My husband and I ate lunch at saltgrass today. We got the rattlers as an appetizer. I ordered the 8oz sirloin with a crab cake, broccoli, and a salad while my husband ordered one of the specialty steak options. The food was delicious. The atmosphere was welcoming and our waitress was so sweet and attentive as well. I definitely recommend.

I was kind of disappointed at first. I ordered a medium rare ribeye and it came out close to well done. I was just going to eat it and not say anything but I couldn’t. The staff was very kind and quickly changed it for the steak I desired. The manager even came out and offered his apologies. This doesn’t make me think less of this restaurant, it makes me think more highly of them. I know stuff happens and they can get it wrong sometimes, but it’s the attitude and the speed of fixing when there are problems. This location get 100% from me. They are superb in their customer service and satisfaction. Thank you

Have gone a couple of times and my only complaint was it took a bit to get our drinks. Other than that everything else is good. Food and service is great. I usually order the porterhouse and they cook it just how I ask for it to be cooked. Our servers have been nice and attentive as well.

After driving about forty five mins to McAllen and a long wait at Saltgrass.. definitely waited over thirty mins...did I mention it was Valentine's Day. Well even with the traffic as backed up as it was and the wait, it is totally worth it. I’d almost given up on enjoying my dining experience - no matter how big or small. My date and I dined at the Saltgrass in McAllen and received PERFECT service!! Our server “Sofie" was very friendly and made an excellent recommendation. She was on top of her game. I don’t think I could have asked for better. The menu was easy to ready and matching uniforms look great on them all. Now to the main topic, the food. Oh Lord, where to begin. Steak was cooked to perfection, served with a side of mashed potato. They will serve you a small loaf of bread with this exceptionally great sweet butter. I ordered a 12oz steak, and it was huge, I could only eat half. We will def go back again.

I have a member card so today I enjoyed my free $25 Birthday dinner at Mission, Texas Saltgrass. Always good food and service prompt. My choice is the lunch menu 6 oz sirloin steak. Medium rare and it was sooo good just perfect. Thank you Saltgrass.

It was our first time there and it was fantastic! All 3 of us loved our lunch entrees! Shrimp w/pasta, beef tenderloin tips w/mashed potatoes and the chicken fried chicken were all excellent! We also took advantage of the Caymus wine special which was over the top! Jackie was our server and did an excellent job! She made sure everything was perfect!

First time here. Service was great! The food was not pushed on you to rush you out, your able to enjoy your meal. Steaks were cooked just right and that melt in your mouth moment with the first bite was outstanding!!! Pocket book feels it but we definitely felt it was worth it. ( it is what it is now a days)

I have been to Salt multiple times before and always enjoyed it, but this last visit was a letdown. The food quality was not what I am used to here. The tomatoes were overripe and mushy, and the steak had too many tendons running through it, which made it hard to eat. The salt board also felt less impressive than usual, missing some of the variety I remember. The service was the bigger issue though. We never received a drink menu and after we finally ordered drinks, our waiter disappeared. We had to flag down another staff member just to place our food order. Same story with dessert. When I had a question, it was the manager who came over because our waiter was nowhere to be found. This is the first time I have had a bad experience here and it has me thinking twice about coming back. The ingredient quality seems to have dropped and the service was simply not acceptable. I hope they sort things out because Salt used to be a favorite of mine.

I came here for my birthday meal with my wife in November 2025. Our server was David Salinas - he was great, pleasant, and awesome all around. I could not criticize any aspect of his service or the food. Let me start off with his recommendation for the appetizer. Seafood Fondeaux: A creamy sauce with shrimp, crawfish, mushrooms, and spinach, served with garlic bread. My wife and I greatly enjoyed this. The second great thing that David did for us, I asked for some brown gravy as a topper on my potatoes. David was quick to point out: 1. There was a surcharge and 2. It was a small amount of gravy. David was very attentive to our beverages, bread, butter. He was on point. He visited the table frequently. He was genuine in his service and his willingness to address our needs. There are some people that will not appreciate a steak dinner at a franchise restaurant. For those people, I will suggest that they head out to the locally owned steak places in McAllen where you will easily spend a minimum of $125.00 per person.

This is the first time I have heard of and eaten at Saltgrass. It's a little more upscale than Longhorn. I had dinner here with a few coworkers. The atmosphere was great and we all enjoyed our meal. For appetizers, we had fried mushrooms and fried onions. Again, I chose my usual grilled salmon, sweet potato, and a side salad. If ever in the area again, I would come back! It was all good!!

What an outstanding experience I had at this restaurant for the first time. Everything we had is great! The waitress was very attentive and kept checking on us during our visit. The portion is very large. It is great for sharing. The steak that I had was cooked to perfection and had tons of flavor. This was the best steak I have eaten in a very long time! My husband had the Salmon Oscar plate with the sweet potato fries and a potato soup, and everything was absolutely delicious. I would highly recommend eating here!!!

Awesome restaurant for a nice evening dinner, music isn’t too loud, able to have conversations without yelling, food is delicious, family friendly. Very hospitable staff from the hostess to waiter to server(someone else brought food other than our waitress). Food temperature was perfect, I’m very picky about my medium well steak and it was just right! Would definitely visit again. The price is worth the product.

The steak is just as good as u will get at a fast food high quality restaurant...the sides were just as good....now...the country fried steak...that was not good...i think most restaurants similar serving would be a tad better.... I did sit at the bar area...which made my wait times a tad off the norm..and the server forgot the complimentary rolls when we sat down...he also forgot the extra shot of titos we requested.. I don't blame them...they had a full house... All in all i gave them a 4.5...there just isn't such a button to give them that... I highly recommend this place...clean..high end.. Just a great place to bring the better half after a kiss n make up😅😅😅... Mike

Very good quality ribeye steak properly prepared. Her fries were great, but my potato was not warm enough to melt butter. Salads were generous and fresh. The bartender was unaware of how to prepare and serve a dry martini ! No olives or other garnish. Very attentive service overall.

The place is incredible, the atmosphere is old country type!! Very clean and tidy. The dishes are exceptional with a lot of flavor and seasoning. The cuts of meat 🥩 are of very good quality. Typical Saltgrass Steak house but it was clean and service was quick to start. The Rattler appetizer was very good and flavorful. The Titos Ice Tea went down smoothly.....too smooth. Service was fairly well but the waiter was slow on getting requests i.e. water and checking up on the table but otherwise service was fine. The NY strip was delicious 😋 and was cooked to my request. Cesar salad was a typical restaurant salad nothing special there. Overall the experience was good. Definitely recommend for a nice steak night out visit.

I brought my husband here for his birthday. We used to go to the one in Arlington Texas all the time. This place was very disappointing as far as the dinner we had. I should have sent the ribs back because they were burnt. Our waitress was very distant towards us she did put a candle on the cheesecake though. 🤣

This part of the dinning area was very unconfortable due to the lack of air ventilation, very stuffy and unreasonably warm. I observed a floor fan in the center of the room apperantly to move the air, to no avail. The carpet had a musty odor and the tables and chairs were not properly cleaned. The food was ok, the steak was over buttered and the green beans over seasoned and over cooked, additionally the ribs were also overcooked. The food was ok, but in my experience in eating at other stake houses and other Saltgrass locations, this time this restaurant missed the mark. My experience today did not meet my expectations. Even with the less then stellar experience I still recommend eating at this location.

Service was A+ and is the only reason the server got a great tip. Top notch. But that’s it. The food quality was good but prep underperforms for steaks. No flavor and no seasoning. The meat was tender but without proper seasoning I missed the flavor in the meat. Speed was good too but may they missed out on seasoning or proper meat prep before grilling. Atmosphere can be loud. The wood ceiling design causes the room to sound loud when people are talking. Once the customers dive into the food the noise can drop dramatically.

This place never disappoints!! Best steaks in town!! Edit: not at all pleased with rewards card, last visit ticket not applied towards rewards and on top of that the $30 in rewards that I had was applied to ticket without my knowledge. I was trying to save that for my birthday. If anyone is thinking about getting the card read the fine print on how it works first before spending your money.

Unimpressed. The Pat’s Ribeye was the best thing I had here and it was cooked perfectly to a medium rare. The fried pickles need to be taken off the menu. The fries weren’t very good either. They don’t even look appetizing - they look raw. Salad was fine, grateful it wasn’t drenched in dressing like most places. No complaints on the service, bartender took good care of me.

I have to say not only disappointed, but ripped off. I ordered the Salmon Oscar. The menu says Jumbo Lump crab, lemon caper sauce. There was no Lump just Chump, me for not sending it back. I ordered blue cheese, worst dressing I've ever eaten, tasted more like Ranch, probably was because it's the only thing they serve with all their appitizers. We ordered the Shrimp poppers, they have some catchy name, but to me it's 4 little overpriced breaded shrimp and jalapenos, served with soggy onion strands that were cold and greasy. The best part of this meal was the bread pudding with candied pecans, served with ice cream. The bread pudding could have been over the top if it would have had raisins, or anything besides just bread by itself. Honestly, I felt the ambiance lacked something to make it more inviting, it had more of a saloon vibe than a restaurant feel, and I wasn't feeling the paint stains or whatever it was that was on the table, Also, our server never checked back with us after we were served by a runner, he did stop by at the end of the meal, to late to be called good service. I hear they have good Steaks, but after being taken for a losing ride, and over all not impressed, I probably won't be back.

We felt that our waiter tried too hard to sell us dinner in a hurry, food came quickly to the table, then we felt hurried to eat and check out. Not one minute to talk and enjoy the atmosphere, if there was any. Our extra food was quickly dumped in a box to go, then it became obvious that our exìt was expected. The worst part was that our meals were not any better tasting than any other steak house yet the price was way more. Two dinners, including a $13.50 very small gobblet of ordinary wine and a $9.00 beer, plus tip - $142.00. Never again.

We were there last night, ordered sirloin, had to send it back twice, looked like they had placed it in the airfryer, all toasted and red inside. Smh, brought it home for the dog, hefty bill. Two managers, one for each time they brought it out and couldn't sense our disappointment.

The food was not great. The service was fine. The restaurant's appearance was similar to the dining room inside a Drury Inn. We had a large party and our server was doing her best. I ordered the Hill Country Salad and for some reason, the salad was very sweet — it tasted like someone sprinkled sugar on top. The chicken was sweet (why??), along with the tomatoes and bacon. For $15.99, it's not worth it at all. The salad at Whataburger is better — something a pricey restaurant should strive to be better than. My mother-in-law's steak arrived extremely well done when she ordered it medium. She sent it back and after everyone was finished, her steak arrived and it was raw inside. She ordered the kid's meal size, but after sending it back twice, no one came to apologize for the mistake. Thankfully, she didn't have to pay for it. Based on my food alone, I would not recommend eating here.

I'm a little disappointed i took my family on a Monday night. The parking lot was not full, the tables half empt, so you would imagine service would be fast, right? Nope, sat down waited 15 mins and not one but two servers walk past us not a welcome or even take down our drink I understand if it was a busy night but half of the tables were empty so we just got up and left and went somewhere else where I was greeted and have my order taken right away

Could not even rate any food service alone deserved 0 stars waiter did not even offer us anything to drink we were waiting 15 minutes. While every one else was served. Will not come back!

I made reservations on 5/12 at noon for 13 people for 5/13. I called on 5/13 around 3pm and asked if we could bump it up to 6:30pm which I was told yes. I arrived at 6:20pm and they said it would be a 30 minute wait which I was fine with. We ended up leaving at 7:10pm after a manager came out and said it would be another 25-30 minutes. We let him know we had a reservation he turned around and never came back out. I had the whole party waiting inside and some in there vehicles and ended up somewhere else. No apologies were given.

I've visited many Landry's restaurants across the U.S., but this location is the only one that does not honor Landry's Select Club member priority seating. When I arrived with my family, two adults and a child, a young woman with long black hair at the host stand told us we had to wait 15 minutes to be seated, just like everyone else, despite my informing her that I was a Landry's Select Club member. She responded with a smirk, took my phone number, and said I would receive a text when our table was ready. To make matters worse, I never received that text. After 20 minutes of waiting, I noticed the host seated another group of three that arrived after my family. I approached her to ask why she prioritized that group, but she offered no explanation and eventually seated us. It’s frustrating that the Rio Grande Valley only has one Saltgrass restaurant and one Landry's restaurant, and we had to endure such poor treatment. It is disheartening to experience a bad attitude, especially from someone at the front of an establishment. And to the host, you had one job! And by far one of the easiest that the food industry may have, do better!

The worst , never again service was ok but what they called food was atrocious couldn’t even eat it they asked if I needed a box I said HELL NO . I would love to reply to your link however it will not let me click on it or anything, and the food was still atrocious.

Corporate office needs to go visit this location, we waited 45 minutes to be seated( it's understandable on mothers day) the problem was from the time we order our food to the time we left without our food, since it was nowhere to be ready. That was at over 1 hr, yes you are reading this correct, over 1 hr, my sons saw two entire episodes of his favorite series. I would understand if our order was complicated but kids pizza, shrimp n chicken, my was grilled shrimp and macaroni, chicken fried steak, and my daughter asked for a steak and shrimp with macaroni. Our waitress apologize, she was frustrated because she knew we were there for a long time, she was great. What is unacceptable is the manager by the bar back and fort instead of assisting the kitchen manager, our waitress called him and the kitchen manager apologize to us, unfortunately the time we lost, we will NEVER get it back!! We completely understand mothers day is hectic for restaurants but you had empty tables by the window and behind us, so what is your excuse?? How I wish I can post the video of my children disappointment and feed back regarding your service. Your McAllen location has a problem and clearly it starts with management and service. Get it together or you will end up clossing this location just like many other restaurants. Service matters, specially when you have higher prices than local restaurants and your service is horrible. #WHATABURGER RESCUE US AFTER ALMOST 3 HRS LOST!! Worst 45.00 steak I've ever had in my entire life. Had so much gristle on it there was more gristle than steak. Not only that they could not cook it medium rare three steaks later it still come out Raw. Won't be back wish we didn't come here should have gone to Longhorn

If I could give it 0 stars I would, my wife asked for a medium rare steak and was completely raw. Didn’t give us a new one just gave us the same one attempting to save it and it was worse. Service was terrible. Would tell anyone to never go there.

Poor service and bad meat quality and very raw and I ask for a medium well steak

I took my wife here for our 6 yr anniversary and what a definite disappointment. We had wanted to try this place out for such a long time ...we should've waited longer. If you ask me to name one good thing about our experience...I'd be hard pressed. The beer was cold? We ordered Ranger Rattlers....jumbo jalapeños stuffed with shrimp, cheese, and cilantro. First warning sign is how quickly they came out...too quick. Are they kept frozen back there? We've ordered similar food at other places and they come out piping hot but tastes fresh. The shrimp didn't taste so fresh and the jalapeños tastes pickled...like from a can. Bad start... We both had tortilla soups for a side...and we received a watery type of soup that had tortilla strips already inside. Seriously lacking in flavor... barely any chicken...no cheese. The veggies in the soup were these diced up tiny bits of food... didn't feel freshly made. Another star lost... Now our meals...my wife had the sirloin w/ a baked sweet potato and I had a ribeye w/ sweet potato fries. Her plate looked ridiculous...a gigantic baked sweet potato next to the steak...the presentation is awful. The steak looks tiny next to the sweet potato... switch up the plate so it doesn't look so empty. Her steak was nothing to rave about... basically checked off the "X"s. My plate was a huge disappointment for the price. First it wasn't hot...the steak felt lukewarm along with the fries. My gut says they waited for my wife's baked sweet potato to come out so my food started getting cold. On top of that...I ordered my steam medium and to me it didn't feel like a medium steak, it was closer to medium-well/well-done. The steak had nice taste to it but for it's price...? Service was also lacking...the server would come and go. He was very curt...felt like he wanted to leave already. And to top it off...when he brought my wife's plate, he grabs my beer and tells me he needed to grab something cold because the plate was extremely hot and his hand felt burned. So you decide to grab my beer mug? In the end I asked for my check. He came and dropped it off...I was literally about to hand him my card to pay and he just turned around not even paying attention. I then saw you can pay using a code attached to the receipt...which is how I paid. But seriously...maybe you should inform the customer "you can pay this way if you like" before just turning your back on them. Glad we tried this place because now we know to avoid it...if you want a perfectly cooked steak with attentive staff, Longhorns is right down the block....
