Stopped in at the Merkel donut shop, coming back from the WASP museum in Sweatwater. Such a friendly lovely owner in this hidden little gem. I think we bought one of everything in her shop, and it was all so good! My favorite donuts are the apple fritter & the glazed old fashion. They were really really yummy!!! If you have a chance to stop in, you’ll be happy you did!
In old downtown Merkel. Place was busy with locals when I arrived which is a good sign. Good selection and great prices. Place was very clean with good customer service. The donut shop is easy to miss but right across from RR track.

Now if you are not from Merkel be in for a great surprise. You will see the happiest lady alive who will sell you some of the best doughnuts and breakfast items. Always a happy atmosphere and the kids love going in with the warm greetings.
This is the best donut place! I am 54 and from a pretty big city (Tulsa, OK). This place takes the cake!! (Pun intended). The happiest girl in the world works here.

The only place in town prices are low considering the area! But donuts are no good you taste the oil more than the sweet from the glaze
