Really good chicken fried steak and great service. Their ice tea was really good too. The dining room is very simple and the ice machine is pretty loud but it was a very pleasant experience nonetheless. About as down home Texas country as it gets. Highly recommend.

I have been in 6 different States over the last year and sure missed Texas food. Skeets has 4 locations in and around Abilene. The location in Merkel was very clean, service was great as was the food. It was also a bargain. A large chicken fried steak, loaded baked potato, roll and small salad, $10.

Best chicken fried stake in Texas. I don't know what this location does, but their food is just better. Been eating here for years and it is always a great. The food is great and the prices are too.

Skeet’s is your typical small town, family owned, diner that you love to go to. We try to go at least twice a month. There are plenty of options on the menu, from appetizers, hamburgers, sandwiches, steaks, seafood, and anything else you might expect to find in your typical fantastic hole in the wall Café. The chicken Fried steak is always a favorite at the table. The dining room room is certainly nothing special, but the service and food are always great. I definitely recommend you give Skeet’s a try!

It's like a mom and pop restaurant. Southern style fish was really good with fries. Onion rings were excellent according to my husband. Chicken fried steak is good, gravy could be homemade. Brooke was our waitress. Very good about refills, bringing food out and checking on us. Ask for Brooke. Overall experience was really good. Thank you Skeets! We will be back!

Starting with the food, its great! The rest not so much. The place is filthy! Like I hope the kitchen is at least clean. Bottles of oxygen behind the bathroom door! The bathroom was barley accessible for me and my toddler, cant imagine a wheelchair getting in! The staff seems urgent and upset, like they were not happy, maybe its the workplace or maybe its the fact that it was ROASTING inside, 90 outside probably hotter inside. My husband had to take our toddler outside to cool off!

It was very hot in the building. Had a hard time eating when it's hot. I'm sure the employees were hot cooking. Wait staff was awesome. Food was ok we got a fried pickle and a piece of a chicken strip along with our food. Beans were dry,canned, coleslaw needs seasoning fish was ok.

The food and the setting is fantastic. The waitress was a little preoccupied and was not very attentive. We wanted desert but was never asked and I had to get up to get my own to go box. The cook nailed it though!!

Honestly it was an online order Not good. literally 1.2 miles away add this review gave me more trouble and heartburn then it was worth.

They ran out of ribeyes mid afternoon, the food was bland and unflavored, the waitress was aggressive and rude, my wife tried to pleasant and her responses where one word and not kind with her demeanor.
