I had the Fettuccine Rosse and it was delicious - reminded me of the pastas I had in Italy. The ambiance was old school Italian but soothing. The service was quick and friendly.
Their tripe is the best I’ve ever had! The owner is so friendly and accommodating. I always get a tray of pasta for my holiday parties. Very authentic Italian food with large portions!
This restaurant is the perfect balance between upscale and comfortable. It feels fancy without being intimidating—there’s no dress code, so you can enjoy a nice night out without feeling overdressed or underdressed. We had a reservation for 8:30 PM for a party of eight, and even though the restaurant was pretty busy, everything ran smoothly. Appetizers and drinks came out in a timely manner, and what really stood out was the service—each time we finished an appetizer, our table was completely cleared and fresh plates were brought out before the next one arrived. When we ordered our entrées, they didn’t take long at all, and every dish was cooked perfectly and tasted amazing. Our waitress was incredibly friendly, patient, and attentive, which made the experience even better. If you’re planning a birthday celebration, just note there is a $10 cake-holding fee. Overall, I would highly recommend this restaurant for a great Italian meal and excellent service. Just keep in mind that the menu isn’t very large, so it may not be the best choice for extremely picky eaters
Manetta’s Ristorante is one of those places that immediately feels comforting from the moment you walk in. The cozy atmosphere, warm lighting and classic decor give it a timeless charm that makes you want to take your time and settle in. It really does feel like a neighborhood favorite in every sense, and it is easy to understand why people keep coming back. The pasta here is genuinely delicious. Every plate I have tried has been cooked perfectly, with that ideal balance of texture and flavor that makes Italian food so satisfying. The sauces taste rich and thoughtful without feeling heavy, and each dish feels like it was made with care. I had one of the penne dishes on my most recent visit and it was so flavorful and comforting that I found myself slowing down just to appreciate it more. It is the kind of pasta that makes you smile as soon as you take the first bite. It is simply yummy and really well done. The staff also deserves a lot of appreciation. Everyone I interacted with was warm, patient and attentive. You can tell they care about creating a pleasant dining experience. They check in without hovering and they move with an easy confidence that comes from knowing the restaurant well. It adds to the relaxed feeling of the entire place. Even small gestures, like offering suggestions or making sure water glasses are filled, stand out because they are done with genuine kindness. Manetta’s is exactly the kind of Italian restaurant you want in your area. Cozy environment, consistently great pasta and a staff that treats you well from the moment you walk in. If you are in Long Island City and want a comforting, well made meal, this spot will make you very happy.
Manetta is a delight! Neighborhood spot of 30 years and feels so homey. Outstanding service…Habib gave great recommendations! The house salad is something special. I can’t wait to have it again. And also the Mona Lisa pizza is out of this world. Arugula, mushrooms, truffle, parm…sooooo good! Ideal combo. Also loved the vodka pasta. We will definitely be back!! Such a gem of a spot!
The pictures I’ve posted are across two different visits to this restaurant. Both times I’ve been here the experience is extraordinary. The flavors of each dish were incredible, the ingredients they use are quality, they use a brick oven for their pizzas, and the prices are very reasonable. Every pasta I’ve had was cooked perfectly with the right balance of flavors, and every pizza I’ve had was wonderfully crispy with a slight taste of wood in the charred bits. If you’re ever in Long Island City, this place is a must if you love Italian food.
We came without a reservation, but we were seated right away. The inside is charming. The only issue was the noise. The acoustics are bad, as it was hard to talk with one another. The service was excellent. They were very friendly and attentive. The food was also excellent. I had a steak and a seafood appetizer. I didn't think the prices were too high for the product. We will likely return, although maybe for a lunch. They have a wood fired brick pizza oven that smelled delicious.
On a cold winter night in 2021, I visited this cozy restaurant and enjoyed the vodka penne. I returned today and the vodka penne is as good as I remember it. The salad is fresh and delicious, and the panna cotta paired with fruit compote is a nice ending to the meal. They also serve bread and brought some house-made cookies at the end of the meal. They also have outdoor seating for the summer. The service is very good. And it’s a lovely restaurant.
Had a great last-minute New Year's Eve dinner at this gem of a restaurant! The staff went above and beyond by allowing me to customise my dish, and the prices were surprisingly reasonable, offering great value for such a fantastic experience. One of the highlights is their in-house pasta, adding an extra layer of authenticity to the Italian cuisine. The salmon penne was an absolute dream - the perfect blend of flavours and textures. The warm and welcoming atmosphere, as well as the great service from the staff, created a memorable dining experience. The manager/owner personally came to check on the customers, which was a nice touch and gave the place a family feel. I'm looking forward to my next visit to New York, and this restaurant will be on my list. Highly recommend for those seeking both a taste of authentic Italian cuisine and a genuinely enjoyable evening.
The food was delicious and the staff were efficient and friendly. The atmosphere was nice overall. I got the veal with eggplant and the dish had great flavors and texture. The calamari is also crispy and well cooked served with some hearty marinara. My one feedback is regarding the parsley on the side of the plates. I thought this made the presentation look messy. But overall an excellent restaurant for Italian food.
I recently attended a private event at Manetta’s and left feeling disappointed overall. Our group of about 30 people was squeezed into a tight space in the back of the restaurant, right next to the bathroom. Throughout the night, people from outside our party kept walking into the area to wait for the restroom, which made what was supposed to be a private gathering feel anything but. The group was split across three small tables, and the layout was so cramped that guests and servers were constantly squeezing behind chairs just to move around. Considering the restaurant didn’t seem very busy for a Saturday night, a long table by the window would have offered a much better setup. The food itself was just okay. The standout was the swordfish—tender, flaky, and nicely smoky. The eggplant was also very good. However, the pasta dishes were disappointing. The red sauce tasted overly sweet and canned, and my pasta was undercooked. The orecchiette with broccoli rabe was fine, but not particularly memorable. Everything was served family-style, but the portions felt uneven between tables. On the positive side, our head waiter was excellent—attentive, professional, and doing his best with the cramped layout. Overall, good service but average food, and the poorly arranged event space really took away from the experience.
Loyalty Doesn’t Always Matter: My Disheartening Experience at Manetta’s Ristorante After 18 years as a loyal customer, I never thought Manetta's Ristorante would behave this way. What started as a disappointing meal—overly garlicky, overpriced appetizers with tiny slices tomatoes (photo is bigger than it actually is) —quickly spiraled into something far worse. When I ordered takeout, Diane (possibly the owner, handling my order) failed to complete it properly. When I pointed out the mistake, she blamed me, offering nothing more than a half-hearted apology. Worse yet, her "solution" was completely unreasonable: I could either trek back in the cold or wait for a late delivery—both incredibly inconvenient. To top it off, the food lacked flavor, as if it had been prepared by someone just learning how to cook rather than a skilled chef. It was nothing more than carbs, and definitely not worth the price. What stung the most, though, was the realization that the staff didn’t even recognize me as a loyal customer until I mentioned it. Diane, who is there frequently, didn’t even make an effort to remember faces or acknowledge long-time customer, which made the experience feel impersonal and dismissive. As a long time customer, being treated this way was beyond frustrating. Family-owned or not, mistreatment like this is unacceptable. Sadly, I can no longer recommend Manetta's. There are too many other local spots that know how to treat their customers with respect.
