Notice this place when I stop for some fuel and thought I would give it a try. It was actually really good! I was surprised by the value and the food quality overall. Will release it out with their sides as well! There were so many options. Don't skip on the dinner rolls with the cinnamon butter and their bakery was top notch.

Everything was great!!! This place has literally been calling my name for years! I drove by so many times and last week going back home, my friends and I stopped by for a late lunch. Employees were helpful, food was great and I even took food home! I will definitely be back when I head down south.

Great food and service. Serve tangy BBQ sauce that's a touch sweet, just how I like it. Brisket, chopped BBQ beef and chicken were fall-apart tender. Service was southern hospitality style friendly. Restaurant has their own bakery section with amazing cookies. The atmosphere was presented with a lot of history of the local area and a tribune to American military. I'd recommend trying the place if you find yourself in the area.

Dropped in on my way back from the valley heading to San Antonio. Location is ideal just a block up from 37. It was a perfect spot for my early Sunday dinner. Seeing as to how bbq has a lot to compete against in my book I was grateful for my meal. Food was well proportioned, and expedited in a timely manner. Restaurant was a bit slow and cold tonight, service was exceptional. I was also impressed with the big portions and delicious cream corn. Glad to have found this spot I will definitely be dropping in again on my next drive.

We just found this place and would highly recommend it. I got the pork chops special of the day with two sides. The pork chops were super juicy, tender, and tasty. My husband got the brisket and pork ribs plate with two sides. The brisket and pork ribs were tender and delicious with a smoky flavor. We both got the braised cabbage, because we saw a bunch of rave reviews for it. The cabbage did not disappoint. The onion rings were also excellent. Our server was Lucy and she was terrific. Didn't get the name of the other server tonight, but she was also very helpful. Oh, we also got the cherry cobbler and it was yummy. Just the right amount of sweet and tart. My husband's favorite. We also got a beer and sweet tea and the meal ran us about $50. It would have been a little less of I didn't get the "loaded" mashed potatoes. Loaded was not worth it to me. It was just some green onions, sour cream, and a sprinkle of cheese. I would have preferred more onion rings and not paid the extra $2.29 for the loaded option. But that's just me. Overall, we were very happy with our experience and meal. Will be back when we come through again.

We stopped for lunch on a Sunday trip to Corpus Christi. Overall, it was solid BBQ. The bar for Texas style BBQ is just high. The brisket was flavorful and tender, but not blow you away. The pork ribs were excellent. The showstopper was the bbq baked potato- I would definitely order that again. They did have excellent sides and brewed iced tea. Worth a stop!

**Edit 11/02/2024 Visited with my mom and sister on our way home from CC. I ordered special of the day, BBQ Brisket plate with sausage and 2 sides, my mom got a BBQ Brisket sandwich , and my sister got the BBQ Ribs plate. All our food had great flavor, however the brisket and sausage was not hot. It was like luke warm at best. Was disappointed but still ate our food. We let our server Barb know, and she said she would let the kitchen know. They said that was the best they could do. I've been through the drive thru and have never had our meat cold. It's been six years since I've visited, so was saddened that we were not offered to have our food warmed up or maybe a free dessert. They rock! We always make a stop on our way home to San Antonio... excellent BBQ for a reasonable price.

The brisket is always good. Love their sausage and braised cabbage. Ribs were good but were a little dry. Creamed corn and bbq sauce were good but a little watery. Still worth the stop, though.

I'm assuming by the sheer amount of other more highly rated reviews I just visited on a bad day but I felt that though the brisket and ribs were moist the flavor was just not there, I felt that the bark on the brisket could have been better. The fried okra was good and their house made ranch is delicious. For some reason my root beer tasted like rubbing alcohol I don't know what was going on there also I felt like the waitresses weren't very attentive which doesn't really bother me just put to go trays and a fountain drink station where we can have access to it and I don't have to go ask for stuff. The inside of the restaurant is really charming though 🤷

We’ve been here many times before and it’s always been great. Not this time. We ordered moist brisket and sausage as usual but meat was dry and tough. Just no moisture at all. Bbq sauce helped but the was too dry. Potato salad was good and the okra too. Maybe we’ll try again but not soon.

Meat was dry. Cooked to long But with the BBQ sauce. It went down smooth. But then I hadn't ate all day. I was a starvin Marvin. Believe me, I killed it. Onion rings Sucked rocks. But I still killed them.

I can not say enough about the pork ribs, they were like butter coming off the bone! My favorite item so far! I honestly didn't care for the sides, or the chopped brisket, it was too sweet. I tried someone's sweet potatoe side and it was very good. My man had turkey and cabbage and he loved it all. I will absolutely be back for nothing else those ribs. Place is a little pricey, I would say out of range for the flavor of most of the food. Edit: I forgot I tasted one of my moms onion rings and they were very good, nice and crunchy. Oh and corn, nope, it seemed they just added straight milk, not creamy at all.

Yesterday I came in and placed my to go order for ribs, brisket, and sausage at 11. At 11:30, I finally asked why it was taking so long and after checking, the order taker discovered that there automatic order placement device from the order desk to the kitchen wasn't working. They then quickly filled the order for the guy who had placed his order 10 minutes after mine, and then filled mine. They did say: "sorry about the inconvenience", but that was the extent of any trying to make up for it. The sausage was fine. The ribs were just okay since there was hardly any meat on them except for one rib. The brisket was partially good, that which was marblized, but most of it was the burnt ends. Apparently they didn't want me to return. The extra travel time to somewhere else will be worth it in the future.

This is not true Texas smoked bbq. The brisket was so dry it was hard. It tasted like oven baked. The roll was the best thing.

Hadn’t visited Smoliks in a few months. Was excited driving to Mathis to eat here. Opening my meal I noticed BBQ was not fresh. For 12:30pm lunch time, I was surprised. Beans were watery and lacked flavor. Tasted like a poor man’s Chili bean recipe. Rice was decent. Brisket and sausage were inedible. Brisket was dried out and sausage had the texture of a beef jerky you buy at a convenience store. Hate to say it’s the last time we visit but it’s hard to imagine driving from sinton or corpus to eat here again.
