My wife and I have enjoyed some great meals here throughout the years. We even had our wedding party of 23 people here on New Year's Eve in 2021 and all went perfectly. We were worried when the establishment changed hands but the new owners have faithfully kept the tradition of amazing food and service - I'd say they even improved it as the atmosphere looks and feels brighter and more welcoming than ever. Everything on the menu I've had is good, but there is no better place to enjoy surf and turf in my opinion. You also can't go wrong with the classic Beef Wellington. Sunday meal specials for two are an awesome deal when you don't feel like cooking before your start to the work week.

Great food and great customer service. For someone with a gluten sensitivity I felt very comfortable ordering the gluten free options. Will definitely be back for more delicious food!

One of my favorite restaurants. Totally worth the short drive. The food and wine selection are top-notch. We're fortunate to have such a nice place close by. The chef is excellent, and the atmosphere comfortable and classy. Prices are below what you'd find for this level of dining in any city.

What a fabulous evening we had! We were heading home after a road trip and was staying in Owego for the night. Made reservations and grateful to have gotten in. I had the monkfish special and my husband had the filet mignon. It was all fabulous! The fish was so fresh and the flavor combination of lemon, olives, and celery, was brilliant. So delicious! The house salad was phenomenal but the dressing?? So good we bought a bottle to take home. Our server Sandy was attentive, helpful, and so friendly. We will definitely be back! I highly recommend this restaurant! Make sure you make reservations, this is a very popular restaurant!

I’ve always enjoyed the cellar, but was a little worried when on a Saturday night we were notified they were short staffed. The food did take longer than it normally does, however, the quality was still excellent. The drinks were great, the bread was fresh, and the service, while slower, was still as courteous as ever. Still highly recommend

We always have a fabulous meal, drinks and service at the Cellar Restaurant! For every special occasion, we book the Cellar! Tonight we celebrated our daughter's graduation with her masters... Sandy made sure she had the gluten free appetizers ready for my daughter, the dinners were fantastic, all nine of us had a wonderful evening. They did not rush us, gave us our space to relax and enjoy each other's company. The food is always consistent, delicious and plentiful! A must to try!👍🙂❤

Unstated and underrated for sure. They have very good food at good prices. The staff is just good people and want to show you a good experience. We enjoyed our date night and suggest the Cellar to all our friends. The steak was good, appetizers were delicious and drinks were great. Thank you!

Ohmigosh, love, love The Cellar! I don't think I've had one thing on the menu that isn't delicious! The owner is the chef, which is always so impressive to me, and he clearly takes great pride in his work, rightfully so. Service is always friendly and timely, and you can always count on an extraordinary meal.

Went there yesterday for the first time ever for my mother's birthday. What a great atmosphere. The food and service was excellent!! I will be happy to tell my friends and family to try out your restaurant. We will be coming back very soon. Thank you for a great evening of fine service and hospitality.

Great restaurant on the finer side of dinning for this area! This place has great steaks a beautiful view and a hard working family who runs this establishment. They also have a great selection of wines some are local but all are of great quality! Always treated with respect and we have never had a bad meal always a great dinning experience! Would recommend this location to anyone!

I've loved this restaurant since I was a little girl and would go antiqueing with my mother. The cellar potato is the same delicious masterpiece it was 20 years ago

Elegant and nice cozy atmosphere. Food was top class and fresh all around.I enjoyed all items tremendously and the spicing was deep and thoughtful. Of course the service was not at the Michelin standard yet is was better for me as it was homey and personal; friendly I guess would be the word. I did not feel like a first time guest I felt like a friend and that makes it taste better! I will be back for sure, hats off to The Cellar Restaurant.

Excellent Sunday Brunch!!! Had the Filet Mignon Eggs Benedict with Lobster Hash, in a word amazing. I didn't even know that was a thing. The father son chef team in kitchen sure do have it together back there. Our server was very attentive. The view of the Susquehanna River was enjoyable as well.

The ambiance is just right: quietly upscale without being pretentious. The service is spot on, and runs on the formal side, which is actually quite nice. The food is outstanding, fresh and beautifully prepared. The menu is what really makes the restaurant shine, with high-end fare sharing equal space with basic comfort food. Prices are very fair, especially considering the quality you're getting.

Great staff. Justin and John took care of us well. I came here wanting a Beef Wellington. It was better than expected. I also enjoyed the conversation afterword with John (that I initiated) and his knowledge about Beef Wellingtons. My wife and I both ordered one and she can give her opinion. First rate Chefs, first rate staff. First rate atmosphere. Loved it thanks you.

I am a Celiac and always nervous about being contaminated at restaurants. The chef knew about cooking gluten free and he took really good care of my special needs. I had one of the best tuna dishes ever! My meal was perfect!

The Cellar is a great place to go for leisurely cocktails at the bar or a delicious dinner in the dining room. The new owners have remodeled and the decor is very warm and welcoming. The menu basically remains the same with some new additions. The Sunday brunch is very popular. I would recommend making reservations, but walk ins are usually seated quickly. A great place to eat or have a cocktail if you're in Owego.

Sandy's service was flawless, we had a party of 10 for brunch 2 children included...she was patient and kind. I felt as though I was visiting family...all of the staff were genuinely kind. I ordered the Maryland crab cakes Benedict...it was perfect. I enjoyed the home fries, and I loved the poached eggs, which I am typically not a fan of because they're usually not the texture that I prefer, but these poached eggs were perfect (I mean not soft and slimy). The crab cakes were more crab (real crab) than breading. Nothing was too greasy, not even the home fries. The spinach on the eggs Benedict was sauteed with the perfect amount of seasoning, it wasn't too salty and it didn't lack flavor. The cocktails were definitely worth it! I had a bloody Mary, and my mom had a margarita which I tried, and it's not watered down. I believe that my nephew had mimosas...three of them lol. It was the best dining experience I've had in years. I just moved back from Atlanta, glad to get great food and be treated as a guest.

I went to The Cellar for the first time on Jan. 3. I loved everything about it!! The atmosphere, the decor, the bar/lounge area, the restaurant area, the energy, the food, the cocktails and the welcoming staff. Our server, Chelsea, was so attentive & friendly. I was craving a peach martini of some kind and had read on Pinterest about one with specific ingredients. Chelsea was so good about checking with the bar staff on what ingredients were on hand and whether they could make this particular drink….and totally was able to produce it! It was delish!! I will definitely be back and will ask to be seated in Chelsea’s area again!!

Great place! Went there on Saturday the 14th and got the Mussels which were perfect, and a little Surf and Turf Filet with Scallops. The portions were generous, and the Filet was cooked to a perfect medium rare. The chef was on point with his seafood - those scallops were the star of the show. Our server (Riley I think his name was) was extremely knowledgeable and offered excellent recommendations and paced our dinner out perfectly. He knew his beer, complimented our choices, communicated the specials perfectly, and even had the perfect touch of humor, which I always appreciate. Probably the best service I've ever received as far as I remember. Definitely recommend this spot!

T
Terri Polley

Had a great meal, 4 persons. Sandy, our sever was knowledgeable, polite and personable. The chef selections all sounded amazing - the scallops I finally decided on were some of the best I’ve ever had. The mushroom appetizer was excellent. The bar had our favorite whiskey, though no CA Zinfandel’s. The service was excellent. Great place.

B

Service was good, the atmosphere was relaxing, the waitress very friendly and food was very good and plenty. Try the fried mac and cheese with the jalapeno jelly, it's not spicy and is very good. Salad with nuts and cheese?? Very good! Fried Reuben balls with that mustard, whoa, so good. I've been wanting to try this place out, so glad my husband remembered. Will definitely be back.

Went to the Cellar for dinner tonight and like usual, it never let's us down. I felt it was time to leave a review. It doesn't matter if you're going there for brunch on Sundays, lunch during the week, or having dinner....this place is always excellent! You can tell that a lot of time is spent on each dish and thought goes into making everything as delicious as possible. The staff is always so friendly and attentive too. This restaurant never disappoints! And just saying, if you're ever there on Sunday for brunch...the steak and lobster hash is amazing. Get the homemade danishes too. Can't go wrong!

M

Our first time at the cellar restaurant. And the food was awesome. Our waitress could use a little more ambition, I had to ask for a drink refill 3 times. But she partnered with another waitress who was also the owner, and she was very responsive. A most enjoyable experience and would recommend this place to everyone.

B

Last night my family and I went out here for dinner! This place had such a nice and calm atmosphere, which was perfect after a long week of work! Our waitress, Cassondra was so sweet and helped us with anything we needed! She was so great that I would recommend asking for her specifically! The food was absolutely amazing and worth the money! I would highly recommend!

I can’t believe I’ve never known about this place. My sister introduced me to the owner who was very nice and explained a lot of the dishes that they make. It’s very clean and the atmosphere was so relaxing. We are going there for brunch and we are all looking forward to that! The breakfast we had was great, along with great service. The homemade danishes are a must! Although I have not been there for dinner it’s definitely on my list, the menu looks amazing!!

Went in last night for my Birthday dinner, ordered some seafood flatbread / chicken tenders / smoked salmon / the mashed potatoes & the mussels which was recommended by the waiter, absolutely loved the Mussels & didn’t try any main course as we were already stuffed & had a late dinner.

L

I've been here twice now and the food is amazing! The first time my aunts and I stopped in for drinks and shared three apps- the portobello fritters, the mac n cheese bites, and the Ruben bites. All three were to die for! My husband and I then stopped in this Sunday, I had a Moscow Mule and the scallop app, he had the Brie and potato. Once again all 3 were delicious! Scallops are one of my ABSOLUTE favourite foods and these were the best I've had in ages! Cooked perfectly, and the jalapeño cream was PERFECT to accompany them! 10/10 would recommend!! We will definitely be back!

Wonderful food and excellent staff! Went on a Saturday evening and it was busy, as usual. Never had a meal we didn't like and enjoy and have never experienced long waits. If you want super quick go to a drivethru. These are homemade creations that you can't get just anywhere! Would highly recommend and go there often. Thank you for your hard work and dedication to the owners, bar staff, waiters, waitresses and kitchen staff! 😀

The wait staff was incredibly friendly, attentive, and knowledgeable. My server (whose name I unfortunately didn’t catch because I HIGHLY recommend him - all I can say is tall with orange hair and beard - was great about checking in on order status or food outcome without rushing or crowding you. Seafood Czarina (cream sauce mild spice) was phenomenal and well worth the price!! Homemade chocolate raspberry ganache was so delicate and flavorful. Great experience and I cannot wait to return! Only change is I wish they listed their beer offerings.

The food was very good, worth the price. We went for Valentine's Day dinner, the lobster Mac n Cheese was excellent and so was the Seafood Czarina. Our waiter was attentive and kind. He had good suggestions and input about the food. Was attentive to our needs and brought us drink refills. I would recommend eating there for special occasions such as Valentine's or anniversary or if you want to treat yourself to a delicious meal.

Had a wonderful dinner almost at closing time last Saturday. Overheard some guests that were there before us talking about how crazy it was earlier. The entire staff handled it all professionally and with ease. They were attentive to us, even though it was late and I'm sure they were ready to go home. The food was cooked they way we liked it. Everything tasted great. And the chef even sent out a side of turnips for us to try, because we both asked to sub out for baked potatoes. Such a pleasant evening! Thank you all!

K

WOW! I can’t say ENOUGH about this wonderful gem in Owego! The atmosphere is world class - sparkly chandeliers, sultry colors, elegant artwork - and it overlooks the Susquehanna River! On top of that- wonderful craft cocktails, curated wine list and fun selection of beers on tap! The shining star on top of all that!? The FOOD! We had a group of us and ordered the house bread & cajun calamari to start - delish! Entrees ranged from the signature French Onion Burger (the best burger I’ve EVER had- no contest ) to petite surf & turf. Steaks were cooked perfectly and the seafood sides were unique and delish! Ended the night with the Chef’s homemade Peanut Butter pie - it was so full of flavor but fluffy and airy you couldn’t even dream of it having any calories. A showstopper. RUN - don’t walk to this establishment. You won’t be disappointed!

We heard the Cellar is under new ownership and can't wait to visit again in the near future!!! Ps. It wouldn't let us "delete" and we agree a review for something that happened before you owned/operated is not fair so you are 5 stars pending :) we'll be in to check out the vibes soon.

I recently had the pleasure of dining at The Cellar Restaurant & Bar on the River, and I must say, it was an unforgettable experience. Nestled along the picturesque riverfront, the ambiance of the restaurant is simply enchanting, offering stunning views and a relaxed atmosphere. From the moment I stepped through the door, I was greeted with warm hospitality and attentive service. The staff went above and beyond to ensure that my dining experience was nothing short of exceptional. As for the food, it was truly outstanding. Each dish was expertly prepared with the freshest ingredients, and the flavors were simply divine. Whether indulging in seafood specialties or savoring classic comfort dishes, every bite was a delight for the taste buds. In addition to the delicious cuisine, The Cellar Restaurant & Bar on the River also offers an impressive selection of beverages. My son, his girlfriend and I ate here on December 20, 2025. I have a sensitivity issue with garlic, onions, and high fructose amongst other things. I ordered the salmon but was not able to have the teriyaki sauce it was in. I asked if the chef could do something for me that did not include onion or garlic. The chef made a butter and lemon sauce to put over the delicious piece of salmon that was cooked to perfection. It was fabulous! The server insured that the side of potatoes did not have any garlic or onion as well. The salad with blu cheese dressing was, again, excellent as well. I very much appreciate the special treatment I received for my sensitive gut. We will eat there again for sure. Thank you to the staff.

I came here with a party of six for brunch and everything was great! We all got different dishes and everyone loved their food. We ended up here b/c we tried to go to MJ's but they were too busy, and I'm glad they were — I much prefer The Cellar! I couldn't believe how empty it was for how great the food and service were. Nice ambiance and very reasonable prices too. Excited to go back again.

This is a nice place with multiple distinct vibes. The main dining room and bar area are classy and relaxed, with rich woods and leather. The back dining room overlooks the water and is almost like a sun room. Then there is the porch area, where you can enjoy the weather and stand outside. In a way, The Cellar is like if you took Moxie Grill in Conklin, NY and mixed it with MJ’s in Owego. Overall, the food was so good that my dinner can be mistaken for a stock photo. This restaurant continues to be a solid addition to Owego’s restaurant lineup.

10 out of 10 food, service & experience! After myself moving from a larger more populated city it has been difficult to find a full food experience in this region until I found this spot. By far the best salad that I’ve had in the region, great mixologist behind the bar (Jon) and all around friendly staff. And coming from an artist perspective, the decor and ambiance of the space is also a huge win!

beautiful ambience and excellent food! I had the impossible burger with mushrooms and it was absolutely 10/10. my boyfriend got a beef burger and said it might be the best he's ever had (the patties are 50/50 ground filet mignon & ground chuck). the fried calamari was great too. the bar is historic and beautiful and the light fixtures + artwork throughout are gorgeous. sad we live 2 hours away and can't be regulars!

Wow! What an amazing experience. The dining room is beautiful and the decor is great. We were met with the sweetest waitstaff, Chelsea, who helped us get a signature martini that was not on the menu. Both bartender and waitstaff hit a home run! The dinner was absolutely devine. I had the tenderloin and shrimp risotto and I ate in silence so I could savor every moment. Well done The Cellar. I can’t wait to return!

10/10 absolutely incredible. Amazing food, atmosphere, and service. I got a Tequila sunrise (great color and taste), and the steak and eggs (amazing flavor and cooked to perfection) and the potatoes were absolutely phenomenal! Friendly staff. Great food. Husband loved the huge mojito. Mussels were delicious, they had lots of garlic. The house salad was tasty as well the homemade red Italian dressing was different but I enjoyed the walnuts and cheese on the salad as well. My husband loved the homemade marinara with his pasta. If we are ever in the area again we would definitely stop by.

I had the special cajun catfish. It was very good. We split a buffalo bacon ranch flat bread pizza also very good. My wife had the chicken bartolucci. It was very good . Staff was friendly. Place was clean. Only thing wrong was potatoes were cold on my wife's plate.

Neat restaurant with a formal but comfortable feel. I tried beef Wellington which was very good. They were having an Oktoberfest with a buffet that looked delicious and I noticed nearly every other customer seemed to be enjoying. Prices are reasonable while food and presentation were excellent.

Went as a group of 9. The food was really good. I got a burger with sweet potato fries and their french onion soup. All of it was amazing. Our waitress was very nice and attentive. Only cons was there's not a kids menu. This is a nicer restaurant were I normally wouldn't bring my kids but we were having dinner with out of town family. Thankfully they did have chicken tenders on the appetizer menu. The other con is they are on the slower side. We did have 9 so I can understand that but even with the soups and salad it did take a while to receive and only a few of us got them. Also I've been before with my husband and thought the same, that they were on the slower side. So prepare for a long dinner.

A very nice restaurant in a lovely old building, lots of character. Was seated in the main dining room but I would recommend seating overlooking the river. I had a seafood dish. Unfortunately the lobster and scallops were somewhat overcooked, however the flavors in the sauce and the pasta were delicious. The other people in my party were pleased with their dinners. I recommend this restaurant and will certainly return.

V

Pretty good restaurant, very pricy though. The atmosphere is phenomenal, and we only experienced service at the bar area but the bartender was courteous and quick with our requests. The food is good, but the portion sizes are a bit disappointing. I got the surf and turf filet mignon with pan-fried scallops, and while I expected the filet mignon to be small, I only got 3 scallops, 2 small roasted potatoes, and like 10 green beans as sides, for a big price. My favorite was my starter, the fried mac and cheese with the jalapeno jam was a delight. Overall the prices here are a bit on the high side, but most of the food is worth it; my friend got smoked salmon, however, and it wasn't smoked at all (no char on it). He got it sent back and the chef was courteous enough to provide him with shrimp, and properly smoked salmon (that had a char this time). They have a superb selection of beer and cocktails, I loved everything I tried. It's a nice place to stop for dinner, but expect it to break your wallet a bit.

We visited for my son in laws birthday. Food was delicious. We started out with flatbreads, we shared the seafood and prosciutto ones. Dinners ranged from surf and turf to rack of lamb. Beer selection and cocktails were very good. We had a wonderful time. We will be back.

The Cellar Restaurant is a very popular place in Owego with high end food on the verge of an affordable price. The wait was about two hours when my party first tried to get in, which was completely understandable, so we waited. The staff were very friendly and polite and the restaurant looked and smelled amazing. I got the steak and French onion soup. Though the food was delicious, my steak was underdone quite a bit. However, I’m not sure if I have ever had a better French onion soup. Despite the underdone steak, I had a great experience and left satisfied!

Good food and drinks. I usually sit at the bar to eat. They also have a Sunday brunch which is nice if you sit on the back porch facing the river. I had the corned beef hash skillet which was too salty (the corned beef). My friend had the Mediterranean omelet which he thoroughly enjoyed. The backdoor omelet was good.

The food was great once it finally came out . Waited over an hour and there was many open tables. -You can call in for reservations. -Overall vibes were very in a very cute town. -street parking only .

Food was average and higher priced than it really needed to be. The beef Wellington was a bit of a letdown as well because the meat was not seasoned. It is not a classic beef Wellington either, the puff pastry is draped over top instead with too much mushroom filling and the beef was suspiciously smaller than the menu description.

The 3 stars is really only because of the good food. We had reservations for 5pm, and were seated shortly after. We sat at the table for 20 minutes without being tended to. Three different waitresses waited on the tables all around us to include the tables that came after us. I went up to the hostess and told her a server hadn’t been to our table yet. Shortly after we were finally waited on. We gave our food order at 5:30 and didn’t get our food until 6:30. When we inquired about the time it was taking, we were told the chef stabbed himself in the hand. They brought us a half a basket of bread to hold us over. We didn’t leave until 7pm. The waitress never apologized for any of it. The food was delicious and the company was great. The service was awful. We do not recommend this restaurant.

The food on average was ok, some was good, seafood with pasta was not enjoyable, mojito I would not recommend, beer choices were decent, burgers were good, but fries tasted like they were fried in old oil. Paying with card incurred a fee, had cash, maybe it was noted, but I didn't see and wish they pointed it out, but the did only after charging. Tip for our party was included (which to be honest I don't mind and as some in our group were clearly foreigners, where tipping culture may be different, I understand why staff would want to include), but they didn't mention it when gave bill and added it after taking the CC, calculated on top of tax and non-cash fee, which is not a huge deal, but also a bit sneaky, though otherwise service was good. Overall not a terrible experience, but I wouldn't go out of my way for it.

I went for Sunday Brunch. Food is okay but not good for what you pay. I was particularly disappointed by the eggs benedict. I asked for coffee and got no sugar on my table. Service was passable and atmosphere is okay.

First time going here for dinner and drinks. The drink I ordered was great. Ordered the crème brûlée martini. I highly recommend. I ordered the scallops for an appetizer and the sauce was great but the scallops tasted like pepper. Ordered the teriyaki salmon for dinner and this tasted the same, just like pepper. I’ll definitely come back for drinks but not for meals.

Went for family Sunday brunch for the 1st time here. 1. Worst cup of coffee ever - how do you mess that up? Even had to have the waitress bring us sodas 😑 2. Plan on waiting - wait staff was either non existent, not trained or something was difficult for them because it was a wait for every single step. 3. Food was good ! It was.. But you will for sure wait some more for the rest of your food and anything you ask for. 4. Wanna go back but won't because of bad regular coffee and how long it all takes. Just a shame

Beef Wellington was a good filet of beef with pastry thrown over the top. Very disappointed in it was not a beef Wellington at all. More like steke and pasty on the side. Blan no taste to sauce and or steak. Potatos and green beans where ya okay. For such hype about everyone talking about this place. It was a let down for sure for me. We also had the chicken Marsala that was decent not bad. That was pretty tasty. Looks of it not so good but tasted good. Small porshin size for chicken tho. The app was good twice backed potatoe. The best of it all. Over all app was great. Dinner below average for what it was. And way below average for fine or upscale lol. Go have a good time see what you like but the Wellington made me very upset as you can tell.

Our reservation was at 5:00, we were waiting in line while people were walking in for take out orders and they were being taken care of before we were finally seated at 5:20. Then were seated right next to the rest rooms. The waiter took our orders for our drinks and appetizers. Our appetizers arrived before our drinks. I ordered the prime rib for 2 that should have come with a bottle of champagne and chocolate covered strawberries, but whe he brought us the bill and questioned him why we did not receive the champagne and strawberries, he replied with that I did not right order the right one but still got charged the full $55 of the "special". My wife spoke up when the hostess came to pick up our payment, to ask about our bill about the champagne and strawberries and she said that he must have been confused and brought us the champagne and strawberries in which she said that she threw in one extra strawberry for the misunderstanding in which the strawberries were small in the first place. The prime rib that I received should not have been priced at $55 for the piece that I received. This was supposed to be a special romantic dinner for my wife and myself. We have been there several times prior to this and were very pleased and that's why we decided to have dinner at your establishment. We were very disappointed with our visit tonight, on what was supposed to be a special Valentines Day dinner. It will be a while before we return.

Very poor choice for vegetarians. The menu has a vegetarian section but is full of seafood dishes. I asked the server for help ordering a vegetarian meal and was guided to the ravioli entree, without the shrimp. When it arrived the cream sauce tasted like it had a lard (animal fat) base. Otherwise, friendly service and good for groups. But if you are organizing a dinner and anyone in your group is a vegetarian, they will not have a pleasant meal here.

The food was delicious. However, two hrs later, myself, my friend and even our dogs, which we fed the leftovers, were sick most of the night. (Coming out both end). The hostess was not friendly, whatsoever, I didn't see her smile once, but the bartender and Sandy, or waitress were great! Sandy was very attentive to us, and all the other customers. Always had a smile, and wasn't always "checking" on us. She was helpful at the times we needed her. Not sure if we will be back to take the chance again. Hopefully, no one else was ill last night.

This has been my mother’s favorite restaurant for over 30 years. I recently took her there while I was visiting and we had a terrible experience. It took over an hour after we ordered to receive our meals. During that time the server did not once come over and say anything to us. I’m no restaurant pro, but from my experiences in many other restaurants I would think the server would have come over multiple times and updated us. And check to see if our drinks needed refreshing, and probably even offer us some bread or an appetizer. None of this happened. And there was no apology at any point in the process. At the time, the restaurant was half full and there were at least three servers in the area we were sitting in. So I really can’t think of any reasonable excuse for ignoring us. When the food finally came it was very good, as we expected. But it was hard to enjoy it at that point. My mother, as a long time customer, was quite upset. So I hate to do this but I don’t know how else to get this message across. On our way out we tried to tell the owners about our experience and were brushed off without an apology. I called 9 days ago about this and still have not received a call back. I very rarely, if ever, write negative reviews but I feel this message needs to be heard by both potential customers and management.

My fiance and I had an anniversary dinner last Sunday here. The atmosphere was beautiful however that would be the only positive i could say. We stopped at the bar first and overheard several times the wait staff complain and swear at each other. We were then seated outback and the tables are so slanted we were afraid our dishes were going to slide off the table. The food was average at best as i could cook a better steak at home. The potatoes were literally just over baked large wedges that had no flavor. $170 with tip we will not be back again.

The place is really cute and beautifully decorated. But my beef Wellington, while cooked perfectly, had ZERO seasoning on it. I also don't like that the menu doesn't say what sides are available, or that dinner comes with sides? Our server was absent, dispute the place only being 20% full on a Friday night at 630. However the staff members that fill your water were VERY present. Only nice thing I can say... Really.

Short version: beer was flat, served food that had gone bad. Not returning. Long version: We have been here several times ( 6+ times) and have generally had a great experience. They have a cute view in the back and interesting food pairings. We visited the cellar most recently for our anniversary dinner, and it was not good. This is why I am changing my rating. The dinner started off on the wrong foot: My husband ordered a beer. It was the last bit in the keg so 1) there wasn't enough to give him the full glass amount 2) it was completely flat. Not enjoyable at all. The waitress came with the glass 3/4 full and said, "the bartender apologizes, as this was the last bit in the keg. He will get you a new one. He is opening a new keg". Well... a "new beer" turned out to be the waitress bringing us a small sampler like glass (the type you get for beer tasting) to make up for the 1/4 beer that was missing. Like common! Just dump the last flat beer and get the customer an actual full glass of non flat beer. We decided to let that go and enjoy our night. We did not bring up how flat it was or make a fuss over this. We were just going to forget about it and drink flat beer lol. Next issue: we were served coleslaw that had gone totally rancid. This time, we informed the waitress. She took it back to the chef to try and said he confirmed, "yes it is borderline. He is just going to throw it out". Not borderline. It was inedible and they knew it. No apology, no offering of a new side. This is not the type of service to expect from a "nice restaurant". This experience has completely turned off a loyal customer. I Hope the owner/manager sees this and makes some changes, as I would want to know how my employees are treating cutomers and dealing with these sorts of situations. Overall, our bill came to $100. We still tipped 20% despite the issues to support those in the restaurant business/service industry, but I am never going back again.

Awful, the website shows a really nice sitting area and bar but they don’t sit anyone there instead they shove everyone in the back room that makes it feel like you are sitting in a diner… the food was awful and too expensive to be that awful, the pictures on the website are a lie. Didn’t end up getting dessert there Staff was nice

Amateur hour comes to The Cellar in Owego. Even though my reservation for a table for nine was made a week in advance, The Cellar managed to be short on appetizers and entries. No brie, no ribeye, no scallops. But it really didn't make a difference because as we were forced to eat multiple orders of shrimp and bread (yes bread) the coordination between kitchen and wait staff put us in a time warp subject to their inefficiency. All we got was, "We're busy tonight" so you'll have to wait. And wait we did while being plied with ill mixed drinks (martini it was not). One appetizer eventually was brought out for nine people!! Imagine my consternation hosting a pre Christmas dinner for family and friends from Norway and outside Owego. But then the beer ran dry for one and even though another brand was ordered, it was never served. The wait staff disappeared and another fellow wearing an overcoat started to take over (Did he come in from the cold?) We never reached coffee or dessert or even an after meal cordial because this pricey experience became an amateur farce titled "I Think I'll Open A Restaurant."

Terrible restaurant with terrible management due to the lack of communication and bad advertising. Before we drove there no one mentioned that from 3:00 to 3:30 they stopped serving food because of dinner reservations. Maybe mention those things before people waste there time coming out there and train your employees better over the phone when customers need to know what's going on. Thank you and God bless
