Everything was phenomenal. Both the food and the service. Highly recommend the lamb and empanadas.
Hector worked with us for a remarkable food and drink experience. 6 different small plates shared for a top 5 all-time dining experience experience for me. The fusion of Latin foods with French flavor, texture and visual aesthetic was absolutely wonderful. Do not miss the opportunity to dine here for a real taste treat.
Had a truly satisfying dinner at Ena tonight and was pleasantly surprised at the flavors, thoughtful plating and attentive service. Our sever offered really knowledgeable details about considerations for our orders and great direction on the wine list. It had been too long since I’d been in and I won’t be waiting long to revisit this time around.
My first experience was wonderful and Ill definitely come back next time I'm visiting Minneapolis!
Always one of my favorite places. Tried the ceviche this time which had amazing flavor. The sea bass was very good but I prefer the steak over the bass. Drinks were awesome also.
Amazing evening on the patio! Beautiful weather superior food! Always a fan of Cafe Ena the food never disappoints and the service staff is very thoughtful. The guacamole appetizer is the best guac ever! I enjoyed the seabass and dessert was keylime pie and chocolate cake! Thank you Chef Hector! Highly recommend!
We hadn't been to Ena in a few months and took a group of friends. Service was spot on and all of the dishes were fantastic. They currently have entree portions but our server said they may go back to tapas size plates. I enjoyed the huachinango, a polenta crusted red snapper with a fennel slaw, potatoes, and andouille sausage with a delicious caper butter sauce. Our friends enjoyed the lamb, squid ink pasta,, conchas/scallops, paella, and another seafood pasta. All the plates were clean!! Their ceviche is always a delicious way to start the meal and the warm churros with chocolate sauce are a delicious finish. They have a good variety of wines at varying price points as well as a full bar for cocktails. This neighborhood restaurant is truly a gem!
Had a group of six for dinner and dessert. Everyone really enjoyed their dishes and the desserts were outstanding! Also, our server Rene was helpful and pleasant. Great atmosphere too! Go, you wont be disappointed!
We stopped for a quick dinner: service remains outstanding, the foods are as good as ever. I really enjoyed the Bife de Chorizo, my wife liked her Salmon dish. I love the covered patio! Excellent ceviche and empanadas. Great service.
The food was absolutely amazing. Every flavor complemented each other. The food was done to perfection. Highly recommend! I would say this is by far one of the top restaurants to try!
This is our cute little find! We were dying to try something new one weekend and came across this on yelp and decided to give it a try and am so glad that we did. Their food kind of speaks with your heart and soul. Their plate size was perfect and tasted delicious. Do try their guacamole and chips as its not like the usual one but nonetheless tastes exotic. The space is also nicely laid out with loads of windows and natural light coming through. Kind of made us feel warm even on a frigid winter day. LOVE their food...LOVE their charming decor and I am pretty sure we are gonna come back often to this place.
Lovely patio. Friendly service. Fresh and tasty food. The calamari is done with care..not too much batter, not too fried and not chewy at all. The guac is fresh and chunky. Light on flavor, but still good. They could serve more chips with it though..we had quite a bit left after the chips were gone and just ate it by the spoonful. I had the salmon, again, no disappointment. We felt pretty good after splitting 2 carafe of sangria between the 4 of us. It's a decent sangria, but i wouldn't put it in my top 5. Either way it's a great place to eat outside and get fresh food!
The food was amazing!!! Their virgin margarita was also 10/10. Yes, all in it can get pricy but, that’s everywhere in Minneapolis. Also, the 10% charge is very common too, so not sure why other reviewers are surprised by this. We will be returning!!!
Ena's is absolutely amazing and I cannot recommend it enough! It's become the go to for all of our family celebrations because the atmosphere is wonderful, the people are great, and the food is some of the best I've ever had. All their cocktails are expertly crafted to bring out subtle flavors and their seasonal drinks do a great job reflecting the flavors of the season. Their food is absolutely amazing and I've never had a dish I didn't like. My family and I have started just asking our server to decide our food for us because whatever they make is going to be one of the best dishes I've ever had. Ena's is an absolute gem and I can't recommend it enough! (P.S. get the churros, they are so good I dream about them)
Great food and service. Also good ambience
My wife and I went on our first date here in 2017. Every year we come and have dinner on our dating anniversary. It is our favorite place not only for sentiment value but also it has some of the best food in the twin cities. We have been to many restaurants all around the metro and we keep coming back. The food is so unique with many complex flavors and a frequently changing menu that always has new and exciting dishes. The ceviche is our favorite and we love getting it every time. It's slightly changed over those 7 years and we love the improvements. The staff has always been friendly and it's a very comfortable atmosphere. I feel like it is truly the best hidden gem in the cities. We love what you have all done over the last 7 years to keep Ena amazing and us wanting to keep coming back.
Loved their valentine special dinner. Super tasty. The drinks were really good too.
Fantastic experience all around! We went to Ena to celebrate my partner’s birthday. Plates are small and shareable. The food and drinks here are impeccable! We ordered the Costilla, Cordero, & Lubina. Every bite was flavorful and delicious! Even the simplest things like the potato’s and greens had a very elevated taste!
My husband and I ate at Ena for our anniversary and simply loved the experience. The wait staff was great, and the food was superb. I highly recommend the ceviche, guacamole, tomato and cheese “ensalade,” and the bass, chicken, and steak(we’ve had in the past). Also make sure to try their juices.
I had the best dining experience tonight! I’m from out of town. I wanted to support a small business. I seen it was slightly empty but still was intrigued to come in. The place was very cute. The food was so delicious. I had food yesterday at Cowboy jacks; and it was disgusting in comparison to the food here. It had so much flavor and the meat was juicy and tender. I honestly wanted a desert but everything on my plate. Renee my server so was so amazing. He was polite, attentive, friendly, nice and overall super cleanly due to the covid conditions. We talked for a few and it was a great conversation. Their social distancing and cleanly standards due to covid made me feel so comfortable and at ease. If I’m ever in town I will not only come back due to the food but to see Renee as my server and make sure I request him.
I love Rincon, so when I heard of Cafe Ena I had to try it. They have a super nice staff and a lot of variety on their menu. The best part for me is knowing I can go there for lunch, as opposed to Rincon which only offers dinner. I had the Salmon which was delicious. Stop by if you're in the area!
Very DELICIOUS and FLAVORFUL!!! The staff was very friendly and prompt. The seating was spacious with the couch seats actually being firm. I did not sink into the couch. I ordered the Argentine grass fed steak (see photo) and it was outstanding. Outdoor seating is also available.
I absolutely LOVE Cafe Ena in South Minneapolis. I've never had better guacamole in my life. My friend had the salmon and coconut risotto after falling in love with the guacamole and absolutely loved it. The patio is so adorable. I feel like I'm in another country.
EVERYTHING on the menu sounded awesome - I finally settled on the chilaquiles and the meal as perfect as they looked. Get the fresh juices! The pineapple mint was so good! 😍 for sure recommend if you're looking for authentic flavor in a fresh way.
Atmosphere and service were both excellent. Food was excellent as well. Vegetarian options are available but as I mentioned below, none with a major source of protein. A bean dish or something with a vegan alternative would be amazing and I’d honestly be really interested to see how the prepared it. Clearly a lot of care and thought went into each dish. I had the cauliflower and my wife had the egg pasta and seafood dish. Both delicious. Also had the panna cotta for dessert, also quite good. Will be visiting again!
Love Love Love Cafe Ena. Thoughtful food, great wine selection, friendly service. Family owned business. The owner Hector has several restaurants around Minneapolis and they are all of high quality. Highly recommend.
Amazing food and service. The Chile En Nogada appetizer is delicious, as well as the Sea Bass!
Excellent restaurant. Photo is a stuffed pepper appetizer. All food was outstanding for table of four. Service very good. Atmosphere was comfortable and welcoming. Highly recommend.
This place is so good and Alex is the best! We are from Utah in the United States and we were only in this city for 2 days but we ate every meal here! 100% would recommend. The best food was the Sea Bass, pork Gyros, Greek hamburger and the Greek salad.
Excellent Pasta de Langosta & Paella de Mariscos. We also loved the Corn Fritters with shrimp appetiser. Sherwin was a fantastic waiter. The Latin music added to a wonderful ambiance. We will definitely come back!
We had not been to Ena in a few years and decided to meet friends for Happy Hour! The HH and drinks menu was full of options and the experience could not have been better. The server was particularly warm and attentive and the food was absolutely delicious, fresh and beautifully plated. We will be regulars all summer especially when the patio is open. Thanks for inspiring again what a great place this is in a cozy neighborhood setting.
One of my favorite places. Everything on the menu, including drinks, are 1) exceptionally tasty and 2) interesting and unique. Which I think is hard to find in a restaurant. My favorite so far are the octopus, sea bass, anguacate, lamb chops, and steak… also the chocolate cake is very very good. The chefs clearly put a lot of thought into their dishes. Sauce game top tier. Flavor game… no notes!
Got a last minute table for a party of 10+, we had one dish of each, everything came out really good at the same time. Flavorful and great selection of dishes.
Sherwin had great recommendations. Appetizer, mains, and dessert were all very good!
We had a great meal here tonight. Me and a coworker stopped in and the food and service was great. Ceviche was very flavorful and we liked the homemade tortilla chips, the main dishes were amazing too. Pistachio crusted sea bass was so good! The fish was good but the whole dish around it had many interesting and flavorful parts. Jalapeño mustard grating was amazing, the Peruvian yellow aji sauce, and citrus fennel slaw all made the dish amazing. My colleague ordered the rosemary lamb chops and they looked very good. He said they were excellent. This place is so very unique and is a gem. Such great flavors.
Ena is such a gem of a restaurant in South Minneapolis! Some of the best ceviche around, and the owner/chef is so lovely and hospitable. Highly recommend for any occasion!
It's hard to decide because there were four items on the menu that I wanted. Red snapper, pork tenderloin, scallops, and Lamb Chops all looked great. The cocktails were terrific.
A friend and I tried this restaurant out for the first time, and it was genuinely one of the best meals I've had in a long time. The avocado starter was to die for, tasting better than any guacamole I've ever had. I had the chicken skewers, which were packed with flavor and had a good spicy kick without being too hot. Finally we ended with a tres leches cake that basically melted in our mouths. Both of our drinks were delicious as well, with me having a non-alcoholic raspberry drink that I had to stop myself from drinking all at once. On a Thursday evening, the restaurant was not very busy, and we quickly got a table. The service was good, with the waitresses being attendant to our needs. For the quality of the meal we got, I thought the price was reasonable as well, though it was higher than I usually pay. Overall, this meal was delicious from start to finish, and I'll definitely be stopping by again when the time is right!
So good! Such fresh food and relaxing atmosphere. The owner is so sweet, informative and passionate about his restaurant. They have so many great options for a dinner to celebrate or just for a night out. A casual, comfortable atmosphere with luxurious food.
Café Ena is one of those spots that kind of flies under the radar, but absolutely delivers. The staff is always friendly, the food is top-notch, and plates come out surprisingly fast. The vibe inside is super relaxing — easy place to settle in and enjoy a meal without any fuss. Bonus: one time I was seriously craving French fries, and even though they weren’t on the menu, they just made some for me anyway. Total sleeper spot in south Minneapolis that more people should know about.
I was so happy to find this spot locally, I had no idea it was there! I had been craving Latin American food and was curious to check this place out. The one negative I will say is that they were severely understaffed. Them being understaffed did not help with the number of tables that were occupied (yes, there was social distancing.) This made them not really pay much attention to detail and messed up our appetizer order (gave us cheese empanadas instead of beef empanadas) and did nothing to correct it. Not the best customer service, in my opinion. Only negative! On to the food! Appetizers: Guacamole - this was delicious and presented beautifully. All of the ingredients that went into it were fresh as if they were grown in the back. Top tier guacamole. 5/5. Empanadas - We ordered beef empanadas but received cheese empanadas, they were still delicious and the roasted tomato salsa topping was delicious. 5/5 Entrees: Bife De Chorizo - I loved this. However, I would have preferred another starch rather than fries. Maybe chopped potatoes or even mashed potatoes would have been wonderful. This meal was flavorful. I'm a very picky eater and absolutely hate artichokes, asparagus, and red peppers but I ate this meal like no tomorrow. Well done! Carne Bravo - This was so full of flavor! The flat iron steak is pimento crusted, and it has sauteed baby potatoes and veggies. The demi-glaze is... *chef's kiss* I would highly recommend this dish. Dessert: Creme Brulee & Churros: Both fantastic dessert options. Delicious, perfectly made, and full of flavor. I can't wait to go back to Cafe Ena. I'm excited to order from here to-go if we end up in another lockdown.
Tried this place for the first time and based on a reccoemdation. I enjoyed the meal we had, the place was a little small but there was abundant street parking. I would recommend trying this place, the seafood dishes we tried were very flavorful and satisfying.
Would not recommend the bife de chorizo (beef) the fries were terrible and the beef was just ok. The people I went with both got fish (halibut and snapper) and those were both delicious. Overall I would recommend sticking to seafood dishes.
Went for my wife's birthday at her request as she'd been there before and had enjoyed her prior dining experience. Avocado was great with tons of flavour, as was the chicken empanada. Looked like they were down a server, possibly a cook, but understandable in these times. Would go back again.
My husband and I felt adventurous and decided to try Argentinean cuisine for the first time. We were not disappointed with the food. We started off with seafood empanadas, which were flaky on the outside and had a succulent, creamy seafood filling. We were off to great start. We then ordered the rack of lamb and the grass-fed Argentine steak. The lamb was cooked perfectly and tasted great. Definitely a 5/5. The steak wasn't as great as the lamb, as it was a bit tough and saltier than I would have liked, 4/5. But overall both dish definitely offered new flavor profiles which we both enjoyed. Would we come back? Yes we would, just not for a while until we start craving some empanadas.
The new menu has some lovely dishes but it is very expensive for tiny bits of food. Really loved the cauliflower dish, beautifully prepared and lots of layers of flavor but it was five bites for $12. The “avocado” (it’s guacamole) is incredibly good but it is $16 and would fit in a child’s teacup. I understand that not every place is Outback Steakhouse but when the food costs on a dish can be measured in pennies (the cauliflower and parsnip dish) it just feels mean spirited to have portions this small. As with other dishes in other restaurants by this owner, I found the seafood I ordered to be weirdly metallic tasting and disappointing. Change your supplier! Service great, ambiance lovely.
The birria empanadas were fiiiiire. The lobster n shrimp pasta was meh. Lobster n shrimp overcooked.
We were there on a Thursday night 6 o’clock reservation, and the restaurant was totally empty. This restaurant was recommended from a friend of mine that ate there and was pleased with his meal. However, my experience was not the same. We ordered a guacamole appetizer, which was not a traditional guacamole, the flavor was mostly lime juice and the chips were very greasy. We also ordered two main dishes. My girlfriend likes salmon and she ordered the salmon. She loves pepper, but the meal was Heavily peppered, but it was cooked To her satisfaction. I love shrimp and order shrimp Whenever we are on vacation, the shrimp was supposed to be garlic shrimp over a bed of different things however, what I found was the shrimp tasted like it was soaked in butter with no flavor whatsoever. For $100 meal I would have rather spent it somewhere else. Be careful what you order. It had nothing to do with being busy. Just the food was not very good.
Beware all the "additional charges" loaded onto your bill that will make your total inflate. When you are presented with a total to leave a tip on, this restaurant will have already loaded: a) Your sales tax (which you normally shouldn't have to pay a tip on), b) A 10% service charge you will not be told is already baked in when the waiter presents you with the terminal to leave a tip (the receipt is printed AFTER you leave a tip), c) An "Additional Charge" randomly dropped in that the waiter could not explain. So if you leave a 15% tip, you will be leaving in effect more like a 30%+ tip ... I am disappointed by a 30% tip for the "service" of being deceived. Update: Restaurant refunded the receipt value, but did not call to clarify how they will handle these issues in the future.
Very disappointed. We chose Ena because people said they had the best Ceviche in town. Not only was the Ceviche sub par, our main course wasn’t even edible. We ordered an Argentinian steak medium rare. First try it comes out medium well. Server annoyingly brings us another. Second comes out medium at best, very over seasoned & dry. We didn’t even eat it. Their espresso machine was down and our server seemed like he hated his life. Great ambiance but thoroughly disappointed.
