Stunning teas and tea-ware. Tea Journey was so enjoyable. This shop & the proprietress are amazing! Can’t wait to return.
My friend and I decided to take a chance and visit on a Monday afternoon, and it ended up being the best hour spent. We were lucky to be the only ones in the shop. The owner recommended an oolong tea and we did a tasting where she steeped the same tea five times. It was quiet and contemplative, and she had a wealth of knowledge about tea and guided us through the experience. The shop is quiet, cozy, and full of beautiful tea ceramics. We left feeling a complete energy shift - grounded, joyful, relaxed. Highly recommend!!
This place is truly a hidden gem in the city. They offer a chance to enjoy high-quality Chinese and Korean teas. You can choose to reserve a table to brew your own tea, join a tasting session guided by a knowledgeable tea curator, or simply grab a cup of tea to go. Their selection is impressive — I was recommended a fresh white tea (Xincha Bai Mudan), and I even had the chance to try a rare Korean Hwangcha, which is a fermented tea. It was a wonderful experience, and I believe anyone can learn to appreciate tea here, whether you’re already a tea lover or just beginning your journey.
Quiet and relaxing stop. Teresa clearly has a passion for tea and really made the experience memorable. Went through 3 tastings and wish I had time for a fourth.
TShop was an amazing experience! We had a tea tasting with Teresa and could not have asked for a better experience. While our timing was a little off (we had to wait about fifteen minutes and then went half an hour later than originally scheduled) every other detail was amazing. Teresa asked about our tea preferences and experiences and curated an individual tea tasting experience, full of interesting history and information. The place is small – there was one other group when we started and another which walked in right before we left, but had the place to ourselves for most of the experience. We tried Taiwanese, Chinese, and Korean teas, which were each steeped four different times. As we tried each, Teresa shared with us the history and traditions of the teas, the significance behind different practices, and her personal experiences of visiting different tea regions across the world. We will definitely be back 🫖
I emailed to inquire whether we could have a tea tasting and met with Hyun, one of the owners. She helped me decide on some aged raw puerh that was incredibly potent and forced us all to focus on the experience. We followed that up with a roasty Wuyi oolong and ended with a smooth and sweet Wuyi black tea. I would highly recommend the Tea Journey to anyone from absolute tea beginner to tea aficionado. Can't wait to revisit New York City specifically to return and visit again!
Had such a wonderful, educational, and insightful experience on T Shop's Tea Journey. I cannot recommend enough for everyone, whether you know nothing about tea and are interested or know a lot and want to learn more!
Stumbled upon this shop when looking for tea tasting places and what a great find! Had a great time and learned so much, Theresa was so knowledgeable! Highly recommend to anyone!

The tea tasting is a wonderful activity to do with friends, coworkers, or even a group of strangers. This quiet tearoom is hidden at the end of a corridor, so it really feels like a refuge. Hyun, one of the owners, took ample time to share expertise, accommodate our questions, and was always kind and patient. An absolutely worth it experience for tea beginners, enthusiasts, or experts!
Very nice and relaxing. Came away with great tea and recs
Fantastic experience! Theresa is an excellent host, and the teas were phenomenal. I absolutely recommend booking the tea journey- it was worth every penny, and I learned so much!
Theresa is delightful and so knowledgeable. This was just the kind of experience I was looking for in NY paired with amazing quality tea. Whether you want her to lead a session or just do your own thing, or just pick up some quality tea, I highly recommend stopping by here or checking out their online store.
Visited TShop today for a Tea Journey tea tasting. The owner was very friendly and guided us through the tea tasting, sharing her vast knowledge about tea. She was very easy to talk to and you just feel like you're chatting with a friend and learning about the teas along the way. We were able to try teas that we don't often see elsewhere, such as the Boseang tea. The space is tucked away in a building far from the busy streets of trendy Nolita, it feels peaceful and quiet. It was a great experience and the hour went by very quickly. Many customers came in to buy brewed tea to go, or to just have tea and hang out there as one would at a cafe. Highly recommended for trying the tea tasting or just visiting for a tea!
I've done the tea journey here three times and absolutely loved it. Theresa, the owner, is so knowledgeable about every aspect of the tea, from the logistics of how it is made to the spiritual side of tea drinking and the embodied experience. It's honestly such a unique experience and I really recommend it if you're looking to learn more about tea but also self reflect.
I’m so glad one of my friends introduced me to this hidden gem! The quiet tearoom offers a peaceful escape from the hustle and bustle of the street. It’s tucked behind a psychic shop, so you have to walk through a corridor to get to it, with no storefront directly on the sidewalk. The warm, relaxing decor creates the perfect atmosphere for both good conversation and enjoying delicious tea. We tried the Royal Oolong, which was beautifully roasted, and I’m already looking forward to returning to explore more of their offerings!
I am so glad to have found T Shop. “Tea journeys” (tastings of three teas) with Theresa have become part of my weekly ritual of late, and I am so grateful for Theresa’s wisdom and for the practice. I have also had “tea at the table” with friends for a more casual but equally wonderful experience. In both instances, T Shop is a beautiful oasis and a perfect antidote to the NYC bustle, not to mention the tea is of amazing quality and, if you ask Theresa / Hyun, there is a story behind each one. I can’t encourage others to try it enough! (They also do to-go cups if that is more your speed at the moment.)
This tea shop is a real hidden gem. It is a little hard to spot, but well worth the effort. Inside, you'll find a reprieve from the busyness of the city and quiet place to enjoy a cup of tea. The owner is very welcoming and is more than happy to share her experience. There is a wide selection of teas of all kinds. I had the honey orchid phoenix oolong. It was well balanced and smooth with an wonderful finish. I highly recommend a visit, especially if you are into Chinese teas.
I've done a couple tea tastings at T Shop, the most recent one being earlier this summer. Theresa and Hyun are excellent guides and know their teas so well. I was so impressed with the tasting Theresa put together for me on this most recent trip. Offering just a few sparse details about the type of experience I was looking for, Theresa seemed to know exactly what would feel right. I felt cared for as a customer and respected and invested in as a fellow tea drinker. And the teas...really wonderful. You cant tell a lot of thought and effort goes into the curation of their collection. The shop is cozy, clean, and quiet. I can't wait until my next trip!

Had a great time with Nishan who explained a lot about the history and production of tea! He guided us through a couple of tastings. They have a wide selection of teas from mainland China, Taiwan and Korea. The setting is quite intimate, being small and quiet, but it’s definitely worth visiting! Would recommend!
I walked in with my best friend yesterday on a whim in the evening. We met the owner and immediately she greeted us with so much warmth and compassion- we ended up having a tea tasting on the spot (for the Red Water oolong, it was so good) It's small, quiet, and serene. The attention to detail and attentiveness to our experience was so lovely. Also, the shops decor and teaware was so so beautiful. I cannot wait to come back. Will be buying online soon! Thanks so much 💝
Very neat, quiet, intentional and intimate tea room in the heart of soho. Limited seating so either reserve seats for a tasting or get lucky with walking in to some availability. They also offer tea to go, but it feels like a place that you ought to go to experience the tea. The lady who served us was very knowledgeable and thoroughly explained a few different teas when we asked for her suggestions. Extensive menu if you know your teas. I will be back to learn more.
The tea here is superb! From the first cup of my gaiwan-brewed guided tasting, Old Bush Dan Cong Man Tang Xiang was poignantly flavorful. Even for my amateur tongue, the notes (grape skin with its slight bitterness) hit with astonishing strength, setting it apart from nearly every other tea I've had. The feel became rounder with each subsequent steeping, and my tea expert taught me the best way to breathe after a cup to fully enjoy the lingering aroma. At the end of my tasting, I refused to try another tea because I was still thoroughly enjoying the aftertaste, which had morphed to a full juiciness that kept me smiling for at least 15 minutes after leaving the store. So why not 5 stars? I would have given 4.5 stars if I could. Truthfully this comes from disappointment that my experience was so brief. After the 5th steeping, I was told that was all the guided tasting included. I don't know if I missed this information in fine print somewhere, but I was expecting at least 9 steepings. I've done at least 12 with a gongfu-brewed high quality red tea that I would've kept steeping (there was a beautiful sweet potato flavor that was still so strong even after so many steeps) if I hadn't had to go. Plus, part of how I judge a tea is by how many steeps I can get out of it, especially since high quality tea is pricy and thus a luxury for me. I figure this is a guideline intended to get through long lines of customers, but I was the only customer when I arrived, the entire time I was there, and when I left. Definitely stop by for the high quality tea and the knowledgeable and friendly workers, but maybe factor in service rules that might prevent you from getting as much tea as possible out of a single pot if that matters to you.
