return those wrapped silverware to the bin to be handed out to future customers. I didn't think that was a good idea: to allow them to touch a new table, touched by another customer & to return them to the silverware bin to be given to more people after those had already contaminated the rest of the ones in the bin anyhow!? It's not so gross that it'll keep us from returning but not considerate enough for pasing along cleanliness. But... I wasn't expecting upscale fine dining, either. We'll return if we're in the area again!

Staff is super friendly, service is quick, food came out fast. Plenty of seat options. Sarah has to be our favorite server, always friendly and remembers our faces.

Stopped here for lunch with a few friends once. We ordered burgers. They were alright.. Just make sure you order topping on them or else it'll come plain. Is that an American thing? Staff was nice.. We'd most likely go back.

It certainly wasn't a bad experience! The staff was super friendly, and the food came quickly. But you get what you pay for—good food, just not great. There are no real issues.

Food was pretty decent, for a good price. My husband and I got a burgers with fries. Our service was even better! Our waitress was a young girl but very nice, had answers to all our questions, threw in some humor making her very easy and fun to talk to. Interacts with her customers (us, and the others she was taking care of) rather than just writing down what they want and bringing it to them. By herself in a large dining room and still did excellent. Checked on us consistently to make sure everything was okay. Better waitress than most adults. Way to go Ava!

A decent place to get breakfast in Malone. On the morning we went, it was pretty busy and it took a very long time to get service and also our food after putting our order in which is surprising since it's breakfast food. However, everything was tasty, especially the pancakes, and the waitress was very nice. Prices were great too. Would be 5 stars if it didn't take so long to get our food.

Once passed the sewer smell it's not bad. Service is excellent, the plates look great, if you are on a low-salt diet you must avoid the chef salad.

Usually have an excellent dinner here. Stopped last night and it was fair to horrible. The waitress couldnt get the order straight, spilled half the salsa and never offered to replace it, delivered nachos that were buried in onions even after both of us asked her to make sure that they were omitted. The replacement nacho was obviously slapped together, it came to the table a sloppy mess. Won't be going back for a LONG time. Guess its gonna have to be KFC when we pass through Malone. Too bad too, cause the prime rib here is usually very good...the salad bar is a joke, but.....its just salad. I'd be afraid to eat it anyway.

It was the textbook picture of a great all American diner. With a hearty selection of good food. The only bad point is the food is just average. There's nothing that has just popped to me. But I will say that they do an awesome chicken and biscuits that usually sells out every Thursday. Get there early because you might miss out! Great job hoslers!!!

Fair service, never asked us if we would like dessert after meal, just handed us a bill. Burgers where bland, but there Fry's where excellent. Poutine was great as well. Atmosphere was very inviting and welcoming. Will eat there again just not burgers.

Nice lil place. I would need to try more from the menu. That's all I could say right now. The salad was good. What you would expect. The meatloaf was pretty big. And the hot turkey dinner was smothered. It's a 3 start just cause I didn't get to test the menu

Decent priced options for decent food. Nothing spectacular I can really say, but nothing bad about it either. Stopped in for lunch to meet family, had a decent lunch, wasn't rushed to get the table for other customers which was nice. Food was moderate but nothing worth noting. I would stop here again but wouldn't be opposed to other options in the area either if asked.

The breakfasts available at hostler's family restaurant are really good. My husband really likes their Monte Cristo sandwiches and they have homemade specials and a bar. This business also caters.

I came here on a date just to get a dessert and we got chocolate cake type dessert. It was not good. The service was fine. It was strangely empty and had a weird vibe inside though.

I’ve ate here and I’ve had take out. I rather eat there than take out. They just throw your food together when you do take out. We paid over $80 just for them to undercook my sons fries, overcook my husbands fries, barely gave me potatoes with my steak (you get more when you eat there), they put the smallest amount of cheese on the nachos and barely any tomato and anything. The food was just tossed together. We were highly disappointed. We probably won’t order take out ever again from here. As for dinning in here, it’s not to bad but could be better. Sometimes it’s not worth what you pay. It’s a kinda decent place to eat out if your not look for anything fancy or far. The waitresses seem miserable most times and are snobby and just not pleasant. We get a good waitress once in awhile. It’s just been very disappointing lately.

Had French toast and sausage links. French toast was barely warm like it was precooked and then warmed up. Ordered 2 sausage links and got 3. Was then told it comes with a minimum of 3. Why??? At over a dollar apiece I definitely would have preferred 2. Plus some of us are cutting back on our portions in order to lose, or maintain, our weight. Waitress was very good!

Giving 2 stars because of the polite young waitress. Who would put BLT's on the printed menus and not keep tomatoes in stock?? Even the Chef Salad was poor.

Service was good. Waitress pleasant. We ordered the Taco Burger Special. Nothing special about it. Burgers are pre-pressed, looked and tasted like they came from frozen. Also did not taste like anything to do with Tacos or Mexican in the slightest. So heavy with the sour cream that the bun became soggy and eating it was a dripping mess. Fries were good but there wasn't one over and inch and a half long. Felt like the kitchen could have cared less about sending out quality food. I ended up with diarrhea after getting home. Depressing.

Where do I start. I rarely give a bad review because I would rather just walk away, but we were really disappointed eating at this place. First off when we got there it looked really nice, very inviting. Got inside, nice greeting, seat yourself. You can see the specials on the wall, kind of cool. The waitress was very nice, and very accommodating. But that’s where the fun ended. I inquired about the ribeye special that I saw on the blackboard at the entryway and the waitress said let me check I think we only have two left and I don’t think it qualifies as a special if we have three or less left. OK well I found that weird but she came back and said the ribeye special was $24. When I asked her how come the special is $24 but the actual price on the menu is 18, she just shrugged and says I don’t know. Anyway, rather than go with the special we chose to order the house steak, which I believe was a 10 ounce Delmonico. Ordered medium well, it came out and you could see there was a giant blob of fat the size of a half dollar in the Center. After trimming the rest of the meat there was less than half the steak left over. Mind you, it tasted good however who wants to pay $17 for 4 ounces of meat that is just OK. Oh, not to mention the frozen vegetable medley that they barely warmed to go along with the steak. When the manager cook chef whoever was the person that they sent out to discuss this with us, he just shrugged his shoulders and said well that’s just too bad because that’s the way they sent us the meat. I asked if there was anything we can do to fix this, and he just said no it’s kind of just the way it is. So I told him plainly that I would be happy to post a review with his comments and he just shrugged his shoulders and said whatever and walked away. If you’re local and you like this place, it’s probably because you don’t order the steak. Some of the other dishes we saw come out looked very inviting. Good luck with this one.

Waitress was not attentive. My omlette is always messed up when I come for breakfast, but the waitresses are too busy hanging out to return it half the time.

Well maybe breakfast is good, but dinner was edible I guess. The side of meatballs were the worst I had in my life. The chicken parm. Was thin and overcooked. A Salmon dish was clearly overcooked and tasteless. The server was nice but new, and had no idea what she was doing.The atmosphere is not just simple but simply dumpy.

The wait staff did fine and the wait for the food was okay. The spot prepared for our large family was perfect. However, the food was unbelievably mediocre, bland, and low quality. The baked potato tasted horrible (like it had been baking for days) and the cooked vegetables were overdone and tasteless. My son absolutely hated the fried chicken and forced himself to swallow it. He said it tasted like supermarket fried chicken thrown in an air fryer. The French fries were somehow simultaneously soggy and burnt. The fried mozzarella sticks clearly came out of a box and were also air fried. My daughter said the roast beef was making her sick. The only things that tasted good were the broiled fish and the side salad. We spent way too much money on frankly terrible food. It's so important for this community to have a decent family restaurant to support. This place seriously needs to step up its game. So disappointed.

After reading all the reviews, I decided to try it. Bought bkfst buffet: waffles undercooked/sausage links overcooked/ eggs/homemade home fries/bacon were good/hot cocoa too chocolaty and size for a kid. Not enough food selection for buffet & not worth $14.71 bkfst buffet/cocoa. 3 waitresses for full dining area. Photos show bkfst buffet/hot cocoa size/day & wk specials. Sorry not impressed for a traveler diner but probably best as diner for locals.

Well, food hasn't arrived yet, so I can't comment on that, so I'll start with this. The owner or manager guy was moving tables for a large group, stopped mid-job and shoved his hand down the back of his pants to pull up his underwear... A sight I shall never be able to un-see. You may ask if he went to wash his hands... Not in the next 10 minutes where he continued to rearrange the tables and order the servers around to clean up the floor (which needed it) and comment about something on the floor looking like a pile of hair. We ordered a fish fry and a turkey club sandwich. The fish was over cooked and dry, but the fresh cut fries were delish! The turkey club was huge and had an ample amount of bacon (many places scrimp), but the cheese was that nasty american cheese that isn't really cheese. Overall the turkey club was ok, the bacon could have been drained and cooked a bit before putting it on the sandwich as there were puddles under the sandwich and the lettuce was cooked in places. Presentation was nice. Our server paid much more attention to the locals. Too bad, she might have gotten a better tip if she had checked in and then actually brought the napkin I asked for and a glass of water. Next time we're in town, not coming here.

Had the prime rib special, yuck. Service was ok but prime rib had 4oz's of fat. Macaroni salad was straight from Walmart deli and mashed potatoes tasted like instant. Worst 25$ meal in a while.

It was probably my fault for ordering a steak but I was so unsatisfied! The corn tasted like canned corn. The steak was I took one bite! I ended up paying $30 for the worst meal I’ve ever had!

They did not sanitize the menus or the tables. None of the workers were wearing mask. Sorry but with the covid going back up they should be more careful. Food was good except bacon was cooked in old grease.

We went here for for the first time and it was my 50th Birthday. The prices are way to high and the service was awful !! As far as the kids menu goes for $5.49 for a hot dog and a juice you don't get fries or mac & cheese with it no chips, unless you buy it to add to it . The waitress kept forgetting everything, we had to keep asking her to remind her . The salad bar , if that's what you call it sucked !! the layout of the place reminded you of a school meeting room, very gloomy and uninviting ,no color and brightness for a dinning area very plain. The food sucked! My husband ordered over easy eggs and home fries and a steak combo. The white part of the eggs were not cooked all the way , the home fries were hard and the steak had 30% of one solid piece of fat. There was something wrong with one thing or the other on every ones plate . 2 adults and 3 kids meals were messed up. We always,always, leave a tip, this was the first time we didn't. We will never eat there again or recommend any one to go there.

This place loois nice but that's about it. The food is bland and badly proportioned, with giant portions. And what's worse is that you think that this place will be great and you get a giant portion of bland crap. Plus the suicidal flies buzzing around your head and landing on your food make it impossible to enjoy any thing about the place. Do not eat here unless starving with no standards for your food.

I ordered the hot turkey sandwiches with fries and it was gross, they should have said it was just lunch meat, I wouldn’t have wasted my money! Won’t make the mistake of going there again.

Our food came cold, the mashes potatoes were definitely old. Our fries were under cooked in our poutine and oil was old. We ordered a kids pizza and it came back to a 3 year old and couldn't bite into it.

Food had little to no flavor ordered two whiskey sours one regular one with Jack Daniels both tasted like water down bottom shelf whiskey for the $62 it cost two of us to eat I would have liked to better dining experience

Waitress was quick to great and get our drinks but that's all the positive I'll give. She didn't know what sauces there were for wings for starters. Then took our orders and said we both had a trip to salad bar. No lettuce ! Barely anything. Excuse was that were preparing for a wedding. Lol well wouldn't you have food then? I ordered the chic parm and she the broiled haddock which later we are told they don't have that either. So we both get the chicken parm and it came with meat sauce on the spagetti. ?? But at least it was good and hot. We paid the bill and left never to return.

Went there and ordered sampler platter appetizer....but no mozzarella sticks so they would substitute with more of other stuff....ok... Then order Broiled haddock..... While at the salad bar which had no lettuce...they were out of it...waitress came to tell me they were out of haddock. Ok...chicken parm it is. Get our chicken parm delivered to table to have waitress tell us she forgot to put in our appetizer...did we still want it? Will not be back!

Came here for breakfast. When we got there we were told that it would be a bit of a wait. No time was mentioned so we didn't think it would be too bad. Normally if it a long wait, the waiter will mention this. But they didnt. The waitress took our order, and brought us our coffees.1 hour later, we became fed up and stood to leave. In the hour we waited for our food (eggs and pancakes, nothing that should take an hour to make), only 1 waitress asked if we'd like a coffee refill. We just wanted our breakfast. Looking around, the diner was mostly full but half of the tables didn't have any food since the moment we arrived til when we left. I don't understand how hard it could be to simply let the customers know that they are backed up over an hour wait, come back around inform people of the issue and let them make the decision to wait. I never waited an hour at a diner for absolutely nothing. Ended up grabbing lunch at Stewart's because the hour spent at a diner was a huge waste of time. Would not recommend or go back.

The food was terrible the night we were there. I ordered the roast turkey dinner. It was pressed turkey roll and it had a scoop of potato and 2 scoops of dressing under the turkey roll and gravy on top. There was a dish of cold corn in water on the side of the plate. A 3 piece chicken dinner also turned out to be chicken strips. Ate there before and didn’t care for it but we wanted to give it another chance. Never again!

Our family went there tonight because we were driving through Malone and every restaurant except one was packed. For future reference if only one restaurant is deserted... there is a reason. The food was bad. I liked my soup and salad but my daughter's burger was burned to a puck, and my husband was served a raw monty cristo. I mean still oozing egg, mushy, raw. He brought it home to bake in our oven and hopefully get some of his money back. Then we got the bill.... 66$ for a raw sandwich, burned burger, small plate of nachos, warm iced tea, and lazy bored waitresses that were joking with customers about them actually having to work and wishing the place was empty. Whoever owns that place needs a wake up check and I want my money back. Get better waitresses and a better cook.

Horrible service. Sit here for 10 mins. Have to ask for menus , no one aknowledes us so finally after watching them bring more tables in and refill drinks at other tables I asked if we could be acknowledged and helped and was given attitude by the waitress who snapped at me we only have 2 servers. Communication goes along way, a simple we are busy someone will be right with you would be nice

The place was really grimy, we shifted the condiment basket over and there was a pile of grease and dirt on the table. The high highchairs were also covered in food and grease. After seeing the food, didn't stay to eat. The staff seemed nice, but didn't feel comfortable staying.

Took 55 min. For food to be delivered to table. Order was only warm, it was not fresh, and the order was incorrect. Waitress was very apologetic.

We ordered a house salad, but they had no green salad. The cucumber was moldy. The fries were rare. Was the most bad restaurant I have ever visit. Would prefer to go somewhere else!

Waitress was the ONLY highlight of our visit. Food was greasy and had a hair in it. We were only offered a 10% discount for food we didn't eat due to the loss of appetite after finding said hair.

We have dined at Hosler’s several times and always had a good experience. Today 4/15 my husband and I each had to use the bathroom while there. It was disgusting! Dried 💩 on the toilet that has been there for more than one or two days. The Health Department should come and visit. We will not be returning. Clean your bathrooms and sweep and mop your floors, it looks like it is needed.

Horrifying you people operate with your kitchen so disgusting. Food safety concerns everywhere. After seeing pictures of it, I think it’s amazing you’ll be closing down! I hope the next owners aren’t so gross and lazy with poor standards.

Terrible Service I took my family to this restaurant this pass Sunday for their Buffett breakfast. After 20 minutes of waiting and having to ask for the table to be wiped off we received an attitude from the waitress because I was drying the table after. Then 5 minutes later we had to ask for someone to take our order and the waitress once again gave us an attitude because we ask for our order to be taken. I stood up told the waitress how dare she give me an attitude for asking her to do her job. I told my family to lets go. Walked up and asked for a manager which there was no one in charge at that time I was told. And told my family to lets go I will call the manager tomorrow and walked out. Then I came to find out the busser was coming after me and my 19 year old niece had to stop him. When I discussed this experience with the owner they basically called me a lier about the whole experience, even referring that it was my fault, because they were able to watch actions and not words. The waitress was rude and the busser had no right to get involved. It is funny that if I am lying about my experience, how can my niece recall the experience the same exact way with the same exact words. I do not recommend this place to anyone. I never liked their food, as one time I ordered the corn beef sandwich and could not even bite through the meat. And sent it back just for them to charge me for it when it was not even eaten. My daughter eggs were suppose to be scrambled and they came out with over easy eggs looking like they were scrambled on the plate. And know this. If you go make sure you plan on sitting there for a long time and pray you don't get the same waitress I had.

Got haddock dinner it was cooked to much burnt and dried out the sirloin steak on toast was mainly fat expensive for the quality of the food may need a new cook anyone who is a good cook would not let this to go out of the kitchen very disappointed the waitress was excellent

After seeing the disgusting pictures of your kitchen I now remember one of the many reasons why I don't eat their. Though I appreciate your crew for shedding light on you atrocious kitchen, why did they never step up to make it better? This is a lose lose all around. This shows you give no care for your customers and are only here to pump up your profits while you potentially poison your customers. Im pretty sure Alice Hyde's questionnaire now asks if you e eaten at Hosler's. Go to Mo's or Something Different see what a clean kitchen looks like. You should be utterly ashamed. Close it down!!!

I've eaten diner breakfast food from Maine to Oregon and back, but this was by far one of the worst meals I've ever had. Thia morning I was served half cooked eggs and cold dry toast accompanied by a smidgen of dry home fries all served on a ice cold plate. Best part of the meal was the coffee, at least it was lukewarm. Won't ever eat there again.

Our food was not good at all, Alfredo tasted awful pretty sure it was jar sauce.. We asked for a burger and fries and she brought out a burger poutine?? Over 50$ for our order— we won’t be back.

No manager or supervisor on site. They said they didn't have Ceasar salad but brought a ceasar salad out for another customer. Asked for a medium well steak and got a raw steak and sweet potato fries were soggy and when I got my steak returned over cooked and regular fries and the waitresses that were working were new and handled themselves very professionally but I swear the cooks were either boozed or very baked. Asked for no onions due to an allergy and got onions . Won't be coming back. Like you cant make this crap up. But someone with authority just came out to listen and gave us discount so thats appreciated 👏 .

All I asked for was fluffy scrambled eggs and I got eggs that were white and yellow and had the texture of rice. I asked again for fluffy scrambled and received the same exact ones. I also had hash browns that were so shriveled they looked like sweet potatoes... I asked for my money back and they said no, and the waitress didn't really seem to care and was talking about me in the back, a friend heard. This place sucks this was my second time of getting breakfast and it really was just disgusting both times, this was worse, though, the first time you could eat it. Do not go here if you're hungry.Don't go here no matter what..... I can't seem to find the pictures.Or I would show you this disgusting breakfast that I had today.
