This place is cash only! I got the scallion pancakes and bean curd over rice to dine in. I ate in their outside seating area. As soon as I sat down I was brought hot tea. My food came out as soon as it was ready and was hot. Portion was Large for the bean curd over rice and I took half home for leftovers. They box your leftovers up for you. The scallion pancakes were flakier then other places and delicious.

A very true cuisine to its culture I was happy how efficiently the food came out to the table. Everything tasted amazing I highly recommend the sweet & sour chicken and the eel as well definitely worth it! I definitely plan on visiting this establishment again once I visit the city again and came recommend by a friend of mine that lives in the city. I do recommend that you bring CASH if you plan on going to this restaurant or atleast make sure you have a Venmo account because that's the only payments they take.

it's Christmas Day in NYC but Chinese food never sleeps 🤷‍♂️ So we hit up this famous spot in Chinatown and let me tell you, the dumplings were 🔥🔥🔥 Super fast service too, though the queue was long, didn’t really have to wait. Ok. I will be dreaming about these dumplings. I’d have taken a picture of the tiny pork buns but they were so magical they floated in to my mouth before I knew what was happening. Fluffy, chewy, crispy. The atmosphere isn’t really anything to talk about but who cares? It was clean, with quick service, and easy paying now that they have venmo.

A nice authentic Chinese resturant in the middle of China town. They serve all kinds of Chinese food. Tasted the fried pork dumplings and vegetable, they were good. They have a lunch offer that until 3:30. The resturant is Always busy and full of people, but they serve food really quick.

Although this place is small, it is filled with the smell of all the delicious food! We ordered the mini fried pork buns and the steamed vegetable dumplings for a quick snack, and it was very tasty. The service was quick and they have guests in and out in a timely manner. I definitely plan to come back and try more of the food.

Our first dinner in New York while living on Eldridge street, found it spontanously. So delicious food and typical chinese atmosphere, super local, cozy, nice people working there and all was so good especially Chicken General Tso😍😍 highly recommended spot to eat in New York😍

The space is very small and feels cramped because of everything the restaurant has inside as far as tables and seating. The employees seemed rushed and annoyed above everything, which was a surprise because there were only 2 other groups seated when my husband and I arrived. Maybe an off day, but it felt like they couldn't wait to be rid of us. It is a cash only establishment, which is stated clearly on the door. We came in to split an order of soup dumplings, and didn't see (in very small print that blends in on the front of the menu) that there is a $7 minimum per person, so be aware of that. In addition to the soup dumplings we ordered pork buns. The pork buns had out of this world flavor and I would highly recommend them, the soup dumplings were good but didn't stand out. The bathroom is down a long flight of stairs and does not seem to be well maintained throughout the day. Would recommend for takeout orders.

Went here for lunch today and basically ordered the Infatuation recommended dishes and they definitely didn’t disappoint. Got the soup dumplings, scallion pancake, pork buns and the hot and spicy wontons.

My friend and I both have a lot of experience with Shanghainese food. I spent 2 years of my childhood in Shanghai and my friend visits China every other year. We both grew up Chinese in predominantly Asian immigrant areas. By far, this was the best Shanghainese food we have had in at least 3 years. The rice cakes were the perfect texture and coated with just enough oil to prevent sticking without being too greasy. The dumplings were amazing; flavourful soup, thin dumpling skin that moved as you blew on it, and served at a temperature just barely under scalding your tongue. The wontons were also great, not exactly Shanghainese cuisine but you can't take two Hong Kongers out without one of us craving it. Clear and light soup paired with perfectly filled dumplings. Everything was so light and delicious that we didn't realize how much we had eaten until we stood up to pay. Can't recommend the place enough!

We ordered takeout pork and chive dumplings during a food crawl and the staff were very nice. The dumplings were very tender, the meat and chives were perfectly done. Be aware they only take cash!!!!!!

Busy joint. Food authentic and tasty. Crispy eel with the shrimp fried rice or the chicken or shrimp with broccoli is always good. I had the scallion pancakes today and enjoyed it. Always busy eat and head out. The use to provide tea now just water. Gratuity is included so dont double tip.

Their soup pork dumplings were amazing. We got the Orange chicken and Mai fun and it didn’t disappoint. The orange chicken was not what your are normally used to from the food courts. It was more of a chili paste texture and delicious. Felt high pace and high turn over but we weren’t rushed at all. Bathroom is down stairs.

Fortunately one of the best-kept secrets in Chinatown. I’ve been bringing groups of 6-10 people here for a few years now, and even without a reservation they seat us in less than 15 minutes every time. Their food would be hard to beat even if they charged as much as the competition, but they don’t. You could try everything on the menu (which I recommend, I haven’t found an item I dislike yet) and come away spending less than you would on a bougie brunch with drinks.

Crave its authentic Shanghai cuisine especially the steamed Bao with soup, always visit when I am in NYC.

Doesn’t look like much from the outside (or inside, for that matter), but if you want an authentic Chinese cuisine experience that has dishes from different regions of the country, this is your place to be. Great food (portion, quality, taste), quick & efficient staff, and pocket friendly! Highly recommend!

My friend and I ended up here simply because it was the one of the only restaurants open past 9pm around but both of us were glad that we ended up here. I searched up and down the streets of Chinatown to find the best steamed juicy buns (xiao long bao), and happened across this precious gem! The photos looked so good, I asked the manager three times if these were actual photos of their food! She said yes… And she was not lying! They came out exactly as pictured and even better. Why am I writing a review which might work against me in getting a table when I want to go next time? B/c first of all, I don’t want them to go out of business like many small Chinatown and other restaurants have across the city, but also b/c if someone does something consistently better, they deserve a shout out! So now to the bao— the skin is so thin and delicate that they will break if not handled with care and the savory juice from the meat will ooze out. The meat is tender and tasty and melts in your mouth. They can provide ginger if you ask, as it doesn’t automatically come with it. And they also serve tea in a teapot with paper cups! So great for germaphobes like me. Chopsticks and spoons are also disposable. The crabmeat on top also adds a succulent delight, even though you can order w/o the crabmeat as well. And they recommend to eat in b/c these bao should be eaten right off the steamer for the best experience. Highly recommend you try the place. Which is mostly patronized by Chinese people, at least when I went, so you know it’s authentic! It’s not fancy and more like a very clean coffee shop but the xiao long bao are on par with the best of them.

Soup Dumplings. Soup Dumplings. Soup Dumplings. Shall I keep saying it? Considered for many years to be the best soup dumplings in the city. They take cash and Venmo. Very basic and no frills and tiny restaurant where you find yourself sharing a table with strangers and hopefully making friend s.

You can not find a better place in china town. This place is top tier and it has everything you could want. It was incredibly fast and the food was hot and fresh. The fried tiny buns are a must order by far. I would also recommend the beef w broccoli, fried rice and soup dumplings. There were other things on the menu that looked amazing but we didn’t get to try like the fried pork dumplings, beef lo Mein and peanut noodles. The noodles looked thick and saucy. It’s cash only so bring some cash but everything is priced under $10 except for the mains at dinner. We ordered 6 things and it was $45 . We couldn’t finish it because the portions are so huge. You can’t get a better meal for the price in NYC.

Quick and easy. Got the Steamed Shrimp / Pork Dumplings and the Mixed Lo Mein. We were 2 and sat at a table of 6. For efficiency and just to fill up the restaurant. Good came out within minutes. Complimentary tea and water on the table. Well priced. Paid 26$ for these two dishes!

Best authentic Chinese food! We’ve tried everything from here and it’s all great. Low prices, delicious fresh food and service is always so fast. Please try this place it’s 100% worth it! Our favorite is their sesame chicken but if you’re looking to try something unique get the sesame rice ball soup. My favorite is Angela!!! I love her energy, she’s always so kind to us. She will make us smile 3 times all while quickly packing up our order. She is a gem and the rest of the staff is equally efficient & kind!!

Soup dumplings were amazing. The man at the table behind us also gave us his leftover pork buns. Incredible, cheap, and easy meal.

Hot and sour was great, spicy noodles were the best of the three dishes we got. General Tso with white meat was meh - chewy and didn't have much heat. Seafood pasta was also tasty with tons of seafood in the dish. Note even at lunch the dishes are pretty sizable so heads up if you don't want a lot. Pork Potstickers came out last for some reason but they had a lot of taste (8 total) and loved how they were cooked. Staff was attentive and kept coming back for anything we needed.

Amazing food and practically unbeatable value. Highly recommend the beef dishes. You really don’t need to order much to get full. The only dishes I would steer away from are the rice cakes. They were pretty mid and we barely ate them.

Got the lunch (before 3:30pm) special: 3 dishes from list of 20, for $24, included hot and sour soup and rice. Portions are half a regular order. The General Tso’s chicken was spot on. The Mapo Tofu was lightly spicy. The vinegar pork chop was cut thin, deep fried and had a black vinegar sauce. All were pretty good. The smaller lunch portions allowed for a variety of dishes.

Top tier dumplings at prices that won't burn a hole in your wallet! Me and my partner are big dumplings fans, and when visiting NYC on holiday, were recommended Deluxe Green Bo, in the heart of Chinatown, by a friend. And I'm glad we were told about the place! The dumplings themselves were great - packed full of flavour, nice hits of umami, everything you could want. Dumplings, done well, that's what seems to be the order of the day here. It's also very reasonably priced, especially compared to what we spent elsewhere! On prices and payment, it was cash only when we visited, and there is a minimum spent too - I think of $7 per person, though I may be misremembering. But it wasn't a huge amount! Cost wise, me and my partner had a filling lunch for only around $20 or so, which value wise is amazing. And handy, as that was about how many dollars cash we had left to spend before flying home too! The restaurant is basic in terms of interior etc, and it can be a bit chaotic. But that's part of the charm for me! We were also plied with plentiful green tea too. Overall, if you're after good dumplings at a good price, worth a visit.

I was trying to find late night dinner and at 9:45 pm I walked in and they said they’d happily seat me even though they closed at 10. The food was out in minutes and I left before 10 pm! Food was amazing, staff was so kind.

Typical Chinese resto. Must pay thru venmo if u don’t have cash. Food is great. They’re usually full house so make sure to come early esp dinner time. Highly recommend the dim sum and the hot and spicy wonton although it’s not too spicy there’s a twist that’s why you should try them!

The food here is delicious! My husband and I were walking to another restaurant when we came across this one and were so glad we did! The place was busy but we got sat immediately at a round table with two different groups of people. Thankfully we got sat with some pretty cool people and made some nice conversations while eating. We ordered the famous tiny pork buns, along with sesame chicken and pan friend noodles. The flavor was amazing!! It was so much food we couldn’t eat it all. They had to-go boxes, but we didn’t wanna carry food with us all day so they packaged up our food and we gave it to the group of college girls at our table that planned on getting lit that night at Santa Con lol. The hectic, fast paced atmosphere was all part of the vibe and we had the best time!

Sat down and you need to order 4 dishes to stay at a table. Best scallion pancake I’ve ever had. We also got dumplings which were pretty bland, but the hot spicy wonton with peanut sauce were fire. Bao buns were ok! Very affordable overall.

So I recommend getting food to go if you’re doing a food crawl. There’s not many tables and it’s busy so you’ll have to wait a while either outside or in a small crowded space and/or share a table with people to sit. But we loved that they give complimentary hot green tea once you sit down. The soup dumplings were delicious. We also ordered a huge plate of pan fried pork dumplings, but we weren’t a fan of them. It was like 70% flavorless dough with barely any filling in it, and the pork filling wasn’t making up for it. Next time I’ll order something else because they have a huge menu. The servers and owners are working super hard to make sure everyone is accommodated.

We ordered the beef chow fun, pork noodles, and pork and crab XLB. The noodle dishes’ flavors were pretty good, but I would not say that they were not anything like OUT OF THIS WORLD. I did like the texture of the pork noodles though— they were super springy/fresh/q tasting. They DO, however, have extremely fast service. The noodle dishes came out probably within 5 minutes of ordering! The portion sizes are alright, but not huge. *Note: this place is CASH ONLY, so remember to bring cash before you order!!

Came here for a few bites to eat. The food was tasty, but they crammed people into the place. We were seated right behind the door and had to eat with our jackets on because the door kept opening and closing. We had the spicy wontons and pork soup dumplings, and they were very tasty. The soup broth had a very nice flavor. I'd absolutely come back here again, but I'd wait for better seating!

We got the beef mei fun (Singapore noodle style with curry), beef and broccoli over rice, and shrimp fried rice. Everything was fresh and tasty. Nothing made us feel sick afterwards, which typically happens with us if we have too much msg. We got it delivered and the food was still piping hot. We’ve also been to the restaurant and it’s typically very busy. Last time I was there, it was a bit of a wait. Tight seating and casual dining, but the food is pretty top notch Chinese food. When we were eating, I commented, “their chefs back there know what they’re doing…”

Food was very good overall but not all dishes were top quality. Ordered Shanghai fried noodle dish, Kung pao chicken, pork meatballs, pork buns, pork dumplings. The fried noodle dish was top quality. The meatballs were good and interesting tasting. I wouldn’t order again but enjoyed trying it. The other dishes were good but I have been to other restaurants where they tasted better. Overall solid choice if you’re looking for a restaurant in a hurry.

Food 7/10 The soup dumplings did get the job done, but I couldn’t really taste the crab nor the soup that well. It was just a warm soup dumpling that satisfied my cravings, with thin skin and hot juices inside. The chili wontons were a disappointment, not authentic at all, and I know it’s a Shanghainese restaurant and the dish is not from Shanghai but even so, there was absolutely no chili spice on there and weirdly enough there was peanut sauce?? That did not add to the flavors. The rice cakes were solid though, not too oily. Filling and not too pricy for NYC. Atmosphere 8/10 Quite busy, but they did have tables available on a Friday evening, which was great to see. Service 9/10 Super speedy, everything was really efficient and they were all very friendly. Super authentic Chinese experience! Soup dumplings were pretty good, and most stayed intact. They try to get as many customers through the door as possible. I can’t remember the last time I was asked “would you like anything else” then when replying no, being handed the bill without asking for it while there’s still food on my table. Washroom quite dirty, no toilet paper, and hand dryer was very weak. Our table had 2-3inches between the one next to it, so it basically felt like dining with strangers.

Food is efficiently served here and it’s open rather late which is good for those that are having a delayed dinner. Curry pork over rice was nice and had a slight spice kick.

Fast service and a huge menu this place was a bit overwhelming but they have a fast and efficient system set up. We got the spicy wontons and scallion pancake. The wontons were not our favorite, they came in a peanut sauce that was more like straight peanut butter and there was no real spice or heat but the filling was good quality. The scallion pancake was very crispy and oily. I’m more used to a Korean scallion pancake so this was a bit different texturally for me With all the other options in the area I probably wouldn’t go back, but I also don’t think you can go wrong trying some of the popular items on the menu.

Not bad at all! The sesame noodles were definitely the best thing we got out of the soup dumplings and fried dumplings. The seating is a bit limited due to it being busy, and you can only pay via Venmo and cash which wasn’t a concern for us but may be for others. It was good though!

Very solid Shangainese food, including dim sum. I particularly liked the soup dumplings and crispy eel. The braised noodles were okay, too soupy and clear, but the flavor was good. Everything tasted fresh. The staff was very attentive and present. It gets loud and crammed inside, good for a quick meal.

Great takeout spot! We ordered chicken and broccoli, fried rice, hot and sour soup, and hot and spicy wontons. Loved the fried rice and chicken and broccoli. The wontons were great but covered in peanut sauce. You definitely need to be a peanut fan to enjoy it. Hot and sour soup wasn’t bad but not great in my opinion. This will probably be one of our go to takeout spots going forward

Absolutely delicious, affordable find. As other reviewers mentioned, definitely get the fried tiny buns, though they are anything BUT tiny! Fluffy, chewy, flavorful with a delightfully crunchy bottom. I also loved the cold sesame noodles and would order again. We also got the vegetable fried rice, which was good but the buns and noodles I preferred. I also got the sesame chicken. Love the flavor and amount of sauce on the chicken. The tea they start the table off with was such a refreshing treat and the perfect way to start a meal. The food came out SO incredibly fast. It was amazing. Service was friendly and punctual. A great Chinatown spot I will definitely keep on my list of favorites.

• steamed pork & crab mixed buns - i unfortunately didn’t like these. nothing wrong with the structure or texture but the flavor itself. it fell flat to my expectations. perhaps the regular pork ones would suit my taste more? • scallion pancakes - i could have eaten at least three plates. it was so flaky. each bite had such a strong burst of flavor and it had a slight greasy feeling but the kind that makes you want to eat more. notes i’d like to return and try different dishes. i was a little put off by the sanitary conditions as there were buckets of used tablewear out in the open. the service was prompt and i had a good time. overall, i was sad that the soup dumplings didn’t align with me as i was looking forward to it. but! that shouldn’t deter you as everyone has different palates.

The food was okay, but nothing memorable. Prices felt high for what you get. Having been to countless cozier and more welcoming Chinese restaurants in Europe, this place just didn’t measure up in terms of atmosphere or overall experience.

I’ve been coming to this place for almost twenty years, and it’s good to see it’s still around. The soup dumplings here are legit, with thin skins and lots of soup/juice. Rice cake was also flavorful and very authentic the way Shanghainese people make it. The pan fried mini buns, however, were mediocre. The skin is too thin and lacked chewiness. It also didn’t have the crust on the bottom, a signature of the Shanghai pan fried mini buns.

The dumplings are good/the food is average. Super fast place, and super crowded. It became extremely popular over last few years, and now it is unbearably busy. They ask you if you are done, the minute you put chopsticks down to sip water. Every waiter will come over to ask - done? It is so crowded, that last time, my elbow got pushed twice, and I spilled the whole soup dumpling all over my cashmere sweater. They were super nice about it though. We used to love this space, but the food more average now and it is too busy.

A small Chinese restaurant that has been on my saved list for quite a while. This place is viral on social media. Overall, personally, it didn’t live up to the hype. We got the fried tiny buns, hot and spicy wontons, and spicy meat noodles. The best was the not really tiny fried buns. They were chewy but crispy on the outside which I liked, but they were oily that I got sick of it after the first one. The noodles and the wontons were okay: even though the names had spicy, they were not spicy at all. The noodles were big in portion, perfect for 2 people. I could only taste the peanut sauce on the wontons, and nothing else. If you don’t like oily food, then this restaurant is not for you. We came at 5 and got seated right away, but it was really packed during peak hours. I would maybe come back for the fried buns because I feel like I may crave it sometimes, but I think it’s possible to find places that make them better.

Alright first of all the food was Allright ✊️✊️✊️올라잇삼창돌격. But the waiter pretty much coerced me to tip. Can a guy live? My mom is kind of homeless. Anyway. Fried rice is bit bland but the xiaolongbao was ideal, nothing out of the ordinary. When my mom is financially stable I'll probably be able to afford this place again.

Deluxe Green Bo in New York City’s Chinatown is known for serving authentic Shanghainese cuisine at very affordable prices. Disappointing - got three different dumplings and none really were super flavorful and seemed to have been over cooked / boiled / steamed. Outdoor seating also meant that they got cold very quickly. Very reasonably priced overall.

Tourist trap with modern day Social Media marketing. The food here is bad. It WILL make you sick. Long lines always and cash only. Super cramped seating next to strangers We got their Rice Cakes (tasted only like Chili Oil) and Dumplings (no taste at all). The saving grace was the garlic dipping oil which we used until the last drop. Skip this place please

Listen. The food is good, and you will definitely enjoy it. The service was fast and the food came even faster. Even though the service was fast, it was nothing to write home about. They took the order, put it down, and that’s it. No ‘can I get you anything else’ or ‘how is everything for you?’. Just taking an order, putting it on the table. If that’s your vibe - great! But for me personally it does not warrant a big tip. We paid our bill and the waiter rushed over to us to say we needed to leave a bigger tip. When we put a little bit more down he urged us to put down even more. We felt that if we didn’t obey they wouldn’t let us leave. It was such a weird experience and put me off of ever going back again.

The staff was very rude. I understand Chinese and the entire time they were talking about us. My dish tasted like soap and they didn't offer to refund and replace my meal.

I’d been wanting to try Deluxe Green Bo for ages, especially for their steamed pork dumplings and hot and sour soup. My husband wasn’t in the mood to eat there, but I convinced him to come in with me anyway. When I placed my order (which was over $16), we were told we had to order more because it’s a $9 minimum per person. It was 5:38 PM, the restaurant was nearly empty, and we clearly weren’t planning a long meal — I just wanted a quick bite and to finally try the dumplings. It felt rigid and unwelcoming, especially when we were the only ones in there. I understand minimums during peak hours or when tables are in demand, but this felt unnecessarily strict. Disappointed with the service and the inflexibility.

Xiao long bao and shen jian bao were good with well made wrappers and soft chewy dough. Spicy wontons were covered in peanut butter for some reason but would have been significantly better without it. Word of warning: they will chase after you if you leave less than 20% tip which is outrageous when they never engaged with us besides taking our order. An otherwise decent experience ruined.

Was here a few years ago. It may have changed the owner or the way they do business. Food is not impressive. Lower than average of my expectation of Chinatown restaurants. Service is OK, however they forced the 18% tip added to your bill - it changed how you define/expect service tip and make you don't want ever come back - it is sad to see how the tipping culture at the US has changed from worst to the worst - how often do you now see the business automatically add 20% to your already taxed bill. The restaurant is for tourists and don't expect you come back any way. Dish1: veggie too salty Dish 2: too sweet (come from bottle sauce sugar) Dish 3: too bland and oily inside at the same time (crab meat is supposed to be fresh and juicy but it used too much fat for the source and lack of freshness of crab meat) Food is probably lower than 3-star. Tipping experience has lowed the whole experience to 1-star/below. Will not come back again.

I ordered the Twice-Cooked Pork over Rice, and it was honestly one of the worst meals I’ve ever had in Chinatown. The dish was extremely salty, to the point where it was almost inedible. More importantly, it didn’t resemble twice-cooked pork at all — no proper aroma, no texture, no balance. It felt like a random salty stir-fry thrown together with no understanding of the dish. I honestly have to ask: Is this supposed to be a Jiangsu–Zhejiang–Shanghai style “twice-cooked pork”? If so, it completely misses the mark. I’ve eaten in Chinatown for years and have never had something this bad. It really feels like the restaurant is just taking advantage of customers who won’t complain, serving careless food with no respect for authenticity or quality. Very disappointing. I won’t be coming back.
