Earl is the GOAT! Good, nice people deserve recognition in this city. I get springbone at least 1-2x a week and the food is consistently fresh and high quality. Thanks so much!
The vibe here is perfect for daily unwinding. Nothing out of place. This spot deserves its own rating category. Their team balances friendliness with attentiveness. Visit this spot and you'll be glad you came.
If you want to.eat food made with heart, carefully and with good quality ingredients (And just prices) this is the place, I'm really glad to had given me the opportunity to taste the food on this place, you'll gonna love it. I visited the Greenwich Village location and tried the Mexican bowl and I hace to say it was marvelous!!!! 100% recommended!
We had such a great experience here. They make delicious, healthy, simple bowls with amazing flavor. There are a nice set of options from bowls to salads with various meat and topping combinations. The hot sauce is killer! The service was so good, the staff was friendly and welcoming and generous. They were tops! We will be back for sure! The facilities were clean, everyone wore a mask and gloves- and it’s nice to grab to go and head to the park.
I hadn’t tried Springbone because I thought it was just broth, so I was really surprised when I found so many other nutritious offerings! There are various bowls from which to choose, all with no added sugars, no soy, and no gluten! The entrance is accessible with a ramp. The restaurant is quick serve/grab and go.
I ordered line in advance and great pick up experience. I had the seasonal veggie bowl. This was actually my first time trying springbone. The food was not bad and not better than I expected, but I think it’s a little overpriced. However, I may give another try next time for other flavors
UPDATE: the owner has since advised he’s retrained his staff to not dispense the broth after it gets down to a certain level - this should eliminate the grease problem. I’ve since had both the chicken and beef and it’s clean and not greasy. Thank you for righting your ship! +++ Let me state up front the food is great in the healthy hearty bowl space (though I wish they’d hold off making practically everything spicy) - but I’m giving 1 star to flag an issue with the bone broth. It’s not defatted—for non-keto people you’re consuming a MASSIVE amount of saturated fat and cholesterol in every cup (see photos). After sipping the chicken broth and noticing the greasy feel on my palate, I took it home to refrigerate overnight as a test. Sure enough, look at the thick layer of grease on top (see photos). Springbone should invest in a stock dispenser that draws from the bottom (like a watering can) so the fat floating on the top stays separate from the stock. It’s not perfect (as the fat won’t separate as cleanly under heat), but it’s better than this. Or, chill, defat and reheat. I know it’s an extra step, but if you build your brand on bone broth it should be done right.
The broccoli was the only thing that’s good. I had a salmon make your bowl and the ingredients tasted so old! I’m pretty bummed out about this. The salmon had a really fishy taste and the rest just tasted a few days old?
Just a more bland version of all of the other bowl restaurants out there these days, and more expensive with more limited options (and no wrap). The only interesting thing is the soup, which I might try, but for bowls or salads it's a no.
I don't know why I even came here I just passed by and heard it was good, but of course not. I walk in and immediately crowded by fresh NYU kids from Malibu. I should have just gotten a Chinese restaurant chicken and rice for cheaper and better. The bowl was not good.
I actually love their broth and really wanted to like the rest of their menu items but my god was the bowl I ordered absolutely atrocious. I’ve never seen anything like it- an entire chicken breast half cold, unseasoned, tough, and uncut, foul smelling ingredients, I couldn’t even pick out what ingredients were stale because the entire bowl felt old and stale. Their bone broth rice also didn’t really have any particular feel to it, which I was quite disappointed about. Genuinely the worst meal I’ve had in this city so far, and I really do not leave bad reviews often. Their soup is fantastic but NEVER try their bowls
This was the worst food I think I’ve had in at least a decade. Worse than airline food, worse than in-patient hospital food. I had the chili tofu noodles- the noodles were sour in a way like they had gone bad, the pickles were soft and offputting, the tofu was bitter. The broccoli was strangely very good. It tasted like the entire bowl had been microwaved all together at least twice. Because I was really hungry, I ate about a quarter of it before throwing it out. The person taking the order was also extremely rude- while I was looking at the menu she shouted “WHAT DO YOU WANT” from across the room, and after I ordered she shooed me away with her hand. Even if you need something gluten free desperately and there is no other choice, don’t come here. It is disgusting.
Nasty. First time and last time. Chicken is mostly dark meat. Just has a gross taste. Brussels seem blackened…I guess. Sweet potatoes are undercooked. Bone broth rice seems catch/trendy but not tasty. Pickled items are pickled. I navigated the bowl to eat the rice, Brussels and pickled items. Mainly bc I spent so much on this nasty lunch. Butternut squash soup very meh as well. Portion is decent but inedible…for me.
What is going on here?… Someone or some entity please take the wheel!..yikes. I’ve been to this location multiple times since they’ve opened and lately something’s been off about the staff. Despite past vibes..I recently had surgery and needed to eat soft foods and decided I would just be hopeful and give it a shot one more time.. Well…I made a very large purchase of a mix of fresh soups and frozen broths to last me throughout most of my recovery and sadly when I opened one of the frozen broths after thawing I was sad to see I had encountered the same issue as the reviewer who commented about the fatty broth (except worse.) It seemed as if most of the broth was fat not just the top layer. It didn’t even look like broth. I called immediately and told them I’d have to come in to exchange and the person a I spoke to sounded “okay” (not apologetic or anything) and agreed to do an exchange, didn’t offer delivery or anything at all. I just went with it since this I guess good customer service is not what I really come here for lol. Well I sent my partner the next day since I couldn’t physically go and he too informed me that an employee made it a point to demonstratively show their irritation about this extreme inconvenience for them. They opened the containers, sniffed them, rolled their eyes and threw out the obviously inedible broth and were irritable throughout the entire transaction. As if this was our fault or like we were exaggerating the issue. I’ve made broth for years and know what it’s supposed to taste and look like and just decided to invest my time and money (almost $200) because I didn’t feel I had the energy to make it myself this time. But when you encounter these extremely unprofessional, and questionable standards with the people selling our food it’s concerning to think about what is going with the food and service industry. What is this entitlement about ? Are you not profiting from consumers? I had half joked with my partner to ask for a free cookie to see if they just offer it for our inconvenience …and should they not offer I had asked him just to buy it if nothing was offered. Well of course nothing was offered, and, he didn’t even feel comfortable in asking for the cookie because the employee was so irritable. So now I’m just in bed disappointed I spent my money here AND have no cookie,..yay.. How sad, I guess I’ll plan to cook from home from now on! Eek. I’ve never left a negative review online ever ..but you witness a close loved one be treated in this way it just does the trick. Please see the picture, it’s quite revolting. Do better.
Worst place I’ve ever been. They made me eat their mistakes. When I was waiting there, all of us smelled that, something was burning. Some of the employers even discussed “it smells so bad!” So the way they solved it is burying it under your wild rice. Maybe they did that because I was ordering food to go. I can only find out after left there so they don’t need to care about it. Grandma’ Chicken & Rice kills🤮 Recommend to people who love BBQ.
