Awesome food we had tonight. I had lamb bab just perfect, our kids are really fussy but they ate everything, kids babs were perfectly served and kids loved making their own food. Lovely atmosphere, a great little spot. A hidden gem in Manchester .. Rebecca and Jason were great hosts
My partner and I visited BAB as we were in town shopping and close by. I had read about the £10 lunch offer and thought that sounded very inexpensive. We visited Wednesday lunchtime so no need for a reservation as there was lots of seating available. Quite a small venue but I love the open plan with visibility of the kitchen. We ordered houmous, the BAB salad bowl with chicken and falafel. I have to say for £10 the main meals were of a good size. My salad bowl was really fresh and delicious. I can also recommend the Margaritas. I would definitely return.
I recently visited a restaurant for the first time, lured by their enticing half-price January offer. We ordered four main courses: beef salad, chicken salad, lamb salad, and salmon salad. Each dish was remarkably fresh, and the experience of tasting their culinary creations was truly delightful. It was a joy to dine at this restaurant, discovering their delicious offerings. However, there was an unusual aspect to our visit. It appeared that the floor above the restaurant was undergoing renovations. As a result, vibrations from the construction work caused dust from the ceiling to sprinkle down onto our drinks and food. We even found traces of dust on our clothes. Despite this, the overall experience was positive. The quality and freshness of the food were exceptional, and the mishap with the dust didn’t significantly detract from the enjoyment of our meal. This incident was certainly unexpected, but it did not overshadow the quality of the food and the pleasantness of the restaurant’s atmosphere. It’s worth noting that this was an external issue, not directly related to the restaurant itself. I look forward to returning, hopefully post-renovations, to relish their cuisine once more in a more serene setting.
Food fantastic massive portions and the host absolutely brilliant. The place is so cozy welcoming, warm and so relaxing. Cocktails fabulous classy and yet satisfactory. Would definitely recommend.
lovely lunch here to start the bank holiday weekend! food was absolutely amazing and £10 lunch deal was great value for money! really enjoyed everything and amazing service from jason. will definitely be back
Great food , great customer service and good deals! I went with two friends at opening time midweek. There were two other tables being occupied as well as ours so I can imagine this place could get pretty busy during peak times. It was decorated nice inside and everything was very calm and welcoming. We opted for the lunch time deal which at £10 was a steal! I ordered mine without chips though and asked if I could instead have more salad which was no problem at all. It wasn’t long from placing the order to it being brought to the table. There were a good selection of drinks on offer but I prefer to have my meals with water these days. (Check out the menu though) The service was great, the guy who took our order was really friendly and checked everything was ok in between service. I ordered the salt and pepper chicken bab which was full of flavour and honestly delicious! I think it would be amazing if they offered an alternative choice of bread as I would have LOVED it MORE if it was on a thicker, doughier flat bread or even naan bread. However it was delicious and I would definitely return!
The kebabs were very different from what you would expect, however that is what made them great. The hardest thing was choosing which main to go for and in the end all of them were fantastic as were the loaded fries. Staff were very friendly and attentive. We'll be back
Booked for BABNQ on a Tuesday evening for a team meal with work, we were visiting Manchester so not familiar with many restaurants but so pleased we picked here! We needed to push back our reservation, we didn’t get an answer when we first tried but they called us back (never known a restaurant do that!) and we’re really helpful. It was quiet in the restaurant but still had a really nice vibe and all the staff were friendly and looked after us well. We ordered quite a few dishes to share from the meze menu which were all delicious! But we probably ate a little too much as the mains were huge and we struggled to finish. Absolutely no reflection on the quality of the food which was great. Would fully recommend a visit and hopefully we can return for more food again one day
First time visiting and the service was outstanding, lovely staff. Food was delicious and the portions were very generous. Already thinking about going again soon.
First visit and loved it! Tried their lunch special- the bab bowl, it was delicious, good value for money and big portion.
Really enjoyed the food at Bab! We got the surf and turf and it was delicious and tasted super fresh. The pitta is also homemade and made on the day, tastes so good! Would definitely recommend!! 😊
Not sure how this place has bad reviews. Best food I’ve had in a long while. Starters were amazing. Lamb kebab and brisket kebab were LOADED with tender, tasty meat. Flavours were amazing. 10/10
Attentive service. Lovely atmosphere. The food was very good- particularly the Greek fries! There were several vegetarian options- the tenderstem broccoli Bab was the favourite!
Came here for early dinner on Sunday, before a gig, and wow! We were totally blown away, great service from the young lady, who was very attentive, and friendly and my girlfriend had a brilliant cocktail too. The Sous Chef Sam came over and made some great recommendations, one in particular was the Lamb Koftas with a Vimto sweet chilli! Which is a taste sensation! Highly recommend this place to anyone, the menu changes regularly too, so there's always something new to try. Thanks ever so much, we'll be back
So glad we finally got to try Bab! Excellent food and service and the lunch deal was a welcome surprise. Highly recommend the lamb kebab 😋 And Greek fries 🍟 we'll definitely be back!
This place is amazing, easily 5stars. The food the service and the atmosphere are lovely. I was recommended to come here and I am so glad I did. I opted for the lunch menu which is a bargain! Even out if lunch time the value is still very good. The lamb kebab was so nice with huge amounts of tender meat, the restaurant it’s self is lovely and relaxed and the waiting staff were just so pleasant. I’ve definitely found my new favourite
Had the Salt and Pepper Steak.. exceptionally good! Spicy mayo was excellent! Highly recommend the halloumi side dish..
We had a private event downstairs at BAB NQ. The food, service and drinks were absolutely fantastic. Special shoutout to David who went above and beyond to help us pull it all off, and was a great laugh throughout the night, and to Lisa who dealt with all of our questions. The space downstairs with its own private bar and toilets is fantastic, and a bit of a rare find in Manchester city centre. We will definitely be booking again. Thanks a lot :-)
We came in during BABs bday week and were seated straight away by David, who was lovely throughout our meal. We had the lamb one and the chicken one, both were really tasty! Had a lovely evening and would deffo come back! Thanks David :)
First visit and it was delicious. Really enjoyed the food which is creative and delicious. The service was excellent too along with a great vibe. We will definitely be back.
One of the best Kebabs I've had, very very tasty! Really tender lamb and great sauces. The Greek fries were really good with the tzatziki and feta, highly recommended! Service and beer selection also top notch! Thanks again!
Superb venue. Small but perfectly formed menu. Great for carnivores and vegetarians alike. Fresh food, beautifully prepared. The side dishes of paprika fries were larger than expected - we could have shared one plate. Excellent night out.
Exceptional. Really good honest food. Festive menu spot on. Calimari a bit on the mean size but very tasty plenty to eat over all. Lamb shawarma bab really delicious.
First visit to Bab was excellent. We made the most of the lunchtime deal and added the Greek fries to the order. Food was delicious and would definitely recommend it. Service was a little slow but we weren't in a rush so wasn't a problem
Bab lived up to our expectations. What a place, catering for all dietary needs. Great service, even better food. Recommend*
Came here for an early lunch, first there! The service was speedy and friendly. The restaurant was clean and well laid out with a nice atmosphere. I had the lamb Adana and it was super tasty and fresh. My friend had the halloumi with honey, she preferred the previous version of it but enjoyed the new one. I'll be back!
Loved it in here, cool menu not a mass of choices but it didn’t need it.. food all tasted fresh and flavoursome and was out pretty quick. As with most NQ places the interior decor is super cool as are the Clientele but it works well… still keeps a relaxed atmosphere. The food really was class.. and a little different which is always good in my book!! Worth looking up.. good little bit of pre gig grub!!
Went to babs for our date night as have wanted to try it for a while. My partner is vegan as well so helped that they had 2 options for the babs. Both were amazing, the flavours were on point and you could tell they had really been though out. Would highly recommend this place to anyone and definitely worth a shout if you in the area.
Great speedy service, lovely friendly waitress and amazing food! I have been twice and both times the food was amazing. We had chicken bab, halloumi bab and paprika fries and it was a perfect amount. Can order online if you don’t want to touch a menu, hand sanitiser on entrance and the tables are spread nicely!
Nice spot for a fancy kebab. The lamb was very soft and tender. Quick service for lunch between 13:00 and 14:00
Dropped in for the lunch deal on a Wednesday afternoon. Had the Chicken Shwarma and couldn't finish it! Generous portion, very tasty
Food is SO good definitely shall be revisiting again soon , for a kebab centred eatery the starters didn’t disappoint definitely recommend the goats cheese starter.
I have been here a few times now, and the food, service and atmosphere is great. The prices are also an attraction as they are good value for money considering how delicious the food is !
Valentines Day sharing platter. Excellent quality and generous portion. Superb cocktails
Absolutely spot on, been here twice for Lunch and thought the Salad was great the first time, so tried the Lamb on my second visit. WOW! the Salad was great. But the lamb properly blew me away! Great flavour, portion size and presentation, worth every Penny imo! Highly recommended!
Came here today because we found a good deal online and has been a while since we had a date. We couldn't book a table for the evening time we would have liked, so went for lunch instead. Decent selection of alcoholic and non-alcoholic drinks and pretty decent food menu too. Great atmosphere and really attentive staff. There were a few things on the menu that we picked that weren't available, and we weren't able to take our iced coffees out. But apart from that, it was really nice. My favourite thing was the Greek fries - basically loaded fries Greek style. Also liked the halloumi fries, but would have been better if they came with some kind of sauce for dipping -- otherwise they feel a bit dry. Giving a 4 instead of a 5 because I think it's a bit of the expensive side for a kebab if you've not got a deal of some kind. Still really nice though and would recommend.
After something different with a good range of Vegetarian options, Bab calls out to you Down a side street in Northern Quarter, Bab is open daily providing a variety of funky menu items in a hipster setting. With an open kitchen allowing you to see the food made, it allows you to see your order being made first-hand and with the quick service, you’re not waiting long at all. Now, onto the most important bit of what we ate... The Greek Fries [£4] was one of our items. We weren’t really expecting much and then we were pleasantly surprised. It was really lovely and tasted kind of like a Greek version of patatas bravas with creamy gooey feta cheese on top. If it was intended to be that way, then well done as mission accomplished. The wraps can be eaten by breaking into small pieces or can be wrapped up to be eaten - whatever takes your fancy. This is all possible as it’s made with a thick roti flatbread. Both of the wraps had some pickled carrots and Mooli (radish) which provided that extra bit of tang. The wraps we had were; Falafel [£9] - The tomatoes on this wrap were so juicy and the sauce was really tasty with a slight spicy kick Halloumi [£8.50] - The fried halloumi with the subtle orange taste proved a unique twist A little pricey if you’re used to the usual kebab houses but if you’re after some good quality vegetarian options, Bab can help. If the cost is putting you off, download the ‘Dealer’ app, using the reference code of ‘EATINMCR’ as there’s 30% off Mon-Thurs on the app - happy eating :) Bab is the place if you want something different in a chilled out setting. Recommendation Rating: Medium Price: ££ Service: 8/10
A v decent meal in the NQ. we had the surf & turf and seafood babs and shared v delicious chips . V generous portions. Seafood all tasted really fresh. Rated down from a 5 because the actual flatbread was pretty meh, dense and a bit soggy? The seafood bab could’ve had a bit more salad dressing on. Service was ok, didn’t give us a plate to put all our prawn ends on so had to put them on the table which is a bit grim?? And they didn’t check back or offer more drinks at all. Thankfully we didn’t need anything as the pinot noir was delicioousssss! And they didn’t add service on automatically which is good as it wasn’t that great!
Nice place tucked away in NQ, just off Stevenson Square. Serving kebabs in a different way and with lots of different types and flavours. There's a good lunch deal where a selection of their kebabs are only £10 if you buy a drink (normally they're around £15). Massive portions for what you pay for too, but can be difficult to finish over lunch.
A beautiful kebab place in the NQ excellent service but it is a bit hidden but not far from Stevenson Square. Something to add to the review that it has been missed, BAB NQ has invested good money to make the place accessible to the disables and families with pushchairs by having an elevator installed for that purpose. visitorsinmanchester com
Excellent meal, the food was beautiful, the staff were helpful and the cocktails were great. The only issue was that a few items were unavailable which made ordering a little difficult. They created a different sharing platter for us with what they did have available.
Was waiting to try BAB for quite a while. Ambience is nice. Staff are polite. Meze dishes were great. Prawn Frites had Fresh, zesty flavours. Chicken Pie was very more-ish. I think just a full meal of Meze would have been fantastic. The Babs themselves looked great but didn't taste that great. Crispy chicken was so crispy it tasted like there wasn't any chicken in the pieces. The bread was alright - a bit on the limp side. My friend ordered a chickpea shawarma but we got a regular chicken kebab instead, even that wasn't that interesting - flavours were toned down. Although it was brought by mistake I was quite excited to try the toum, but it tasted more like garlic mayonnaise than actual toum. Not sure how many people would pay £14 for a kebab. Maybe in London. Granted, BAB is producing food which is better quality than a regular kebab shop but I think I'd still prefer a local kebab over this.
Brief: Overpriced, flavourless deconstructed kebabs anyone? The Good: The staff The Bad: Where’s the flavour? Must try: Seafood mixed Bab Summary: Thursday evening dinner with friends, booked ahead and we reached on time. We were seated and the staff were really nice. I ordered the Mixed Bab from the main food menu and lamb croquettes the mezze menu. Both the dishes were underwhelming in terms of flavour and pizzaz, if you know what I mean. The meat itself needed more spice. Maybe it’s brown guy in me talking and other prefer this way of cooking. Well I wouldn’t recommend it to any of my friends when there are literally hundreds of kebab places in Manchester who do more flavourful ones for less than 5£. This is place is expensive. Price: £££ (Expensive) Visited: 02/09/2021 Time: 20:15
We went for an early dinner and between the two of us, we ordered the trio of dips and 6 crispy chicken wings as starters to share, and for our main course we both ordered the Mixed Bab. The dips tasted fresh and homemade and there was plenty of flatbread served with them. We were expecting the usual pitta type bread, but instead we were surprised that they were crispy (fried probably?). They were nice and crunchy and after the flatbread had been eaten, there was still quite a lot of the dip left so we kept that for our next course. The crispy chicken wings were my favourite, not overcooked and still juicy and tender, but we both agreed that it needed more seasoning. Despite scotch bonnets in the description, we felt that the heat was very mild and once the crispy skin had been devoured, the chicken itself tasted a little bland. The main courses were impressive to look at but we felt that the chicken was again under seasoned and a little dry. The lamb was soft, but perhaps not as juicy as we would have liked. There was minimal sauce so we felt the overall kebab was a little dry, so we were glad that we had the dips left. The cheesy chips which were part of the kebab were pointless in my view - the cheese had gone cold over the chips and instead of a melty sauce experience, it didn't add anything except chewy cheese. I would go back again to try something else, but I wouldn't prioritise it as I didn't feel that impressed. We were both stuffed though and the portion sizes were generous. The service was a bit stilted - we had to wait to be seated and although our order was taken quickly and our food arrived quickly, it was difficult to get attention from a server and it wasn't busy at the time we were there. I think it's ok, worth trying if you like kebabs obviously, but I didn't feel the food or the experience was enough to make me say it was good.
I had the steak , was cooked well and great portion size. Flat bread was dry and I've had far better . Vegetables on the kebab were watery and didnt really go with the kebab . Chips were decent enough Great service, lovely staff. Bit disappointed as wanted to go here for a while.
£50 for two starters, two kebabs, and two drinks. Festive set menu. We visited on a Tuesday at 5pm, there were only two other tables occupied so service was fairly speedy and customer service good. The hummus starter was good, though not amazing - the bread was crispy but cold which i thought an odd choice. The wings were also good. We found the kebabs quite disappointing. The chicken kebab was a (bit soggy) bread base with some chicken (quite nice, but not a lot), lettuce, onion and sauce (i did ask for it without spring onions), which for the price i thought wasn’t great. The flavour wasn’t particularly exciting either which was a shame. The lamb was very thick cuts of ‘donner meat’, which my partner described as very processed and a bit sickly. The main flavour was the bread and feta, but lacked much else. He loves a kebab usually so this was a shock! Overall not worth £50, disappointed.
Food has gone downhill. Great lunch deal but not when the chicken is cold, it was cooked but still cold. Flatbread was dry, stale and fell apart. Chips had a weird sweet seasoning. Service was ok, felt rushed and not very welcoming. Everything used to be fresh.
Has to be hands down one of the worst and most flavourless kebabs I have ever had in my life. Yes this sounds unnecessarily dramatic but is actually true. The lamb Adana is like a bland meatloaf, the chicken kebab isn’t even cooked on a skewer and the sauce used was bland and tasteless. The staff were to be fair super lovely - it did take an insane about of time to get served, but honestly if the kebab had been great I wouldn’t have minded. It’s simply mind boggling the reviews on here that are so positive - when simple chunks of chicken over a fire grill would surpass any of the dishes myself and my dining guests had. The fact that my mate steve left half a plate (if u know steve) is all u need to know
Edit: Had another go as they launched new menu and it was even worse than before. Crispy chicken bab (£15) - dry and barely chewable chicken, three small pieces, sauces completely tasteless, bab is basically a roti with no crips or taste to it. Hummus with lamb shawarma (£7) - regular hummus topped with tons of meat (more than in chicken main), unfortunately again super dry shredded lamb cooked days before and microwaved to order. Tons of crispy flatbread served with it - again super dry and tasteles. I wish they microwaved a cheap naan from Tesco instead of making their own inventions. The only thing I was satisfied with during previous visit - draft IPA wasn't fresh on this occasion with zero fizz to it. Waiter complained about not getitng tip to the chef before I even left. He was very kind, but food was absolutely terrible. Ordered surf and turf as that was the only gluten free main dish. Chips were nice but covered in excessive amount of sauces, steak was tender but cooked welldone - I wish they asked how I'd like it. Prawns were huge, but some parts weren't deveined properly and had unpleasant smell. Staff was friendly though and beer was excellent. I wouldn't recommend, especially for the price.
Friend hired room for birthday, and there was a scuffle at the end of the night (literally a scuffle). So they decided to keep his deposit money, there was no damage to the premises and at nearly £20 for 2 drinks ( 1 non alcoholic), I think this was the only crime committed that night! Loads of great venues in Manchester to hire out, why take the chance at losing a £500 deposit!
